Mits said...

split...split...hooray:)

I have never gotten any answers from the Live Cam email address but it seems it helps to get the cam fixed. The only time I use it is to say that the cam is down.

I wonder if anyone else thinks that the cam has shifted a little?

don't know if any of you dog owners by this brand.....

-- PetSmart Inc. said late Tuesday it is recalling seven types of its Grreat Choice dog biscuits because of a salmonella concern. The pet products retailer said the affected products were made with peanut paste made by Peanut Corp. of America, which is currently the focus of a Food and Drug Administration salmonella probe. PetSmart said it is not aware of any cases of illness related to the dog biscuits.

this visiting police officer saved the woman's' life at the METRO station.........

WASHINGTON -- A transit officer from Houston played hero in D.C.'s Metro system Tuesday morning.

Officer Elliott Swainson is in D.C. to help beef up Metro's police presence for the inauguration. When a 68-year-old woman from Nashville fell onto the tracks, Swainson dove off the platform, grabbed the woman and rolled under the lip of the platform, avoiding a train by inches.

Metro had to close the Gallery Place and Metro Center stations to investigate, forcing people to walk further to reach the National Mall, but service has been restored.

The woman apparently fell when she turned to look for a relative she had been separated from. She was hospitalized with a dislocated shoulder.

Train stations were extremely crowded Tuesday and Metro advised passengers to stand at least 2 feet away from the platform edge for their safety.

☺ Just found out today that a good deputy friend of mine has a Shiba Inu - three years old. I saw her Sunday and she is an absolute beauty. He got her at the local humane society, reports she is High-strung ! ☺

magpie said...

Wonderful Story about the Houston transit officer, MITS -
sad, how it happened, but he was surely her Guardian Angel! Good Texas Hospitality! ☺

Mits said...

give me a retriever dog any day....those dogs did look high strung

floralgirl said...

Thanks, Helen, I hadn't seen an update on that story. What a wonderfully brave police officer, so lucky for that woman he was there and acted quickly. Truly the definition of a hero.

Lolly said...

Hi all! Welcome back, Deb, you have been missed!

Have been glued to the TV today! What a historic memorable day! Jack put out our flag and cooked us a great breakfast to celebrate!

Did take off an hour or so to go get beautiful..hair cut and highlights! LOL

Mits said...

I know that woman feels blessed tonight, as Margy said he was her Guardian Angel today...Hello Lolly....

Lolly said...

Hi Helen! Sitting here watching the balls and eating a bowl of torilla soup. Have sat here most of the day!

Mits said...

President and his wife just danced their first dance.

Mits said...

hubby has been home all day, Lolly, their DC office was closed, so he worked from home.....guess a short preview of when he retires:)

Lolly said...

Can understand that! Lucky he did not have to go into DC today.

Jack has been doing a little work recently...teleconferences and he is going to be gone in two weeks for a week. Strange to have him gone after 9 years of retirement.

Going to go look at Glo's additions, and then head for the tub. Think I've had enough TV for today.....a soak and some reading will relax me and make the sandman come! Prayers for all in need, including our country and our new president. GOD BLESS THE USA.

floralgirl said...

wow, sorry to hear Loretta is sick.
Gald to hear Deb is home safe.
Watching tv, the Obamas look like a very loving couple, love the dress.
Just told teen to go to bed, she was online chatting with her boyfriend, with web cam, they can see and hear each other, technology is amazing...all we ever had was the telephone..
Off to bed- early for me, tomorrow is hubby's bday and back to school for kid, must get up early and make everybody breakfast, nite all:)

Mits said...

she looks very pretty...loved the Commander-In-Chief ball where they dance with the military

Mits said...

Amen to that...God Bless the President and GOD BLESS THE USA

Red said...

Mits, Big Rig Steve is broke again. Has truck at dealer in Omaha. Time for me to go to bed. See Y'all tomorrow.

Mits said...

darn, Red, poor guy is having some bad luck...costing him a chunk of change I bet:(

Mits said...

I can't get on to our cam..says link is broken

Mema Jo said...

Back to say good night.

So what will we see in the morning?????
The server at www.fws.gov is taking too long to respond.

I sure hope Loretta gets her health back. That bug can really hit you without warning & keep you down for a couple days or more.

I liked the ball gown & I liked the dancing couple!

Megan - tell hubby Happy B-day & that there is a good year coming at him

My favorite thing that I saw today, was the second preacher (Lawry?) who made everyone laugh during his prayer. I haven't seen Michelle's gown. Hope to see it on morning news.
Get well, Loretta.

Costume Lady said...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR. MEGAN:):)

magpie said...

Hi Wanda! I remember reading your post about them closing the blinds for privacy! Somehow my computer didn't show that until earlier this morning!

I think we should head to Megan's for a Bacon Breakfast, and add to the Birthday Celebration.... ☺

magpie said...

I am just waiting for something live and feathery to show up at Norfolk or Maine....

Costume Lady said...

I wonder what is in BWE nest? Looks like to dried up corn husks.

magpie said...

But I can read my Sand Dollar postcard in the meantime ! ☺ ♥

Costume Lady said...

I have an idea too, for breakfast. Lets pick up Mr. and Mrs. Megan and take them both to Red's for breakfast. A little trip would be a good B'Day gift;)

magpie said...

I checked that nest after dark, Wanda (BWE) and didn't notice it then, wonder if they are making overnight visits? Or if I just cannot remember things right!

Eagle at Norfolk nest !

Costume Lady said...

Margy, I wondered if you knew the legand of the sand dollar, that is why I chose that card. It is a beautiful legend. It was sent from Myrtle Beach area, I believe. It was cold there, so we didn't stop.

magpie said...

Norfolk didn't stay long :(

I had read it before, but it's been too long so it was nice to see it again, Wanda!

Oh, Red could put on the Feed Back for sure ! ☺

magpie said...

Squirrels and birds feasting at Pix Pa

magpie said...

Well, I wasn't exactly planning on getting up quite so early, going back to the pillows to catch some serenity before the rest of the day gets rolling...

Back in a little while...

☺ xo

magpie said...

Oh boy, color is up at Norfolk.
Maine looks wonderful, just need some birds there ! Before the lumberjacks arrive ! Their language is too strong for the Elegant Eagles !

magpie said...

Later on will have to try to collect that information from DEB about the live view at Lake Washington....

magpie said...

Thoughts for Paula....
and Get Well Wishes for Loretta....♥ ♥

Costume Lady said...

It is a beautiful, sunny morning here in Martinsburg/Shepherdstown, but only 15°. Brrrr!

Morning all.
Cold again here in PA
Turkey at the snowman cam. Everyone else is out hunting for breakfast, I guess.
Speaking of turkeys, there is a flock of them that is within sight of my house this week. I guess the cold and snow drove them out of the woods, like the deer.
Off later to Pittsburgh to hunt for crossbills, they have been seen in city parks and other public areas. We decided not to chance the snowy secondary roads in the state forest.
You all be good.
