Great shots of eggs at Finney water nest, gals! TY for sending.
Land nest bird seems to be content just sitting...wonder what she has under her??

Mema Jo said...

I have eaten my brunch! Feel much much better!
The RTH chicks are really growing
Feathers starting to darken.

Mema Jo said...

If the Finney Land rises - hit the Zoom in - You might see something.

hedgie said...

I didn't realize that they had closed the whole thing before now.

Mema Jo said...

The RTH chicks still have the one DUD
egg in their nest.

hedgie said...

Yes, Jo, I've been zoomed in for a little while, but can't keep it up for long since it's live stream...don't want the Hughes cop to nab me!

normabyrd said...

HEDGIE!---I posted earlier that I thought I had seen an EGG in the FINLAND NEST!!----(land nest0

The ME cam has such a beautiful incubating eagle in the nest.

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks Mema Jo for update on Mei. Heard it on 11 o'clock news last night.

deb said...

WW Osprey is off the eggs, at least two eggs in the nest. I can't tell if the one on the left is one egg or two.

deb said...

I got a little note from Helen. She said there is no pain relief and that she will either call the dr. today or tomorrow. I vote for today, but I know Sundays are hard to get things done on.

There is one egg in the Finny nest!

Mema Jo said...

I took a quick look but she was right back on them on the WW osprey cam.

I have the Loon cam up
It is so peaceful
I have the sound up - I wish I could be
startled by a Loon Call!!!

Mema Jo said...

Got a short note too, Deb from our gal!
I vote for ASAP... Pain is not conducive
to healing!

Mema Jo said...

Little NBG Rebels surely are growing & getting the good pin feathers in!

Is is May 20 for the transmitter to be placed on one of them?

paula eagleholic said...

5 chicks in Harrisburg....the last one hatched this morning...

hedgie said...

And you were right, Norma!
Congrats to that pair, too!
My cardinals are having fun in the rain. Wish I knew where (if) they have their nest. Used to build in a yew across from deck but it has thinned out so much over the years that it no longer provides any protection.
I think Mits should go to the ER today.

deb said...

I told her the same thing, Jo. I hope they can find something that doesn't upset her stomach, but is strong enough to cut the pain.

normabyrd said...

PA PERGRINE FALCON is still setting on her nest!----At least 4 have hatched---would bet all 5!---she looks as if she has the hiccups---her body kinda jumps every now & then!---COOL!

hedgie said...

Just finished writing my letter to the White House for 90th birthday greetings for my Mom....guess it will be kind of a joke surprise for her...she is not an Obama fan, but at 90 she deserves presidential recognition!

Mema Jo said...

QUICK Look at Hornby's Chirper!

normabyrd said...

PAULA---where did you read that 5 had hatched in PA?---

hedgie said...

Usually injectable meds will not upset the stomach...when I broke mine, the morphine by IV is what finally broke through the pain cycle. That's why I want her to go to the ER!!

Mema Jo said...

My thoughts & prayers also Hedgie for Mits to get some comfort.

Mema Jo said...

Glad to see our adult still hanging out with Hidey!

momsmiley said...

Has anyone noticed that Lib and/or Belle has been in the nest pretty much ALL DAY with Hidey?? Does that mean anything???? Just wondering??!!

normabyrd said...

HEDGIE---That is so thoughtful!!---She won't mind -- He's the PRESIDENT!!-----she will be happy!!

Mema Jo said...

Both adult falcons in the PA nest - talking to one another!

Mema Jo said...

Of course I was typing and probably missed seeing the little ones if there were a switch.

Mema Jo said...

NO Momsmiley nothing to be concerned about. How was the dance! Any pics?

paula eagleholic said...

Momsmiley = probably because of the wet weather. They seem to be really protective of their only chick this year. Has anyone else noticed that?

paula eagleholic said...

Someone on another forum saw all 5 chicks at Harrisburg this morning...

normabyrd said...

I think -- even though our AWESOME 'BIG BIRD' is in the nest----I think her 'HEART' is down & out of the nest!!----SHE--can't quit peering over the side!! ho!

Mema Jo said...

PA falcons has a time shuffling all those chicks under them. It is funny how the adult wiggles like shaking up
those chicks!

Yes I have noticed Paula. I don't think Hidey will take off on schedule first part of June - I think she has it too
good in her nest!

momsmiley said...

Thanks!!

paula eagleholic said...

I need to get up off my duff and get something done! Hard to do today...feel so lazy with this weather...

Good afternoon Eagle buds! Back home from the lake :(((

Sharon agrees that there is something wrong with the male's beak at HI. That is depressing. I saw something yesterday but I was on the boat and the glare is so bad that I couldn't tell for sure.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I can't get to their blog, so I don't know if anyone has said anything about it.

I am so sorry to hear Mits is not getting any relief. I didn't hold much hope for that Celebrex helping acute pain like this, it is more for arthritis pain and stuff like that.

Mema Jo, I am so grateful you are feeling better. I had triple pneumonia 3 years ago and I thought I was dying, sickest I have ever been in my life. You are such a trooper.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Hidey is closer to the launching pad than she usually is. Maybe she is getting used to the view from there!

I was just gonna ask you about the ducks Magpie! That had to be wild for the drivers on that road! WATCH OUT FOR THAT DUCK!! ROFLMBO!

magpie said...

Yes, Sissy, maybe we need a Duck Crossing sign!

paula eagleholic said...

Hmmm where did the fish in our nest go? Belle is gone, too.

wvgal_dana said...

You don't have a "duck crossing" sign in your trunk do you Margy?? lol

wvgal_dana said...

bb gotta lay down

deb said...

I see what Sissy and Sharon are talking about on the HH dad's beak. Not sure what it is, but it doesn't seem to be bothering him. Hope it is dirt, etc, or something minor.

deb said...

There are three eggs in WW nest, you can clearly see them now.

Well, we are off to Concord to watch a choir concert! Andrew is about to get burnt out, I am afraid. Doing too much, Tom says "bit off more than he could chew". But the semester is almost over, if he can just hang on another few weeks. He took 20 hours this past semester, plus band, choir, work, etc.

Mits said...

Hi everyone, thanks for all the wonderful prayers....just an update on Mei, got this this a.m....

Volunteers yesterday began around-the-clock monitoring of the National Zoo's giant female panda after scientists noticed hormonal and behavioral changes that might indicate pregnancy.

Officials cautioned that Mei Xiang might be experiencing a false pregnancy, as she has in years past.

But several behaviors are raising hopes. Mei Xiang is "denning," meaning that she is bringing bamboo to a place that's dark and quiet. Also, she is eating less and cradling objects, including food.

"Any [other] time I've seen Mei with a pear, she's eating it," said Pamela Baker-Masson, a zoo spokeswoman.

Starting last night, volunteers began monitoring Mei Xiang day and night on the zoo's pandacam. If she is pregnant, she will probably have the baby within three weeks.

Mei Xiang was artificially inseminated Jan. 17 after scientists determined that she was in heat.

Since then, scientists have conducted regular hormonal analyses, looking for signs that birth could be near.

Attempts to impregnate her failed in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008. In 2005, Mei Xiang and the zoo's male giant panda, Tian Tian, produced a cub, Tai Shan, through artificial insemination.

Lolly said...

By the time OK has sun and the solar panels are working, the eaglet will have fledged!

Lolly said...

Oh, Helen, it was great to see you on. Thanks for the udate. Do hope we have another little panda to watch!

Mits said...

the panda house has been closed since last Saturday, during the day, but has been opened from 3 til 6, so at least people who missed the outside showing of pandas can still see one, but the inside part to Mei's den has been closed off...24/7 pregnancy watch started last night, I really can't sign up yet, don't know how I will feel for my Wednesday shift, just taking it one day at a time..thanks for all the prayers and positive vibes.

Lolly said...

I am just very upset I can't help them right now at the zoo, I am on the list to call if they need someone quick, cried my eyes out this a,m., think it was just the pain, causing me to be a little whacko:(...Ceil and MM are on standby if I need them, thank heavens

Mema Jo said...

Crying your eyes out really helps at times no matter what the reason!

(((Gentle Squeezes To Mits ))) ♥

Mits said...

well it takes alot for me to cry, and this was one of those times:(

NatureNut said...

Finally got to see the video of wood ducks leaving box. That poor little last duckling must have been exhausted jumping up on the wrong walls!Amazing how they're all out in 5 min.

Mema Jo said...

Loretta - they are fast little quackers!
I would love to be down at the park & see an actual departure of them flopping into the water! Maybe Greg could get a video this year - so many boxes are occupied on the river.

NatureNut said...

paula eagleholic said...

Good to see you hear Mits, hope that means you are feeling a little better. Sometimes a good cry helps!

So the little prince is Mei's only cub...I didn't really think about that.

Went out in the rain, looking for a new birdbath, mine broke over the winter....shouldn't have left it out, it's clay and it froze and broke :(

Happy Birthday Madeline!

deb said...

Helen, I know how much the Panda's mean to you, so cry away! Of all the rotten luck, maybe when you talk with the doctor, he will come up with something to help.

deb said...

Last load is beeping from the dryer. I have cleaned out closet and drawers, feels good to get that done!

hedgie said...

Mits, glad to see you felt up to blogging a little. The cry does help....gets those endorphins running and they help relieve pain! When you DO get back to the zoo, take my cane so you don't fall again!
Off to finish getting ready for my evening out. See y'all late this evening.

paula eagleholic said...

It's Belle, but she just took off. fish is headless.

paula eagleholic said...

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Oh Mits, I so hope you start feeling better soon. Ribs hurt forever, seems like sometimes. And I agree with everyone else, a good cry is always good. I am like you, don't do it very often, but sometimes it is just necessary!!

Try this for the sopapilla cheesecake. It is very simple, uses two cans of cresent rolls, but oh, my is it yummy!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

OMG momsmiley, he is a percussion major, now how weird is that!!!

Lolly said...

I used lower fat cream cheese and the lower fat cresent rolls. Made no difference....still yummy!

Lolly said...

Also, many prefer the dessert warm, some may prefer is cold. I like warm! Melts in your mouth!

momsmiley said...

Like someone else said earlier "It's A Small World" LOL.....is Mr. Necessary and Mr. Mainland still there?

Bibee said...

Lolly, thanks for the address for the cheesecake. I got it. I will definitely try that, it sounds too good. Rain, rain, rain here in southern WV.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Dr. Necessary left last semester, at Bluefield College in Virginia now. That is the main reason Andrew is so dissatisfied there, the reason he is leaving. Dr. Mainland is still there, for now Andrew said.

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, it sounds great, thanks Lolly.

momsmiley said...

Yes..Josh really liked him too!! He was a GREAT teacher!!! Every now and then, I get the videos out and watch the Concord days....the
different things Josh was in!!

momsmiley said...

Is that Lib or Belle in the nest...at times I can't tell them apart (I know Belle is bigger)...but whichever it sure is protecting Hidey from the elements....I can see the rain pour off its back!! :(

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

HELLO, HELLO, HELLO...
I am back to the land of the NORMAL. I have been to the WILDEST anniversary party EVER! My Karla (Butterfly Mama) and her husband (Donnie) celebrated their 5th anniversary with a two day party. It was held at the picnic grounds of the Moose Lodge where she works. Food, live music, food, drink, dancing, food, drink, bon-fire, dancing, camping, laughter, fun, rain (we were in a pavillion).
We took the Eagle Express (I don't do tents! Afraid a snake will crawl in!) It looked like tent city. Gene and I were the oldest couple there, but we probably had just as much fun as the snot nosed brats;)I just slapped one of those Lidocaine patches on my knee and danced the night away! We took many pictures that probably wouldn't mean anthing to you if you don't know the people, so I won't bore you with those, but I'm sitting here re-living the party through the photos and smiling from ear to ear. Wish I had taken you all with us! LOL
So sorry Mits is still hurting. I'm sure her doctor will find relief for her pain...if not, there are at least 3 Momsters who have eagle canes and we know how to use them.LOL

Mema Jo said...

Sara that sounds like a good one for you locals!
Little Beaver State Park
The waters of Little Beaver Lake cascade over its CCC-constructed dam. Anglers especially enjoy the park.fishing, hiking, paddle-boating, swimming near Beckley, West Virginia
The woodland trails surrounding Little Beaver Lake explore an upland of rhododendron thickets and ancient stands of white pine.
Local anglers fish for bass and bluegill along the lake. The park is also near several golf courses and the National Park Service's Grandview and Glade Creek recreation areas.
Primarily a day-use park, Little Beaver also offers lake swimming, paddleboat rentals, picnic shelters, and a small museum of local and natural history.

PBS show was good. Some nice close ups of the white tailed sea eagle, cousin to the bald eagle. The chicks look just like bald eagle chicks, I couldn't see any difference. They banded all the chicks on the island. They have only been nesting back on the island since 1985. They also used wing markers!
