Margy the sea and the stars are very clear tonight....I missed the rocket take off from Wallops Island, it was scheduled between the hours of 7:30 and 11:30, not sure what time it actually took off.....lots of fishing boats doting the horizon

I have some sad news from my family. My dad was killed in a car accident today. I was waiting to say anything on the blog until we knew what was going to happen next, but that is going to take longer than we hoped. It looks like the services might be delayed as my dad's sisters from Louisville are on vacation in Hilton Head. I am doing okay, don't think it has hit me yet, too many calls to make and details to help with.

Mema Jo said...

Just signed in - What position are you calling the launch pad - 2:00?

paula eagleholic said...

Deb, I am so very, very sorry to hear about your Dad. You know that you have the love and support of everyone here on this blog. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

(((Hugs)))

hedgie said...

Mits, that's very nice of them to do your furniture, too! Hope they didn't make a mess for you inside!!!
Vick, some go to the nest rather frequently....a bunch of us get together and make a trip periodically. So much fun! A lot of us live relatively close-by.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh, Deb, how tragic!! My heart, thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family!!

magpie said...

I don't see Hidey either, Sharon....

:(

paula eagleholic said...

He's at 4ish Jo, behind the splotch.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I think I see Hidey at the launch pad. Looks like some of her is behind the smudge mark.

Mits said...

Deb, we are so sorry for your loss, prayers are headed your way

Deb, so very sad for you. Hope you feel my arms around you at this difficult time. So tragic. So glad that you had time with him when you went out for the wedding. If there is ANYTHING we can do for you, please let us know....we are here for you. Please let us know the arrangements when you get things finalized. Love and hugs to you and your family.

Deb...So very sorry to hear about your Dad. My Dad was killed in an accident years ago, and it does seem like when death comes so sudden and unexpected that we have a harder time with the reality of it. Keep family and friends close to you, it helps alot. My prayers are with you.

We may be miles apart but you know we are here for you

vick37 said...

I am in Mason WV. I worked last summer in Preston Co. Is that close to the nest?

paula eagleholic said...

Heading to bed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Deb ♥

Hugs to all ♥

magpie said...

Our Eaglet has returned to his visible nest spot.
Preston County is about five counties Westward from here Vick, so, not very close... but you are closer to NormaByrd, and we have a Carole in Terra Alta!

paula eagleholic said...

The nest is in Berkley county, I believe. Near Charlestown and Harpers Ferry, along the Potomac River, across from Maryland, and close to Virginia as well.

hedgie said...

Vick, the nest is in Jefferson County. It, along with Berkeley and Morgan make up the Eatern Panhandle, which is sandwiched between MD and VA!

hedgie said...

Make that EASTERN!!
Calling it a day. Prayers for all, especially our Deb and her family. May God hold you in the palm of His hand, and give you peace.

Mema Jo said...

Message from CHIL Eagle CAM You may be interested to know that Dr. Sharpe and the IWS are planning on banding the Two Harbors nest eaglets on Friday, May 22nd and the West End nest eaglets on Friday, June 5th. The Two Harbors nest has 2 chicks (hatch dates 3/26 and 3/28). It was the FIRST TIME this nest was left to hatch naturally. The West End nest has 2 chicks (hatch dates 4/7 and 4/9) It was also the FIRST TIME this nest was left to hatch naturally.

DEAR DEB...my heart is aching for you now. What a tragic way to lose a loved one. I am at a loss for words, so I will pass this Psalm on to you:
In my distress I cried unto the lord, and he heard me.

May peace be with you and healing in your heart very soon.
Feel our arms around you when you need a friend or a hug.

Magpie, as I was trying to catch up on the blog, I saw that there was another earthquake here. Would you believe it-- I was so busy running around doing chores, that I didn't even notice! Say, it's good to see Hidey all comfy IN the nest tonight! Hey, Paula, the video of Hidey NOT hiding is fantastic!...that reminded me to go vote for Bob's pic again! Well, have an appt. tomorrow morning at South Coast College. Better try to get some sleep! Talk to you guys in the morning. Prayers for all, and wishes for a good night!
P.S.-- Magpie, I promise I'll hang on in case of another shaker! :o]

magpie said...

I can't sleep, so I see a Bear at the Snowman cam, looks like an adult

Lori O. said...

Yeah - you guys are up early this morning. Or were you up and have since gone back to bed?

Memma Jo -
thanks for the heads up on the West End eaglets. Their mommy is the best. She is nearly always with them. A sweet nest.

Deb - I'm new here, but good thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Bless you all. . . I can't even imagine.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Good morning Lori. I am here, started work at 4:30 this morning, trying to get the day in before this cough wears me down. Hidey has been surveying his/her domain this morning!

Lori O. said...

I feel so sad for her when she just sits there looking out like "I want to fly!" Or is she waiting for her breakfast delivery?

I get to work at 3:45am every day so I'm always up early.

Lori O. said...

Here she is! On the camera again.
Very graceful, too.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

She hides very well under the cam, doesn't she?

MJCAT said...

good morning ... blogging is new to me .... how do I read Steve's threads?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Welcome!! Glad you are here. What do you mean "Steve's threads"? Where you type on the blog is the thread and there are blue highlighted "Older, Oldest", "Newer, Newest" to go forward and backward on the thread and read earlier comments.

Hope that helped, I can be clear as mud sometimes! ☺

MJCAT said...

Sissy ... what I am confused about is i.e. Tuesday thread posted by Steve Chase at 7:50 AM on May 19, 2009 .... how can I read Steve's thread? where is it posted?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I was lucky when I started on here, I had my sister to show me what to do.

magpie said...

Good Morning early people...just passing through, checked a few things.
Loch of Lowe's had a successful hatch of the 3rd egg...one chick died yesterday morning, now, new life at that nest, the other chick was hatched May 15 or 16.

Norfolk is to affix a transmitter to one of their eaglets this morning around 10 o'clock according to their site.

Suzanne said, that earlier, that one of the three eaglets is not in the nest any more. No details on that, but I can't get the cam to open to have a look...

checking out again, see you friends in a little while...

Thoughts and Prayers for Deb and her family, first and foremost.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

That is where we type our blog, called a thread. We are on Steve's thread. Am I just confusing you more? Hopefully someone will come on shortly that knows better how to help, I am so illiterate in this stuff!! ☺☺☺

floralgirl said...

Deb- so very sorry to read the news about your Dad.(((((HUGS))))

Lori O. said...

Good morning Magpie!

Oh how I wish we could have a band and GPS transmitter for Hidey so we would always know where she is and that she's doing well.

Don't worry about being new MJCAT -I am, too. Really - no stress here.

Lori O. said...

Well, at least she is visable, even if it's only her cute head, in front of the camera again.

hedgie said...

Good morning Eagle dudes anbd dudettes.
Suz sent this info this am at about 2---

Just brought the cam up and they were panning all over the place, ground
to trees. They finally brought the cam back to the nest, and there are
only two eaglets in the nest. Now they are zooming way out, but can't
see the third eaglet. Hope he's alright. Big wing flaps on one, but they
have been doing flaps for a while now. Wonder what happened? I hope they
send someone out there to look for him, he may have fallen or tried to
fly and just didn't have the strength to get very far.

Nothing on the blog other than the transmitter being attached today at
10 to one of the eagles.

Zoomed way out, but don't see any parents on or near the nest tree and
still just the two eaglets.

Good grief, Nature will surely give you grey hair!

GA-GIRL said...

MORNING YA'LL. cloudy windy and 60 ga degrees this morning. Had to check on Hidey first thing.

I am so very sorry to hear of Debs dads death. My prayers are with her and her family!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

MJcat--this IS "the thread"! If Steve writes anything, it will appear where he write "new thread" or whatever he puts each day---most days!! Sometimes later than others. So anyway, you are in the right place to blog. If you want to read more about Steve himself, he has lots of links on the right-hand side of the page. Welcome.

Good morning everybody. My thougths and prayers are with Deb this morning. Bless her heart. Life can change in a split second.

Hidey got a breakfast drop a few minutes ago I think.

Costume Lady said...

Hidey is either whining for a parent to come and tear that food apart, or warning them to stay away.

ceil said...

Good morning all.
Deb so sorry to hear about the death of your father. Wish we all lived closer to you.

Mei is dragging more bamboo into the den....guess no serious "get down to birthing business" still...yet....again...hmmmm.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Hidey has body parts stuck on her beak!!

hedgie said...

From Suz-------
I just checked NBG again, they have taken the cam off the air. Nothing
but a black screen, and so far, no update from the biologists either.
They have the transmitter installation this morning at 10, and that's
supposed to be on cam, so I'm guessing we will hear something before
then. I think they may be out looking for the eaglet. I hope if he fell
he just got a little bruised or something, not seriously hurt.

Anyone who can get that cam, please keep an eye out....I can't get it 90% of the time!

Costume Lady said...

I haven't been able to get NBG at all this season. Last season, had no problem...it is a wonderful cam, if you'r lucky enough to get it!:(

Lori O. said...

Hey everyone - best of the morning to you.

Hedgie - what camera is Suz referring to? Can never have to many bird cams to watch :).

I want to go Saturday. Spent hours online yesterday trying to find a way to increase my telephone power of my camera.

Lori O. said...

Thank you KINDLY---BLUEFIELD SHARON!----I did remember something---yesterday---DEB remarked that when parents want their EAGLETS to FLEDGE---they sometime withhold food!!!---Didn't our FIRST group do that---they just kept lingering & coming home too often?? ho!---

Costume Lady said...

Suz just made this comment:

One thing's for sure, if this eaglet keeps hanging around on the tree by
the cam, we will sure get a good view of him! He flew down to the nest
from here, yesterday. Very cool to see, so I hope he does that on
Saturday too. Or even fledges!

Costume Lady said...

That eaglet is sure to entertain us Saturday! Might even try to join us in the Eagle Express:)

Costume Lady said...

Wish I could have captured that yawn!

Aimeecat said...

Good morning all;

I am so excited to have another day of Hidey watching!
So, what happens have he/she leaves the nest. Will the cam be turned off. I assume the nest will no longer be used until time for new babies?
