Yay! New thread! Good afternoon everyone! Sharon needs to work on the steps for the Egg Roll/Wiggle Wiggle dance!!!

Mits said...

what's up, Sharon?

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

And she is not afraid to use it, right Mits? ESPN that is!

ceil said...

Hey hey that is my job to say new thread.
Afternoon all. Great story about the Hoover.
Also about the homemade snow shoe rescue. Margy will be glad to hear about that.
Prayers for Greg. Doesn't sound promising.

Mits said...

that't right, watch it all the time:), you know I was kidding, right?

Mits said...

just wanted to see if anyone was paying close attention.

Mits said...

well sooooory, Ceil:), no it does not sound good, I had read about it on WMDT yesterday, at the time, did not know he was an MSMU graduate.

ceil said...

Happy Shrove Tuesday. Did not wear my beads today I am not ready for Lent to start. Pancake dinner at the Lutheran Church is cancelled.

Mits said...

yeah, Lent has snuck up on us....got to go to the store and get the stuff to make pancakes yet, it is freezing out there...don't feel like going.

ceil said...

I agree it is cold out there. Walked to the store and then walked to meet MM at the restaurant. Had hot chocolate it was good.

ceil said...

Just checked on the nest. Windy and my live feed keeps stopping. Shut it down

Mits said...

yeah my live feed has been bad today...worked ok with FF, but FF caused a whole slew of other problems...so shut it down...BTW FF did move Favs over to their bookmarks, but it moved everything I had when I had Comcast, not Verizon, have not had Comcast since 08.

floralgirl said...

Eagle is calling out.

floralgirl said...

Calling out repeatedly.

Mits said...

talk about strange and bizarre, just put live feed back up, eagle started to call out, feed froze, and audio of commercial came on and eagles call out was magnified like it was a dozen eagles calling...really strange.

carolinabeachmom said...

Hello all. Finally got the heart to checkin on the nest to find the parent sitting there screeching her lungs out. Does everyne still think there is a third viable ewgg in there?

paula eagleholic said...

Someone wants a break! Eagle on the nest calling out,

Hmmm, calls are continuing...

carolinabeachmom said...

That poor eagle. Has a funny clicking in her call too. They sure have had a hard time of it.

paula eagleholic said...

Candy - we have only seen 2 eggs. Only Time will tell if the first of those 2 is viable.

carolinabeachmom said...

Paula, you have seen 2 eggs! Do you think they are starting over again then? How has the weather been up there lately. Hopefully there will be no more snow to challenge them.
Wind sounds very strong tho.

carolinabeachmom said...

I couldn't get the live feed in school today, but have been checking in on them during school from time to time. Someone is turning deaf ear to her calls for sure.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

We have a loud eagle in the nest. The pic and sound are better.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

So she has been calling out for 20 minutes or more, huh?

paula eagleholic said...

Megan - cool snowshoe story, thanks for the link.

paula eagleholic said...

Candy - one of the eggs is the one she laid last Tuesday in the snowstorm. The second one was laid this past Saturday.

paula eagleholic said...

I would guess there is something nearby she doesn't like this close...or she is really calling for a break!

hedgie said...

Candy, 4th egg was laid a few days ago. A new dadster, JT, who seems to be a real expert, feels that it is indeed a 4th one to this clutch, rather than the beginning of a new clutch. He says there are several weeks between clutches if that were to occur.

carolinabeachmom said...

Well I just hope everything is ok.Thanks Paula.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I tried to raise the window so the million starlings out here could hear Belle but the window is locked. Dernit! That would have been funny!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Our girl is not happy!

carolinabeachmom said...

And thanks Lynn for the info. So the poor Belle has had four eggs this year. I do hope and pray that she at least gets these two.

carolinabeachmom said...

Megan, I see that you and your husband must have survived those terrible storms you had up there. I sure hope your greenhouse did too. You two seemed as dedicated as Liberty and Belle are.

stronghunter said...

I like the idea of opening the window so the starlings could hear.

floralgirl said...

Darn, went to bus stop, can't believe she is still yelling.
Thanks, Candy, Gh is looking good.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

What in the world?

stronghunter said...

Sounds like Hidey!!

carolinabeachmom said...

So glad to hear that Megan.

stronghunter said...

My school is on a 2-hour delay tomorrow.

stronghunter said...

Somebody commented that I would need a map to find my way there.

stronghunter said...

One local high school--the one Will and Susan graduated from--has roof damage in the auditorium and is closed the rest of the week.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Just saw something fly by the nest, not sure if it was Lib but she sure got a lot louder.

floralgirl said...

I saw that too.

magpie said...

Oh Wow - I could finally see the two eggs, see AND hear the wiggle wiggle and also see the swaying sycamore balls, and hear Belle still calling out...it is Belle right?

Nope no pics of the new 'do
but I was sure you would enjoy seeing my Megan Flowers from last June ☺

magpie said...

So glad our tree does not sway like NBG's -
that nearly 2,000 pound nest is not swaying one bit

Lynne2 said...

DINNER!!

carolinabeachmom said...

Dinner just arrived, but the provider is eating it

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Brought her some food, she is happy now!

Lynne2 said...

get on those eggs!

Lynne2 said...

TWO EGGS!!!

Mauley said...

Good afternoon dear ones, the suspense is killing me. It looks like I will have to stop the lurking and communicate. Mits' husband has to have it right on the nail, "It is what it is!" I am praying for just one little Spunky or Hidey. We'll see. The college shut down today. Happens rarely. Catching up on laundry. Have a blessed rest of the afternoon and evening dear hearts. mauley donna

floralgirl said...

@*## cam stopped...yes, I was still watching, thanks for asking.

magpie said...

Totally inspiring....
Liberty has stepped up to the (nest) plate!
Go Dad !

Hi Donna....and all here now ☺

stronghunter said...

Missed the action. My phone rang. Kathryn is going to be late tonight--they are very busy.

Sharon or Sissy, somebody said her husband puts glass in trucks. Kathryn's Tom does that, too, along with car glass.

magpie said...

Man oh Man the Winds!
I'm pinching myself here, no add and no question and I'm still watching !

carolinabeachmom said...

My live camera went off shortly after Liberty arrived with dinner too. Never saw the switch, but am glad to hear that it happened and now all is quiet again.

floralgirl said...

Hey Margy, did you see the homemade snowshoe story in today's Journal? I posted a link on the old thread.

Lynne2 said...

Me Shirley, Steve works for Pilkington. He happened to call just now...they are a MESS with orders and he won't be home anytime soon :(

magpie said...

Absolutely Megan!

I can't watch much and type....
that story did NOT make today's paper copy of the paper.....
thank you so much! They look just like the ones I saw !
Great story, love the rucksack detail too

THANK YOU !!!

Lynne2 said...

he doesn't install, he is the warehouse lead.

Lynne2 said...

wiggle wiggle goes the eagle

paula eagleholic said...

Just saw something fly under the nest as well, plus a couple of small visitors fluttering around!

magpie said...

Mits
Prayers of course for Greg Forte and his family
I read the link, does not sound encouraging.....
thank you for asking us to share with prayer

magpie said...

My luck is running out on live feed

Sounds like a rattlesnake there!

Oh to have the sun on the live feed that we have on the still cam !

Judie said...

Just back to say hi. Sounds as if everyone has had a reasonably good day.

Trying to catch up. BBL

paula eagleholic said...

So, did Belle eat and then fly off, or fly off with the eats!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

She flew off with the eats.

magpie said...

The demise of the icicle - -
nice to see the eagle avatar Paula

magpie said...

Glad they did not lock you IN the classroom Judie

I'm thinking Belle TOOK the chow Paula

magpie said...

I think the question on the live feed, (for me) should be "Are you still Trying to Watch ?

YES!

paula eagleholic said...

CRC finally confirmed yesterday evening that chick #2 did not survive. Apparently they did a quick "chick check" this afternoon on the remaining chick as well. Mom happily back brooding the little rascal :)

stronghunter said...

Dear me, somebody tried to melt snow and ice on a roof with a propane torch. House burned down. Well, I guess the snow melted.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks, Sharon and Margy. Yup, the icicle melted and fell off...

magpie said...

tough news, Paula, but glad the other little eaglet is doing well

magpie said...

sorry Lynne and Shirley, that your loved ones have to work late...
hope it translates into more $$

stronghunter said...

I am still having trouble with my live feed freezing everything up. Maybe I should unfreeze it with a propane torch?

magpie said...

That's crazy Shirley...
Happens sometimes too when folks try to thaw out frozen pipes esp underneath mobile homes

magpie said...

I've got live feed down so you all keep talking about it...

stronghunter said...

Hope so, too, Margy. Kathryn's vet bill was steep, so it's already spent, I'm afraid. Tiny bottle of eye drops was $54, and that was only the medication.

stronghunter said...

Some problems can't be solved with a propane torch.

magpie said...

The trip back to old thread to pick up Megan's link to the Snowshoe Story is well worth it!
At 1:40 pm on old thread

and the request for prayer which Mits posted, at 9:52 am

stronghunter said...

Heat tape is a good thing for pipes under mobile homes.

magpie said...

incoming and outgoing, Shirley
the $$
hope the eye drops work, it will be well worth it, surely....

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Duct tape and WD40 is all you ever need. If it is stuck, use WD40. If it is loose, use duct tape.

magpie said...

yes, and sometimes a low watt light bulb well away from any insulation
Sometimes the heat tape light is ON but it really is not working.
Ask someone that knows.....ME -
I have spent many an hour underneath a mobile home with a hairdryer, small enough to scootch under there. I DO NOT miss that !

stronghunter said...

We are supporting the local economy, just keeping the money flow going.

magpie said...

Belle is getting some much needed flying time...
and Liberty is getting some much needed Roosting Time!
It is a fine work of art what they have done with that nest cup ♥

magpie said...

oftentimes I have worked a pile of overtime hours, Shirley...only to find I needed a BIG car repair...brakes, rotors, tires...
endless cycle

magpie said...

I just love my Megan Flowers!
All that grunting and groaning, and shoveling.... Megan
keeps people like me, very happy♥

MEGAN....IS YOUR MAILBOX FREE TO RECEIVE MAIL ???
I owe you a Birds & Blooms!

floralgirl said...

Mailbox is just fine.

Lolly said...

Good afternoon. Just heard that we are going to get up into the 60's tomorrow. Hallelujah!

So, Belle was really loud this afternoon, huh? Was she upset about something or just wanting Lib to pay some attention to her?

Jack drove his little "pickemup" truck to the back yard this afternoon and pulled up into an upright postition the tree/shrub that fell over. It is now propped up with a 2 by 4. So, many tree down or injured around here.

Lynne2 said...

OK, who wants to come over and shovel out one of these for Daisy....I'm just too damn tired...

Dog Track

ceil said...

There go the geese

Lolly said...

Two eggs in view.

magpie said...

so glad to hear your daffydils are pushing up the dirt Lolly, and
nice work by Jack and the pickemup truck ♥

Megan I didn't really mean that you should have to work so hard for everyone else's delight...that didn't sound the way I was thinking about it

the most beautiful view of proud Papa and egglets just a minute ago !

Lolly said...

An eagle left and an eagle returned. That's all I know, and I am sticking with it. Who left and who returned is beyond me. lol

floralgirl said...

No worries, Margy, I knew what you meant:)

magpie said...

and I didn't even see it, just saw what I saw when I did, someone else no doubt will know !
I sure enjoyed the live feed for a little while this afternoon, the sounds and sights....

floralgirl said...

Lib left, Belle is on eggs. I think... trying to make dinner and watch.

magpie said...

so I guess Belle was inspecting Liberty's work then! thanks Megan

ttfn
got to take care of a few things here.
I have a lot of ice cream to go through tonight, and neighbor lady will get some too !
oh, one of my nicknames once was "Miggles"
I kind of feel like that with all this curly hair ☺

Judie said...

Ah, Shirley, you too can be a stand-up comic in your next life. Propane torch? Stuuuuupid! Sorry the med/vet cost so much. Hope is helps and Luna is better quickly.

Liked being locked out of the classroom. Wish it had lasted 75 minutes.

magpie said...

have heard that there is a Butterfly Garden at NCTC but never really found out for sure about it....
something to investigate about

magpie said...

Birds & Blooms calls them Flying Flowers ☺

magpie said...

That is a FANTASTIC site, Lynne, I am weak on identifying many of them, one of the favorites I saw near the fish hatchery not far from here was the Giant Swallowtail

magpie said...

that was BEFORE I had a digital camera :(

stronghunter said...

Love that dog run, Lynne. Sent the link to my kids.

Mits said...

loved the dog run and butterfly site....Wanda and GG are butter-fly mommas:)

Lynne2 said...

I am so anxious for SPRING !!!!! I love butterflies and have lots of milkweed to plant...and my butterfly bush we've dug out from under the snow each storm to try to keep it from crushing. It's only very little.

hey Lynn...just turned on the Classic Country Station on fios and guess what...Johnny Cash with Riders in the Sky!!!

magpie said...

Lots of wild orange butterfly weed here Lynne...and some but less yellow ones
and I got a butterfly/milkweed plant from Megan at Market last year...
yellow, my favorite color !

magpie said...

also have some wild swamp milkweed, beautiful pink color...
with loads of butterflies around them, not far from here
last summer...

magpie said...

Lynne...were you around for Wanda's and GG's monarch butterfly fledging adventures ?

magpie said...

Loretta is very good at id'ing butterflies, and Lolly also ☺

paula eagleholic said...

Love the dog track...my dogs have almost made theirs a circle...

A snowblower could make one of those...

paula eagleholic said...

Hi, Everyone!
Trying to catch up a bit on the blog.

MITS, prayers for sure for your friend, Greg, and for his family! Very strange circumstances regarding his disappearance. Prayers for those searching for him, too!

Getting here pretty late in the day. Hit the road running this morning, and have crossed almost everything off my 'to do' list. Got 3 loads of wash done so far, went to the P.O. twice (MTBR later), went to the bank, and got new sheets on the bed. Phew! I'm done, for a while.

Guess what?! After going to the Post Office early this morning, the mailman brought paperwork from the EDD to renew my unemployment! Made a second trip to the P.O. to get it mailed in QUICKLY! YIPPEE!!

Just about 30 minutes ago, about the time Hubby got home from work, we were surprised to see a single Band-Tailed Pigeon in our yard, on the table, eating LOTS of bird seed!
Haven't seen one of them in a while, and last saw a pair of them. This guy was alone. Gosh, he's huge! (Almost 14 inches long~~looks nearly the size of a chicken!) Our Mourning Doves were kinda intimidated. Hope the big guy returns, maybe with a friend!

BTW, since it says in the Scriptures that we're to "Help others with the same help we ourselves have received," am praying that you guys get some of the weather we're having, and SOON!
It's 80 degrees here today and sunny~~almost too good to be true!!
Want to send it your way!!

Lynne2 said...

I was here for the Monarch that Wanda and Gene raised!

I sent away for free milkweed seeds and also gathered some from Kent Island (on the Bay) and from Loch Raven Reservoir where we fish. I guess I ought to plant the seeds soon...Megan??

Lolly said...

Will post some pictures when more open up. I actually picked some and have them in the house in a vase. They were open in the garden with the gazebo that we can not see from inside the house. There are many flowers about to open so will get a picture soon.

magpie said...

Band-tailed Pigeon, have to look that one up Andy !
thanks for offering to share your weather, sounds like a great "got-done" day for you

I am glad to say I was able to put 6 pics on the Momsters album, including two good ones with egg views

Margy we got your card today also. Thank you.

magpie said...

I have written all those names down AGAIN for Easter time...coming up in six weeks ☺

Hope Buddy did not gloat! xo lol

I have to tell you all that I ran out of Valentine's cards and couldn't get to the store to get more so I know I missed a few of you....but not in my heart, you all are ALWAYS there ♥

magpie said...

I think a lot of kids are going to lose out on their Spring/Easter break, and maybe even still have to extend the school year.
Bet lots of grandparents are getting more grandchildren time through all this
and maybe some teenagers are earning some babysitting money ☺

from the road I saw beautiful GG sitting at the kitchen window around 3:30 this afternoon ☺ ♥

How very special of you to get her some sweaters rather than go for your computer...
Angel here on earth ♥

hedgie said...

Margy, don't know if new school calendar law goes in to effect this year or for '10-'11 year. If not, they can't extend past June 7th.

Taping Westminster for weekend viewing. Mens short program skating tonight. Plus Idol and Lost---thank goodness for DVR!!

hedgie said...

I cleaned house today, so I am tired! Still want to throw in a load of laundry, but will wait til I take my bath so I can throw in my comfy jeans.

magpie said...

understand Hedgie..going to be a real challenge for teachers everywhere hereabouts !
Saw where Shirley posted of some auditorium damage at the school Will and Kathryn went to...wonder how our schools inspection is coming along

magpie said...

guess I better start knocking down some ice cream . 3 hrs and 37 mins until Lent starts

Judie said...

Back again. Dinner over.

Lynne, thanks for the butterfly site. Looked and got hooked. With all the damage to shrubs from snow may try to replace with many more butterfly attracting plants. Can watch butterflies for hours.

Maybe someone can fill me in on CRC Savannah. I take it neither she nor Derek can fly any significant distance. Is their nesting area enclosed (similar to NZ)? If neither can fly any distance, how is food obtained? Bad timing. Missed feeding times.

Checked CRC quickly when I got home. Saw a man, maybe a second one, approaching the nest area. Guess they were the ones who confirmed second chick did not survive.

Off to watch some tv. BBL

paula eagleholic said...

Judie - the folks there at CRC supply the fresh fish daily for the eagles.

TH and PH could have their eggs any day now. WE nest is still off the air, they are working on repairing yet. The nest is in real need of nestorations...I am wondering when they are gonna get with it...

paula eagleholic said...

I've been watching the short programs also...

Lynne2 said...

isn't it some sort of sin to NOT finish ice cream?

Lolly said...

Before I go I just have to say that I am now in love with Ragdoll cats. I have always, until now, had Siamese. Our last Siamese, my most favorite cat ever. looked a lot like a Ragdoll, only with short hair. She had the light grey points. She was like a puppy, followed us everywhere. Anyway, I think the Ragdolls are beautiful.

Really must get busy with slides.

paula eagleholic said...

stronghunter said...

We should all show up at Margy's and have our own Mardi Gras celebration and gorge ourselves on ice cream. We can eat until midnight!

paula eagleholic said...

Update from CRC on the chick removal -

The keepers entered the bald eagle aviary because there was a fight between two of the resident eagles. Looking out for the safety of the eaglet they removed the adult eagle that started the fight. If you watched the camera later in the day you would see that Savannah came right back to the nest and even fed the baby. ...A little later Derek also joined her on the nest. Thank you all for your concern.

hedgie said...

There is a very strange pinkish glow to the eastern sky....weird.

magpie said...

thanks Paula...that's pretty scary...the fight, wonder how often that kind of thing will happen
Can you imagine working at a Center like that...

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie it can't be the sunset at this time of evening. Is there a fire near by.

OK, we are back. No aliens. Not sure what it is. I would say it's some kind of glow from the City (Baltimore) but I can't imagine you'd be seeing it all the way over where you guys are. It's not quite as pimk as it was the first time I looked.
