hedgie said...

Good morning, eagle lovers!
Norma (our politico supreme), I bet you are glued to the TV today, aren't you? Don't think they could pay me to be in that mob!
Candy, are you off because of snow, or because of it being Inauguration day?
It was 11° here at 7am....brrrr..snuggled back under the covers for an hour, but not much improvement--hate having to hustle to get the fire built back up!!
Wish our cam was up!

normabyrd said...

HELEN---Any news from PAULA?

hedgie said...

Has anyone heard from Loretta? Don't think she was on at all yesterday, and she hasn't read an email I sent her yesterday morning. Oh, Loretta!!!! Hope everything is ok with you!

hedgie said...

Newspaper article said that there may have been two jaguars involved in the incident at Catoctin. It said the lady was taken to Shock Trauma, but didn't give an update on her condition.

Mits said...

NO, NORMA..

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning on this very historic day!
The Momster across the pond sent us a beautiful card for today. I am glad to see the BWE waiting for me.
No word from Paula and I really didn't see anything in today's or yesterday's paper. You who have your Christmas address list should be able to send cards
I'll let you know the minute I hear from her and you do the same. Prayers for Paula to be strong for her family and have peace in her heart.

Mema Jo said...

floralgirl said...

Hello again:)
The Obamas just arrived at the white house for their meeting with the Bushes.
I shouldv'e gotten sponsors, only the lack of funds kept me from DC-I would've loved to be there. The excitiemnt, the history, I love being down on the mall, been there many times for big events, alas, I am glued to the tv....
Jo, can you send me Paula's address, I never got the Xmas list , I cannot get the Momsters mail to come to my inbox anymore...

normabyrd said...

Thanks HELEN & JO!!----

normabyrd said...

JO!---I have been so concerned about PAULA----I remember all too well----You have to grow up in a hurry---but she does have a brother!!!

floralgirl said...

Here is the DC cam Earthcam Capitol cam

Mits said...

Megan normally that cam is always stationary, but since yesterday they have be panning it from Capitol to Union Station

normabyrd said...

MEGAN---Wish you had called!---ho!
Seriously---I would loved to have gone!!

Mits said...

somehow I knew this would happen...

Person Struck by Gallery Place Metro Train

Metro said a person was struck by a train at the Gallery Place Metro Station. Metro said the person is alive and trapped between the crawl space and the first rail. Gallery Place Red Line traffic is stopped

Mits said...

I love the Metro it is fabulous here, but it can get very crowded, and confusing...

floralgirl said...

Thanks, Helen:)
Yeah, I've been watching that cam since late last nite, watching C-span on tv also.
Pileated woodpecker is outside my window, I'd get a pic, but I don't want to scare him away.

floralgirl said...

Oh, that's awful, with such large criowds, it's easy to see how someone could fall or get pushed down there.

Mits said...

Megan , hubby has it on NBC....maybe C-Span is the way to go.....

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Hello all, been lurking around this morning!! Excitement is in the air for sure. Something like that was almost bound to happen in DC. Lucky if that is the only thing that happens (bet the one who is stuck doesn't feel lucky though). We had a big ole red-tailed hawk out here this morning, red-bellied woodpecker amongst the other usual beautiful birds.

Mema Jo said...

Whoa! Another multivehicle crash on Interstate 81 north of Chambersburg this morning. Two people are confirmed dead.
At 9:13 a.m. both northbound lanes of I-81 are closed and one southbound lane is open, police said.

Prayers for those that died & those that were injured! Weather is the
contributing factor - People need to slow it down..

normabyrd said...

MEGAN---I hope the bird isn't 'tapping' on you window?----Aren't they beautiful--but noisy!! ho!

floralgirl said...

C-Span is pretty good, no breaking away for commercials, and they are really showing the crowds in DC.

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for that link, Megan.
You should have mail.

floralgirl said...

He isn't tapping on my house, Norma, just on a tree right outside it. He is gorgeous. Hubby saw a big red fox this morning, just after daylight, of couse I walked out two minutes too late...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

We have a first cousin that lives in Chambersburg.

hedgie said...

Norma, I don't recall the specifics, but remember something about "witches birds" that tap on windows, signifying a pending death within....there was a Nancy Drew book that featured it when I was a kid..it made a big impression on me, and my mean little sister rode my a.. about it and made it into a big joke. So, one night, with the help of my ever-lovin' daddy, I snuck outside and using his belt buckle, I tapped on her bedroom window!!! Scared her pretty "good'!!

normabyrd said...

OH HEDGIE!!---You are "mean"!!---ho!---I had a younger sister too!---She used to get away with MURDER!!--ho!----That's so funny!----Oh how I loved those NANCY DREW books!!----

Mema Jo said...

I have been able to find out from Paula's work place that Paula's mom has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be set up. The family is waiting for her son to return from Jamaica.

With this info I pray all of us can now
relax our worries for our special gal!
WE LOVE YOU PAULA & Prayers and positive thoughts are coming at you and your family!

normabyrd said...

I have CH 7---ABC---no commercials
--FRONT DOOR OF WHITE HOUSE OPEN---here they come---

Mema Jo said...

Do you see any Sec Svc men up on the roof of the capitol? The cam seems to have a good zoom... I pray they get the injured person off the Metro tracks...

ceil said...

Good cold morning all. It is cold. I thought it was going to warm up. Hope it does by Saturday or there could be ice on the bay.
Thanks Jo regarding Paula's mom. Just mailed a card to her.
Lynn the zoo keeper is still in critical condition according to the Baltimore news.
We had to go out last night and it was icy and trucks and cars did not slow down.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Thanks, Mema Jo, for the info on Paula!! Prayers and love sent her way.

normabyrd said...

Thanks JO!---PAULA has certainly handled things well!!----My thoughts & prayers are with her & her family---

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Wonder what is up with our cam??

Mits said...

it went down early last evening Sharon, right after the last visit.....I hope they did not bump into the cam while they where in the top branches...the cam view changed yesterday, think the gorilla tape might be slipping

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

The wind is about to blow our eagle's hat off!!

Mits said...

well, we shall see, actions speak louder than words

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Right Mits, the proof is in the puddin'! But I am hopeful!

floralgirl said...

Well, I will remain optomistic, cause actions do speak luoder than words, and I have not cared for the actions of the last 8 years.....
Sorry, I'm fired up....

Mema Jo said...

So glad I'm checking back in! Noisy up there in the nest.. I grabbed a sandwich and tuned in to the Eagles' lunch. Fantastic!

Our 44th gave a very dramatic speech - His words were really powerful and meaningful! I was very impressed

I am finally home. We got into Omaha at 11:30 last night and it was drizzling, so we decided not to drive home. Coming back to winter after a week in the 80's is not my idea of fun!

deb said...

An eagle, what a nice coming home surprise!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Ok, so it didn't record to DVD but I did record it on the DVR as well, so maybe I can get that onto a disc.

Mits said...

Mits said...

Belle needs to come up for air...

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Belle is not sharing her lunch with Lib, is she?

deb said...

Yes, Lynn. It was in the 80's all week, we couldn't have asked for better weather.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

This little dog is so funny. If we sneeze or cough or clap our hands or anything like that, he barks his head off!!

hedgie said...

Mits, you have mail!

hedgie said...

Oh, Sissy, Cinnamon doxie does the same thing if it startles her--like when she's dozing!

hedgie said...

She is beginning to get hard of hearing, tho', so it's not as bad as it used to be. She used to be SO attracted to animal sounds on TV, and would actually watch the screen as long as there was an animal making noise...but not much anymore.

hedgie said...

One gone...?Belle?

deb said...

I like the new Lake Washington Live Cam. It was nice to see one eagle in the nest for a bit when I found the cam.

Deb welcome home...

Thanks Jo for update on Paula's Mother. Prayers to a special lady and her family.

This is a very historical day in US History. We all must pray for our NEW PRESIDENT. Report on Ted Kennedy is he is ok. The long of the day and cold tired him out and helped caused the seizure. Senator Byrd was taken out due to being upset about his friend Senator Kennedy.

Prayers for those involved in different traffic accidents. Plus the metro accident.

**GREAT DAY**

**EVERYONE**

It's really been a great, awesome Inauguration, don't you think!!

So many historical resonances, and the force of the new President's message and the general feeling of joy and brotherhood in the crowds...

It all reminds me of a combination of JFK's Inauguration and Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. What a great, historic day!

Hi Thelma! Glad you got on here...you seem to bring our 2 Mountaineers to the nest:)

T-Bird said...

hello Jim and Wanda

Costume Lady said...

Yes, Jim, it was an impressive Inaugration. Obama seems to want to do all the things he promised us when he was running for President. I pray that he is successful. I haven't had time to view all that we recorded, but did hear his address to the nation. 20 minutes seemed short, sweet and to the point.

Wanda-you need a laptop so you can watch out for Belle and Liberty while your cooking dinner.

Costume Lady said...

Thelma, Gene brought home a Lap-top a few weeks ago, and the keys were so shiney, I couldn't see the letters. He took it back and we decided to wait til our vacation was over and be a little more selective as to what we want and need. Maybe some after Christmas sales will give us some good prices.

magpie said...

Interesting 9-1-1 call 6:30 this morning:

Lady calls, she and a group of 43 traveled up from New Orleans, on their church bus, a diesel. They were headed to Carlisle PA, first, then to the Inauguration (not sure I understand That Part) - bus breaks down at one of our Martinsburg exits! We called around to have a mechanic go check things out, and they were trying to find a more local hotel to settle in and change clothes and things. I think, they must have made it on their way, I hope. I didn't get the update....

All the way from New Orleans, on a Church Bus! ♥

Costume Lady said...

Thanks, Jo. What an interesting concept...a trucker inviting the public along on his travels.

Mits said...

BR Steve's cat is named TK (truck kat) and if you e-mail him he does answer you back....it takes him a few days, but he does get back to you....I never did get an answer from the e-mail address for the eagle cam on our site.....?

magpie said...

HI MITS
My schedule here said would come through around 5:29.. A month ago that would have been dark enough to see it! I scooted outdoors to check, saw Bright Venus, but think it was too bright yet to see the ISS -
A schedule I printed over the week-end had listed a fly by for Wednesday, but that is no longer posted.... :(
