MORNIN' SHARON & MAGPIE!!----I thought maybe I was contagious!!-----No one except GRANNYBLT & RED even said hello after you took a nap!!---SO HAVE A GREAT DAY!!----I have study group this am!!!
When grannyblt jumps back on, I need to tell her my naturalist friend in NY near Erie, has seen white-winged crossbills at his feeder this year, first in a long time. They are surely in the same Nature Zone...seem to be seeing a lot of the same things. ☺
I love that moniker: "grannyblt" - includes two of my favorite things! ☺
Phooey! Glad for your study group and all, but I want to be enlightened by your joyful comments, NormaByrd.. Happy Mother of the Birthday Girl day to you!
I am up a lot late at night and early morning and have been checking both Norfolk, our nest and BWE - have not caught any sleepovers yet, except once in December one of our birds was on the nest very very early ..

Good morning, fowl friends. Happy Birthday to Russ and Lisa! Breakfast menus all sound good...I had biscuits with butter and jelly, but didn't fix anything else....need to eat a big, late lunch as have to pick up gd at 6 for a "coaching student at her school. Eeks...she'll be a freshman in the fall!! Sure glad to see cam is back up..thanks, Steve, John and other NCTC'ers!
Nice inaugural service at the National Cathedral....until this female minister's sermon...she isn't very good in her presentation, even tho' the words are good. It is one of my favorite places....had high school Baccalaureat service there (had graduation at DAR Constitution Hall!)My other favorite place in the city is the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Both places are so beautiful! One of the longest-tenured architects--now deceased--at the Cathedral was a Martinsburg native.
It is going to be warm, but I am still spoiled from a week of the 80's. I about froze at the airport on Monday night when we got into Omaha. I didn't have my winter coat.
Deb: I mailed WV DNR a letter this morning asking them to consider including an eagle in their 2009 or 2010 WV DNR Calendar! Think it is about time! Can you draw as well as you take pictures ?
Good Morning Popping in and right back off Headed to shoe store to meet my Hedgesville crew of little growing feet. I'll be back on when I returned home!
Jo, your talking about the Stride Rite shoes reminded me about my girls and shoes...we went to a shoe store in Winchester for the oldest and I think it was a Stride Rite store. With the youngest, who had to have orthopedic shoes for several years, we went to Bickle's in downtown Hagerstown...remember it?
My mother used to say, and she learned it from the days of the Great Depression, "We can't afford to buy anything cheap." Because, of course, it had to last a long time and make it through multiple hand-me-downs. As the caboose, you can imagine the hand-me-downs I received ! ☺
Ahhh...Stride Rite shoes, hand me downs, brings back memories.... Glad to see cam back up and an eagle in the nest. Thanks John and Steve:) Hubby says thanks for all the bday wishes...
He is a bird watcher, too. He laughs at my bird cam watching sometimes, but he always tells people about the nest, and the other day when he was in Sheptown he took a buddy to show him the nest and they got to see both eagles in the nest.
Hedgie: It was long gone before then....I think you can still their sign painted on one of the brick buildings on South Queen street, more or less across from Patterson's Drug Store. I'll check and tell you later....
Being the oldest, I never had hand me downs...but Grams made all of our clothes, so I sometimes got those "poor me" feelings--I wanted store-bought! Biggest problem was that she made clothes that, while beautiful, they were alike except for color for both me and my sister, so we were dressed like twins...argh!!!!! Of course, sis got hand-me-downs, so she ended up w/ the same things twice!!
I am beginning to get caught up, I cleared out all the old e-mails from being gone a week. Pictures are done and posted on Deb's photos. Now on to laundry.
That's a touching story, Hedgie...☺ unfortunately all my grandparents had died before I was born...My mother knitted us a few sweaters, which took FOREVER but they were nice. And she made repairs to wool sweaters with strands of our hair. She was 42 when I was born, about the age of many grandmothers when you think about it.
She used to buy wool blankets down in Clearbrook VA and some of those are still in the family. Beautiful things.
I found Bob and Glo's pictures, great pictures from both of them! Now I am trying to find Dave's. I didn't find them on his blogs, so I will have to scan back.
Good morning everyone. Its not noon here yet. LOL I worked the overnight and came home and slep a couple of hours. Now I am off with my Camera for a couple of hours.
I will check Deb's photos when I get back.
I do want to say I have a new camera this year. I contacted 3 photographer friends for info as I made my selection. The one you know is our Bob he was very helpful and responded to me very quickly. I do love my camera and Bob also told me about a place called Rentglass and suggested when I asked about a particular lens that maybe renting it would help me know before investing that amount of money...if I would really want that lens.
Well to make a long story short I followed his suggestion and will have that lens in my "possession" for like 10 more days. Then I will have to send it back for this eagle season. But.
So off I go with my camera and special lens Weather is perfect. Now hoping for some eagles to be actively flying around and fishing. I enjoy their beauty in the trees but it is awesome to watch them fish.
Enjoy your day folks. I will return tired, cold and hopefully smiling :)
What a treat to look at your photos, Deb. The one with the Great Blue Heron sitting atop a pine tree looks a little like my MYSTERY bird sitting atop a palm tree. Check out my Florida photos on "Wishes" when you have a chance and see what you think.
Hi everyone, Just checking in again. Nobody at the nest right now. I always check out Mits weather report. She's more dependable then the TV... Deb's photos are great. Hope everyone is happy and well. I'll keep stoping by.. Donnie
Lynn, Daisy is a dachshund, Millie is part dapple dachshund, part Chihuahua. They are my sister in CA dogs. Her new son-in law has a dachshund, too, as do his parents. It is weird all the things they have in common.
Donnie, also saw in Red Bottles in your interests on your profile! Do you have or ever seen any red wine bottles? My sister is looking and not finding!
Hi All! Have been laying low recently. Wanted to put major time into finishing the book for Zach. It has gone to the printers! LOL Actually, it is at Office Depot being laminated and bound. So glad it is over, it took lots of hours on the computer.
HELLO ALL! Just checking in for a sec to say "Hi" and see what is going on here. School started on a two hour delay today and will do so again tomorrow. Main roads are pretty clear now as I traveled home. I guess they are worried about the secondary roads. Still have some snow in our front yard and our deck is still a little slippery.
Here is info on the Kent nest from Lorraine that was posted on the Kent Forum: The eagles have been here frequently, today was no different. The maintenance was (started) today and they perched nearby to watch what was going on. Tom and WDFW people installed a new camera, it's an infrared similar to the Lk WA cam - too bad we don't have a big nest yet too. At least we will be able to see all the progress they do. There are glitches and connections that need tweakin' but they have assured us they will get to them next week. The video card that was ordered turned out to be the wrong one for our computer so they've decided to go back to using servers. Too close to the season to order another I guess. The microphone addition was a success but one of those still-needs-tweakin processes.
In 2007, Kent had their first egg in late March, so there is still time for them to finish their nest.(if they are very diligent and don't mess around;)) BWE had first egg in late Jan. and our eagles were around Feb. 14, 2007. Have no notes about last year.
I returned home after the shoe store & lunch, put my feet up for about 2 hrs in order to get refreshed! Have eaten dinner and am up/running! Finally got the new Lake WA cam up with help from Deb & Mits! Made sure to look at all new photos posted on your blogs & loved them all. Still waiting for Deb's sister's people photos to get posted! Hedgie mentioned the shoe store in Hagerstown, Bikles. I guess way back about 40 plus years ago we could have been there at the same time with our daughters! She really had my memories jogging that far back!
Thanks, Deb, for confirming that my MYSTERY bird is a Heron. I was so excited when I saw yours atop that pine tree and thought, wow, that must be what I captured on film! Didn't think I would ever find out what it was:)
Well, Jo, I might have been there at the store at the same time. My Karla is 43. If Winchester didn't have her size in Mary Janes, we went to Bickles. Always had a hard time finding a parking place there.
Jo, not quite that long ago at Bikle's....Christie is 33 now, and we went there from age 2-5! Had myself a panda nap, too, and just finished eating some yummy potato soup. Feel warmer now! I'll take Lolly's temps...and I'm sure Jim's are great, too! How much snow did you end up with, Candy? TV weather guy last night said you missed the big one!! It stayed farther out to sea than originally thought!
Wanda - I think Lisa had said the end of JAN was their 1st egg last year.. She also states that: the best sign that an egg is about to be laid is if we see the female eagle on the nest all night. So we need to keep our eyes peeled on their nest..
That is so funny about Bickles... it would have been in the early 1960's. Our oldest daughter is 49. Then I remember the Pharmacy right before the shoe store where I would get the greatest chocolate nut sundaes and the best sandwich of roasted beef/pickle spread.
I remember last year our eggs where around the 5th and 6th of February, not sure of exact date, do remember a phone call from Sharon while I was in hospital....was too loopy to remember the date
I think it was last year that our cam was down for a few days, and when it cam back on, there was an egg and we weren't sure which day it was layed. Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody.

WOW DEB.....its a heat wave....
That's good, DEB..
I don't think Lake Washington is up today yet....remaining dark...
Hi Hedgie! ☺
Later, folks, I have a PILE of stuff to take care of today and a Staff Mtg at work at 4 :(
I'll be watching the silent nest though....☺
xo
Oh I finally found this DEB
☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼ Enjoy the sunshine and warmth, we might head your way !
Well, blogger cop took out part of my sentence!!! Try again.... Taking gd to "coaching our students to high school success" at her school!!
Lynn, last summer, Andrew's friend, Jon Brannon, had an organ recital at the Basilica. What a beautiful place that is!
It is going to be warm, but I am still spoiled from a week of the 80's. I about froze at the airport on Monday night when we got into Omaha. I didn't have my winter coat.
Lynn, both places are beautiful.
Hi, Margy, bye, Margy!!! Always on the go!!!!
That is an intersting note, Hedgie... about the architect. I have been to the Shrine, not to the Cathedral, but it IS on my list of places to go...
Tomorrow is the annual March for Life so it will be teeming with people, starting later on today.
BTW watch out for Blogger Cop. He is hungry!
TTFN xo ☺ ♥
Lake Washington is a live feed now, here is the link:

Deb:
I mailed WV DNR a letter this morning asking them to consider including an eagle in their 2009 or 2010 WV DNR Calendar! Think it is about time! Can you draw as well as you take pictures ?
Well that would be 2010 or 2011 calendars. Guess I better leave as I have been threatening to do.
'Bye
Tom Otto posted the link in the Kent Forum.
Good Morning
Popping in and right back off
Headed to shoe store to meet my Hedgesville crew of little growing feet.
I'll be back on when I returned home!
I remember that, Sharon! I know how much you enjoyed it!
If I drew an eagle, you wouldn't have a clue what you were looking at! I can barely draw a circle.
Margy, it was a Fellers guy...of the former plumbing place Fellers family on Baltimore St.
EAGLE IN OUR NEST
We have EAGLES!
THINK THEY BROUGHT FOOD
BELLE WINS AGAIN
think I see feathers flying
Belle's wings look funny.
I like how she is showing her white feathers to us today.
she was kind of mantling so Lib could not get her catch
poof Lib
Ok, now I understand. Anything different scares me.
Good morning everyone!!
She is plucking feathers or fur. When they eat birds, is that not cannibalism? ☺ ☼
Lynn, I got my girls shoes at both places too. Love those little Mary Janes.
I think Lib must be nearby and she is warning him not to come near.
both EAGLES BWE
Live cam is NOT hanging today. Thanks JOHN.
Two at BWE and Turkey-lurkeys at Pix PA and of course I am watching our nest!
Does anyone remember Siler and Pine shoe store in Martinsburg?
xo
My mother used to say, and she learned it from the days of the Great Depression, "We can't afford to buy anything cheap." Because, of course, it had to last a long time and make it through multiple hand-me-downs.
As the caboose, you can imagine the hand-me-downs I received !
☺
Belle sure was hungry
Guess I spoke too soon. It's still hanging.
Ahhh...Stride Rite shoes, hand me downs, brings back memories....
Glad to see cam back up and an eagle in the nest.
Thanks John and Steve:)
Hubby says thanks for all the bday wishes...
mine has been freezing alot
It must be a mammal maybe, awfully squishy...what is the unusual choking or hacking sound?
Just think how full those little Eagle Baby crops are going to get when the parents start feeding them their booty ! ☺
And your husband has almost a full 12 hours left of Birthday Fun, Megan.
Does he enjoy watching the eagles with you?
Margy, when she first started to eat, feathers were flying as she plucked whatever it was
He is a bird watcher, too. He laughs at my bird cam watching sometimes, but he always tells people about the nest, and the other day when he was in Sheptown he took a buddy to show him the nest and they got to see both eagles in the nest.
Hopefully, Belle is eating for FOUR!
lots of turkeys at PA
Margy, never heard of that store. Wanda??? I came in '71...
Okay, MITS - I missed that part.
I guess a few feathers would make me choke and hack too!
MEGAN, THAT IS SO NEAT YOUR HUSBAND AND FRIEND GOT TO SEE THE EAGLES ! ☺
..How did Belle fly with such a full belly ???
That was a very nice long visit. Ok, back to work :(
Hedgie: It was long gone before then....I think you can still their sign painted on one of the brick buildings on South Queen street, more or less across from Patterson's Drug Store. I'll check and tell you later....

awesome pics, Deb
I found Bob and Glo's pictures, great pictures from both of them! Now I am trying to find Dave's. I didn't find them on his blogs, so I will have to scan back.
There is an eagle sitting in the nest at LW - its head blends right in with the skyline
He gave us a link that might work Deb:
Indiana Dave's Pictures
Good morning everyone. Its not noon here yet. LOL
I worked the overnight and came home and slep a couple of hours. Now I am off with my Camera for a couple of hours.
I will check Deb's photos when I get back.

It is the 8th photo down.
That is what is at the top of your tree, Wanda! Looks like you had a good vacation.
Thanks for the link to Dave's pictures, I got to see them. The gourd picture is a fun one!
lol...love this one, Margy...
I believe everyone is weird in their own way.
I'm with you Wanda...can't wait to see Glo's New Glimpses!
I found the eagles flying, too, and loved the building you lived in!
Thanks for sharing all your great pics everybody:)
both EAGLES BWE
BWE eagle looks mighty comfortable in that nest:)
I can hear one of the eagles nearby at our nest
I noticed how c♥zy those two birds were looking at BWE during Belle's visit earlier, MITS -
Time to shake a leg, see you all much much later.
Enjoy your afternoons.
xo
i think Lisa said Jan 21 was the earliest egg date at Blackwater for this nest, but that could be off by a few days.
Hi everyone,
Just checking in again. Nobody at the nest right now. I always check out Mits weather report. She's more dependable then the TV... Deb's photos are great.
Hope everyone is happy and well.
I'll keep stoping by..
Donnie
lol.....thanks, Donnie:), get them from Weatherunderground.com...they also have great pics on their site....our own DEB has some on there
this good be the day, Deb....think you are correct about the date....one was laid at 2:00p.m. and the next at 7:00a.m. per their webmaster
Wasn't it last year we were watching her lay an egg right before the cam went down for the night?
Donnie, I checked out your pictures, they are great. What fun we have with pictures from all over!
yes Deb, think you are correct..
very excited to see the first egg of the eagle season:)
I'll keep checking the weather here, that way I can catch up whats going on at the nest.
I found the BW site again... Is there a live cam or just the 30 sec refresh?
eagle at NBG
just 30 second refresh, Donnie
ok.. that just seems so backwards after the live one in Shep.
but the pic is crisp and clear, and usually works with very few problems:)
my next project is to get a web cam hooked up to the birdfeeder in the back yard. I think I know how to do it.
that would be great, Donnie:) I have a couple that I watch online
2 moose on moosecam
well were 2, now just 1
Hi, Donnie...I'm Lynn. Checked out your pics...you've got some lovely shots at the Cathedral and Shrine! Were you just down yesterday?? Brave person!!
Deb, left comments on Glimpses!!
Lynn, Daisy is a dachshund, Millie is part dapple dachshund, part Chihuahua. They are my sister in CA dogs. Her new son-in law has a dachshund, too, as do his parents. It is weird all the things they have in common.
well eagle left in BWE....no egg.
Good for you, Lolly! You are a writer and publisher!! Congrats.
Plans have changed.....daughter's evening job cancelled for today, so I don't have to take gd to school function. I can stay in where it's warm!!
that is good Lynn, it is chilly outside:)
THINK IT IS BELLE

Well, that was fast!
That sure was quick. I was just looking at Donnie's pics and came back to find the eagle in the nest.
DEBS and INDIANA DAVES pics are good ones too. You people are so talented.
I think we all need to take a trip in the Eagle Express to Lolly's house. She seems to have the warmest weather of all of us. :)
both eagles at BWE
our eagles are close by

Hey! Come on! I can cool all of you a good meal! Put you to work in the yard to work off the calories!

I was hoping that last quick visit wasn't it for the night.
Oh, this is fun! Eagle our nest and they have zoomed in close on two eagles at NBG.
THEY ARE STARTING TO GET PREDIDCTABLE
Trying to make dinner and watch at the same time...difficult task...
TWO It must be that time fo day
Does anyone have sound?
HP He made that sound. Don't look.
I have no sound...
sound comes and goes, have to keep refrshing for sound
No sound here, either.
Megan, mine comes and goes if I refresh. It doesn't stay on for too long. Poof!
poof, heard her fly off, that should be it for the night
Poof.

I have no sound but I saw the HP. Woo! Woo!
It looks like our light has come on. They must have gone to the rafters for the night. :)
Usually I get sound by openeing another page repeatedly, today that just hassn't been working well.
Back to the stove...
glad to have a good visit-I hope everyone has a good evening
Lorraine's comment was posted on Jan. 14th. Tom Otto has a video of the climb, not much nest there yet.
Tom Otto at Kent Nest
got the same reply from her last week, Deb
Okay, I wasn't sure what had been posted while I was gone. Maybe it will be up sometime this week yet.
I didn't post it Deb...it was an e-mail...glad you got us up to date
Poor Big Rig Steve is still broke down.
In 2007, Kent had their first egg in late March, so there is still time for them to finish their nest.(if they are very diligent and don't mess around;))
BWE had first egg in late Jan. and our eagles were around Feb. 14, 2007. Have no notes about last year.

Going to watch a game show on TV
BBL
I remember last year our eggs where around the 5th and 6th of February, not sure of exact date, do remember a phone call from Sharon while I was in hospital....was too loopy to remember the date
egg note from Lisa...
Egg Note: Folks have asked when an egg can come. We've seen them laid from early morning to late afternoon.
I think it was last year that our cam was down for a few days, and when it cam back on, there was an egg and we weren't sure which day it was layed. Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody.
Wanda, you are eggsactly right on that! ☺
Tomorrow I get to make another trip to Charlottesville. Will let you know when I get back how it went, or maybe Sissy will tell you when I call her.
yes Wanda....that is right...:)
well hope that doesn't happen this year
