Thank you Deb and Steve.

I just had to mention that I bought gas yesterday for $1.89 :):)
A new service station opened up on my way home, on shepherdstown Rd. I will never have to go out of my way again to get gas! Posted a photo of it on Wild and Wonderful...very nice.

Wanda - I can't find that gas station

hedgie said...

It wasn't necessarily a pretty game, but a win is a win is a win!! GO REDSKINS!!!!

hedgie said...

Margy, I'm confused....sat tracking said ISS at 5:30 for me...and there's no way it could take that long an interval to be visible for you......needless to say, I DIDN'T see it. But Venus and Jupiter are beautiful!!!

Costume Lady said...

I guess I missed you, Margy, but I know you will be back. Yes, GeeGee is well today. She is kinda wrung out from all the poking and proding that was done to her, but she felt well enough to make an egg custard just before I left to go home. She begged me to stay, but it was getting dark and I don't like to travel by myself after dark. I am a wimp! Couldn't spend the night, I have Santa Suits to steam and sell tomorrow. She knows I'll be back, soon.

hedgie said...

Jo, what do you mean you can't find the gas station??

Good evening everyone

hedgie said...

Do you mean not familiar w/ name? ROC's stands for Roach Oil Company, a long-time local supplier--they used to have Texaco stations; switched to Shell a few years ago, and hooked up w/ Subway franchiser.

Costume Lady said...

Well, now, what do you know, that service station was robbed already. Not only did they take the money, they took EVERYTHING!;)

I caught the thieves, JO, and made them put everything right back where they found it. Try again. "Wild and Wonderful"

magpie said...

Howdy evening people

The New Rocs is just outside the city limits of Martinsburg...wish it was IN THE CITY actually....

The old Shenandoah Valley Health Services building Used to be there.

Wanda - maybe GeeGee will just enjoy looking at everyone's avatars...! That's a treat in itself.

Let me rephrase something:
All of you are Special Momsters, but I don't have THAT many blank CD's = = xox xo ♥ ♥ ♥ ☺

Costume Lady said...

Have you seen the one I am speaking of, Lynn? It is really nice.

hedgie said...

Hi, Dave! How's everything out your way? Have you heard from Miss Vicki lately?

magpie said...

Hedgie: I can't figure out the time difference either for ISS..should be pretty much the same....?? ?? Maybe they pick the far east of 25401 and the far west of 25427..that could make just a tiny bit of difference I guess...MITS would know !

Costume Lady said...

I am thrilled to have the station on my way home. I can pick up a loaf of bread and milk and gas and go. Yeah!

hedgie said...

Yes, Wanda...saw it, but haven't stopped there yet. Convenient for when I head to Ranson if I need gas! I always go 45 to 480 and then to Kearneysville and pick up the new bypass. Much faster that way.

magpie said...

Funny comment, Wanda, re Rocs: it is just a matter of time 'til it gets hit! This is definitely the Christmas Stealing Season

Music Alert

If you are Roy Orbison fans, or not, on Tuesday on PBS (My channel 3) I can't remember the time, mabye around 8 pm? a Roy Orbison special, black and white, in a smoky setting but also has Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, KD Lang, Bonnie Raitt, it is really good, some great Jammin'. It's been on several times before but it is really good! ☺ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫

Costume Lady said...

The pileated Woodpecker is so special. Looks prehistoric. We have a nest of them in the woods next to us...we can hear them (sounds like a jungle bird) but don't see them very often. I have never seen a cedar waxwing...now I know why, they like berries. I need to do some more wildlife planting. Going to do my butterfly garden in the spring.

hedgie said...

Is anyone a peppermintholic? Two new items that are delicious...Edy's "Limited Edition" Peppermint Ice Cream--very similar to the old HOward Johnson's version--and Hershey's white chocolate w/ pieces of peppermint kisses......mmmm good!

hedgie said...

Oh, Margy, I have watched that several times and have the CD. It IS great...the guest artists "fought" over the privelege to perform w/ Roy, who to me is one of the greatest ever! You can see their adoration of him in their eyes!

Costume Lady said...

Sounds great, Margy. KD Lang's "Constant Craving" and Roy Orbison's "Crying" are some of my favorites.

magpie said...

Loretta! They are great pictures !

I am happy to say that we have Pileateds in Berkeley County, also Downies, Hairys, Red-Bellieds, and I saw some Red-Headeds two years in a row but not this year! ☺

hedgie said...

Pics are great, Loretta. Sure is hard to believe that Jug Bay is frozen already!

magpie said...

... Well, Hedgie....it is a Christmas music CD.... ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪

Costume Lady said...

Margy, I showed my Mom a photo of the pheasant and she said she has never seen one in all the thirty-some years she has lived there. How special for me to see one and to get a picture (bad as it is) to show her. ISN'T WILDLIFE WONDERFUL?

magpie said...

Wanda - I must kidnap you and take you to Swanging Bradge next year! You and anyone else that can join us! I have seen as many as 40 or 50 there, there are very communal...such a fun bird to watch !

hedgie said...

I love the pileateds, but they are SO destructive. They have killed several trees on my property--they peck to get the harmless bugs and make so many big holes that then the bad bugs get in. I hear them when I go outside all day long!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good evening everyone. Hope all is well with everyone. Mema Jo, we got gas for 1.59 yesterday in Troutville, Virginia. Unbelievable. I am going to go stretch out in the bed for a little while. Wore slam out!

hedgie said...

Wanda, we used to have pheasant and grouse all the time when we lived on Ridge Rd. Of course it was mostly still orchard and farmland then...those days are gone. Used to joke while driving down road that we could get our meal if we just stopped the car and used a net!!

magpie said...

Wanda - glad you are familiar with that Roy Orbison show! I am probably going to have buy the DVD too...I will be working that night, unfortunately...

Hedgie! I used to work at Howard Johnson's! I was at the ice cream counter of all places! I loved their peppermint ice cream, and most all of the 27 flavors !! ☺ ☺ There should be a smiley face pic with a big slurpy tongue hanging out somewhere, that would be me! xo ♥

hedgie said...

Good for you Sharon! Too bad WV doesn't lower their gas tax to where VA's is. Rest and take it easy. Did you call the Dr.?

Costume Lady said...

I cooked a big beef roast a few days ago, and took the fat off of it and placed in the suet feeder. The woodys just love it. Have every kind of woody on it but the pileated. I guess they are too big to hang on. We have an old stump just below the feeders, that the pileateds visit when they decide to show up. Stump looks terrible there, but have to keep pileateds habby;)

Luney's Sunday Update....

Sunday, November 23
On Friday the cub was 83 days old, and he received another clean bill of health from our veterinarian, Dr. Sam Rivera. He got his second distemper vaccine and a full check-up. During the exam, Dr. Rivera noticed that one upper canine tooth is just about to erupt! The rest of the cub's teeth were securely underneath the gums, but will probably start to push through over the next few weeks. We also got another set of body measurements for the cub. The measurements are as follows: body length: 49.5 cm; tail length: 6.3 cm; neck girth: 28 cm; chest girth: 43.5; abdominal girth: 47.5; nose pad width: 4.8 cm. Scroll down to the Nov 11th update to see how much the cub has grown in the past 2 weeks. As always, I remain in awe of how big the cub's belly is- 18.7 inches!

Sharon, I had small (1/4") surgical incision get infected last Dec. when they did carotid stent (up thru the femeral artery from the hip). Went to reg. Dr. He sent sample to lab suspecting it was MRSA. They could not test it as the vial was damaged & sample contaminated!! DUH. Whatever it was, antibiotics cleared it up.
That was an unusual procedure---you are awake, but not supposed to move or talk (took 20 min.)You're pretty much tied down & they placed squeaky horn by my right hand. On command I had to squeeze it to let them know I was "still there". Just like Clarabell the Clown if you know of Howdy Doody Show!
