MORNIN' HEDGIE!!--MAGPIE!---The email about the wounded EAGLE in HARPERS FERRY came from my daughter--teaches in JEFFERSON---One of LISA'S student's mom sent it to LISA---The US PARK SERVICE is looking for the EAGLE!!---sorry you can't get the pic open--BEAUTIFUL EAGLE!!----Haven't heard any more!!---Student's dad works for PARK SERVICE---
I am getting ready to walk out the door and get my much needed haircut. Sure could use a new thread - had to come over here to the NEWEST rather then the NEWER.
I'll get back on once I come home... I need to bundle up!!
Hedgie glad to help out...I hope everyone gets to see the pic of the Eagle that is hurt at Harpers Ferry that Norma sent. I know we all are wishing the best for it.
I feel sad to read of her passing. What a difference she made in the lives of our feathered friends.
Well its chicken noodle soup here for lunch. Except I have that sill internet Error report that says I need to close down and report or not the probelem argh. bbl
Hey Lolly, Your son and I have the same b-day:) Weird, cause I signed up to get the momsters mail in my inbox, but none came thru today, so I can't see the eagle pic:( Sorry to hear of Jean Keene, she was one of a kind...
I have returned from haircut & running 2 other errands. It really is frigid out there. I feel so much better with less hair!! Sorry to hear about the passing of Jean the eagle lady. Her life was really an inspiration to everyone who heard about her.
I had sent Loraine from KENT a beautiful pic from Lake Washington the other day...... this is her response...
Thank you Helen.. this is a spectacular picture. The WDFW installed an IR camera here today during maintenance - too bad our nest is so small at this point. It should be online soon. There are glitches they need to iron out, hopefully it will be sooner than later. Loraine So hopefully Kent will be back up and running....soon:)
After several panda naps, was jolted awake with news of the Hudson River plane crash....it has floated down to the Holland Tunnel...what an absolutely miracle landing those pilots pulled off! They are saying it was a flock of geese that fouled the engines....was just reminded a couple of days ago of the 14th St. Bridge crash in DC...I think 26 yrs. ago...thank God this one turned out much better.
Sissy and Megan I sent the pic of the varmint in the BWE nest, and Lisa's thoughts on what it is, to my naturalist friend in NY - his comment:
"The photo of the flying squirrel is definitely a flying squirrel, in my opinion, and I think there are only Southern ones in Maryland. I don't think any animal that size has eyes that big. "
The guy knows a lot. They have so much Lake (Erie) effect snow, the snow is over the deer's bellies and the turkeys can't reach the ground by scratching, tough time for the wildlife up there.
Glad you saw the Birds, Thelma and MITS - I am hoping they will come back one more time.
Kent Forum - I still don't have access to it. One of the gals on the ME Forum sent me an email with the same concern. I think maybe Deb had been successful getting a password to get back into the forum. RED Let us know if you had any communication with Larry. I hope Red's brother is getting help with those blood clots today.
My best friend, Charlie, is a flight attendant for US Airways. I had just talked to him a couple of minutes before I heard about the crash. Otherwise, I would have flipped out worrying if he was on the plane. What a miracle that everyone is okay, but I bet the birds aren't! :(
It was a white out cam, ,maybe one of the salt lick cams...large deer lying motionless...don't know if that screen will open up again or not. Time for the news...
January 15 Today some web cam viewers and Zoo staff saw something we weren't expecting until later this year—an attempt at mating! Mei Xiang has shown some behavioral and hormonal signs that she was nearing estrus, nearly two months earlier than the earliest date she has begun estrus, but her hormone levels have not peaked. Every time our bears do something that surprises us—and when they do what we expect—we learn something new, so we appreciate these opportunities to gain insight into these fascinating animals. We will post more information soon.
Mits - I am headed to the Mount game tonight...it's televised on MASN....I'll be in the first row right behind the scorer's table. Sitting next to my boss....white hair and beard.
Jo - I got a response from Kent right away when I resigned up. However, the password did go to my junk mail...maybe try signing up again or emailing Larry.
Live Eagle Chat will also be moving to Larry's webspace on the 18th of this month. Larry is in fact a very nice fun loving sort of guy who has a deep commitment to the survival of many a critter. We have enjoyed him on a regular basis in the For the Love of Eagles chatroom over the last couple of years. I however have chosen to no longer pay for that chat space when its time is up on Jan 18.
Larrys chat and forum will be a very nice place to be as we enter into the next eagle season online.
I suspect Chrissy is sleeping well now; she reports a fine birthday dinner Wednesday night with Frank, son Matt, and his girlfriend Natalie, and she is having a birthday lunch Friday with a dear friend.
RED - Larry just got Sherri from the ME Forum up/running on the Kent Forum. I think Deb is in OK.. Now it is my turn. I keep telling everyone to email Larry and I forgot to do it myself! lol
That would be more then awesome if the National Zoo would produce a little cub for us to view! Tai captured all our hearts as did the LA & Atlanta ones.. But would be nice to have one so close to home to visit!!!
Lolly, you and Jack enjoy your chili & cornbread by your cozy fire! That is so much a favorite of mine. Almost made some on Tues - I failed to do so - Tomorrow would be a good day for Chili! I loved the NYC pics of you & Michael.
There are about 3 deer at the PA woods - I can't find any signs now of the dead one that Margy sent me a pic of.. Doesn't look as though their forum has been active so far this 2009..

Oh, Lolly, how very special your son is!
I think the lumberjacks are taking a break in Maine today, or else, maybe lunch break.
Margy, good book, isn't it? Good day to stay in and read!
If Wanda was still doing facials, Margy, it would be yours!
I just fixed some of the best potato soup!! Didn't follow a recipe, just threw it together. Sometimes stuff turns out alot better like that.
Ya'll come on down, I'll save you a bowl.
Speaking of lunch...think I'm hungry!! Going to get something to eat! BBL.
Eagle back at LW - mybe two./
Glad you are home today, MITS -
I did read about your being there Wednesday...☺
Looks like something kind of furry in that BWE nest...towards the top, too hard to tell with the shadows.
Hedgie: I think about that every time I hit the 00 mark! I could use one !
☺
Time to warm the car up, have to go out...to see the Sciatica doc.
Hope everyone is well today.
Eagle at LW gone again :(

Sorry to hear of Jean Keene, she was one of a kind...
MEGAN I'll send it to you
Thanks, Dana. There are many nests along the Potomac some known, probably some not. I've been told there's one around Brunswick.

Steve says there is one right down from Harpers Ferry Megan.
Megan, sent you email
Oh, Lolly, love the NYC pics.
I got your email, Paula, but not yours Dana...

Now they are talking about the multiple bird encounters in the last year. One an owl.
Air Florida..1982
Well Norma - here is #500 for you!
Sissy and Megan
I sent the pic of the varmint in the BWE nest, and Lisa's thoughts on what it is, to my naturalist friend in NY - his comment:

Glad you saw the Birds, Thelma and MITS - I am hoping they will come back one more time.
there is an eagle at Norfolk in the branch
That was the flight that took my previous next door neighbor's hubby. Quite of few were on it from 1 company.
Two at BWO
Two at Norfolk one in nest one on branch
kind of looks like BWO birds have a small bird meal...
No I guess it is a fish, forget that last remark they are into the flesh of it now.
My best friend, Charlie, is a flight attendant for US Airways. I had just talked to him a couple of minutes before I heard about the crash. Otherwise, I would have flipped out worrying if he was on the plane. What a miracle that everyone is okay, but I bet the birds aren't! :(
Someone is looking out for you Sharon.
To have any stress taken from you is fantastic!
I need to eat some dinner
BBL
Wonder who people will sue over this one...the geese????
Davis, WV (near Blackwater Falls) got a foot of snow! Guess the ski areas are happier if they all got that!
One each at bwo and bwe
Wonder when L&B are going to move that "log" out of the middle of the nest??
Hi Hedgie - I am waiting on a little visit, we missed one about an hour ago...:(
Oh dear, looks like a deceased deer at one of the PIX cams
It was a white out cam, ,maybe one of the salt lick cams...large deer lying motionless...don't know if that screen will open up again or not.
Time for the news...
bird in our nest
That is: Eagle Alert, one
Both eagles our nest....☺ ☺
Very choppy visit, both gone now.
I missed them this time.
Jo, I have emailed Larry to find out how to register for the Kent forum. Is that the problem? or do you need the web address?
Simply amazing, the plane crash.
What a miracle.
God Bless the Pilots, Crew, rescue teams, and all the passengers.
Hi T-Bird -
it was a quiet and difficult view, cam froze up a good bit, and was frozen for the second one taking off.
But, I'll settle for it! ☺

it was truly a miracle, Paula...hubby takes shuttle out of there all the time
Wow, I see ya'll have heard. Amazing pics on TV.
Yes Hedgie the 14th st bridge crash was 26 or 27 years ago.
Lots of eagle activity today...and more HP in our nest...I think we will have early February eggs again.
Pilot did an amazing job landing that plane.
Mits - I am headed to the Mount game tonight...it's televised on MASN....I'll be in the first row right behind the scorer's table. Sitting next to my boss....white hair and beard.
I will look for you, Paula....wondering if our son will go...he trys to get to as many games as possible
Jo - I got a response from Kent right away when I resigned up. However, the password did go to my junk mail...maybe try signing up again or emailing Larry.
pilot also went up and down the ailes twice to look for any passengers before he left plane...what a guy:)
Can't believe how far down river the plane is...they said the current is pretty fast there in the river.
Amazing that a flock of birds can bring down a plane...

Gotta hit it...catch ya'll later!
