LOL---persom removing plate and putting in new ones for the WCV eaglelets!!! Wonder if she knows the "world is watching?"

WV sUSAn said...

One went all defensive with its mouth open. The other two didn't even budge. hahahaha Think their little crops must be full because they are not rushing the new food. Funny they are getting served on plates.

JudyE, the night light and the security system are for the big house we all live in here on the blog.

It underscores the fact that we are one big family. It also underscores the fact that we have one heck of an imagination that can confuse the daylights out of newbies. Sometimes we confuse ourselves.

Just saw a beautiul male hummer!

The "assistant" has already managed to get paint on his head, LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn..I'll bet she knows the world is watching!

Mema Jo said...

Suzan I am really okay... I was just joking with Judie about her
forgetting to turn on the night
light!
My lower left leg has a rod and of course it is bolted in very well. It happened 2 yrs ago and is holding up very well.

How is your breathing today!
Are you taking it easy and feeling
fairly well?

Mema Jo said...

Wow we split and I didn't feel a thing?

hedgie said...

LOL...I really don't remember how the night light and security stuff started....just know that Judie and Andy have done a great job!!!

sUSAn, so good to see you. Email must be in Yahoo......closed it out earlier when I started bringing up cams. Will go back to it.

sUSAn--plates because the food was making a mess in the fancy nest!!! Think they started using them after the first nest feeding!!!

Paula you were down there last evening before I even knew you were
headed there. It's a different world once you get there - a feeling of freedom! Enjoy!

Lolly that green is so cooooool

Jo, I've been the sickest ever in at least twenty years. FLU to the tenth power!!! Much better today but have blown my nose so many times, I'm sure I've lost a couple points on my IQ. My gosh. But, I'm making a comeback!!!!

hedgie said...

Jo, this is sUSAn from Charleston, not Suzan from NC!

Yeah, we did split--and I did it again. NO WAX, please!

JudyE---never thought W/M would treat their ee's so well! I have a diamond princess ring from GM for 25 yrs. of service!

WV sUSAn said...

I understand about the plate feeding. Still funny.

Lynn, what kind of puppy are you getting?? How old? More info please. I'm so excited for you!

The postman cometh & I got my Loch of the Lowes Amazon book!!! Oh boy, oh boy! With these little side projects, housework may suffer this weekend & I should go to work for a few hours, maybe tomorrow and do battle!

Mema Jo said...

Hello sUSAn! Praying for you & Gray to keep your strength for taking care of his mom.

I just wonder whose pic is on your avatar - Some famous bird I would guess........ lol

NatureNut said...

I've gotta cvhecvk those NBG juvies!!

stronghunter said...

Not only to we have a night light and security system, we also have a hiding place in Minnesota for unwanted appliances. It gets complicated.

Somebody makes a joke about something, and everybody chimes in.

stronghunter said...

. . . do we have a nightlight . . .

hedgie said...

Glo, this was the first visitation by this rescue group. It was only a formality. She had told the foster that I had been approved pending the inspection. She said I was to call the foster and tell her that she had approved everything. All I know is a name and town and phone number in MD.
I'm going to call again now!

hedgie said...

Now I just get an answering machine. Message left. ARGH!!!

WV sUSAn said...

Jo, my avatar is Lady Isla from Loch of the Lowes after laying her second egg tis year.

Gs mom is doing well, had her fourth treatment (of 12) this week. Some discomforts including aching bones. Hope that means the chemo is doing its job and fighting the evil cancer. She is such a sweet person and we are all so very anxious to see results as treatments progress.

hedgie said...

sUSAn, she's a 4 mo. old mini-doxie, Piebald coloring (rare). She weighs 4#, and expected mature wt. is 8#. SHE sure won't be able to attack me or knock me over or drag me around!!! I have named her Liesl! She is a puppy mill rescue from Ohio.

hedgie said...

LOWREED and sUSAn------did you see my post a few days ago about the book??? Jonathan sent me the Armitage book NOT the book that Susan has....and of course it cost twice the price of the Amazon copy----which ssupposedly won;t arrive until 5/15----but I couldn't cancel the order (it was an outside Amazon vendor). ARGH!!! Add to the price ouch, it cost $17 on my phone bill for the call to Scotland! I am very disappointed.

WV sUSAn said...

Lynn, I contacted a couple rescue groups to find a replacement kitty for my daughter and they wouldn't even consider because she lets her cats go outside.

The fact that she lives a mile up a dirt road on 4 acres didn't persuade them at all.

Interesting that they would pass on a loving and very capable home and possibly dispose of kitties, rather than to place in such a natural environment.

GOOD AFTERNOON...
LYNN, be careful not to step on Liesl;)

Good to see you back Susan WV...I missed the reason you had to be away. Sorry!

Costume Lady said...

I have been very busy here and at GG's for some time now and trying to play catch-up on so many things.
I'm sorry if I have missed any important happenings to our Momsters & Dadsters...don't ever mean to ignore any of you!

NatureNut said...

Lynn, I can't believe SWT sent you the Armitage book!!!!! I didn't know they were even selling it, since it's sold thru Amazon!! BOO HISS!It was sent out by another dealer, but only about $4 postage to make total about $13!Jonathan goofed.

hedgie said...

FinFerry appears to be frozen....:(

WV sUSAn said...

Lynn, sorry to hear you received the wrong book. SWT is no longer printing, but I can send you Susan McVey's contact info as she is working on a reprint and taking orders.

Great news about Liesl. They have such sweet dispositions and no worry about any abuse with this baby.... just lots of lovin's!

NatureNut said...

Sorry to hear Susan has been ill--hope you're all better soon. That's crummy about kittens not going to in-out homes.
Wanda, you & Father Capt. Gene are some of the busiest people we know doing good for neighborhood & family. We know where you are!

Lynn, do you have the LOtL Blog book also on order w/SWT, Jonathan?? What a screwy mix-up!

Mema Jo said...

Lynn - thanks for keeping me straight - I did think for a moment I was talking with NC instead of WV.........

Wanda - Nothing too new! Please don't overdo in GG's Garden..
Missing you on here..

WV sUSAn said...

Bad health issues all around Loretta, but I'm on the mend and we'll continue to tend to the other as Gs mom is going through a lot right now. Thank you.

Regarding bear news, Lily has been under the weather for a few days and am hoping she is back to good health soon.

hedgie said...

Yes, Loretta, he did.....but I'm not wasting another $17 to call and complain. Robyn is working on finding some way to get it through Chrissy, if I remember correctly.

sUSAn....I know that some find it unfair, but because the population is just so huge, and the environmental dangers are getting worse, I don't think any shelter or rescue ever knowingly adopts out an animal that will be kept outdoors. And I have to agree with that policy. I don't understand the purpose of a pet if it's not part of the home and family. JMHO. Unfortunately, my oldest daughter let ti start, and she is now plaqued with always-reproducing cats, most of which end up being feral. So wrong.

WV sUSAn said...

Ohhhhhhhh, all three NBG chicks are up and looking out the window. Sooooooo cute!!!

WV sUSAn said...

I think all the daydreaming must have worn them out, settling back down for another nappy.

ROFL That little filly named Lily Grace is bouncing off the

hedgie said...

Okay, sUSAn, I would appreciate that contact info for the book.
No, Loretta, Jonathan apparently just got confused. I said "your Lady of the Loch book" and he even said "it's being reprinted"....and then sent the wrong one.

hedgie said...

What is wrong with Lily??? I don't remember an update for a couple of days on FB.....what's going on sUSAn??

hedgie said...

Wanda, LOL---it will help that she is mostly white! It was easy to trip over Cinnamon because she was dark and kind of blended in with a lot of things!!!

WV sUSAn said...

I disagree with the policy of letting animals die rather than to place in indoor|outdoor homes. I understand the dangers, but it is nature and cats will always be wild animals, even what we call domestic cats. And besides, that's what the kitty door is for :-) They are in and out at their liesure, enjoying both the human family life as well as their natural habitat. Seems like the best of both worlds and that is, of course, IMHO. Love ya, Lynn!

Glad we can offer so many wonderful and loving environments for our four-legged friends.

RE BEARS -- Lynn has been out several times in the past week to ck on Lily and fam. Lily has been somewhat off her game, not interested in treats, and signs of very loose stools (hot lava butt). Lacey and Lily........

hedgie said...

Don't like that the WCV cam times out so often. Can't get the loon cam, but did get the Maine Osprey cam!

Linda said...

What a beautiful, energetic, shiny horse Lacey is. Thank God they rescued her!

Linda said...

Lily popped her head out a couple times.....

Mema Jo said...

Lacey really is enjoying her run
Need a larger view on the cam..
because Lily is hiding.......

WV sUSAn said...

Lilly, the horse, is just glad to be out. Lacey isn't so sure. I think she's camera shy.

Mema Jo said...

sUSAn - I think the horse is Lacey
She was saved 1 day prior to going to slaughter. Lily Grace is the
filly. I could be wrong...
They don't have much literature on their cam........

Here she is again

WV sUSAn said...

ooops, must have the names backwards.

Mema Jo said...

Love the markings on her face.....
She isn't going to want to go in..

Linda said...

Jo, you've got it correct according to what I have read and according to Colleen's tweets!

Doesn't Lacey look happy and spirited??

WV sUSAn said...

You are correct, Jo. Lacey was glad to kick up her heels!

Linda said...

Amazing that she is just three days old!

WV sUSAn said...

What a lucky horse family. Why were they going to put Lacey down. She looks so healthy!!

hedgie said...

She just called. As usual, nothing ever goes right! She did not even know anything about me. There are two puppies, and someone else has first pick. They are identical, tho'. She has been trying to get hold of them to arrange for them to pick up one. ARGH! She is going to try to call them again. My rescue contact, who was here, was on her way to Morgantown and neither of us have her cell phone number. If we can get it, she will call her and see if it's okay to go ahead and let me take either one. BUT----her girls have prom this evening and she is going to be very busy...........MTBR.

hedgie said...

Poor Lily.....sure hope that she improves rapidly. Wonder why no FB updates? Sue is usually so good about "play by play" when something is going on.

Yep...mare is Lacey, and filly is Lily Grace, Jo.
They never said WHY Lacey was going to be sold to slaughter.

hedgie said...

sUSAn---sorry---didn't know about the cat-door. Of course, after alligator story in FL last week, don't think I would want a doggie door!!!

Linda said...

Oh, Lynn, I'm so sorry things have to be so difficult!! We'll just have to start praying things smooth out and in a few short hours Liesl will be home with YOU!!

(((Hugs and Prayers for you!)))

Mema Jo said...

I think I read that Lacey was finished her racing years.....

Mema Jo said...

They are both very people horses.

glo said...

ARGH Hedgie Communication makes and breaks so very very many things in life. Its as good as the weakest link. Hold on Liesl you do have a home.

Mema Jo said...

Fantastic video about
Lacey - tears

WV sUSAn said...

The alligator story was CRAZY. The cat door is small so the dog can't get through... or she eats all the cat food in the garage. hahaha

Whatever the reason, glad Lacey has such a good home NOW.

We bought a 22 yr old Am Saddle Bred horse years ago. She had been in a fire and would cough when she ate. Such a beautiful animal, mild mannered and we bought her for little of nothing to use for lessons. My stepfather was an old time horse trader and he could fix any horse we'd get in to the stable. We started watering her hay before feeding and the coughing stopped. We would even use her on trails and she was great. Glad George knew his horses because we sure got a good one in that ol' gal, Nelle.

glo said...

Oh MeMa Jo does this mean its happy tears or is it sad tears with a happy ending. I guess my question is does it involve neglect and abuse turned right or just her history up til the day they almost slaughtered her.

Linda said...

Lily is having a ball running and prancing around now with Mama!! How cute is that?

Mema Jo said...

Happy tears
Lacey is a rescue I found at a killpen. I saw a horse in dire need and couldn't leave her there. I took her home to if anything die a dignified death. Yet she beat the odds held on and now brought us a surprise. Lacey was pregnant when I rescued her and now we have her filly Lilly!

Mema Jo said...

I love Lilly's side-trotting.

News Article about
Lacey and Lilly

I am taking a break.. BBILW
So happy watching this cam with all of you!

WV sUSAn said...

See ya later Jo and all. Going to break also!

hedgie said...

Thanks, GLo!

Both of our horses were retired turn-outs from the track. Both were on their way to glue factory, too....luckily, my BIL and I both worked with the farrier and he told BIL about them (not at the same time)...assuring us they were perfect for the girls. So we got Tink first, and then Rojo a year or so later. Both have been on the Rainbow Bridge for many years now, but they led good after-work lives.

hedgie said...

Now I want to go riding! Haven't ridden in years.

hedgie said...

So guess her throat was just too irritated from the smoke to eat her food dry, huh, sUSAn? Poor girl. Glad it worked ut!

Did you see below Jo's video that her dad didn't know they'd made it...and how proud he was?

hedgie said...

Love Sarah McLachlan's songs. Always tear-jerkers....all of the SPCA ads use them.

hedgie said...

Beautiful...tears flowing...happy tears for Lacey, but sad tears for all abused and neglected animals.

glo said...

Yes Hedgie thats what I thought about In the Arms of the Angels when i first heard it. To be honest i always mute it and hide my TV screen until it is over. it tears me apart. I would rescue them all every day if i could. I always donate to the animal causes when there is a Natural Disaster. I just know they are everywhere in dire straights. I am happy too for Lacey and Lilly and LIESL too. She is coming home. Hang tough :-)My Daphne was a Puppy Mill pup. I didn't know it when I went to get her BUT I sure wasn't leaving her there once I saw her. It was sad very very sad.

glo said...

Just read about Tink and Rojo I had a horse next door growing up named Birchie. They never did ride him he just pastured on the other side of my stone wall. I met Birchie many a day with apples. I have a horse in Farmville that I call Birchie. BUT an even neater story is my kids are over 6 years apart. We had given up on a baby and were in the process of adopting. Took a vacation in Southern IL and part of that included horseback riding. I had a very spirited horse and once we headed back towards the barn why we got there in record time.LOL. Driving home that year I told my hubby I thought I was coming down with the flu or something. Felt really sick to my stomach . We stopped for crackers. To make a long story short I was pregnant with my daughter Becky on that wonderful gallop. She must have held on pretty tight. I told her I knew she would be strong willed and determined to succeed in all of life because she did succeed in coming into our lives about 7 months later.

hedgie said...

I know, Glo....I can't watch/listen to the ads. Just breaks my heart. And it seems that things are getting worse instead of better....or maybe we just are learning about more cases because of the internet, FB, and the fact that laws are finally being passed that makes these things come out into the light.
I, too , wish I had the means to do more. I just pray that this lady doesn't over-extend herself. Cashing in life insurance to buy supplies.....how can she afford a bigger place to take in more??? Recent horse seizures throughout the country and the travesty of what has happened in Ireland is just pure insanity. And so much of it started because someone had good intentions, but.....

Great story about your trip, ride and pregnancy!!! A miracle that you didn't miscarry!

I'll be bringing Seth home with me for our usual Sat/Sun routine.

JudyE, were you born in Germany ? I have friends in Munich and have visited them as well as my first husbands relatives in Berlin and Hanover. Beautiful country !

Good afternoon Eagle Buds! Been just hanging out, piddling around today. Raked a few leaves (not many, no worries), walked across the road to another campground to visit with some friends. I will be very, very glad when Tom Riffe gets home to say the least!!

Let me tell you the reason I got OMA instead of grandma My grand daughter during her first 18 months had 9 ear infections My daughter took her to the EENT her self since her Dr didn't see a issue she could only say Mama and Dada at 2 so Angie took her and Found out with all the ear infections that she was partially deaf (like hearing under water with all the fluid that keeps building up in her ears) She had tubes put in a adenoids out then. She is now three and has just begun to speak 2-4 word sentences she is a little behind but we know she will catch up being she can now hear She also had her tonsils out at another surgery because she had sleep apnea Well when my mom passed she gave me her cross pendant which I wear in between my eagles on my necklace When Jordyn was younger she would love the cross and I said that it was OMAs meaning my mom and all of a sudden she said OMAs and (remember she could only say Mama and dada) so in honor or my mom who was born in Germany and passed away right before Jordyn was born I adopted the name She now can say Grandma but I'm sticking to OMA for my MOM who was excited that my daughter was pg at 40 she and Carl tried for 13 years and all of sudden got PG YEAH I told her its the raging hormones because she was getting premenopausal So that is how I only have one grand child My son says there aren't any that he is aware of LOL BBL gonna try to get something done HAHA Can you believe that HA

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I have to tell you that I am amazed at the job WCV is doing at reconnecting us with those eaglets! I know that their priority has to be taking care of the animals, but they have certainly gone above and beyond the call of duty for us!!

JudyEddy said...

Question Is it not good for the eaglets to see humans? I thought they would use puppet for feeding or behind a blind or something like that- I just thought that there would be no human contact if they were to be release in the wild some day Just wondering Me and my question HUH And I said I was going to get busy BBL

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

What a great story JudyE! Love it. My dad called my Adam Hucky (from the Hulk) so he called my Dad Hokie. Adam called my Mom Gee, trying to say Granny. So they were always Hokie and Gee to Adam. The Riffes were the only ones that kept calling Daddy Hokie after Adam and Aaron died. They still call him that when they refer to him.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

They said that there would be minimal human interaction but I see alot of it right now.

Judie said...

Well, GW beat Dayton 5-1. Got to say hi to my five students/players. It was lovely weather. I now have some sun color.

JudyE, I really had to laugh about the night light question. About two years ago, Shirley posted some #@%$#@ because she woke up and stubbed her toe or something in the dark. I then decided that I would leave a night light on for those of us who have to get up in the dark. Of course, I then fell down a flight of stairs and have been in recovery for the past 5 1/2 months. Andy, on the west coast, sets our security alarm so no unwelcome visitors can open the blog door and come in while we are sleeping.

Yes, Lolly, I have been irresponsible on more than one occasion. Have mercy, please. I'm old and ask forgiveness. Actually, was up to watch the big event across the pond and was really sleepy by last night.

Sent Chrissy an email letting her know I thought the proceedings were lovely and dignified and wishing the young couple a lifetime of happiness. I know she must have been proud.

Okay, garlic shrimp and salad tonight. Might add some squash casserole I made yesterday. Is anyone jealous? If so, come on over.

DanaMo said...

gonna chime in on the grandparent name conversation. My kids call my dad "Pees". My mom wanted them to be galled Grammies and Grampees, but my oldes couldn't say Grampees and so Pee stuck through all 4 kids. Now my 3 son wants to call my dad and mom Grandma and Grandpa. He is almost 16 and I guess he thinks he needs to use a more mature name for them! Go figure. It's weird when I hear him say it.

Well I'm off to Mass. I will keep everyone in my prayers. I will have to make it a general for all in the Eagle Blog and their family/friends who need it because I can't remember everyone and all their needs. I always end up forgetting someone so I had to just make it general. Or I say "for whoever asked me to pray for them". Old age stinks! LOL!
How is the little baby everyone has been praying for...can't remember the name, starts with "L"? I don't feel like I've heard anything for a while. BBL

Eaglets and human contact
Ed Clark explained that all the imprinting happens in the first I think he said 3 weeks, may have been less time. They know they are eagles. The humans DO NOT TALK to them at all when feeding or during exams. So in that sense its minimal. They are fed on plates to help make clean up a little less frequent and somewhat easier while keeping down the fly count too.

MeMa Jo that video was awesome. I cried through it. I can never understand how people can be cruel to animals. All's they want is love, attention, and food. And they give us so much in return. WOW for you for rescuing her.

We're h-o-m-e!!! Liesl is ADORABLE!!! Took her out first thing with no results! Let her explore a little, but starving (me!) so put her in crate while I eat. Typing with one hand!! I hollered at Sandra, Megan and Wanda/Gene as I went by their houses/roads!!

OK, dinner done. Liesl is asleep.
She did throw up a little on the way home. Basically straight stretches but a few curves and hills. The foster mom cried...made me feel bad for taking her away! That's why I don't think I could foster.
