Good morning everyone. Hope everyone has a good Good Friday. I'm wearing my red today for the troops. Did anyone claim the elderly lady yet? I carry a GPS with me in the truck. I figure someday I'll forget how to get home....but then I'll probably forget I have the GPS too. lol

Good morning! Hi Jo! Good to have you back. We missed you!

Yes, it is Earth Day, but I think of it as my mother's birthday. She would have been 95 today. We gave her a big 90th birthday celebration. She died 4 months later. Hard to believe it has been 5 years. I surely do miss her.

Trying something new today. LOL Said good morning before reading the blog. Living dangerously!

Heading out to mow and plant caladium bulbs today.

Mema Jo said...

Likewise Lolly - I also think of today
as my son's 47th b-day! Today we can
look like Christmas all over with our
red and green for 2 very very special
causes.

Good to be back, Lolly. Had a great time down at the beach with no rain at all.

JudyE - you have a great day planned!

At 10:00 my Bragg Bunch Gals will be
meeting up with me! Can't wait!

Mema Jo said...

Hubby is out speeding around the yard in order to get grass cut before rain
hits us.

Red, I hope you had a nice dinner out last evening. I know what you mean about seating on the weekend.

Lori - I really did love the 'Bull in the Basket' lol

Red said...

Thanks Jo. Dinner was good. I was thinking about what I said a few days ago about everything we buy now being from China. Well guess where we ate last night. Chinese of course. haha

Out of here to meet Bragg Bunch

Be back this afternoon......

I went back and read. Glad there was another visit this morning.

LIB, YOU ARE MISSED!!!

Have a great visit with your Bragg Bunch, Jo. How much fun!

We are all going to be at Michael's Sunday afternoon. All I have to take is Deviled Eggs. Laurel is bringing a fruit pizza. Do not know the rest of the menu.

I am off to read the paper now.

Have a glorious Friday!

Good morning!

Happy Earth Day! Hunter and I were just discussing Earth Day, and I see that you've already mentioned it. It's a day our group would surely appreciate.

Hunter is a character, and already proving that he will keep me busy. Kathryn will surely need my help raising this one.

She left a list of things for him to do. She started it with "brush your teeth after breakfast." Then she has "get dressed."

Well, Hunter wants bacon and eggs for breakfast, so I told him to get dressed while I fix it. He contended that he doesn't have to get dressed until after breakfast because mom said that.

I said that we'd be adding another thing to the list about doing what Grandma says. He read over the list and found Mom had put that on the list already. Thank goodness.

Good morning everyone. Busy weekend for so many folks. Sending Easter blessings to all my Christian friends and family. Remember its Friday but Sunday is coming "Tony Compollo. Without today there would be no Resurrection Sunday.

Earth day well by what I saw at the Mississippi yesterday besides the flood, we sure need to take better care of our earth and teach our kids as well.

stronghunter said...

Hmm, getting the bacon and eggs is gonna interrupt my relaxing cup of coffee a bit. Of course, I do not really mind. :)

Praise the Lord. The elders will be reunited later today. Husband was located in northern PA around 0430. Resting up before he returns for his wife. 78 y.o.
No other details yet.

Good morning on this chilly, dreary, damp Good Friday morning. I have always found it fitting that it rain on this somber day.

hedgie said...

Update: Honest mistake. They were in a large camping van. I suspected something like that....have heard of it happening before. I'm sure he was a frantic as she was when he realized she wasn't there.

Jo, enjoy your special time with the Bragg girls!!
Glad Ed got the mowing done---rain has started here. I got the decks blown off just as it started.

Paula, we need more pics of your progress when you get home!!

KayIM and JudyE....enjoy your park treks with your grands!! Taking mine to see things like that was always so much fun. I think the last time was two years ago when we went to an Alpaca farm.

Shirley, time to start treaching Hunter how to cook!!! Then maybe he can serve you and Kat Mother's Day breakfast in bed!!!

Megan, 1-2" of rain forecast....flood watch until 8 tomorrow morning. :(

hedgie said...

Glad to see that we can still see green at the nest on Green Day AND have sound!

hedgie said...

ROFL, Red. That is cute!!!!

Lolly said...

Red, love your poem!

Paula, have a great weekend at the beach. So happy for you that the eagles are still there. Fantastic! So. now your assistant is all wet. LOL I suspect you are going to have a wet assistant quite often!

So glad the elderly couple are being reunited. That is so wild! Will be curious to find out exactly what he was driving.

I am off to eat breakfast and then out to mow. Beautiful day here!

DanaMo said...

Getting ready to take my 12 year old daughter clothes shopping. Please pray for me...

stronghunter said...

I love your poem, too, Red. I put it on my Facebook page.

Starting to rain here, too.

Prayers, DanaMo. I understand. I have two daughters. I am not sure which is worse, taking girls or boys shopping. Girls are interested, boys want to be somewhere else.

I think I'd rather take girls, to tell you the truth. Probably more expensive, though not necessarily. Boys will need a bribe. (Not that mine always got what they wanted.)

hedgie said...

LOL, Dana.....my youngest gd is 12.....I take her shopping for school clothes and know exactly what you mean!!!!

Hoda said...

Happy Earth Day everyone and a Blessed Good Friday to all.
It is good to be alive and to connect with this bolog in the morning.Red your poem brought me a smile. Thank you. The birds are singing this morning and such a lovely sound of spring...I too look for news of the old lady who was left on the highway stop and I hope it is all resolved by now.If someone hears anything let us know please. I missed the early morning visit but was glad to read about it. mema Jo I will hug a tree today wehn I go for my walk in the park after yoga. Enjoy the day everyone...

Awww HedgieGood news indeed on the elderly couple camping story.

GOOD MORNING...
Shopping for daughters...EEEEEKK!
My oldest, Denise, was easy to please until she got to be about 12 or 13. She was all LEGS...very long, and could seldom find pants long enough for her. Back then, they didn't have the choices that they do now. I would buy her the longest pants I could find and GG would let the hem out and face it with lace, which made them about 2 inches longer.
Karla, was another story! From the time she was old enough to talk, she had to have POCKETS in everything...pants, blouses, dresses. Then when she was 12 or 13, we had the same problem as with Denise...looong legs:) At that age, she wasn't real picky about pockets, so that was a big help!

Hoda said...

I see Hedgie had posted about the lady who was left on the highway stop. I am glad it is resolved and they have a story to tell for a few years now.

stronghunter said...

Probably the hardest shopping trip: Taking toddler twins. We had to leave Sears before we got thrown out.

stronghunter said...

I like pockets, too.

Red said...

Actually the little poem I put up will pass a spell checker. The only thing a spellchecker will catch is punctuation marks. All the misused words have correct spelling.

Red said...

And I'm not the author. I stole it from the internet.

Hoda said...

The second egg hatched at the White Rock nest...Ma is feeding right now.

Hoda said...

That is exactly WHY the poem brought me a smile Red. The students used to rely on spell check and the arguments that ensued for my marking words for rechecking were hilarious.

It is easy to leave someone behind when traveling in a motor home.
I have told this story before, but our new friends haven't heard it.

Gene and I, along with my mother and dad, were vacationing in Florida and were deep in the heart of the Everglades. We had all been walking around looking at the sights and I had wandered away from the motor home a pretty good distance. I was trying to dig up a fern and suddenly, Gene took off down the road in the motor home, leaving me behind. I thought he was playing a joke on me until after about 10 mins. he didn't return. After about 20 minutes, I became frightened, knowing that there are panthers and poisonous snakes, etc. I had no idea how long it would be before someone realized I was missing. Also, we had taken several turns getting to where I was and I wondered if Gene would remember how to get to where he left me! Long story shortened...my dad said, "Gene, do you know you left your wife back there?" (don't know why it took him so long to ask that) Gene thought I was in the bathroom, cleaning up. Needless to say, I was a HAPPY CAMPER when I saw that motor home coming down the road toward me!!
So, you can see how easy it is to leave someone behind...:(

Taking a break, eating lunch and watching the news. Weather helped yesterday with the fire, but today is hot and windy. Tomorrow is more chance of rain. They are allowing some folks in to see what is left of their homes...not much. People brought a trailer, but they could carry out what they found in a paper bag. Sad!

Hi, Everyone,

Wishing all of you an inspirational Good Friday, and a Happy Earth Day!

Pretty busy today. Just got back from Honey Baked Hams--got a nice small one for the 2 of us. The line was around the building, but they have it pretty organized, so only spent 1/2 hr. in line. I remembered to wear my red T-shirt!

Gotta run now--Walmart is next. That ought to be a zoo!

Glad that Belle showed up this morning. Truder, not so much.
TEAM LIBERTY FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to read Sissy's post about Granny! Praise God! SO glad she's doing well. She will feel so much better once she's healed up from the surgery!

Well, I need to hit the road. Will check in later! Have a good day! :o]

Just catching up. Boy is that man that left his wife behind going to get an earful! Took a long time for him to realize she was missing.

Dana, and others with colds, etc., hope you all are feeling much better today.

Much more to read, so off I go ...

Liz said...

Hoda, thanks for being the voice of reason on the ....other...forum. I have seen your name in there a lot these past weeks, and I have noticed a positive change in the discussion over there.

Judie said...

Hello everyone. Will try to catch up.

Jo, welcome back and glad you had some nice beach time.

Red? How did your words taste?

Wanda, so glad you didn't have the same experience of being left entirely...just wait until next time I see Capt. Father Gene.lol Also, please give us an Easter dinner report when you can. Hugs to GG.

Nice to have a good report on Granny Riffe.

Sharon, will be waiting for a "young conductors" report. I know they will be just perfect.

DanaMo, so happy most of the shopping is done for the youngsters. Happy shoe shopping.

Lynn, Ben Andrews death was reported here but haven't seen an update on cause/manner.

JudyE: hope you and Jordyn had a terrific day.

Grading papers and then grading some more papers and then grading some more papers...why teach spelling? Because there are professors who make it clear that text messaging abbreviations are interpreted as a grade of ZERO.

Hi Andy.

Paula, bet Nugz enjoyed the water.

Okay, about time to head for the kitchen. Mandarin chicken over rice tonight.

PA Nana said...

So glad to hear about Granny Riffe. Prayers can move mountains.
Hope Sissy is feeling better too. She needs to heal herself first.

Jo welcome back, glad you had good weather.

Red, you are full if "it." ☺☺

Shopping for children's clothes - yuk! I'd prefer to shop for boys.

BUT... our oldest son thought he should have designer jeans like his classmates. He had a choice of 1 pair of designer or 2 of the Wranglers. Dumb boy chose the designer. He still has expensive taste in clothes. A champagne taste on a beer budget. Neither of his brothers gave us trouble.

With the daughter it was just not too short or revealing. A bit easier.

Hoda said...

Well I just came back from my yoga practice with Shanti Yoga studio and we did the Eagle Pose. I felt good in there and while I have been having back issue of late it flowed well as I modified the poses...I did not have to modify Garudasana, Eagle in Sanskrit...I thought of you all and how much you know the eagles and I had a big smile...we all do our little parts to connect with such an uplifting ideal as what the eagle represents...focus, strength, perseverance, and loyalty...so much Grace also from the flight of the Eagles...I learn a lot from our blog and it is with joy that I feel the humour and the good cheer of our group...It is indeed a Blessed Easter here as I hope it is where you all are...

Hoda said...

Pa at the White Rock nest is an EXCELLENT provider. Since I left for yoga there are three more new fish in the nest and he called out to Ma and she took off and he arrived to feed the two chicks and sit his shift for keeping them warm...a sense of WONDER really.

Hoda, glad your yoga class was eagle-peaceful.

Diann, agree that the hubby has probably been raked over the coals by the lady....bet, tho', that he feels bad AND dumb!
I had one daughter who had the champagne tastes---she still does! But since they are yuppies, she can afford it now to a great extent!

Shopping for children's clothes. I used to go shopping and put the clothes on their beds for them to find when they got home from school. I don't remember any complaints. I knew there would be a time when they would want to have input, though. Especially the girls. Eventually, they would say they wanted to go to the mall.

DanaMo said...

Hedgie/Lynn-Haven't started the cupboards, thought about doing it today, then shopping got in the way.
Shirley-My boys have always just worn whatever I bought and put on the bed too, and I can "try on" for the boys. If it's big on me, it should be close on them. I can only do that with casual clothes I would try to buy a suit that way! LOL
Judie-The shopping was only for ONE daughter. The other kids are all boys and I hardly ever have to shop for them. Plus they are at the age where they shop for themselves. And kudos to you for marking off for spelling. We must still learn the basics!

Hey Lynn - It's nearing the end, but there is a song coming up that is just amazing sung by a lady Mary! She is actually Diana Ross' sister! I just love her.

Linda said...

Quiet tonight!

Lolly said...

Good evening! Oh my, am I ever tired tonight. After mowing we worked on planting caladium bulbs. We wore out before we planted them all. Anyway, I am bathed and ready for bed. I am just too pooped to pop!! LOL

See that there was HP in the nest tonight. Just can not help but wonder and worry about Lib. Poor Lib!

Going to Dallas in the morning. Going to see Zach play soccer and have lunch with them after the game.

Linda said...

Hi Lolly! Sounds like a busy day indeed! T-Ball yesterday, soccer tomorrow! The joy of being a grandparent, right?

Linda said...

I guess those stitches won't hold him back from soccer!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Well, I just have to say that was a spiritual experience. After it was over, I walked up on the stage and everybody asked me if I cried. Andrew had told them I would. Sis got it on video. Will let you all know the second it is available. The official name of the piece he conducted was "On a Hymnsong of Philp Bliss" by David R. Holsinger. Kelsey conducted "Amazing Grace" by Frank Tichell.

This is not easy to type while riding down the WV Turnpike.

Linda said...

Be careful on the road, Sharon!!

How wonderful that must have been tonight and I KNOW you're so proud.

Linda said...

Lynn - Bob is just about finished with his sermon and in a couple minutes Mary is going to sing the song I was talking about......if you can get it.

stronghunter said...

Getting ready to head upstairs for the evening. I will see you tomorrow.
God bless and good night.

Linda said...

Night, Shirley!

Sweet dreams!

Lolly said...

Yes, Linda, the joy of being a grandparent! We have already been to one of Joseph's soccer games. We would go to more but it is always an hour drive to see either family. We do love it! Our two were always active in sports and we went to all games. Always very involved!

Sharon, sounds like a great evening. Will be anxious to see the video.

I've returned - I see I missed the
nest action. We have rain rain rain.
I hope by Sunday it is all rained out!
I have counted 26 heads for Easter dinner - so I want sunshine & warmth.
And no severe storms......
Jenny already placed a home grown
bouquet of flowers on my table.
AND I bought my chocolate/peanut butter
Buckeyes from Cracker Barrel.

I'm baaaack! Just sent out some party pictures, info by email.

Clyde is a character who retired & was a maintenance leader who came to work at Park when he was about 19!I doubt if he's 50 yet.He lived very close to Park & even if he wasn't working, he would always get calls for Help w/something & if home, responded. I think I called him one Sat. AM in winter, as I couldn't unlock the gate---lock was frozen! He fixed it! Since then, I've learned to whack it w/a log or take a lighter to it!He was known for joking around, too. Our current Mnt. Mgr. said that a lady Park Police came to their Office, left her car running & after she entered their bldg., Clyde took it away!!! I should have known better, but a few years ago, there was a BIG, black, woolly spider inside the Vis. Ctr. doorway. Clyde happened to be outside, so I asked for his help. He got large paper cup, put over critter, & then some heavy card to slide under. He then picked it up and chased me all over the Park!(I told that story today!)

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to find an Easter avatar, but did find my Easter bunny bell necklace! Wearing tomorrow to drive people nuts!!! ☺

Mema Jo said...

Sharon - can't wait to see video!
((hugs)) ♥

Linda said...

Jo - 26 is quite a gathering! I hope it is a blessed day for all.

Drying out would be wonderful, too. Spring is coming pretty late for many! It's 33 degrees here right now and we're still wet, too!

NatureNut said...

Wow, what a dinner at Jo's!
Hope some can eat outside & it's not like today!
At least we have tent canopies at Park if necessary.

Sharon, that is so special about Andrew & Kelsey conducting tonight!
Can't wait to see it!

Well, gonna see a little TV, and hit the hay.
If I don't return Pleasant Feather Dreams to all =;>)

hedgie said...

I missed it, Linda.......:( Wow, didn't know that Diana Ross had a performing sister. I can download it, so will do that and watch it later!

Sharon, hope you aren't driving!! Glad the concert went well. The kids looked very professional up there on the box!

Lolly, I hope that caladiums come back every year!

Jo----26! Oh my.....hope they are all bringing the food! And that the weather is good so they can spill outside!! That's a lot of people in your house!

Sounds like Clyde was well-loved at the park, Loretta! And a jokester!! Glad you had fun.

Linda said...

I think I'm going to sign off for the night.

Hugs and prayers for all that need them.

My husband has the stereo blasting in the living room all of a sudden and I better go see what is going on!

Good Night and God Bless Each and Every One!! ♥♥♥

Another prayer request. Just found out that a good friend's grandson, 7 years old, woke up sick this morning, his mom took him to the ER and 6 hours later, he died. They were treatinghim for bacterial meningitis. They are devastated. :*[

Lolly said...

Think I am going to read for a while. I will probably fall asleep.

Just talked with Michael, making plans for tomorrow. He said Zach's stitches are starting to itch. Bless his heart. He can play tomorrow as he is still not actually terrribly "involved" with the game. LOL

Anyway, going to put my nose in my kindall for a while.

BBL

Lynn, She doesn't "perform" so to speak, but she sings at our church there. An amazing voice. It wasn't one of her better nights tonight, but I love the music anyway!! Have a great rest of your night!

OMG Sharon - what a horrible shock.

Will pray that God gives that family the strength to deal with such a devasting loss. I honestly don't know if I could ever live through such a tragedy as that.

Lolly said...

OMG! Certainly will say a prayer for the family. That is devastating!

Lolly said...

No, Lynn, caladiums do not come back. Digging them up and trying to save them year to year is too much of a hassle, and not always successful. We buy new every year. It is Jack's very favorite and close to being a favorite of mine.

Lolly said...

Who is there with Paula this weekend? I missed her saying who was there. Glad she has company. More fun!

hedgie said...

Oh no....from The Weather Channel:
Reports from KMOX Radio of a plane that may have been lifted by a tornado at St. Louis Lambert with people aboard. The same report mentioned crews were having difficulty getting to the plane as it was surrounded by debris. One observer tweeted he saw a plane "pushed 20 yards from its gate" by the winds. Lambert Airport is now closed.
An apparent tornado has blown out windows and taken a roof off, and flipped cars at St. Louis Lambert Int'l Airport. Parts of I-270 are shut down in north side of city due to downed power lines

hedgie said...

Calling Mom now......

Mema Jo said...

Lolly I think I remember that Michael and his girlfriend were going with Paula this weekend.

Hope all is well, Lynn.

hedgie said...

Flat pieces of hail 2 1/2" thick and size of a baseball in Mom's yard.
She and Gail had been out to store earlier when first hail hit...Gail pulled into an automatic carwash bay! Still a few dents on roof of her truck.
But no tornado warnings at their houses.

hedgie said...

Shar---so sorry to hear about your friends' little one. So sad. Prayers for them all. Nasty illness.....often with dire outcome. :(

Lolly, I think I would find a different favorite flower! What a LOT of work....you should be able to get many years enjoyment, not just one!

Goodnight Linda, Loretta, probably Paula--bet she's beat, too!

Hoda said...

Here I am, up in the middle of the night, having thrown myself off by crashing for a nap after dinner. Completely exhausted after touring Asia, Africa and Australia ! I sat near a beautiful fountain while Seth went to North America for a look at the Polar Bears. Cool day with misty rain that kept the stroller and wagon crowd away. I love seeing kiddies and their reaction to the animals, but it sure was nice getting to see so many wonderful creatures without them blocking part of the view !

Thunderstorms hit hard and often between 6 and midnight, so after I surfaced I didn't feel it safe to get on the computer.

Have caught up with your posts of Friday, made notes on prayer requests and am "on it" ! Happy to see that the little old "abandoned" lady has been reunited with hubby. How traumatic that had to be for both. Wanda your story of that kind of experience was a nail biter !!

Y'all had quite the visit with Belle and Truder last night. I remain amazed at just how much time they are spending on the nest. Not complaining, cause it's good to see them !

Getting bleary eyed again. Hope to see the Early Birds in about 4 hours. ZZZZZzzzzzz......

Hi, Everyone,
Checking in late tonight. Hubby & I got most of our "grossery" shopping done, but Wally World was such a zoo, their shelves were not well stocked. As a result, we have to try to get a few things tomorrow.

Sharon, prayers going up for your friend who lost her grandson, and prayers for the whole family. My heart really goes out to them.
Glad that Andrew and Kelsey's program was such a wonderful experience! :o]

Prayers, too, for those feeling less than 100%. Hoping they feel much better soon!

It's getting pretty late here, so think I will call it a day. Judie, thanks for the night light. I'm making sure the porch light is on. The eye-scanner security and WV Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are enabled. Have sweet eagle dreams tonight, everyone, and I'll talk to you in the morning. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
