Monday

Evening thread.

Thanks for sending me the picture of the owl.  Hard for me to tell what the species is from the photo.

Could be a Great Horned, but could also be a Barred owl, which are very common around here. While owls might be a threat, they have always been around the Shepherdstown nest, and will continue to be.  I think the threat is minimal.

Perhaps some of you will remember when a red tailed hawk, also very common around here,  got too close to the nest when there were you in it.  One of the adult eagles "took it out" in a very violent fashion, as witnessed by a couple of NCTC folks.

Glo I thought you meant NBG nest. Have never seen an owl in NCTC nest. Hope it stays away.

OOoh, I remember the red tailed hawk saga!

Just got home from a meeting and thinking about going to bed. Not feeling quite up to par today but this too shall pass!

Earlier I watch the Antique Road Show..
I came out to pc and started playing Solitaire...........
Paula & Wanda's computers are down
Most of our other Momsters have headed for the sheetz.......

I personally don't think the owl is a Great Horned. Too early for a young one and adults are like 18" tall, and the ear tufts are very prominent. I think this is either a barn owl or a screech owl. JMHO.

Sorry little Jake is so sick, Lynne.
Hope he's much better quickly and that little Kelsey doesn't come down with the same thing---and you, too!

It was a beautiful day today weather wise...
Oh yes, I don't need to go back to the Retina Specialist for another 6 months. Everything is staying good.
Boy with eyes dilated when we drove down RT 270 the red tail lights and the white headlights along with the overhead yellow highway lights I was in psychedelic heaven! They looked better than all the Christmas lights a month ago. Looked more like firecrackers. I really after a while had to close my eyes.

Lynn Sorry you lost the order of the slides. That was a lot of work - Wish they would have had that 'back to previous' arrow for you!

Evening Everypne & Good Night tpo many, I guess.
Never got on here after work, so will have to check up on owl. Thought I had read most AM messages before noon.
Popped a big chuck roast in oven this afternoon & then stew type veggies~Yum. We're good to go for a couple.
There were NO animals at Chelsea amd the pond had refrozen, so all the geese were across road in a big field. No deets & pretty foxy didn't show. bummer I was only there 1 1/2 hrs. If I had thought of it, I should have gone to Conowingo today.

They have their Valentine's items out now. And their Easter ones too!

I am getting downright sleepy.

Home from cam club. The owl did have prominent ears So I don't think it was a barn owl. Because we are still adapting to the size of our eagles given the camera location its hard to say for sure how big it really was. But given where it was sitting kind of what we call the launch pad and from what I have seen of Lib and Belle down in the nest bowl area I would say it is a fairly good size bird. not sure the size difference between a screeech owl and a GHO. I so wish I had gotten that first picture but I did see the ears and the eyes. I had no doubt I was looking at an owl "with" ears. And he/she was looking at the camera.

I am glad to know they have been around the area for a while and haven't really caused any problems. Thats exactly how it needs to stay!!!!

I am still trying to get these pics in order........yawn!
Going to say goodnight and put fresher eyes on it tomorrow.
Sleep well, sweet friends. Prayers for all needs.
