WHOA!!---I hope I didn't lose you EAGLE MOMSTERS on this call over!!----YELL--if I am on the wrong track!!!---I think I was born on the 'wrong track'!!---'LIVE' is GOOD!!
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---MITS--& WANDA!!---Our schools are closed here today---temp is 32°--Roads can't be too bad---Paper Person delivered paper!!..and that's a good thing...
As you may have heard, the other day I went to the National Zoo to say goodbye to Tai Shan. I put together a video of the visit, and thought you might like to see it -- especially if you can't see Tai before he leaves for China.
The video is high quality, so it's a bit large -- 26MB. Here's the link. I'll leave it up for a little while:
MORNIN' LOLLY--SHARON & LYNN2!!--Hey! I remember when TAI'S MOMMA gave birth---WOW!--That little 'teenie--tiny' bear just shot out!!---EXCITING THING TO SEE!!
Thanks for new thread and callover. Dana, since losing her job at the bank, Carolyn has been working for John Orem. He has a bailbond business and real estate--primarily buys foreclosed homes, rehabs and resells, or manages them for the banks that hold mortgages. A real loser, for sure.
Lisa is such a good friend to us...we should get a ROAD TRIP up to visit Blackwater and make sure she will be there. Kinda like our trip to Patuxent, with Loretta leading the way.
Well, Jack got my laptop back working. It was frozen up with a silver screen. Could not turn it off, so he unplugged it and removed the batter. Got back on when we restored power. Yea!
Also, finally got Lily up through the Wildearth site, but of course, I missed all the action.
What a way to start the day. A state of frustration and panic. I had to laugh. I got up about the same time as Lynne at 3:00. Checked on Lily. She was in hard labor then...she butted her head HARD up against the end of the den.Everyone on facebook was saying WOW!
Well I just got what Wanda mean't by "turn the page". I've been on the other thread. Waiting for an answer lol Don't lose me it will make me cry sniffle sniffle
AP Baltimore: Maryland state wildlife officials have propsed removing the bald eagle from the state list of endangered species. From a low of 44 breeding pairs in '77, they have rebounded to 390 pairs in 2004, so it could be over 500 now. The largest populations are in Dorchester nad Charles counties.
Brought over from other thread: I now think that even with the hum and the lower setting for sound on the Lily cam. If she had a cub and it is anything like a panda cub with making noise. We would definetly hear it.
The link that Glo gave us yesterday of the magazine article that used her pic---it was a pdf----froze my puter up....couldn't advance to the page I needed!
MORNIN' DANA!!---When I checked on this am--wasn't sure of what to do!!---I have been spending time in dentist chair!!!---The way things are going now--in a few mos---I might have better teeth....but no house! How is 'LITTLE MAN' today?---
LOL Norma, I was just laughing at your comment about having better teeth...but no house. Read it out loud to Jack. Yeah...I got my guy.....but he is no black bear about to give birth!!!! lol
Mema Jo the blueberry beagle was good. I have to say, "Not as good as the cinnamon". I hope that don't cause a fortune. I must go to that place and get me one. No other cinnamon thing is taking its place.
Glad you tried to go see the article and the picture Hedgie sorry it wouldn't let you advance to the page. It has so much info in there aobut how all this endangered and threatened species info comes to pass not only with our eagles but all living things of various species etc.
Norma everything Ed ate meals at table he gave Little Man something. Then he had his own meanls. Later at night as Ed snack he shared his snacks with Little Man plus what he gave him when he went out and came in from using bathroom. He had been overweight and Vet talked with Ed and he was put on a diet and fewer snacks which Ed did. Although still shared snacks with him. So I was expecting him to have lost some. He is eating his meal I put down in AM within a 20 minute period. Then his evening meal the same. With only 1 snack at night. Which of course he is mad at me about. Cause he doesn't get all that inbetween and all those snacks.
Dana, you could give him little bits of carrots....most dogs LOVE carrots! Not fattening. BUT, I caution....only a slice or 2 at first...it will be upping his fiber intake with could cause a bit of diarrhea if he has too much too soon. I know it's hard to look at those eyes and be strong, but it's so much healthier for him to not be overweight.
Glo, if you could post the link again, please, I will try it on the PC instead of the netbook and see if it works better! Would like to read it for sure.
Don't know about schools, Dana. Sounded like some kids never got there!
Dana, sounds like you are doing well with him. He will be much healthier. Yes, try the carrots. Bless his heart...he loved his daddy and those extra treats!
I put Dex on skinless boneless chicken breasts for snacks. When I fix it fo rme I fix a whole one for him and then cut it up and freeze it. Then just thaw a few pieces out at a time. He gets very few over the counter dog treats now at all. Changed that when I still had Daphne and she needed special diet. When all the dog treats left the chicken came out. You can buy them at Walmart like 12 big breast to a package and thaw only one or two to cook at a time. He loves his chicken. Hedgie I will repost the link.
Good morning all! Very busy in here today and I love that feeling of warmth being with all of you. I just watched Lisa's video - She and others will cherish that for a long time. I haven't tried the cams yet - I've been reading your comments. Can't believe it is Friday so soon. Time does go by very fast while trying to keep up with all these cams.
I was checking out Moose cam and can see 2 of the 13 moose napping in the snow. Pook has even posted for her moose viewers the Black Bear cam. The cyber word gets around very fast!
My dogs normally just get dry biscuits for treat! They also like their carrots cooked! I do have some of those jerky treats that my friend gave me, but they don't get those very oftern...too high in sugar!
First of all, Jo, I did get your phone message and I really appreciate the information and your thoughtfulness. Thank you.
I am going to talk with Will this weekend about getting our network back up and running. If he needs to buy new parts, so be it. This shutdown is inerfering with my birdwatching, social networking, bill-paying, and with my job. It's amazing how much we depend on our computers. I actually had to use the phone book the other day.
I will have to get more techincal help. I have lost Microsoft Word. It will have to be re-installed. I can't print because my computer does not talk to the printer. I am supposed to produce handouts for all of my new students by Wednesday, and I have to miss Tuesday for a doctor's appointment.
When they told me that they were going to reformat my disk, I didn't think about the fact that I would lose all of the links on my favorites list. Eventually, I will need help with that. Can't think about it now. I had so many web cams on there. We spent the evening before I turned in the computer copying all of my pictues onto disks. The tech people would have saved my documents, but there is a limit to what they will save.
I will not be able to access my Yahoo e-mail account until I can get online at home. I have given my work e-mail to Helen and Margy at different times in the past, and you all are welcome to contact me through that address if you need to. I probably have hundreds of new messages by now.
It is too bad there are people in this world who get pleasure out of sending viruses to destroy other people's stuff, if that is what happened. We still have not found one, but whatever happened made a terrible mess.
I will try to read some messages later. In the meantime, hello and good morning.
Shirley, that's a mess, how awful. I've always said that if people who created these viruses would use the knowledge for good, what a world it would be.
Shirley (don't think you will see this) I think I should turn off your Momster emails (Yahoo) until you are up/running. I'll give you a call.
The valley is still getting some precip! Tomorrow is the birthday bash here at the house for hubby. It is being put on (homemade dishes) by his daughters.
Just had a nice conversation with Miss Norma! She had some good suggestions for Carolyn in her job-seeking efforts that I need to pass along. She's a sweetheart. And she has insisted on sharing the cost of mailing the calendars with me, even tho' I tried to talk her out of it! So thank Norma, too!!
So what do we do - add them and what a grand total that would be watching Lily. I thought they were both WildEarth. Anyway we know there are enough viewers to put the system down.
Jo, go ahead and turn it off. I would never get through it all.
Just got an e-mail from the tech person who can help me. She will not be available until Tuesday and I won't be here then. Oh well. I will have to manage somehow. I only have two new classes. Maybe this will seem funny at some point.
Dana, when they first put Cinnamon on a diet----when they were all insisting that she was a miniature, which turned out not to be true---they said to give her canned green beans (unsalted) as a snack. No cooking. And she,to this day, loves green beans!!
I'm thinking that a second egg at BWE could come today. I best go over to the early am thread and read comments - I'm taking a chance of repeating things already discussed.......
BTW----please say a prayer for our Chrissy. When she went for her root canal work Tues., dentist found a crumbling molar. When he tried to pull it, it broke apart. She's in pain, on meds, waiting for an apptmt. with an oral surgeon.
LOL----I'm still on papers---finishing with the cartoons. All the talk about feeding the dogs: Fred Bassett is sitting up and the guy says "Do you want your dinner, Fred?" Fred's return thought is: "Hazard a guess." And then Marmaduke has a cookbook in his mouth; Guy says "Marm's idea of a good bedtime story is a beef stew recipe."
I've got a yellow-bellied sapsucker out here! First time that I've noticed one. It's a good bit smaller than the flickers. There's a bird party going on. Lots of noise!! Titmice, juncos, wrens....all chirping and singing and some fighting.
Exhausted last night and fell asleep right after dinner. Hope my light didn't keep everyone awake.
Lynn, I am sorry about Carolyn losing her job and hope she finds a new and improved one quickly.
Lynne, glad the tumor is non-malignant and relatively small. Hugs to all.
Shirley, worst luck with computer. Can Geeks on Wheels help sooner than Tuesday? May be worth a bit of money to have your work/social life back. Miss you!
Good wishes for Chrissy and her broken tooth. Hope she gets an appt. very soon -- like today.
Dana, Little Man is doing fine. He just needs to have you near to feel the love.
Tried to check some cams. Lily is squirming around, NBG busy rearranging fluff (soon?), LB sitting pretty, NCTC MT last look.
Lord have mercy, I can't get nothing done! I think she is starting to have contractions again! I pray she is not in any kind of distress with this baby!!!
I'd just like to say how grateful I am for all the work that has gone into getting the live feed back up. It is simply wonderful!
Several people in my office watched this (probably too much), last year, but we came in when the chick was pretty big.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some info about how big that nest is? It must be pretty big, since both the adults can land in it and walk around. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Lily the Black Bear: Lily appears to be resting up for another round. More action to come -- and she's in a great position just now! about a minute ago
Better yet Paula - I heard her snapping off twigs.
DJ not ignoring your question We are engrossed in watching 2 or 3 cams all at once. Lily the Black Bear in MN about ready to give birth in her den
Our Eagles and also Blackwater Eagles at Cambridge MD http://www.friendsofblackwater.org/camhtm2.html They already have their 1st egg Our NCTC/FWS eagles should be laying their first egg within the week.
Thanks all for the info. Yes, I am watching the live feed. Last year, my brother and I had almost a 24-hour round the clock watch for the little one's first flight.
No luck on that link, either, Lynne, but I am having puter problems.......have rebooted twice. Guess I need to check the satellite dish---might be iced over.
Well I have been trying to coach Sharon. Did you take those deep cleansing breaths when I told you too. I was finding myself forgetting to breathe. I want to hold he rpaw and stroke her back UT I don't think she would welcome that from a human now anyway.

Excuse me while I go cry!

Hi guys,

Hi Lisa, thanks, Lisa, egg in view BWE
Lisa's video won't come through for me:(
Thanks for new thread and callover.

Bear.org gift shop site is down for maintenance-----guess too many people looking to see if Lily shirts are posted!!
thanks Lisa, that was a great video of Tai Shan, alot of times when he comes inside, he turns his back on the people, you were lucky:)

Oh, shucks....lost out on Cher's Hawaii home...sold at auction for $8.7 mill!!
Lisa is such a good friend to us...we should get a ROAD TRIP up to visit Blackwater and make sure she will be there. Kinda like our trip to Patuxent, with Loretta leading the way.
LISA---I couldn't get your video---w/try later!!---ANXIOUS TO SEE IT!!
Nope, can't get Lisa's video, either. Refuge page says it's not available.

I couldn't open Lisa's link either, froze up my computer! Had to reboot!

Dorchester is where Cambridge, MD is...:)
Sure hope that taking them off the list doesn't mean that protection from being killed by hunters is removed..........
Mits, it did the same for my computer, but may have froze up since I have our cam on too...slows me down...will try later.
So no cubs yet for Lily?
Wanda - have been meaning to tell you how much I like you new eagle avatar!
that is a given, Lynn, they are still supposed to be protected, but we know there are still idiots out there that do stupid things.
ok I don't have the eagle cam on so maybe that is why it worked for me....
NO Hedgie, it doesn't...it's the same thing the FWS did sveral years ago...there are still protections in place.
Brought over from other thread: I now think that even with the hum and the lower setting for sound on the Lily cam. If she had a cub and it is anything like a panda cub with making noise. We would definetly hear it.
Good morning friends!! Poor Lily, bless her heart!!!
I missed our eagles this morning :(
That was what I did, Mits...it went to the refuge homepage...but no video!
Lolly glad you got things straightened out. you must have had gremlins visit last night!
Dana---glad you found your way!
From BWE -

LOL Norma, I was just laughing at your comment about having better teeth...but no house. Read it out loud to Jack. Yeah...I got my guy.....but he is no black bear about to give birth!!!! lol
Norma Little Man is resting now. I know I'll have to take a panda nap sometime from being up with him.
He has lost 4 lbs since Ed passed. Due to me not giving him lots of treats. At least I hope that is why he lost that weight. Time will till.
Poor boy is still so lonely for Ed.
The URL Lisa put up shows it ends in a # 1
when I copy it it shows
http://www.refugewatach.org/video/Taishan
Is that what your played in WMP Mits?
Dana, did he need to loose the weight?
Yes he did Lolly.
DANA!--Did the vet tell you that is to be expected?---I would think it would be---we will all probably feel better when the SUN starts shining!!!
What a beautiful video Lisa! Thanks for sharing with us!

From FB:
Lily the Black Bear Techs at www.bear.org are working to resolve a concurrent user limit that seems to be an issue. We hope to have it resolved soon.
Wow, they sure are doing a great job at trying to keep everything running for us!!
CRAZY PIC of S-DIEGO!!---One can view the top of his 'adorable head'---& that's about it!!---
Dana, you could give him little bits of carrots....most dogs LOVE carrots!
Lynne2 he will only eat a small piece of cooked carrot. lol Won't touch the raw no matter how you cut or slice it.
Dana, sounds like you are doing well with him. He will be much healthier. Yes, try the carrots. Bless his heart...he loved his daddy and those extra treats!
Well, he is like a spoiled child that does not want his veggies! lol
Mits maybe you can send Lisa's link in an email and we can open it that way.
My Bald Eagle photo from Rock Island Arsenal published in Army study on Threatened and Endangered Species" Page 11 of book but comes up on 13 as the pdf reads.
Hope that works. Not going to try to open it while I am watching Lily though.
LOL Lily has a spider with her too. Facebook fans have named her Charlotte :-)
I was checking out Moose cam and can see 2 of the 13 moose napping in the snow. Pook has even posted for her moose viewers the Black Bear cam.
The cyber word gets around very fast!

The cam did come up WOW
Think I'll concentrate on the eagle cams for now and await word on any cubs through one of you or FB.
My dogs normally just get dry biscuits for treat! They also like their carrots cooked! I do have some of those jerky treats that my friend gave me, but they don't get those very oftern...too high in sugar!
lol Glo - I guess they don't know about Spidey
I'm on the PIX cam of Lily and they have 26,309 viewers...
oh yes Glo....try little pieces of baked or boiled chicken Dana...not too fattening and healthy.
I must say, after reading about how msot dog food is made.....EEWWWWW. Nasty business. I'm switching Daisy over to better food.
Hi everyone,
I have a few minutes to make some comments.

Our Momster, Gwen Furse, whom you may have seen on Facebook is celebrating her b-day today and she is visiting down in Atlanta.
Happy Birthday Gwen - enjoy your day
Hi Shirley, was going to email you, but knew you were down...and you would not get it....so many people I know are having puter problems...
OK, someone needs to write a book about this blog. Really. What a great story it makes!!! There is already a title...who said it?
"I Came for the Eagles, I Stayed for the Friends"
Dana I just copied and pasted exactly what Lisa had posted up above.....got to run some errands...ttyl
Snow plow just came through----a lot of noise pushing slush!
Shirley, that's a mess, how awful. I've always said that if people who created these viruses would use the knowledge for good, what a world it would be.

No problem with the pdf doc this time, Glo. Saved it to my puter to read at my leisure. But great to see your pic and the credit for it.

I want to go up to Berkeley Springs and I don't want to go out in the weather yet...so I think a Panda Nap is in order
Good to see everyone, will check out Lisa's Zoo link later...and the Blackwater website so informative !
TTFN xo ...later....
Almost time for Alexis and family to
board the silver bird and be on their way to Disney World. She was so excited when I saw her last evening.
All the talk about feeding the dogs: Fred Bassett is sitting up and the guy says "Do you want your dinner, Fred?" Fred's return thought is: "Hazard a guess."
And then Marmaduke has a cookbook in his mouth; Guy says "Marm's idea of a good bedtime story is a beef stew recipe."
thank you Norma! and thanks again, Lynn!
Margy, not so sure you should attempt that trip...there are wrecks everywhere. Poles down....please stay in!

I've got a yellow-bellied sapsucker out here! First time that I've noticed one. It's a good bit smaller than the flickers. There's a bird party going on. Lots of noise!! Titmice, juncos, wrens....all chirping and singing and some fighting.
she looks like a pretzel, poor thing
i hear small noises but I think it's her
egg no eagle at BWE
think Lily cam is not going to open for me
I personally think that Lily is trying to push a baby out!
I thinks she's still pushing....she's huffing. I don't hear a baby yet...wouldn't she be cleaning it if she just gave birth?
OMG...really? A cub???
Margy someone on the FB page suggested this link
Feed is working on
espnoutdoors.com http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/hunting/news/story?id=4838968
She's nearly standing on her head
I think I waited too late to open Lily
I had it earlier but closed it down
Keep me advised - Cub or not?
I've got it on the www.bear.org site
No luck getting cam open. OVer 17000 viewers showing,so no big surprize.
OMG, I am going to go nuts watching this poor bear and there is an eagle in the nest!

wwwaaaaaa....I have to go to the bathroom :( I don't want to miss anything!
Don't forget to breather Deep cleansing breaths :-)
Good almost afternoon.
Rainy and grey here.
Eagles or bear eagles or bear...decisions!
Bear is resting...
In between contractions now I think. She is standing on her head. And we have 2 eagles in our nest.
That link keeps saying Cannot find server, Lynne. Boo....
Lord have mercy, I can't get nothing done! I think she is starting to have contractions again! I pray she is not in any kind of distress with this baby!!!
Funny comment from viewer on FB

They are back and busy......
Really paying attention to the egg cup
Both our Eagles are back
Eagles back at our nest!
And again, thanks to all who make this happen!
Working on fluff and a stick in our nest
Belle is clearing the nest of any nestovers.
They really are ripping up some of those long branches .....
Hi DJ Are you watching the Live Feed
here a stick there a stick everywhere a stick stick
welcome DJ!
I thought that was going to happen
Belle flew out.......
Cool, did you see her snapping off twigs! Off she went, to upper left
I'll leave the nest question to one of the more experienced eagle watchers here.....but it is BIG!!
Lily the Black Bear:
Lily appears to be resting up for another round. More action to come -- and she's in a great position just now! about a minute ago
Poof went Lib.........
DJ, the nest is about 4 feet wide and 2 feet thick, about 80 feet up in a sycamore tree!
we have a new guest who has a question about the size of the nest....DJ
Read back a few posts
DJ - that nest is about 7 ft long as we see it on the cam, Noon to 6 position and 4-5 ft across - 9 to 3 position.
oops, thanks Sharon!
and Paula!!
Some nests can reach up to 10 feet across and weigh up to 2000 pounds.
From the eagle fact sheet right under the cam
Hang on DJ, I'm looking for a reference picture
Better yet Paula - I heard her snapping off twigs.
DJ not ignoring your question We are engrossed in watching 2 or 3 cams all at once.
Lily the Black Bear in MN about ready to give birth in her den
Our Eagles and also Blackwater Eagles at Cambridge MD

Our NCTC/FWS eagles should be laying their first egg within the week.
When did the live feed come on?
I think Wednesday, Shirley
My heart is so pounding
shoot, she moved and now her back is to the camera
Thanks all for the info. Yes, I am watching the live feed. Last year, my brother and I had almost a 24-hour round the clock watch for the little one's first flight.
she's contracting again....
DJ- this link should take you to some side view pics of the nest I took last year...good reference for size....scroll down a bit to June and May
Blog post from 2009
She is so alone in pain. Just her, her Creator and the life "s" within here waiting and working very hard.
Well I guess she isn't exactly alone is she LOL but she sorta is. Just has a very big delivery waiting room
Well, this is killing me. Nerves are shot, pushing with her, got a headache. I did get to see a bear susie and have never seen one of them before! :)
"We are surprised to see how hard Lily is working to deliver these cubs"

No luck on that link, either, Lynne, but I am having puter problems.......have rebooted twice. Guess I need to check the satellite dish---might be iced over.
Well I have been trying to coach Sharon. Did you take those deep cleansing breaths when I told you too. I was finding myself forgetting to breathe. I want to hold he rpaw and stroke her back UT I don't think she would welcome that from a human now anyway.
there she goes again....
