Good morning! Boy, I slept in today! Very rare for me, but I needed it.

Going to adjust my attitude today. Going to finish decorating and clean up around here. Tomorrow I will do some shopping and have an appointment for my hair.

I think Megan should start an online service and ship her wreaths! I want one! How cool would that be!

It is a late start for me, so I am leaving. Just wanted to say my morning greetings. Have a great day!

magpie said...

Well, Lolly, sounds like you got that brighter disposition this morning, and a good night's rest behind it!

Hi Jim also...!

TTFN headed to Morgan County.
Yay for me !

Good morning, everyone!
Wow, it's cold this morning! My fingers are so stiff I can barely type! We've finally gotten some light rain here this morning, and there's a hi of 56 predicted. Need to go get myself put together and go pick up some prescription refills.
Say, Megan, loved that Merle Haggard song! Thanks for that.
Hope you're all being careful if you have to go out in the weather. I'd better get going, 'cause the rain has stopped for now. Will be back in a while to see what's happening. Have a good morning/afternoon, everybody! Will talk to you later. Love you guys!
:o]

movin said...

Finally! We are supposed to be getting rain today and later in the week too...

In fact, I just looked outside, and it is coming down gently now.

Cold out there though.

Sutton Center Eagle nest update -

4 December: Our field crews from OG&E, Atlas Computers, and Sutton placed new cameras
and connection lines at the old nest recently, but we found the eagles are building a new nest
in another location nearby. The new nest is in a difficult situation (for human climbers)
at which to place cameras, but we are doing our best to do so before the eagles lay eggs.
Of course we cannot gain access to the nest once the eggs are laid. This morning the adult female
was back sitting on the crossbar of the old pole nest. Since Bald Eagles often build and maintain
more than one nest in the same vicinity, but finally choose one of the nests in which to
lay eggs and raise young, it is hard to know exactly what might happen. We will keep you posted.

paula eagleholic said...

Oregon nest has snow, too.

hedgie said...

Just had 4 deer out back...hard to see even with the snop because their hair has gotten so dark that they really blend in with the tree bark.

paula eagleholic said...

Moosewatch cam not on yet...

hedgie said...

Paula, interesting....good that they have the means ($$$) to erect a cam at yet another location if they can physically manage to do so.

Yep, Jim, Diego/Cloud is eager.

stronghunter said...

Good morning!! Got my H1N1 shot this morning. Not many students are getting one. All the more reason for me to get mine.

stronghunter said...

Well, I see that is afternoon already. Odd schedule today because of 2-hour delay. Going to go eat my lunch now. Afternoon will be busy.

hedgie said...

Paula, Pook is turning the cam on mostly only morning and evening until the moose come in more frequently.
Did you see the elk?? And the post and pics announcing Scarface'return?? So cool!

hedgie said...

Glad you got the vaccine, Shirley! Better safe than sorry, for sure.

paula eagleholic said...

I saw the pics of the elk...

hedgie said...

Another internet order just arrived. Only one more to go, and it's only 4 items! That will take care of everyone except my daughters---they both have special wants/needs for cash (Christie wants a new kitchen table set, and Carolyn needs new tires) so guess I will give them money, even tho' I don't like to, but still want to get them something special---maybe a sweater. IF THE BAD WEATHER HOLDS OFF, would like to go to BonTon tomorrow afternoon as I have a 20% coupon that expires after Tues.

Meagan, you can come to my magnolia trees - free! Try to get some rest.

Lynn, hope the bad weather holds off until after the luncheon and everyone is safely home. Also, hope

Shirley, glad you got your H1N1 vaccine.

Andy, what's the school schedule? You haven't mentioned any tests
recently.

Prayers for Dana, of course.

hedgie said...

Very scary about Mason's trach----hope they ALWAYS make sure that it is well-secured around his neck-----have seen patients cough them out--inner AND outer cannula when not secured during cleaning.

Paula, thank you for the Sutton Center update.

News item about vultures coming on Ch. 9for all you local folks....eeeewwwwie!

NatureNut said...

Evening Everyone. Haven't been able to get on here all day!

Fubby has been helping me search online for stuff I can't find in stores around here.Gotta make a TX call again tonight to check on a size!
I thought yesterday's vulture saga from yesterday was over as it wasn't spotted. But NO, was still in little tree from last night. This PM I saw it flap to the back of that yard where there are large trees w/ivy, brush, etc. It flies downhill & landed in lots of cover. Before dark there was one higher up, perched in tree. Don't know if it's Buzzy(F's name for it ☺ & he's telling me not to get concerned!!!!) or another. It needs artificial feather transplant like Gabby got for tail. Can't sit in tree for a couple months 'til new ones grow!
If it came to my yard, I'd try to throw some food out for it! Oh well, it is what it is I guess & just have to bite the bullet & hope for the best.

hedgie said...

Neighbors upset because a resident is feeding vultures so they will stay out of her trash---and there a lot of them! Poop shoots all over peoples' rooves and patios, etc. Yucko. Not in Loretta's neighborhood!!! But who knows---maybe she has a neighbor doing the same thing!

Lynne2 said...

about vultures! wow, what did they say?

NatureNut said...

Sorry for typos. My mind is shot!! ☺

Lynne2 said...

we have about 2 miles from here, a neighborhood and a water tower. There are HUNDREDS of them roosting in the evening! Happens every year this time. MESSY MESSY...they VOMIT you know...
Loretta, is there a wildlife rescue in the area you could call?

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Mema Jo, that is so great! You are so loved by so many!

hedgie said...

Well, speak of the devil....and you're even talking vultures, Lowreeda!!!

T-Bird said...

Good evening momsters and dadsters.

hedgie said...

Here's a real Christmas tree tip I never heard before....use warm water in the holder for the first few days.
Can't believe the prices they were showing on trees at a garden center....$139-$169....whew!! Realize that city dwellers don't have easy access to cutting their own tree, but think it would certainly be worth a trip out into the country to go to a tree farm!!

hedgie said...

Hi, Thelma....and every one else comng in the door!
Cool surprise, Jo!!! What color is it?? Your kids are great! Did Ed know??? Did he arrange your outing for the day, and did the kids???

Yep, it's the Capitol tree!

paula eagleholic said...

How awesome, Jo! We need a picture!

Vultures that vomit. Yuck. I had no clue. No wonder with all that dead stuff they eat.

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne2 said...

scroll down to the Behavior section...although I found the whole article interesting!
turkey vultures

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne - some interesting facts there for sure!

Lynne2 said...

yeah, they aren't so bad. A few years ago the DNR proposed a cull of the mute swans on the Chesapeake Bay because they are not indigenous and eat some important bay grasses that upsets the eco system. THOUSANDS of voices were roaring about killing the beautiful swans and I used to laugh and say, boy if it was buzzards no one would care!

Mema Jo said...

Yuckie habit those vultures have! Blah!

Will take a pic when it is finished.
It is multi colored (a swirl pattern) but it has a touch of green about the same as the walls. The coloring is beige tones. He had told his dad he was going to be doing it - but dad said no - but this time son didn't listen! I love it! His dad wanted the cabinets done first...

Mema Jo said...

Time for dinner......

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Good evening Eagle Buds!! Great present Jo! I love stuff like that! Beats the heck out of a toaster! Speaking of small appliances, my mixer bit the dust AGAIN!! I go through more mixers than anyone I know, can't make em last more than six months! (Maybe I use them too much??)

Lolly said...

Wow Jo! What a great gift! I want new kitchen counter tops. Wonder if I can hint to Michael. lol We have remodeled twice. If I could win the lottery, I would so some more. Sigh.......

All decorations are up, house is straight. Worked hard today. Tomorrow shop and hair appointment, wrap presents WED., bake Thurs, pack for trip, party Thursday nite, then leave for McAllen. We will be down there until Monday morning.

hedgie said...

Jo, unless your son can do the cabinets, I suggest checking out Sears refacing. Can save a lot of moolah.
Flooring sounds very pretty!
Yeah, news report mentioned the regurgitation aspect, too----messes from both ends!
I remember that ruckus about the swans, Lynne.
Lolly, sounds like you are in a much better mood today! So glad you are feeling chipper again!
Sissy, you need a good stand mixer---they hold up much better than hand mixers. I went through them like crazy, too. Have had my Sunbeam stand mixer for about 15 yrs. now and still going strong.

Lolly said...

Yep, feeling better.

Stand mixers are the only way to go.

stronghunter said...

Hello,

Got home awhile ago and am finishing my supper.

Had physical therapy again tonight. It's going okay. They keep increasing the levels of things I do.

I will be keeping my eyes on the weather around here, just as you all are doing in WV and MD. My bridge club's Christmas dinner is planned for Wednesday night. Some years we've had to cancel because of bad weather. Most of the ladies are not big about driving in bad weather.

I'm signed up to take a dessert. Will need to think about that tomorrow evening. May need to pick up Hunter from sitter, so I'll be busy.

Lynn, I hope you have good weather for your luncheon.

Jo, what a nice gift! Wow!

Judie, happy to learn you have finished grading the online assignments.

Thelma, maybe you could get some picture of your "lovebirds"! I'll have to try to remember to take my camera with me when I head out the road again to get a picture of the flock.

I just entered on Facebook to win a mixer! I've never used a stand mixer but the hand helds are annoying!

hedgie said...

Judie...if you're hanging in with us....glad you finished your grading. Is tomorrow your apptmt.???
Shirley, hope things clear out for your party. Think they are changing to rain by noon Weds., but temps will be a factor as far as freezing goes.

hedgie said...

Thinks Lynne's link told us everything there is to know about TV's---except that they like to congregate on manure piles!!! LOL! Very interesting onfo.

paula eagleholic said...

Handhelds are great for the smaller jobs...but for serious baking, I love my stand mixer.

I wonder if anyone ever wins any of that stuff on facebook?

Lynne2 said...

Judie...I think the appt. IS tomorrow...PRAYERS

Posted some pics on my blog

Lynne2 said...

Paula, Sharon won her SNUGGIE!!!

hedgie said...

All of the decoration boxes (empty) are stored back under the eaves, except for the tree dressings.
Now for a manicure!

hedgie said...

Yep, Lynne, she sure did----and received it in very reasonable amt. of time, too!

Lynne2 said...

off to shower...hope you enjoy my pictures!

Judie said...

Shirley, hope the weather cooperates for the bridge gathering.

I'm confused. Somebody won something on FB?

I called today and have an appointment on December 22 with the vascular surgeon specialist. I give two final exams, 15th & 17th, and with those exceptions, plan to remain off my feet as much as possible. Interesting, the pain has become almost unbearable in a very short period of time. Back in the wheelchair.

Speaking of off my feet, am turning my light off but will leave the night light on for others. Andy, please set the alarm for us.

Goodnight everyone.

Oh, three deet at PA.

stronghunter said...

Hi Judie,

I was just about to post the information you posted about your plans to call the hospital. Please do stay off your feet. Your health is more important than finals.

I posted some family pictures. A couple of George and a couple of Hunter and Kathryn at Hunter's party. I realize I do not have a good one of Tom. I will have to take care of that.

There are some very nice trees at our school. I want to get some pictures to share.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Yes, I did win it on FB, my very own blue Snuggie!

T-Bird said...

Lynne, I have pictures of the pair and they are so cute. (Sharon took the pictures.)I know everyone says they are ugly but I love their uniqueness.

Lynne2 said...

Judie I am so sorry to hear you are in such pain...prayers prayers and more prayers.

I hope you post them Thelma! I know what you mean about the uniqueness...it's easy to love the beautiful birds. I got a really amazing look at several last week who were, uh, cleaning up some road kill. I need to start carrying my camera around.

Lynne2 said...

Shirley, George is cute! And those bright blue eyes of Hunter's...lady killer in the making!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lynne, I am uploading the ewwwieee pics to Facebook now.

Lolly said...

Shirley, took a peek at your pictures. Saw the picture of Lib with the log. I missed that. Great to see the picture. It is priceless!

Lolly said...

Oh, and that wild new hairdo of Hunters!!!

stronghunter said...

Yeah, I think his hair looks like it needs mowing.

stronghunter said...

My children have always been the palest palefaces around, and Hunter is even paler. It really shows in the picture. Pale face and lots of freckles.

hedgie said...

Rest easy, Judie. Hope you get some relief from your pain. Prayers ongoing. Yes, use the wheelchair!

Can't seem to get anyone's pics to load....will have to check them later....maybe too many look-sees today! Took me forever to get FB to open, too.

stronghunter said...

Good night.

Will see you tomorrow.

Hoping for no ice storms.

Lynne2 said...

OH cool pics Sharon! But now I am confused....are they juvie turkey buzzards (who have dark heads unlike the red heads of the adults) or are they black vultures? Bird identification is so challenging!
Thanks for posting them, they are good pictures!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

They had red faces, I will send the pics out through the email so they will be clearer.

NatureNut said...

Been away most of tonight. Finally found out size I need to know from TX & now can order!
Didn't get to read everything, but see mentioning of something ugly & roadkill???Could that be a eewwiiee? Never thought I'd really like one until our poor disabled one showed up on the block. I wish it came up to my yard & I would figure out how to have a good pitcher send some food out there!
Have to finish pictures, but before dark saw one higher in tree. Can't tell if it's Buzzy or another. Lynne, any experience w/black vultures???

Hope Judie is sawing logs, but sending prayers and good wishes her way.

Watching game~~~poor Ravens. That Rodgers guy is good!A scrambling quarterback.
Have to reheat rest of dinner I didn't finish & get some 'puter shopping done.
For those hitting the hay, Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)

& St. Anthony, have some feathers sent to Buzzy! ☺

Lynne2 said...

OK thanks Sharon!
Interesting fact....they urinate on themselves to kill the bacteria they get from eating dead things. And welcome to the "everything you didn't want to know about vultures" portion of our blog this evening....LOL!

NatureNut said...

Saw about Sharon's vultures. The turkey v adults have the red heads & juvies can be gray or black. TVs have long tails compared to the Blacks.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

OMG, what a lovely thought! Glad I didn't get right under them! :)

Lynne2 said...

No Loretta, I have no experience with vultures. My friend Tracey is coming over tomorrow and she is a vet tech with experience with raptors. You might want to try to call a local wildlife rehab. It would be nice if you could get it some food.

NatureNut said...

I went to Sharon's blog & only saw a pic of TRAIN!? No birds~~~~

Lynne2 said...

She's got them on Facebook.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Okay, so my pic on here now is when Pat was singing Mississippi to me! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I sent the TV pics out through Thelma's email. If you click on slideshow, it will let you view them bigger and clearer.

Lynne2 said...

Loretta, she's got them on E_M email

NatureNut said...

I know some rehabbers and my vet lives across the street. However, if this bird hangs around, it's in someone else's yard & even if permission was given to go there, I think the sight of anything around would spook it good. It seems to only fly "downhill".

NatureNut said...

Thx. Hope I can view.

NatureNut said...

Gotta go for a short while.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Now, Loretta, were you surprised to find a train picture? I haven't been able to learn very well about to post pics on a blog.

Lynne2 said...

those vultures really do look serene, don't they?
Loretta keep us posted...I hope he makes it somehow.

Good Night Floralgirl! ♥

Lolly said...

Well, I am all ready for bed, but not heading that way yet. Jack has a great fire going in the fireplace and I am enjoying sitting back and looking at the tree and the decorations. I think I need my head examined for having so many decorations.

I thought today while putting up the nativity that we talked about tree decorations but not nativity sets. Mine is ceramic and very large. My brother's wife, Sandy, made it. She made one for herself and one for my sister, Sharon and me. We received the pieces over several years. Sometimes even getting something like a camel for a birthday. She painted them and it is beautiful. Jack made stables for all the sets. It is very special. Laurel has our first Nativity set. It was made in Italy and we paid $10 for it. Have since seen it for MUCH more. It is smaller, but a very nice set.

magpie said...

Well, It is Tomorrow!

Happy Happy Birthday to our very special Shirley ! Hope it is your best one ever, filled to the brim with all your favorite things! xoxo ☺ ♥

Good morning. Trouble sleeping.

Jo, what an amazing surprise to come home and find a new floor in the making. I would be jealous if I weren't so very happy for you. Enjoy! Will you be getting new sheetz, also?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHIRLEY!

Thought I might be hungry but after all the info on turkey vultures, I think I'll just go watch tv.

Oh I Missed you, dear Judie!
I was over checking E-M emails...takes awhile.
Yes, I started to have second thoughts about what I had already eaten once reading about the T-V's peeing and pooping all over things..

Rest in the comfort of our prayers, and God's very loving hands.....

xo ♥ (( Hugs ))

Norma, I didn't have time to tell you yesterdsy (you had a dental appt), but I wanted to tell you a story about Bobby Bowden. We were in Ft. Myers Beach many years ago (Sharon!) and were having dinner at a restaurant called ERNIES ON THE BEACH. We discoverd that our waitress was from Fairmont, Wv and began talking about WV. Then, this gentleman came to our table and told us that he used to live in WV also. We chatted for a while with him and he then introduced himself as (you guessed it) BOBBY BOWDEN! Cool...small world, isn't it?
