Once upon a time, Megan, the property where I live now belonged to a couple who had 3 greenhouses and a small orchard. Beautiful flowers and plants and fruit were grown and sold. Now all that's left is 2 falling down greenhouses and a couple of very old apple and pear trees.
That's a shame they are run down, Lynne. Oh yes, we spent over an hour getting the snow off. Too much work and money wrapped up in it to let it collapse. Often when it snows, we have to go out every few hours to brush the snow off. So much snow this time, there was nowhere for the snow to go, so we had to clear all along it then brush it off house.
I would too Megan! Me and my bionic elbow! That Dr is going to be so impressed with me when I see him on Thursday.(I'm going to wait until AFTER he tells me how good everything looks before I tell him how much shoveling I did)
I had put out seeds on my front porch. When I went out to look, there was a squirrel there. He backed off a little and looked at me as if to say, "Please go away." I left the poor guy alone so he could get some seeds. Have not seen many squirrels. I think it's hard for them to get around.
I haven't seen any squirrels today. We set up an old card table under that holly tree on Saturday morning,, I can see it from my kitchen window, then we put seed underneath so the snow wouldn't cover it.
Yes, it was late. I guess I should have been nicer to the poor woman who had to make the call. I told her I was disappointed because I really want my glasses. Now, it will probably end up with me having to take another day off from work. They said I can call the Rt. 3 office to re-schedule tomorrow.
Of course, I might not have been able to get in there tomorrow, anyway. It is what it is.
That poor creature was taken out of a warm house and left in the snow... We have a lot of cardinals in my yard. It's nothing to spot 25 to 30 of them when I put seed out like that.
He's ROTTEN. I could write a book on this cat's antics. He's a freakshow in a fur jumpsuit. Oh, I love him .... he's very friendly. But he is BAD. No one ever believes it until they see him in action!
I think he was dropped as a kitten....on his head. Lucky he ended up picking me to take care of him...he'd be pushing up daisies if he'd ended up with anyone else!
He really is Shirley! Just to give you a small example of his rotteness....we have to wire down the crock pot lid when we use it and secure it behind other things to keep him from opening the lid. He has knocked off lids from things cooking on the stove, and stolen countless items of food, not the least of which was an entire half of a roast from the table one evening!
I just wish it would end. Blasted refs are bliund, too....it was obviously a Giant who started that melee. This is a big waste of time, but I have gotten some wrapping done!
San Francisco zoo brought in 10 tons of ice and used a snow machine to give the polar bears a holiday treat! Ice was donated by an ice company. Okay, stupid game is over....tub time. See you friends tomorrow. Rest well. Prayers and peace.

Lynn, I needed you to nag me today about those exercises. I did some pullies, but ......
Too much good tv tonight. And a must is Jeopary. Then Antiques Roadshow. Many channels have Christmas shows or movies we watch. Jim's off this week until Saturday so I must relingquish the remote after my shows unless we can agree on a particular show.
Now Tuesday night we totally agree on NCIS, NCIS LA, and The Good Wife; my fav new show. I'll usually get ready for bed when NCIS LA comes on cuz I'm not real fond of this show. But Tuesdays we get along just fine.
First round of cards went out last week, then family, and now more family, fire department pals, and some church folks. Some recipients will fall over to see I am still alive! Yeah, it has been that long...
Nilla was a slow day for me I had no energy and some shoulder and back pain. Jim's home so he cleaned upstairs and made supper. I think we're about ready for the retirement home Just don't know how we could take our "things" with us. The kids will have a great time cleaning out this old, big house. I have visions of all my family research and items will be surrendered to a fire or yard sale. NIGHTMARE!!!
Afew of us were watching Jeopardy and i got the final question right...lol Love that kind of Triva i play trivia game on Pogo everyday..Nana u watch Antique Roadshow on BBC too? Love that channel.. Daughter says im obessed with Nancy Grace if she has something good on i watch her 3 times a night so i dont miss anything..
Oh, take it slow, Diann...hope things will start looking better soon...
Let me come up there sometime, I know about those kinds of "treasures" - this place is full of them too, even though it is a small apartment. I should have stock in the zip-loc bag business. I'm the youngest of 8 - have lots of my parents' things still with me
Hey Hey Hey Marg glad your still up.. Yeah my daughter just bought me a new 32 inch flat screen for Christmas..I have a big 52 inch but grandson has it in his room.. Whats shakin Marg? If i could get out we could go to Waffel House...lol I been hungry too
sometimes Bird Girl jumps on in the middle of our night, I think three hours difference for her... and sometimes, Loretta, and Jim... one never knows.... I like to see Finland when it has first light....
When i had to give up my independence an apartment i gave my kids what they wanted step daughter i gave my big cannon-ball bedroom suite and some antiques.. I have a collection of Hallmark Bears ( the small ones) and a beautiful wooden shelf they set on must take to her yet and a antique 2globe light (the globes is red trimmed with gold design) many things packed away in shed in toats...
Thanks Margie, I sometimes forget who's in charge.
Well, I hate to leave this nice company, but believe I'm getting sleepy (medication helps). so I'll wish both of you pleasant thoughts and blessings until tomorrow. God bless!
Geez Mag i just gave a 27 inch tv away nothing wrong with it.. Oh and i have a collection of eagle statues packed away to.. Yeah the grandson who shoveled my car in..lol
Hi, Everyone! My Sis-in-law came over tonight, and stayed for quite a while, so I'm just getting back here after watching a TV show I'd recorded.
Noticed that 2 or 3 of you have a potpourri jar with Christmas lights in it! MUST tell you about the one I have! The lights suddenly went out, so went and bought new ones, planning to re-do the thing. When I took out the potpourri and old lights, I found that the lights had actually caught on fire, and melted some of the wires! The plug had fuses in it, so it cut the electricity, and it didn't go up in flames, but boy, the Lord was surely watching out for us! One wire burned and melted so it was not connected to anything--just a copper wire exposed at the end! Bottom line--I DON'T recommend using those as a night light, or maybe for anything else, either! Apparently too much heat can build up, and no telling where that will lead! Part of the potpourri looked scorched, but it didn't burn, thank God! On my trip to Wal-Mart I got another big bag of birdseed--my feathered friends will be thrilled in the morning! Got dark earlier tonight, so didn't have a chance to put seed out. Saw the moon, and Jupiter, peeking out from the clouds tonight--a beautiful sight! See that Judie wasn't feeling well today. Lots and lots of prayers being said for a speedy recovery from whatever's ailing you, Judie! You've had enough health concerns lately! ((((HUGE HUGS)))) for you, too! Hope a good night's sleep will help. Since I have a 7am Dr. appt. tomorrow, I'd better hit the hay, too. Prayers being said for everyone. Sleep snug as a bug, and have sweet eagle dreams! Will talk to you tomorrow, probably after the Dr. appt. Love all of you! G'night! :o]
I just read by a few comments with blurry eyes. That Judie isn't feeling well from what Andrea says, " PRAYERS PRAYERS FOR Judie to began to feel much BETTER..Amen".
Well I did get to read the previous thread. Great work on the Jeopardy question ladies.
Yes when Nilla called I was so worn out. Turn on tv fell asleep in recliner. Woke up went to bed. Ed's dog is used to being up late with him. So at 1am he awakes me to let him out grrr...lol got to get him on my schedule yea right.
Social Security on telephone is no help either. I called them sitting outside the office. They said "no they aren't closed. We have no informtaion of any Regional Offices being closed". I said, "Lady their in a not on the door flapping in the wind with the door locked saying 12/21/09 Social Security Office closed". Now she is trying to give me an appointment for Jan 14th grrrr This is getting to a point of if things don't get straightened out I'm going to a Congress Women or Somene. They even now as I showed at the great luncheon the Eagle Ladies took me on. That now I have re-married and that man is dead too. Hay I'm NOT THE BLACK WIDOW WOMAN!!!!! Married only to my "WONDERFUL ED".
Hope you all enjoy the day. I will be heading out again. Please pray for them nuts down there to help me today and please pray for strength for me". Thank you....I will be calm...hummm come to think of it maybe that is my problem. I'm too nice to them but then again they have that police sitting right there in that very small room. Don't want to be put in no pokie.
Heading back to bed for a few more 20 some minutes of sleep Lord willing.
Good morning everyone. Golly did some scanning of yesterday afternoon. Some of you are feeling kind of down. Storms and getting shut in can do that to you. Alone at Christmas, thats a big one for sure especially if you haven't done that one before. I pray a sense of hope "there's still several days and maybe neighbors can get to each other if family can't. And a sense of His peace, as you deal with the aftermath of this strom. social security can be very helpful or drive you absolutle nuts. Hang in there dana and don't let themd rive you nuts. They will eventually get it straightened out. Read where cam was fixed, I need to go check on that but wanted to say good morning first.. Be safe and warm. Our turn is coming again for weather on Chrismtas Eve and Christmas day. Have company coming christmas eve if they can get here in the weather. We will share a meal and go to church togehter. Then there is the neighbors and coffee and dog treats for Christmas day. Its not family BUT I would be lost without them and whatever the weather Dex and I will do our very best to get across the street especially on that morning. Well I will carry Dex if I have to "many times its good he is a small dog". Chek in with ya later. Off to check the cam and get dressed. Have a little snow to shovel this morning, but its light and fluffy.
So good to see an eagle with food on the nest. They show us so well how to get through the storms in life. We have watched this pair do that a few times
Morning all. Happy to see some activity in our nest.
Dana, be patient with SS. Eventually they will get it right. When DH applied for disabitity they had us getting married in ElPaso TX--we were married in ElPaso COUNTY, CO.
12/22/09: Each year we watch for the eagles to bring fresh pine sprigs to the nest, because it's a sign that they're getting the nest ready for the new season. And now we see the pine sprigs have arrived. As a reminder, we could see an egg around the end of January or beginning of February.
Good Morning Mits.... Thanks, and the same to you. Finland started out beautifully at first light, then a snowstorm hit, and now all serene and peaceful again

Hope everyone with snow problems is having a better day. This is only my third winter in PA and I don't have snow tires or traction/stability control on my truck. I am nervous on the roads.
My poor 16yr. old BobbieSox (poodleX) had to be put down in the middle of the storm. My Vet was on vacation and I had to take her to the next town. I am still mad at my Vet as she knew my dog was not doing well at all and she didn't even tell me she wouldn't be available. I am now petless for the first time in over 40 years. Well--I live with Mom and she has a Golden Retriever, so not exactly petless. Anyway, I don't have much Christmas spirit........
okay thanks Lynne. My brother lived in Houston for a long long time, I have been there twice, he finally retired and moved and lives in Ct in the summer, and Naples Fla in the winter. He did not like Houston much.
Thanks, Bob (as I called her) was a real trooper. She was found wandering the streets covered with fleas and latex paint. My TX Vet shaved her, treated the fleas, spayed her, etc. and she lived at the Vet clinic for 6 months before I got her. And she flew on an airplane up here at age 13. My Mom called her "a dear little girl with a boy's name".
See you Mits, been fun. I would like to get that newsletter.
Lynne...Bobbiesox has crossed the Rainbow Bridge...do you have that link? I will send it to you. Our Lynne2, recently lost her precious Raven...the two are together now ☺
Hugs to Lynne in PA at the loss of Bobbi Sox. You loved her very much and cared for her so very well to even travel to a different town to help her cross the bridge when it was time. What a good mom and loving home Bobbi Sox found. You gave her a good life and I am sure she has left in your heart some awesome memories. Its still so hard so very very hard.
I have put all kinds of extra food outside for my birds and squirels but seems to have been found by a pair of crows. I know they have to eat too but golly I want the little ones to get their share. We have bad weather coming in tonight for several days. Might have to scoot them off in a litle bit and try to replenish. Hmmm

I hope you were able to get enough snow off the greenhouse, Megan.
You did that very nicely, Margy! Very graceful!
Got a message from Steve, he got the story this afternoon about the cam too....says they will still need to make a permanent repair
Thanks again Steve and John!
You guys are Snow Angels...

Isn't it grand to be on the internet with so many wonderful people ??
Thanks Lolly....and here I said I was going to be quiet tonight.
Hard for a Magpie to do that !
That's a shame they are run down, Lynne.
Oh yes, we spent over an hour getting the snow off. Too much work and money wrapped up in it to let it collapse. Often when it snows, we have to go out every few hours to brush the snow off. I posted another pic of Gh that shows snow being cleaned off it.
Sending some Eagle Love down
to T-Bird.... and Buddy and all Sharon's pups except the one she took with her ♥
Megan, I wish I lived closer to come help out....
Thanks, but trust me, your back would wish otherwise...hahaha
It's the evening for the deer at Okie Bird Feeder and Snowman cam.
Love your pictures, Megan, especially the unidentified creature. Ohh, scary! Looks like a snow dragon to me.
LOL, Megan!!! iZ thought Lowreeda meant there was a real story behind it!
I would too Megan! Me and my bionic elbow! That Dr is going to be so impressed with me when I see him on Thursday.(I'm going to wait until AFTER he tells me how good everything looks before I tell him how much shoveling I did)
Awfully late call from eye doc, Shirley! Geesh!
Where did you get that Maintenance Man
Do you have to pay him much? \
Love seeing all those birds feeding.
Getting ready to go to bed. Have to take Sis in the morning for an EGD. Good times! :)
Yeah, that maintenence man is expensive, but worth evry penny♥
How are you, Lynn? Getting cabin fever yet?
I like your bird frenzy picture, Megan!
I had put out seeds on my front porch. When I went out to look, there was a squirrel there. He backed off a little and looked at me as if to say, "Please go away." I left the poor guy alone so he could get some seeds. Have not seen many squirrels. I think it's hard for them to get around.
Touchdown, finally!
Lolly, it's a little known fact that snow dragons are indigenous (although quite rare) to these parts.
I haven't seen any squirrels today.
We set up an old card table under that holly tree on Saturday morning,, I can see it from my kitchen window, then we put seed underneath so the snow wouldn't cover it.
Oh, poor Nessie, he's been stuck out there since Saturday. No one wants to wade thru the snow to rescue him...
Lots of cardinals in that group of birds, Megan.
LOL, love the unidentified creature, Megan...and the avatar as well.
Smart! Megan, glad you explained the old card table. Great idea1 I could not figure out what I was seeing!
I think Lowreeda's tree is to keep the kitty away...
Bumble...that's his name!
That poor creature was taken out of a warm house and left in the snow...
We have a lot of cardinals in my yard. It's nothing to spot 25 to 30 of them when I put seed out like that.
type! Idea
Okay!! Making all kinds of mistakes. Think I am going to go shower and get comfy.
Nite all!
Glad I forgot about the game :(
Glad hubby fell asleep before it started.
He might have fallen asleep in the middle of it.
Just put pics of my other 2 cats on my blog too.
Brother Cat doesn't look like a devil. Actually, he looks a lot like my George.
Lynne- LOL at your kitties...
He's ROTTEN. I could write a book on this cat's antics. He's a freakshow in a fur jumpsuit. Oh, I love him .... he's very friendly. But he is BAD. No one ever believes it until they see him in action!
Hitting the hay, I'm beat.
Catch ya'll tomorrow!
Hugs to all ♥
Wow- game is getting nasty. Player throws a punch and gets away with it.
I think he was dropped as a kitten....on his head. Lucky he ended up picking me to take care of him...he'd be pushing up daisies if he'd ended up with anyone else!
Now I think that is awful that these players can get away with that behavior...so unsportsman like.
Geez- Giants just scored another touchdown. 45 to 12....gotta turn this off.
Heading to bed, worn out- hope to shovel no snow tomorrow.
Nite all
"Feeakshow in a fur jumpsuit"-_love it!
Well, finally got my Christmas Cards finished...all but two whose address I don't have?

I am falling to sleep. Good night fine folks. See you tomorrow.
night Megan and Paula!
Good night, Jo, Wanda and Shirley! Good night John Boy, good night Mary Ellen.....
I'm going to hit the rack myself. Prayers for all!
I just wish it would end. Blasted refs are bliund, too....it was obviously a Giant who started that melee.
This is a big waste of time, but I have gotten some wrapping done!
Got caught up in envelopes stickers stamps and cards....
missed the Good Nights from many!
Good Night with Magpie Love ♥
I think I will be up when PA NANA posts tonight as she usually does late...

Megan, sorry you had to work so hard to save the greenhouse...a very hard job.
No, Lolly, no cabin fever. I have everything I need and I'm busy!
San Francisco zoo brought in 10 tons of ice and used a snow machine to give the polar bears a holiday treat! Ice was donated by an ice company.

Yes, I got the final question right too. It's amazing sometimes to realize I know a thing or two. I could never convince my kids of that though.

Yep having breakfast. I was beginning to wonder if folks had lost their power on here.
maybe it's a catfish
Read your lovely post, Glo.
Good Morning !
So good to see an eagle with food on the nest. They show us so well how to get through the storms in life. We have watched this pair do that a few times
I sort of thought catfish when i first saw it too Magpie
bet they are ravenous during this weather!
I'm getting some pretty good pictures of this
Bless their hearts but they can fish and get and haul off the big ones. We know they can.
Have seen that on YOUR pictures, Glo...☺
practically inhaling it !

Eagle in the nest at BWE also, and Finland looks so serene

today's update from BWE....
12/22/09:
Each year we watch for the eagles to bring fresh pine sprigs to the nest, because it's a sign that they're getting the nest ready for the new season. And now we see the pine sprigs have arrived. As a reminder, we could see an egg around the end of January or beginning of February.
Good Morning Mits....
Thanks, and the same to you.
Finland started out beautifully at first light, then a snowstorm hit, and now all serene and peaceful again

December Eagle newsletter for Blackwater, features Blackwater Refuge supporter, Bob Quinn:)
Helen, is there a link for that, or do you get it in the mail?
Please and Thanks...
been missing Bob on here
Woosh, all gone.
Lynne in PA
Lynne...I am sorry about Bobbiesox...
where were you before coming to PA
Posted my pic. Do not know what is with the time on the posting. I checked my computer's clock, and it is correct.
it has something to do with universal time Shirley...I forget the term for it.
Great picture!
I'm still adding mne to album then have to weed some out
Sorry about Bibbiesox.
I lived in the Houston TX area from 1967 until I came to PA to care for my elderly Mom in 2007. I was born here, but moved away in early childhood.
okay thanks Lynne. My brother lived in Houston for a long long time, I have been there twice, he finally retired and moved and lives in Ct in the summer, and Naples Fla in the winter.
He did not like Houston much.
sorry about Bobblesox, Granny.
Margy, BW letter comes in my email.
Googled universal time. Don't want to try to wrap my brain around it right now. Thanks, Margy. Strange.
have a nice day everyone..busy here..TTYL
Thanks, Bob (as I called her) was a real trooper. She was found wandering the streets covered with fleas and latex paint. My TX Vet shaved her, treated the fleas, spayed her, etc. and she lived at the Vet clinic for 6 months before I got her. And she flew on an airplane up here at age 13. My Mom called her "a dear little girl with a boy's name".
The Blackwater cams are one of my favorites. Lisa does such a good job of keeping us informed..
See you Mits, been fun. I would like to get that newsletter.
Lynne...Bobbiesox has crossed the Rainbow Bridge...do you have that link? I will send it to you. Our Lynne2, recently lost her precious Raven...the two are together now ☺
And be sure to check out the two Holiday Greetings on each cam, and the Osprey Gallery, really nice.
The Rainbow Bridge
xo ♥ (( hugs ))
before I go...Pandas are outside at NZ, like they were yesterday a.m.
Looks like it's snowing in Finland--or foggy.
WONDERFUL NEWS, THERE IS A NEW THREAD! ☺
Panda at NZ munching on some bamboo.
Hmmm
