Lolly said...

Where is everyone? I know I yelled loud and clear!

Costume Lady said...

LOLLY...just got my seeds. YOU ARE ONE SPECIAL LADY! Thank you sooo much. Can't wait to plant them. My purple ones are just now blooming...will send seed as soon as they form and dry out! WONDERFUL, I AM SO HAPPY:) THANK YOU!

Lolly said...

Well, since everyone has disappeared, I am going to do some cam watching!

Costume Lady said...

Oh, yes, I heard you Lolly. I was watching cold case and came in here to see who was yelling:) I think many of us watch that show, and then "The Unit".

Lolly said...

Yea! I am glad you got your seeds! That was fun sending them to you.

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks for the call over Lolly.

Yep in here plus watching Cold Case.

So happy Mits stopped in but I know she still isn't feeling very well.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the holler, Lolly!

Magpie just informed on the old thread that the still cam is back up and working.

Bibee said...

Mema Jo, thanks for the links. I have added them to my favorites list. I really appreciate the help. I have joined the eaglet momsters group. I signed up the other day. PBS special was good. I also enjoyed the part about the whale.

Thanks for the New Thread News, Lolly, and Thanks Steve for the new thread....

Mema had a feeling in her bones it was coming!

Thanks Lolly also for the alert for Hornby

Wow that wood duck hatching was a scream! Impossible to count how many there were, and that last little run finally figured the way out!

magpie said...

run = runt

Going to post the link again, and sent it to Mits via email...

Nice Pictures Wanda on Just for Fun....

Bibee said...

Deer and raccoons in the PA woods. I have been checking out the links on the momsters site. Lots to look at.

magpie said...

Hey - I got a special field trip scheduled Monday to some local haunts with the lady in charge of Friends of NCTC - we are both doing our un-rain dance tonight, so you all keep your fingers and toes crossed for us, Please?
I don't want to say Pray for No Rain....but a little reprieve would be much appreciated !

paula eagleholic said...

Bibee - there are links at the momsters group as well...

The whale was neat too...lots of wildlife there.

Sorry your neuralgia is causing you pain today. Do they know what causes it? Are you on meds for it?

magpie said...

Bibee
It is a real treat to have you with us...and your enthusiasm is uplifting! ☺

magpie said...

Yeah Pix Pa looks good with deer and raccoons, guess the deer finally lost their antlers.

Be forewarned...the carcass site, is a little, well, what's the word?
Yucky! But, many wild creatures gain their sustenance from these remains...it only shows up on the cam once in awhile, it is motion-activated.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh yeah, speaking of eats...the white tailed eagle brought a lamb to the nest!

wvgal_dana said...

Nite friends in Eagleland
Prayers for those that need them.

Lolly said...

I have not watched that cam, Paula. That would have upset me for sure!

magpie said...

Wow, that is heavy duty, Paula...
I missed the show, and am not sure I get that PBS Channel now, someone mentioned that some of the PBS Channels have "gone digital in a different way ???"
What network was it on? MPT ? can you help me out ?

Got to call Comcast and see what's up...

Lolly said...

I am thinking of getting ready for bed. Have been coughing all day and my head hurts. Think a hot shower would do me good as well as comfy PJ's.

BBL

magpie said...

Lolly!
I was where you are, about a week ago. Did you lose your voice?

Hope you feel better, I think I actually coughed my brains out for a few days there....
medicine helped, a Lot, also rest, and gallons of juice!

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly - it was on the PBS show. They think the lamb had already died...to the eagle it was carrion. It wasn't graphic. Just showed the eagle bringing it to the nest, and some feeding, which wasn't graphic.

Margy - I have Dish, so I get PBS WETA (CH 26) out of Washington DC.

deb said...

I am home, we just beat dark in getting off the river, but we had so much fun. We saw 8 Eagles, one Osprey, lots of Piping Plovers (endangered) and Spotted Sandpipers.

Bibee said...

Paula eagleholic, Yeah I take Lyrica for the neuralgia. I have been to over 30 doctors for this pain. I even went to Charleston and had 6 weeks of pain block shots in my face - needles of both side with no numbing - just about killed. That didn't help either. Went to WVU - doctor said I would just have to live with the pain. Wow, I really appreciated that diagnosis. This is why I can't teach. Stress increases the pain. It really wasn't the kids causing the stress as much as it was some of the staff. So, I finally got my disability. Believe me, I would rather be back in the classroom that having all this face pain.

magpie said...

That avatar of Momsmiley's is Way Cool !

Bibee... hang in there, this sounds tough...we have a pretty powerful Prayer Chain on here !

Paula, thanks.
I do have WETA, maybe it will be aired again..I lost MPT and the other PBS Channel, so I can't watch Austin City Limits anymore :(

NatureNut said...

Dere's Da Bear!!!Must really like that spot!
Back to show--commercial over...

magpie said...

Can't wait to see your pictures when they come up, Deb Wow, you really squeezed a lot of pleasure out of this week-end! ☺

magpie said...

NatureNut - I can't see your Avatar!
it is a box with a red x :(

magpie said...

Hidey is awake.

deb said...

Yes, I did squeeze the pleasure out. All of the Eagles, but one, were Juvies. Two of them stayed in their trees as we kayaked under them, it was wonderful. I got three new birds to add to my list, Brown Thrasher, Piping Plover and Yellow-throated Warbler. Maybe Spotted Sandpiper, can't remember if I have seen it yet. I took 158 pictures, so it will be a while before I get them done. I think one of the eagle shots has loaded though, I am excited about that one.

Mema Jo said...

Sneaked this thread in on me while I was watching my TO BE CONTINUED TV show of Cold Case! You are know how I dislike even HATE continued TV shows! Oh Well It is what it Is! NCIS was also continued last week on Tues...

magpie said...

My gosh it's daylight in Finland already, only 5:25 am there...birds on both nests roosting

magpie said...

And as we know now, those two birds are roosting on Eggs - plural at the Water nest, and maybe singular at the Land nest.

magpie said...

Oh, land nest not bird, you can see the egg, kind of grainy looking

Mema Jo said...

Bibee are you Kat?

magpie said...

Hidey is standing up and looking around..

Oh, Brown Thrasher, a beautiful bird...Megan will be happy to hear this, Deb...☺

magpie said...

You knew it was coming, Jo the new thread, that is...

deb said...

Juvie picture is on Deb's Photos, I was almost right below it when I got this shot.

Bibee said...

Going to bed, rain is so steady here. It's been one week today since I found this site. Thanks for making my week better. I look forward to many more days with all you eagle buddies. This has really helped me out this week because most of the time, I just lie in the bed. The neuralgia really gets to me. I just do the best that I can. Sweet dreams to everyone out there! Talk to you tomorrow!

magpie said...

FANTASTIC, DEB !

Mema Jo said...

Sometimes the bear climbs the tree to the right to get to the feeder! He has been a pretty regular visitor the past week.

Cowboys staffer paralyzed after accident 5/3/2009 6:26:00 PM
Associated Press/AP Online

IRVING, Texas - A Dallas Cowboys scouting assistant sustained permanent paralysis from the waist down after he was injured when the team's tent-like practice structure collapse in a severe storms.
The team announced that Rich Behm was in stable condition at Parkland Hospital on Sunday after surgery to stabilize a fracture that severed the spinal cord.

The 33-year-old Behm was among a dozen people hurt in the accident Saturday, and was one of three Cowboys staffers who remained hospitalized.

Joe DeCamillis, the team's special teams coach, sustained a fracture of one of his cervical vertebrae without paralysis. He was in stable condition and scheduled for surgery Monday.

hedgie said...

Oh, Margy, so glad you got the whole night off! Scanner is pretty quiet. Guess the rain is finally keeping the loonies off the road (no insult to the lovely Loons intended!)
Deb, beautiful juvie!!
Helen, hope you get a good nights' rest, and wake up feeling even more better!!
Bibee, know you are gone, but if you read this in the morning....have they tried BOTOX on the trigeminal nerve?
I had a temporary form of it, and luckily it resolved after they finally got a neurology consult. He got the right med on the first try, and it was gone almost immediately....after suffering for 6 weeks, going thru' ear drops, sinus films, brain scan, etc. from family dr. before consult!
Goodnight, dear friends. Prayers for all for wellness, peace and happiness.

Good morning eagle buds! Monday came very quickly this time!

movin said...

Looking closer at BWO and talking back and forth with Suzanne by email, we think it is possible that the Mom Osprey is at BWO still.

I could originally only see a small black spot in the nest that looked like the wet bottom of the box. But now we've seen some white and some small movement.

Looking to the left of the spot, I think I see long feathers like her wing or tail; so I'm hopeful it will turn out that she is tenting so well she couldn't be seen!

Hey Margy: The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a nature walk May 10 at CraftWorks, a new craft school set in a nature preserve south of Charles Town. The walk explores Cool Spring Marsh, a marl marsh supporting at least 18 species of rare West Virginia plants and a wide variety of animal life. The marsh is the first Shenandoah Wet Prairie identified in West Virginia, and is sustained by Bullskin Run, which runs through the property. The walk, which begins at 2pm, will be led by The Nature Conservancy’s state director, Rodney Bartgis. CraftWorks is located at 1673 Lloyd Road, about 5 miles southwest of Charles Town (see www.craftworksatcoolspring.org for directions).

I see the BWO mom IS there!

Did you see that pic I sent out? She is so good at camouflage that she looked like about a 6" dark spot in the bottom of the box ... course it was dark as the inside of a box too.

It almost looks like snow or hail in the Sheptown nest now... weather channel says it's pretty warm though.

Dana, I saw and reported an egg in the 'Finny' nest bowl 2 or 3 days ago. That's when you guys told me the Finnish water nest already had two eggs. I saw the egg just as clearly as if it was on the desk in front of me. She might have just laid it, as she had been setting for a long while and was standing in or right next to the egg bowl when I saw it.

She should be due to lay another any time now.

I wonder why they have nothing in the notes on the Finnish nest itself.
