just a thought here in my little world, I think alot of new people are finding out about the eagle cam on outdoor channel for the first time, and therefor, click on the eagle blog, and might have some valid questions.
Yes, Mits...and we will try to answer them the best we can.
This blog has been active since 2006, and many of the people here have become close friends...we have also visited the nest at NCTC and have had other group events.
Dr Adeclue, some wonderful friendships have been forged on this blog across the miles and this is how we communicate. We hope you stay and join in with us. I have learned so much from this wonderful group and continue to learn more every day!!!
Good Morning! And welcome Dr Adeclue and Laura! Dr Adeclue, we LOVE our eagles. We also have become very good friends. I live in Texas but I have been to the nest and I have met most of these wonderful ladies. They get together quite often and my husband and I plan to visit there again this next fall. So, therefore the personal talk, especially when nothing is going on at the nest. We do welcome newcomers. I was a newcomer two years ago, this group is FANTASTIC. There are some very knowlegeable folks on here when it comes to eagles. So, ask away!
MUST tell you 'NEW FOLKS'--the first time I went to the nest with about 10 other MOMSTERS---& I saw those EAGLES---I TRULY THOUGHT--I HAD DIED & GONE TO HEAVEN!---They really put on a show for us that day---Later we went to the RUMSEY ROOM for dinner that evening & thus---'WE ALL BECAME FRIENDS FOR LIFE'---(that's my story)
I am so totally frustrated with the netbook----the last 2 days have been nothing but a pain in the neck. SO sick of refreshing, and having to reboot. Giving up. Will disappear for awhile---sun too bright in office to get on PC right now--blinding!! Will check momster mail and then shut the stupid thing off.
Covered Bridges where once called "wishing bridges" when you went through you made a wish. Another name for Covered Bridges was "kissing bridges" you snuck a kiss when you went through. Per weather channel.
Norma still have the break out. It would remind one of poison. Dr. can't figure out. The medicine is helping. Not itching as badly. Although it looks like some new places may be starting; I'm hoping not.
Lib finally got it placed at the far end, hung around for a couple of minutes, and took off. I'm sure there's plenty of branches around for them to bring in!
I am so glad the sunshine works for you! Guess what..we have two inches of snow on the ground and it is coming down hard. Laurel just called. She was walking out the door with the boys when Joey heard on TV no school. She got her call 5 minutes later. They waited until the last minute to cancell. Needless to say my boys are happy and Laurel is too!!!
I am jsut popping in to see if yo know anything different than what I see at nest . I have been doing this since 2008. this is not a site I watch often but this pair has touched my heart. I will not be here a lot. but I feel I should let you know. Have a great day. i post my slides and comments on BCATW and Maine
Welcome to all the newcomers. I hope you keep coming back. We do a lot of personal talk on here but we also have gained a lot of knowledge about eagles and especially these two. Please, if anybody has specific questions, ask away and one or many of us will give some answers!
Good morning. I do not belong to your blog but just want to let you know that I check here every once in awhile to see if you have noticed anything I missed at the nest.
Bev....all we know is that there have been three eggs laid. However, they keep disappearing down into the snow. We thought that this last one might be okay, but it too has dropped out of sight. Also, we are puzzled by their behavior. They will sit in the egg cup but they also leave for long periods. Not good!
Welcome Bev....it is nice you drop in and check on Belle and Liberty. We have learned so much from watching this nest over the years. We also go to Open House in Oct. ones that can get there. Some have traveled very far to come to NCTC Open House. We have a wonderful dinner afterwards. Getting to meet each other. Friendships and caring even if only can be in prayer for one another. Is a WONDERFUL THING.
I am a member o f the Maine forum. It is down this morning. I started watching Maine the year of 2oo7 . stayed up all night with everyone back then and watched . It was very sad . since then I started to Sidney at Hancock and got involved with the people and went to Eagle fledge
Bev, a blogger friend on here who passed away last November had a nick name for the Maine forum, used to call it "the forum that never sleeps"..TFTNS....she could always go there and get answers and info for us....we would always ask, what does Maine say:)
I have learned so much about falcons and eagles from the cams and watching them up close and personal. One thing I have learned is to never underestimate these wonderful raptors. she hung in there last night .
Having said that , they will not know if the eggs are viable so ... Watched the eagles at Delta last year incubate for over 50 days before they gave up and even then , they kept coming back
Morning all:) It's 31° and the sun is shining, wind is still gusting, blowing around a lot of snow. Looks like Lib has been bringing in sticks this morning. Put some pictures up on my blog-blizzard of 2010
it is good to see the sunshine on the nest. What is the weather prediction for the next few days? Any hope of snow melting? I think we will find three eggs when the snow melts.

A number of years ago, when I lived in Ohio, I kept hearing a rooster crowing somewhere in my subdivision. Eventually, I found the source of the crowing and talked with the lady who lived in the house there.
She said that she had an egg that had been refrigerated for some time. She took it out of the refrigerator and it hatched. I do not know any other details. I have to assume she knew it was a ferlile egg and did something to incubate it. Of course, it was not ever frozen as far as I know, but I thought it was interesting.
I have tried to research incubation of eagle eggs, but haven't found anything really helpful out there.
Lindan - I don't know why Lib isn't incubating...maybe he knows more than we do....or Belle for that matter. I think she must have more of a maternal instinct to come back and keep incubating.
Thanks for the answer Paula. Just so frustrating watching and there's nothing we can do...Hopefully this snow will melt and they can try for a fourth egg.
Shirley Dr. Sharpie showed us eggs he was incubating. Paula can tell you more about that. It was extremely exciting. He put a light on it and we could see the chick in there. Channel Islands were he was replacing live eggs with wooden eggs. Taking the eggs back and hatching them. Then bringing them back to nest. Taking the wooden eggs that the bald eagles had been laying on and replaced them now with chicks. They raised the chicks. Of course last year was a bad year for intruders.
MORNIN' DIANN!---I have a similar problem!!---We have so much SNOW I cannot get out to my feeders either!---Have been throwing seed on the frozen drifts!---They seem to be enjoying it!----Hopefully we will be able to reach our feeders soon!
I can't believe any of our eggs are viable. Wish someone could go up and retrieve them, maybe then they will take a break and start over in a couple of weeks.
yes, Paula . It s a site of falcon lovers but we have eagles ,Owls, etc. on there also. they are keeping track of this site.
I know that in the early stages, eggs can be left . the sun is shining down and it is protected from the wind(Look at my eternal optimism)
At Columbus, Ohio last year, Scout(falcon)did not incubate one of the eggs for a long time . I will have to go back and see how many days and it hatched. We were all shocked .
Just learned that the meeting at church tonight has been cancelled. Had not made the cheesecakes. Guess we will be eating a lot of strawberries. Had not dipped them in chocolate, so that is good. I can eat lots of strawberries....can handle that.
I can make Jack a one egg cake and he can have strawberry shortcake. He would like that.
Bev, your comments and thoughts are very nice to come home to this morning, I just got home from a night shift...can't get to the blog and the nest fast enough !
Norma I missed the turkeys. I agree, Snow and Fun do not go well in a sentence ! and vacation ? What's that, it was some other lucky 911 person.... I asked for two days next week and got denied :( Big Woof !!
MORNIN' MEGAN!---I agree with you-- ---This whole week has just been a BLUR!!---Pay to get shoveled out & WHOA!---MORE SNOW than the day before!! COOL FLOWERS!
Margy, my grandsons would disagree with you this morning. They are having fun in the snow this morning. I would post pictures of our snow here, but do not think you would appreciate them. ☺
yes Paula...little round things that are a little rough no the surface, and yes that is what you see flopping in the breeze from the branches.... open up they are like, well, fluff, nice fluff !
Bev, a lot of us have keyboards that make mistakes. Usually we ignore them..UNLESS it is just too funny and then we never let you forget it. This is all done with much love.
Paula, if someone can get the egg from the nest, my oldest grandson has incubated hundreds of birds and hatched and raised them...then turned them loose where they would thrive. Ducks, geese, quail, all sorts of song birds, etc. He is a volunteer at NCTC, hoping to get a full time job there. He has his BS in Environmental Science. Loves all kinds of birds, in fact, his very first word was BIRD. Said it while at GG's. She would carry him around the yard and show him all the bird nests. One day, as she was showing him a bird, he said B-I-R-D! Thrilled GG:)
don't have but about 3 mi to travel, it was the first 1/20th of a mile that got me knew Pendleton downwards was blocked up with snow earlier, took the upward route snow pack too high, needed veh like Kathryn's - got stuck all right
The little seeds that come out of the Sycamore fruit are a little like dandelion seeds...an absolute nuisance at GG's house. They get all over her back deck and she has to sweep it off before she can sit out there:( Tuscarora Creek runs through the edge of her property and is lined with Sycamore. Maybe someday a pair of eagles will nest there. Wow, that would be super!
I called office said I would be late, and if anyone was close could they send someone with a shovel (to go with my shovel) two city pd officers showed up, they got stuck at the far end that I was trying to get to Tow truck 40 minutes later got us both out that's my story and I have to stick to it
Well, darn, hear hubby having snowblower issues out there. Gonna have to get dressed and go shovel. My conscience just won't let me sit here in the warm while he's out here trying to get the lane clearer. I am so exhausted, and I know he is too. Wind is really howling, just had a 20 mph gust. Hope to be back later....
Well, Margy, we are very happy that you are safe and sound at home now.
Snow still coming down here but it is very fine and not accumulating very fast. However they said our snow would really be in the afternoon, so we will see what happens.
4-wheel drive here, just not high enough above the snow packed/drifted part of the street tried to come in the bottom end this morning, it WAS blocked up.
JUDIE, understand about wanting to protect our little "FAMILY"...I bristled too, but, for once I was able to be quiet. I am bad far too often on here. Thank you for thinking of us. We do love you:) And you do bite!
main post office open here... didn't have my stuff ready, put them in the pick up slot at the box on our street...time will tell, I think, a bunch of late arriving Valentine's cards in the works
I found out I can get the live feed on FireFox again if I disable my ADBLock;
But you wouldn't believe how many pop ups and pop unders and just interfering ads that the software blocks. I can even view snopes.com without picking up ads; so which way ???????
Belle was just getting up from the nest and Lib came in when I started watching. Her instincts seem to be to try to hatch that last one, but his seem to be treating it like it is time to start over.
Now, if I look on full screen it appears that one of the earlier eggs might be emerging from the snow next to #3.
Personally, I think it would be best if they abandoned the first clutch and started over. I'm anxious to see what they do though.

I first met Judie and her husband at an eagle release this summer. You can see the pics on my blog if you go way back.
Then I met many of the other folks in October at open house.
And we got together in January to observe eagles at Conowingo.
OMG! Where is that branch going to be placed?
Mema Jo, I am so sorry about your kitty!!! Good long life, but still so hard to see them go!! Love and hugs!!
How much snow did ya'll get up there?
Norma still have the break out. It would remind one of poison. Dr. can't figure out. The medicine is helping. Not itching as badly. Although it looks like some new places may be starting; I'm hoping not.
By the way, there is a Dr. Ann Declue in Hagerstown, MD.
Lib finally got it placed at the far end, hung around for a couple of minutes, and took off. I'm sure there's plenty of branches around for them to bring in!
Lolly Weather Channel doesn't sound so nicely for Dallas, Tx. Going to be snowing pretty badly it shows.

Did look like an egg and then wiggled down on it.

Why why why are they sitting in the nest now????? I guess they are torn on what to do. Guess we could pray for a miracle?
Have both eagles been seen together? I want to know that both are okay.
Welcome to all the newcomers. I hope you keep coming back. We do a lot of personal talk on here but we also have gained a lot of knowledge about eagles and especially these two. Please, if anybody has specific questions, ask away and one or many of us will give some answers!
Belle is back on the nest, you just can't toss that instinct aside...
JO!---I finally figured out TIGRESS was your cat----I am truly sorry!---It is so painful to lose a pet!---sending good thought to you!

Bev....all we know is that there have been three eggs laid. However, they keep disappearing down into the snow. We thought that this last one might be okay, but it too has dropped out of sight. Also, we are puzzled by their behavior. They will sit in the egg cup but they also leave for long periods. Not good!
Bev, everyone is welcome here!
Hi bev. Welcome.
There have been three eggs, but they seem to have been lost in the snow. It has been a difficult season for our eagles and for us, too.
Stop in more often.
wind is sure strong there today.
Hi Bev, I check Maine everyday:)..love that nest

Yes, Lolly. They were together this morning.
I only bite when my "family" seems under attack.
I could not see the egg earlier this morning, Lindan, but, you know, that eagle is closer to the egg cup than any of us.
I posted some pics on my blog this morning. You are welcome to look.
a lot of us have been watching all those cams too, Bev....
Hi Judie,
We are family, aren't we?
Bev, we watch many if not all of those cams you mentioned, but this is our "home base".

I see the egg. Why won't dad lay on it while mom leaves for a bit? I don't understand why he's not taking his turn...
Yep. There's the egg. I got a pic.
Hi Bev - OK the falcon forum, got it.
Yep Bev a lot of us watched the Delta nest too. It was sad how she would cry out. It was a lonnnnggg
50 days before they gave up.
Nice having you come in ....come back ( :
Lindan - I don't know why Lib isn't incubating...maybe he knows more than we do....or Belle for that matter. I think she must have more of a maternal instinct to come back and keep incubating.
He certainly has never had a problem incubating before...this is all new to us.
Posted the egg pic.
I am afraid that when the snow melts they will try to incubate the three eggs and therefore no second clutch.
That must be an egg. Maybe Lib was telling her it is time for a snuggle LOL. Maybe a 4th egg on the way. Never say , never.
Some of your snow could be trucked into the Olympics here in Canada
I have chores now but will be back. fingers crossed for this pair.
HOpe you all stay warm and safe
Thanks for the answer Paula. Just so frustrating watching and there's nothing we can do...Hopefully this snow will melt and they can try for a fourth egg.

thanks, Bev, wish we could send the snow, I'd voulnteer the stuff I have here.
MORNIN' DIANN!---I have a similar problem!!---We have so much SNOW I cannot get out to my feeders either!---Have been throwing seed on the frozen drifts!---They seem to be enjoying it!----Hopefully we will be able to reach our feeders soon!
I thought yesterday that Lib was afraid of knocking snow in the nest bowl. the nest bowl seemed to be more of moms shape .
But who know LOL
Is it just me or do you have to keep refreshing the cam
I can't believe any of our eggs are viable. Wish someone could go up and retrieve them, maybe then they will take a break and start over in a couple of weeks.
Mine is running OK, Bev. It does pause now and again
Hint - right click on the live feed, go to settings, click on the icon with the monitor, and uncheck hardware acceleration
WHOA BEVE!---How much are you folks paying for a load of SNOW??
yes, Paula .

Wondering if she heard about my saga on Pendleton Drive on the way to work...
got you wondering now
while we are waiting on the eagles
Sissy is Bev:)
And it started on Groundhog day!!!
enjoyed the commentary about the nest activity this morning, thanks folks.
Good pictures Shirley
Saw an egg when Belle got off the nest this last time this morning, now the nest cup is crowded with other snow debris I guess
BEV...Our SISSY's name is BEV:)
We have a Bev, it is Sissy
Tried to say, we have a Beverly. Blogger cop got me.
No other bev logging in here, but could be on a different blog!
Question for anyone - does a sycamore tree have little gumballs?
I agree with LOLLY, wish our pair would just abandon the nest now and go on another honeymoon and then start all over again;)
My name is Beverly but my name on here is Eagle-Eyed's Sissy!
Well I don't much care for the wind report Mits, but it is what it is so:
AMEN ☺
thanks Paula for the HInt.
thanks for the welcome everyone
I must run but I will keep my fingers and toes crossed(LOL)
Just so you know, sometimes my computer does not type so well LOL
that's an interesting rooster tale Shirley...very interesting
Margy - egg is still right in the middle of the egg cup...the small, thin stick in the middle of the nest is pointing right to it
Yes, sycamores get little round brown 'fruits' about an inch in diameter.
Hey, Bev, we all blame it on our computer :)
Margy, did you get stuck last night?
yes Paula...little round things that are a little rough no the surface, and yes that is what you see flopping in the breeze from the branches....
open up they are like, well, fluff, nice fluff !
Yes, sycamore trees have gum ball thingies.
Sycamore Tree Fruit
Bev, a lot of us have keyboards that make mistakes. Usually we ignore them..UNLESS it is just too funny and then we never let you forget it. This is all done with much love.
TIS' AGREED!----we have a BEV blogging on here today! ho!
Paula, are you looking at the little dingleberry on the left of the nest at about 8 o'clock? I have been wondering that is.
That is not where I thought dingleberries grew~!!!
Sorry, Sissy, forgot about you! Well, really did not forget about YOU, just your name. Knew no one who blogged as Bev.
Alright, Margy....what's the story?
I see it Paula, the egg, it just looked really clear when Belle first got off :(
Well, ask about sycamore balls and you shall receive !!
I think at 8 o'clock it is Sharon
I really really like sycamore trees, always have, always will
I put a pic on the EM blog with an arrow pointing at the egg.
Hello again, and welcome to Bev, Lauara and dradeclue.
The drive is plowed and we are heading out to dig cars out.
We used to have a sycamore tree out front when I was little, and it was huge. We called it the "monkey ball tree"
I didn't see the egg :(
NO, Daisy is NOT sedated!!! Just kidding...she is going nuts though!
That's a great story about your grandson, Wanda, he belongs at NCTC !
Yes, I did
Thanks for all the info on the sycamore balls/fruits/fluff. I learned something new today!
So, tell us about it Margy!
I can't remember the SPLIT coming as often as it is today!---We must be some 'fast talkers' ho!
Glad you got unstuck, Margy!
don't have but about 3 mi to travel, it was the first 1/20th of a mile that got me
knew Pendleton downwards was blocked up with snow earlier,
took the upward route
snow pack too high, needed veh like Kathryn's -
got stuck all right
The little seeds that come out of the Sycamore fruit are a little like dandelion seeds...an absolute nuisance at GG's house. They get all over her back deck and she has to sweep it off before she can sit out there:( Tuscarora Creek runs through the edge of her property and is lined with Sycamore. Maybe someday a pair of eagles will nest there. Wow, that would be super!
I called office said I would be late, and if anyone was close could they send someone with a shovel (to go with my shovel)
two city pd officers showed up, they got stuck at the far end that I was trying to get to
Tow truck 40 minutes later got us both out
that's my story and I have to stick to it
I'm back....for a few. Still bright in here.
Yep, Sissy is Bev but she doesn't use it for her blog name!
Margy---what happened on your street???
Glad you got unstuck, Margy. Kathryn has been appreciating the 4-wheel drive recently.
Those little sycamore balls do blow around in the wind, don't they?
It was really interesting to see the flock of geese fly by below the nest earlier this morning.
almost 40 mins or so, no eagles, egg alone
:(
yeah, Shirley, I love seeing when the geese fly low and past the nest.
I made an avatar . Is it showing
4-wheel drive here, just not high enough above the snow packed/drifted part of the street
tried to come in the bottom end this morning, it WAS blocked up.
Bev, your avatar is showing and it's cool! Welcome to this great crazy group! later gators!
(notice I put great first)
JUDIE, understand about wanting to protect our little "FAMILY"...I bristled too, but, for once I was able to be quiet. I am bad far too often on here. Thank you for thinking of us. We do love you:)
And you do bite!
Well, now I must go. I enjoyed chatting here today.
Keep smiling adn those of you with snow days.
Enjoy, Have a glass of wine and chill
Yes Lolly, thanks
and I think snow and fun WOULD be okay in a sentence where you and the little fellows are ☺
And Megan, don't forget, we are also CLOWNS...ask Lolly:)

Nobody messes with our Judie!! I am glad she is on our side.
Oh, Megan....heart is breaking for you. So wish we could help out.
See you Megan...hope it goes fast and well
Beautiful avatar, Bev.
Margy, hummers were getting stuck in the district...with the height of the snow here, it is difficult for even SUV's and AWD's
Wow! That IS an awesome avatar, new Bev ☺
We will be happy to see you when you visit again ☺
main post office open here...
didn't have my stuff ready, put them in the pick up slot at the box on our street...time will tell, I think, a bunch of late arriving Valentine's cards in the works
Kathryn might not have been able to manage it either, Margy. That's why I went out and tried to knock down that mound of snow.
well thanks Mits, that makes me feel better ☺
The two city officers were so nice.
got to work at 1 am instead of midnight
CNN showing Dallas snow.
Just did a report from Fredericksburg.
Like I said earlier....we do not let anyone forget something! lol
Now, Wanda, I said...you would be piling out like clowns. I did not say you were clowns. OR did I?
I read hummers and immediately thought... Hummingbirds ☺
I am going to scram and head for the pillows and blankies before the next SPLIT WHICH IS COMING SOON
see you all later, be careful, hope this is a good day for all
xoxox ☺ ♥
Avatar is great, Bev
I'm going to put a few pics on the album, Jo will need to rearrange us again
xox ttfn
have a good rest Margy
Rest well and long, Margy:)
HP heard!
Funny stuff this A.M.:
I found out I can get the live feed on FireFox again if I disable my ADBLock;

I think I hear Eagle Love!!!!
