My favorite Jacks site has been turned into houses...and I think it is past time for them, maybe. But the Ladies Slippers, or Moccasin flowers, a specialty for Mother's Day, need to go find some !

I'm sleepy, so I guess it is time to go to bed. Maybe I can find some Red Pajamas...☺

Hope you all have a great Wildlifing kind of day!

Good news that Lowreeda is okay !

See you all in a few hours or so.

OK nest 7 May: The chick is showing less and less gray down and more and more dark feathers.
6 May: We hope to be able to get a nest cam working again this week or next, so that we, like you, can
continue to monitor the growth of the eaglet. Forecasted rainy weather this week may continue
to cause power problems intermittently. In the coming week we will be installing a
fresh set of deep-cycle batteries, as well as a small wind generator
that will supplement the solar power, and will be mounted in such a way as to pose
no threat to the eagles or other wildlifeupdates.....

Hey, everybody. Have meant to stop in to say I did indeed visit the nest site on Monday, and it was a great time. I've been talking about it all week.

The nest is just huge.

Hidey and Belle were in it, in the rain, nicely positioning themselves variously for me to get multiple angles on their hanging out.

What an experience.

GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON, EVERYONE!
(It's still morning here in SoCal.)
I've been watching Hidey for a bit-- caught that big s-t-r-e-t-c-h of her right wing! Wish we had a periscope so we could see what she's watching down below. Is that the pesky ziploc bag just below Hidey and slightly to the right? Looks like it's stuck under a branch. Hey, the sun's shining!!!!!
Hope Mits, Lolly & Sharon feel better & better, really quickly!
Wow, that's a BIG fish in the nest!
SoCal weather report: it's about 65 here right now; expected hi is
80. Sun's shining; it's gorgeous out!!! Whoa-- easy there, Hidey!
Hang on tight! (She sure is getting some good exercise right now.) I'm concerned that one of these days she'll perch on a branch that's just loose in the nest, and take off, branch and all!
Phew-- looks like she's settling down for awhile, now. Well, my last load of laundry is calling my name, so BBIALW. Take care, everyone, and have a great afternoon! :o]

normabyrd said...

Hi all. I am in Houston, TX and have been watching for about a week - Hidey is hilarious! I also appreciate the photos you post on your own blogs. I learned about this via a link posted at U2.com (a fan site for the band U2) - you just never know how word gets around!

Lolly said...

GA GIRL go ahead and peek! We have worked hard in our "Garden" and are proud of it! We have had our ponds about 9 years. Had it professionally done. We could not have hauled in the rock.

Looking at HI. very up close and personal with dad(?) right in to the camera. but, why does the big s/he keep pecking the little fellow in the head?? and then it just lays there...bully!!!

Mema Jo said...

lol - Watching the Hornby feeding
One for you and One for you
Whoops Two for you No Fair!

Pecking order - the oldest always seems to peck at the younger. The younger sometimes is very wise just to "Play Dead"! It is true that the Pecking can be fatal to a much younger chick..It is just nature's survival of the fittest!
Something we humans have a hard time coping with at times.

Mema Jo said...

Well the Hornby feeding could steal your heart away! I love the looks of the little eaglets' wings as though they are in a hug position!
Way to go "Short Stuff" Get in there and get some for you!

I'll BBILW

ltl said...

Hidey's workin' that fish on her own again. :)

wvgal_dana said...

Hi EVERYONE in Eagleland ( :

Just got on a few seconds ago. Hidey is really working that fish over. That is one good thing about being the only eaglet in the nest.

That large of peice our other 3 would have been mantling and fighting over. lol Spunky would have stole some. That fish wouldn't be that large for long. Torn to 3 chucks!!

Have this thread of comments to catch up on.

ltl said...

Is the sound not working, or is that something on my computer?

wvgal_dana said...

WOW again so many new people that have been watching. Have decided to join in on comments Anna, Bill, Peggy, Vicky, and Becky WELCOME.

I hope Steve does get the sound working next week. It will make it even better in here.

Isn't that adult parent of Hidey just beautiful. The wind blowing its feathers. Looking up probably watching the other parent in the branches in the tree.

wvgal_dana said...

Yes Mema Jo we are coming back up on Beakspeak listing. Maybe we will get back to being #1 there.
As you say we know we are.

It is easy to hit favorities instead of going to Beakspeak and hitting NCTC there but to get back to #1 on the list that is what everyone has to do to bring them to the nest to watch.

I just put Beakspeak in my favorities right above the outdoor site. So it is easy to just click there then on NCTC. Bingo I'm here and our nest is counted.
