My pictures from today are up. A lot of pictures of the same bird, but I couldn't decide which ones to post, so I put them all on. I put up one that shows the nictitating membrane on a juvie.
Wow..Deb....You are TOO MUCH ! I am guessing, the second photo of the juvenile... I used the magnifying glass feature....☺ That cardinal, the contrast between its colors and the straw colored vegetation...what a shot!
xoxo Okay, now I am really working myself backwards....
And how did you get the shot of Lun and Lil Luney? I tried everything to copy that view and couldn't! I was so sad, because it was my last look at them!
That is great, Wanda!!! Congratulations! Did you call Verizon to get your wireless set-up, or do you already have it? Make sure you learn what you need for wifi!
Lynn, you were looking at a picture of the Cape Coral osprey nest. It is a web cam and the nest is in Cape Coral, FL. My pictures are under Deb's Pictures.
Okay - I couldn't keep up with the Eagle Visit Count! Four times? five? You lucky dogs!
Deb I kind of accidentally happened onto the slide show, well, it was easy, but then I saw that magnifiying glass feature in the upper right, and it was great! By the way, what kind of swans were you looking for? My friend up in New York is still seeing them head our way! Next month they start heading back North....
xo Great News from many corners...especially from Scotsdale. Hey! If Ceil is going to pass through Martinsburg on Wednesday I might still be able to jump up and down on the train platform!
Wow, Deb...they are great!!! And what a unique framing for the cardinal...looks like he belongs RIGHT THERE in that particular foliage in order to show off his colors!
Speaking of 911, Margy, I am reading the book that Paula had mentioned when her ex passed...it's about the Pentagon on 911, and it is so intense...and long!! Wish I could just curl up with it and read straight through. Did that with Gone With the Wind when I was 12...three days straight. But not 12 anymore...too many other things to do!
Which track does the Amtrak come in here on, Margy? Does it pass through North Mountain at the double track on 901 or on the single track down past what used to be the orchard?
I would like to get that book, Hedgie, and will look for it. I started a book on my birthday last summer, "On the Wing," about Peregrine falcons, and have failed to finish it - yet! Life is passing me by. :(
It passes on the Double Track in North Mountain. When the train is on time, it comes through Martinsburg Eastbound, around 11:35 - but it quite often, is very late! I have an 800 number to track its schedule, though....☺
Time to report in here! Out of the 2 Big Bad Bugs of the season I have the Biggest and Badest - NOT the intestinal one but the nasal drainage to the upper respiratory. This is the one that could take 3-5 weeks.. More antibiotic and I should be feeling much better by Friday! If not I'm to call back......
Deb - I am just elated at your Uncle's recovery. Prayers still being said for all of you family.
But, you cannot see into the windows very well. I can see myself jumping all around the platform waving at everyone in every car - just for the chance of maybe seeing the Oregon gang!
Well, Jo, the biggest and baddest look for the best people....hope that medicine knocks him out in a hurry!
Dayshift all next two months for me, with days off in the middle of the week, sometimes week-ends off, blah blah blah....I am trying to set 10 o'clock as my bedtime. And will have to learn to make it a "one-goodnight" night. :)
Margie: Here is what Dave said & Deb ....All the photos of the new nest will be on a new blog. The photos of the eagles i post on winter with the eagles or eagles 08-09 are of the nest that is six miles from my house. The new nest is only one mile west.
How could I forget to mention this: My co-workers from shift I just moved off from, nights, has given me a gift from the Universal Star Council, they have had a star named after me, and they named it Magpie - it is located in the constellation Cygnus, also known as the Northern Cross... For a rare time, I was utterly speechless.. ☺ ☺ ☺
Well I bet you best better help all of us to find that constellation - How special are you Magpie! They sure got to know you well, gal! Plus sure sounds like they appreciated you!
Margy, what a neat gift!! I have seen where people can do that. Our very own Magpie has a star named for her...kewl, as Paula says!!! Jo, sorry you got the big, bad bug. Gotta stomp that guy right out!! Hope the super a/b does the trick! Get plenty of rest, but do spend some time with us so we know that you are improving!!!
Thanks guys, for all the compliments...I guess they kind of got used to me going outside suddenly to see the moon and planets. The Northern Cross is a beauty, and on the next clear night, I will find it and then tell you where to look. Usually once it is good and dark, this time of the year, it is almost directly overhead.
Well, caught Dave's pics, thanks for your all's help. I'm watching for Jo's Racoons but also watching the clock, so, I guess, this is going to be my One Good Night! Thanks for all the treasures of the day !
Well, I can try to use it again, but once the prongs have been bent, it really compromises the strength of the frame..but I always try to reuse the ones people bring me if I can..
I hung a birdhouse gourd on my deck outside the door a week ago, carolina wren moved in later that nite, sleeps in there every nite now. Trying to encourage them to nest where I want, not where they want-quite sure when spring comes, they'll build where they want, as usual.
G'Night, Jo and Deb!!! Megan, I have found that to be true of almost all of the birds who like to nest around the house! I finally gave up on tearing down nests, except for the ones on the front porch light! Too close to the door for comfort.
Last year the wrens built in a wreath I left up too long, and a neighbor's cat got into the nest one night. Have hung gourd in a spot where it can't be reached...but again, those wrens always do what they want, and we try to work around them.....
Suzanne reports she had some sleet and rain on her way to work, others coming in now are reporting freezing rain. It's going to be dicey today in the general four-state area, so you all, please, be so very careful!
Got to find the fairy and get ready for work now :(
Good morning magpie. I missed the sea eagles, thanks for the pic. We are under a flash flood warning but it is too warm for any frozen precipitation here, 49 degrees this morning.

Deb, would that membrane be a part of his eye?

It is a second eyelid used to protect the eye.
When I use Picassa, can you make the pictures big?
I'm still catching up, too, Margy!! You are not alone!
Okay, Wanda...what did Gene bring home this time????
That would be my guess too, Margy. That photo is one that I would guess you wouldn't get very often!
Deb, where is the osprey nest? It looks like it is so low!! And how close or how far were you from it?? Cool pics.
Actually, it is called a third eyelid, sorry about that.
Lynn, it is a Lenova. $137.00 less than the other one...so, he brought me home a camera too! HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY:)

Deb, from my experience w/ toads, they, too, have the nictating layers.
Lynn, that is a video, if you click the arrow, you can watch it.
Nice pics, Deb!
Margy, you have mail!
Oops, thanks, Deb!

Hedgie...you got the 9:11 post for the night....
Yes, some birds and amphibians. I am not sure if any mammals have them or not, I will have to check that out.
Wow, Deb...they are great!!! And what a unique framing for the cardinal...looks like he belongs RIGHT THERE in that particular foliage in order to show off his colors!
just awesome pics, Deb

I want to find out what that bush/tree is, Lynn, I don't have any idea. It looks like some kind of seed or fruit hanging on it.
It passes on the Double Track in North Mountain. When the train is on time, it comes through Martinsburg Eastbound, around 11:35 - but it quite often, is very late! I have an 800 number to track its schedule, though....☺

I saw the one eagle visit.. And then I went Poof!
But, you cannot see into the windows very well. I can see myself jumping all around the platform waving at everyone in every car - just for the chance of maybe seeing the Oregon gang!
I am halfway through "Return of the Osprey" by David Gessner. It is a good book, starts off a little slow, but then picks up.
Ceil would probably have to hide to avoid embarrassment! Maybe I should make a big banner !
Well, Jo, the biggest and baddest look for the best people....hope that medicine knocks him out in a hurry!

Looks like the deer is reaching one of the feeders on the Snowman.
The other day hubby and I had to slow down to an almost stop -- daytime &
6 small deer were at the side of the road. I hope they didn't try to cross
I need to go try to see Dave's and Glo's pictures, so I will be MIA for a little while...
Hubby said tonight he thought that the MAGI made it to the stable, to see the Christ Child, faster than the Baltimore crew are getting home;)
I could just a little help, what group of pictures do I check for Indiana Dave's newest pictures?
Glo's are Greeeeeeaatttt !
Uh, make the Greeeattt.
Good analogy MITS, half the time traveling, and half the time at John's - -
Dave's pictures are under winter with the eagles, 2009.
Margie: Here is what Dave said
& Deb ....All the photos of the new nest will
be on a new blog. The photos of
the eagles i post on winter with
the eagles or eagles 08-09 are of

Okay, Deb, headed there soon.

Jo, glad you are feeling up to blogging with us tonight. I hope your meds kick in quick and knock out that infection.
what a nice gift, Margy:)
Deb - the newest blog of Dave's isn't on your profile
Margie go back to older comments to
find Dave's avatar (flying eagle)
Well I bet you best better help all of us to find that constellation -
How special are you Magpie! They sure got to know you well, gal! Plus sure sounds like they appreciated you!
Oh Margy what a nice gift...so special..you'll have to point it out to us one night.
Jo hope those new meds kick that stuff and your up to par quick ! ( :
I think they are working but I don't want to over do it. Going to take an hour and be back to say good night.
I noticed that, too, Jo, I will have to go and add it on. He will probably use it for a couple more months.
I am always happy when I manage to find the Little Dipper, I would never find a constellation.
They picked the perfect gift for you, Margy!
Margy, what a neat gift!! I have seen where people can do that. Our very own Magpie has a star named for her...kewl, as Paula says!!!

Peace, Love, Prayers, and Gratitude. xox ♥
Cool, Margy! No stars out here tonite, too cloudy...
Hey Jo! Get to bed!!
Hey You! Would you like to have your wreath ring back so I can get another one next year?
Well, I can try to use it again, but once the prongs have been bent, it really compromises the strength of the frame..but I always try to reuse the ones people bring me if I can..
Well it could turn out like a gourd and not be seen for over a year...
Ok, fair enough....I hear ya..
Night, everyone!
Say "Good Night", Jo!
Night, Deb.
Nite Deb.
I hung a birdhouse gourd on my deck outside the door a week ago, carolina wren moved in later that nite, sleeps in there every nite now. Trying to encourage them to nest where I want, not where they want-quite sure when spring comes, they'll build where they want, as usual.

The Sea Eagles are at the Nest at Finney's....
And just like they that, they disappeared !

MITS :
Don't think I will be seeing -4 ISS this morning!
Good morning magpie. I missed the sea eagles, thanks for the pic. We are under a flash flood warning but it is too warm for any frozen precipitation here, 49 degrees this morning.
Have a safe day at work, will be thinking of ya!!
Happy "Little Christmas" to all of you, Feast of the Epiphany.
Okay, Sissy Woman...You Too. We are going to get something sloppy and ugly I fear. I finished my One Word...☺
Morning all:)
Raining here and at the nest now....
Morning Megan. Hasn't started here yet I don't think. Winter rain is just the coldest thing, feels colder than snow to me sometimes.
