You know when I was looking for Open House info on the NCTC/USFWS website I saw that the Deer Hunt is scheduled for NCTC property again this year. I know that the food is given to those in need but I wish they would restrict the area AWAY from the nest. Maybe we should look at the dates

I will always feel that the gun shot we heard and then we saw Belle fly up out of the nest to the branch was when she lost that first egg. Helen & I were watching and we both thought the same thing!

Have two cute stories to tell.
Jacob is sleeping in him mothers old room. Joseph is sleeping in Michael's. When they sleep together it takes longer for them to fall asleep. Jacob did not want to sleep in there. He said, with his arms crossed, "I very not want to sleep in here."
Second story is on Joseph. We had yummy bacon pasta for supper. Also, I had green beans for them to eat. Joseph did not want green beans. He said, "What about the sign by the front door? It says kids spoiled here." LOL I have a sign that my sister in law gave me that says "Grandma's house, kids spoiled here." I told him that taking him to Colorado next week, and the beach next months is spoiling grandkids. It does not include laying off the veggies.

Yes, Deb, having a great time. Tonight Michael came with Zach and spent the afternoon and had dinner. We had a great time with all three boys. They had a very good time at Rough Creek Lodge and then went to Fossil Rim, a wildlife park, before coming here.
I have to tell you, Zach is something else. His intelligence is sorta scary. He was three in February. Well, tonight he told us his telephone number, his dad's cell phone, his mom's cell phone, his Nana's home phone and cell phone number. That is amazing. I worry about him as his behavior is not quite normal, but I do know he is off the wall in intelligence.
Lolly, did you read Jo's account of watching her grandaughter at a recital this evening? What a cutie she must be:) Grandchildren are the greatest.
Hi, I have been running around taking care of laundry and checking the messages. Wondered why nobody was saying anything before I realized there had been a split. Getting to be bedtime anyway. Three more days until summer vacation.
Sort of waiting for the dryer to finish up. We had a house fire a few years ago because of a dryer, so I don't like to sleep when it's going.
Don't use thouse plastic dryer hoses. They are not safe.

Yes, I read it! Four year olds are just precious. They do and say the funniest things! Yes, grandkids are just wonderful. At this time in our lives we can really appreciate how cute they are. I think when we are raising our own we did not have the time to sit back and get a good look at the whole picture.

Jo, definitely think the petition is a good idea. As I hypothesized way back when we didn't have hatches....I think the shock of the gunshots caused a big adrenaline rush in Belle's system....the adrenaline penetrated the soft eggshells and killed the embryos. It's truly a miracle that Hidey was not affected, but (s)he was apparently in an earlier stage of development. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
Evening, all. Had a good day down at Mom's. Brothers and kids and everyone there, so we all went through dishes, stuff, etc.
I had been looking for my Mom's wedding ring and some other jewelry...couldn't find it for months. Finally found it today! We all laughed, it was hidden right under our noses!

Jim and Andrea....heard the news about the tanker fire out there....we had one here a couple of days ago---interstate was shut down for like 12 hrs.! 8500 gallons of fuel! Luckily, no one hurt here.

Paula, I am so glad that you have a wonderful family to help with your Mom's things. It is such a hard thing to do, but with the right loving attitude it can be better experience.
My Uncle Bob didn't get to come. He decided that flying in and then back home was too much for one day. We were all worried about that, too. It would have been really nice to see him, but understood why he couldn't make it.
Nite all! Time to head to the shower. Tomorrow going to take the boys to Glen Rose to Dinosaur Valley State Park. Should be a great day IF we can tolerate the heat. Hope to get a faily early start.

Well Lolly, we have been trying to get things organized for months...finally to the point where it's pretty much done, so we all went through the house and took what we wanted... there are still some things to be taken out, then the rest will go to acution.

Paula, when my Dad died, Mom packed up his clothing and shoes and I gave them all to a few needy families, in person. I cried as I told the family that I hoped they would enjoy them. Never thought something like that would be so heart wrenching!

Ok, I have to tell this....Last Sunday, I forgot to take some comfy shoes to wear after church and feet hurt all day an night. Today, I remembered to take comfies and when I went to put them on, before going to the plant nursery, I discovered that I had two different shoes and were both the right foot. My blonde roots a showing again;)

Hostage situation still in progress when I left work...not sure what the overall plan will be, but the Hedgesville High School is opened up the Red Cross to feed and shelter those who had to leave their homes and won't be able to return until this is over.
Affected quite a lot of households.

Pretty funny over at NBG - somebody is apparently looking for the eaglets (who are not in the nest) by scanning the hillsides using the camera, zooming in a out on faraway trees. Interesting.

Good morning! Was poked in the ribs at 7 this morning. Rolled over and there were two shining faces smiling at me. Ohhhhh!!!!!
We will be heading out shortly for Glen Rose and Dinosaur Valley State Park. There are real dinosaur tracks in the river bed and outside the park there is a commericial outfit that has over 100 dinosaur life size models, a dig, etc. Joseph has been there but this will be Jacob's first time. He is excited!
OK eaglet will probably fledge today, since I will not be here.

Suzanne is indeed thrilled about the Osprey chicks at Finney's, and has seen them with her own eyes, as I finally did just a few minutes ago.
Hidey is giving us the slip so far I take it this morning? Great day for fishing...guess he is in Summer School as Wanda used to say last year.

The normal clutch of eggs for all species of flamingo is one. Very rarely are two eggs laid, and it is thought that when this occurs, two different females may be involved. Egg measurements and weights vary widely between individuals, but on average, they weigh 140 grams (five ounces) and measure 90 x 55 millimeters (about 3.5 x 2 inches). Immediately after laying, the egg is pure white with a chalky texture. Soon after, however, the egg is often marked with mud from the nest site. No Offsprings at the Vetschau Stork Eyrie
After further daily observations of the behaviour of Cico and Luna, we have to conclude sadly, that there are no more stork chicks at the Internet eyrie at Vetschau. No feeding and the combined absence of both parent storks points with certainty to this conclusion. It is most regretable.
Two of the dropped chicks will be brought on June 12th to the Institute for Animal Pathology of the Free University of Berlin. There they will be examined for the probable cause of death. As soon as the results of the investigation are available they will be made known. The assumption that the cause is again aspergillosis is very possible. in general, our white stork caregivers rule out food scarcity and weather conditions because at other stork eyries of the vicinity such incidences have not been observed to this point during the raising of young stork.

As of noon hostage situation still going on. Daughters' friend who lives in development put on Facebook that the CRIMINAL had told police he "didn't mean to hurt her" and the police were getting ready to storm the house, but this was not mentioned on Ch. 25's noon news. Power and water have been turned off. Animal Control was escorted in to evacuated homes to feed and water pets. About time! Poor animals.

OH, Hedgie...you are correct...was thinking our visit w/ Hidey was when he was 11 weeks old...it was when he was 10 weeks old....so Hidey has been flying for 2 weeks now.
