I was supposed to be working at the zoo tomorrow, but because of the company last weekend and this weekend, I decided it was best for me to hang out here at the beach, it is a rough life, but someone has to do it...tee-hee!
Love to read the blog from one entry to the other. Thanks for the PA Peregrine update Mits, fascinating.
DEB - we will surely miss you, and anticipate all your new photos. Will you be on the computer at all? HAVE A GREAT TIME! I KNOW YOU WILL, CAMPING IN THE WILDERNESS...
NORMA: Beauty Rules!
I am heading out to Annandale, VA (Hedgie's old stomping grounds!!) this morning, overnighter with one sister, then we will travel over to Ruxton, near Baltimore, to visit our oldest sister...I'll return to the Roost late Wednesday.
So, there will be no chattering from this Magpie for a couple of days! Take care of the 'EAGLATS' for me while I am gone, and ALL YOU GUYS: TAKE CARE, BE SAFE, AND KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU !!
No, I won''t have a computer, no access at the river. It is down in a valley, so I don't even think Wi-Fi is a possibility. It will be weird to be out of contact with everyone. There isn't even cell phone service unless you head up the hills.
Well, parent arrived with food with an eaglet right behind. Then a second eaglet flew in, took the food and took off. Parent then took off and the third eaglet arrived. Two in the nest now!
I think that was all three kids. First parent, then juvie who got the food, second juvie who tried to steal it. Juvie with food left, and the third came in, too late for any action.
No access is not a good thing. We had our awning to come loose again in Nothing, AZ. and had absolutely no cell phone signal. There was one of those roadside emergency phones there and it didn't work either. Gene's hand was still hurting from the first time the awning came loose and we had to sit until a good samaratin came and helped to secure it. We do have Guardian Angels!
Good Morning Everyone. I am home, doing well and its going to be a great day. Even the fact I have over 400 emails doesn't bother me. My in basket is over flowing and I cant see across the street for smoke from the fires but its still a great day. Our baby Katelyn is beyond beautiful. She looks like a pink rosebud. Rick's house is over flowing with little ones. In between he and adopted brother John they have six little ones under three. Rick has a large new home that is just built for families. I feel much better about them both moving away so far since visiting them. They did the right thing. Where they are, is perfect for them. I came home with a peace I didn't have when I went. I really think the road between Sacramento and Boise will be well traveled by this mom. Everything is safe at home thanks to Shari, Gary and Diana. Heidi is still pouting that she was left behind. She wouldn't even wag her tail until this morning. Our skunk friend is back. The repellent I ordered came when I was gone. I will put it out tonight and see if it helps. Well I had better get back to work and earn a dollar. By the way its going to be 107 today and the same all week. With this smoke its just not healthy. Its times like this when I wonder why I stayed in Sacramento. Hugs.
BTW, ocean cities crowd was up 26,000 people from last July 4th, we had an estimate of 326,000 people here for the 4th:)So much for the price of gas being an hindrance
Hi all! It is still morning here so....Good morning! Going to be really quiet around here with Deb and Magpie gone. Deb have fun! I do not know how many times I have drug Jack out after dark in Colorado, attempting to see beaver. Never any luck! Heard one though, slapped his tail, he did!
Had a little blood work done this morning....now I think I am going out and definityly sweat a lot outside. Have a few chores to do. Gotta keep things in shape!
I am home and catching up on the blog. I have to get gas for the mower yet today and stop mail. I should have done all that when I was out, but forgot gas can.
Helen, maybe those extra visitors to OC would have normally gone to Myrtle Beach or Nags Head, but came your way because it took less gas to get there. IT IS GOING TO BE A LOOOONG, EXPENSIVE SUMMER!
JO, I took the test and I am Sky Blue. Another fun deterent from the sky-high cost of living. Thanks CHRISSY. We can just stay at home and play games and chat!
Wanda, we got a lot of PA, and NY people, they would not go further south than us, some drive for 7 to 8 hours just to get here....wish some of them would go further south
A lot of people here are still going places, but doing it differently. Instead of pulling a camper, they are bringing the tent. It helps that we are having a cooler summer than the last few years. We haven't gotten out of the 80's much at all and no 100's, so tents work ok.
Those two Mountaineers were really feisty, weren't they...I didn't see any food; did one of them take off with it or what? Those parents are absolute GEMS!
We have so many wonderful photographers on this blog to keep us "up with events" that we wouldn't normally get to see. Without them, we would not see so many wonders of nature. THANK ALL OF YOU!
SISSY--BUTA BUTA (Sharon's name for Atlanta PANDA)----She is the only PANDA we can see now---LUN LUN is her MOM--ZOO keeps checking LUN LUN to see if she is pregnant!--Little MEI used to give her MOM a rough time when they were together!---She was a real IMP!---She was so funny!!----- later--need food!
Yes, Helen, we have been to Chincateague/Assateague...love it there. Got the worst sunburn of my life there. Went out with my sister-in-law very early in the morning with a cup of coffee and sat in a lounge chair. No suntan lotion on...didn't plan on staying. They guys brought us breakfast and we just sat and talked til after 12 noon. My lips swelled up so much, I looked like Angelina Jolie. Then, I got the worlds worst feaver blister. I had to go to work looking like that! Gene was accused by everyone of beating me up. LOL
The Wild Watch Osprey cam looks closer to the nest - have no clue how that could have happened and it might just be my memory but I can see the chicks much better.
BC Nest - I know the tree is about to fall over but now the nest is falling apart. I just wonder if a new tree will be used next season by the eagle couple?
I just signed back on after a forced close down, and my 30 sec cam shows no eaglets, but the live feed is showing two of them at the far end of the nest.
Good Afternoon Everyone in Eagleland!!! Never came back last night---konked out in loungechair after dinner! Have looked at and saved a lot of stuff---all the Buddy info. Love the Cards from Kids! Hedgie---glad you passed your scan. I've been CA free for 7 yrs.--had no spread from 2 I had, so never had to have rad. or chemo. Been in a Hospital Support Group since '01 -we learn lots of new things & help the newbies who are of course devastated. You can learn to live w/anything w/God's help or whoever you believe in. AMEN
Saw the possums on my back fence! Couldn't believe it!
Thx Wanda. I was gonna trash can that comment---thought it was too personal, but might help somebody & many of us are in the age group that we should GET OUR TESTS!!!!!They save lives. AMEN again!
Loretta, the most valuable resource that we have on here is each other. Listening to others life experiences can be a very valuable tool. I wish I had known 15 years ago what I know now. My Mom had cancer and I thought she was going to die. Didn't know you could survive such a devastating illness. She was 73 then and is almost 88 now. Long time survivor.
Thanks, Loretta. Congrats on 7 years!!! How cool is that?? Sounds like I missed alot of nest action today. Got several errands run after lunch, but I am pooped now after getting in softener salt! Enjoyed catching up on comments!! Too many to respond to! Time to get some dinner, then I'll take Chrissy's test! Will let you know! Well, blogger cop is getting me..have tried to send three times...here goes again!
I am Sky Blue...looks like you and me, Wanda, from Chrissy's tally!! So glad your mom is a survivor, too. BTW, my mom is 89. Her folks were 94 and 96 when they passed, so we certainly have long-term genes!
Its 7;30 here and light out but its still over 100. I set out my skunk repelent. we will see how it works. wish I could sit out and wait but I need my beauty sleep.
Brandon is doing fine. thanks. He is growing so fast. The repelent looks like dust bunnies. Its strange. I thought it was going to be pellets. the cat took one sniff and had a fit. He went to roll in the dirt.
Deb - you are still getting plenty of rain if you are still mowing every 5 days! I am down to over a week...rain just not bringing it back to mow more often.
Paula it was the same in Boise . There were so many Canadian geese you couldnt find a place to picnic. I went down to the river with a bucket to get water to wash the table off .

Hey Hedgie, Sharon and ya'll in WV - dialing the 10 digits takes no time to learn. Been doing it here in MD for quite some time...
Good morning everyone. It is a beautiful, sunny morning here today with no wind
Good Late Morning to all the Eagle Buds...
Live Feed Good Here too, except the nest is too empty! Guess I would be out flying around in the early morning coolness if I were an Eagle myself.
Looks like they are decorating for Christmas at BWE: some new nesting straw, and a pine cone!
Barton Cove, haven't been able to get live cam for a day or so, can now, but don't see the "Eaglat".
Those flamingo chicks are growing by beaks and legs!
And Finney FerryBoat is as beautiful as ever with an occasional visit by the Hooded Crows. That is one beautiful bird!

It doesn't sound like we will be doing 10 digits for quite some time. Not enough people around here to have to worry much about who you are calling.
I'm SO OLD i REMEMBER THE ROTARY PHONES, NOW THAT WOULD BE A CHALLENGE
looks like BERTHA, will not be a problem for us....thank God

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
Busy day here. Lawn, garden, flower beds, Gene. LOL
BBlater.
HAVE A GOOD TIME MARGY, WE'LL MISS YOU!!
DEB, have a wonderful trip and see if you can get more BEAVER photos. I love those critters. Maybe it's because I have never seen one for real.
Adult and juvies!
babies in the nest, Yay!
Good Good Morning All
I love reading this blog but then I forget to sign in when I actually open it - You are such a group of special people.
I caught the Owls, Norma!
Guess we'll have B-day celebration tomorrow for Tai. I remember his 1st one! Time does go by!!!!
Fluff those feathers!!
hope Margy got to see them before she left.
I would love to be able to really tell which kids are in our nest - rather then just guess at it.
Off to get my hair cut, I will load video when I get back! Sharon and I saw the same thing!
those juvies are too funny....when I come back to town, might have to go up and visit, especially now that we can get closer to the nest:)
The campground has a phone if family needs me they can call them. So, it isn't total no access, just not the conveniences we are used to.
BBL
I say we just had 2 good accountings of what went on at the nest!
Thanks Sharon & Deb........
Tiny is in the nest!
Yepper! July 4 was the ending date of no access to the Barn Road!!
Got to go get those turtle shells!!
missed all that action!!
Paula - are you guessing about Tiny or are you looking at the tail feathers??? I don't think he has a white spot on his head anymore.
Tiny still has the white dot on head and the whitest tail feathers.
Sissy - Deb will probably post a video when she gets back.
Have you seen her most recent video.. check it out.
aren't they absolutely beautiful!
I need to look closer for the white dot on Tiny's head.
Is Tiny at 1:00 or 3:00?
I think it is Baby Littley at 1 o'clock.
That was Tiny that took off....I believe Pearl is left in the nest....looked like Middy is the one that swiped the lunch
LOL....WHO IS ON 1ST?
LOL no one now
missed the take off too. Just no luck today. But I did get to see 2 of the babies, so it could be worse.
I am Ocean Blue!!

It is not getting any cooler. It has gone up from 85° to 86° since I sat down here. Better get back outside before it decides to hit 90°.
she is not sharing her lunch.
they are really giving us a show this afternoon.
Wow, now that was awesome! One was on the tree trunk right at the cam!
LOL
Well, my still pic is stuck on 12:28. Anybody else's?
My still pic is stuck as well.
ohhhh, not good Wanda.
I'm not using the still cam, been watching on RP. and missed most of the action
off to get lunch....BBL
I see 2 in the nest...but my RP reset 4 minutes ago, so missed the earlier closeups!
My 30 sec cam stuck too
Calling out to the right!
There is a big hunk missing from the BC nest...look at the lower left of the nest!
My RP reset, too, so I missed all the action. At least there are still two in the nest now.
My still cam is frozen also
My RP had to be reset
The Wild Watch Osprey cam looks closer to the nest - have no clue how that could have happened and it might just be my memory but I can see the chicks much better.
You are right, Jo, it is much closer now. That is great, now we can see for sure if there are three chicks, since they said three eggs.
BC Nest - I know the tree is about to fall over but now the nest is falling apart. I just wonder if a new tree will be used next season by the eagle couple?
For a minute I thought one eaglet had left, but it is laying down.
I just signed back on after a forced close down, and my 30 sec cam shows no eaglets, but the live feed is showing two of them at the far end of the nest.
Jim
Well, my day is done, I am signing out. Will check back in on you dudes and dudettes after while!!
Have a lovely evening, everyone.
I don't know if you are watching the WE nest, but neither of the lady eaglets has fledged yet.
Today is 13 weeks for the older one, and she is showing signs of fledging soon.
The second one doesn't get nearly as much food, so I don't know how much of a gap there will be between them.
Jim
Good Afternoon Everyone in Eagleland!!!
Never came back last night---konked out in loungechair after dinner! Have looked at and saved a lot of stuff---all the Buddy info. Love the Cards from Kids!
Hedgie---glad you passed your scan. I've been CA free for 7 yrs.--had no spread from 2 I had, so never had to have rad. or chemo. Been in a Hospital Support Group since '01 -we learn lots of new things & help the newbies who are of course devastated. You can learn to live w/anything w/God's help or whoever you believe in. AMEN
Jim the WE eaglets are only 12 weeks old this week...
I see we still have 2 in the nest! Amazing!! Looks like they were trying to do some nest repair!
See what you mean about the cams--still stuck on 12:38 I think. Just saw 2 juvies on Live cam. One appeared to be squawking & left the nest.
There is only one now...
Lots of calling out before eaglet left...someone must have had food!
Aww, Nature, cute avatar pic. Did you see them at the park or your house?
See ya'll later...running home to feed the dogs, then heading to the carnival...catch ya later!!
I think BC eaglet has fledged...
AMEN,,,,Loretta!
Saw the possums on my back fence!
Couldn't believe it!
Thx Wanda. I was gonna trash can that comment---thought it was too personal, but might help somebody & many of us are in the age group that we should GET OUR TESTS!!!!!They save lives. AMEN again!
Been lurking most of the afternoon
Watching the one juvie
Going to eat dinner now & will
BBL
30 sec. picture is working again.
Strike that comment, it was working, now I can't get it at all.
I'll try again, 30 second cam is working!
My 30 sec is working and sure is clear!
Something must be nearby, the eaglet is hoping all over the nest and calling out.
And we have an empty nest again. Off to do some more mowing.
PA woods are quiet
There is a doe on the Okie Bird Cam
I am Sky Blue...looks like you and me, Wanda, from Chrissy's tally!!
So glad your mom is a survivor, too. BTW, my mom is 89. Her folks were 94 and 96 when they passed, so we certainly have long-term genes!
All done mowing for another time. It is going to get long while I am gone. Usually by now I am down to once a week, but I am still at every 5 days.
My Grandmother (Mom's mother) was 94 and Dad's mother was 92. Hope I follow suit.
HO HO!! The little IMP turns 3 tomorrow and YOU can leave him a Birthday message......I just did!
Link for Tai's B-day message
I hope you do, too, sweet Wanda!
Safe trip, Deb. Have fun and take lots of pics!
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE off to watch the Deadliest Catch...ttut:)
Have a wonderful trip, Deb, we will really miss you!!
Me, too, Helen! One of my favs.I will never complain about the cost of crabs again!!
good evening everyone-spidies crawling around :)
no eaglets though :(
good night everyone sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite
any body awake?
Yes, Anne-Marie, I am but not for long! :)
I am - just got in a little while ago
Hi everybody, I'm late I know but I just got through with my chores.
Its 7;30 here and light out but its still over 100. I set out my skunk repelent. we will see how it works. wish I could sit out and wait but I need my beauty sleep.
What is the repellant, Anne? A spray?
Like the pic Tbird.
How is Brandon, Anne? I saw a couple kids at the carnival with broken arms...I thought of Brandon.
$100 fine if you feed the ducks at Culler Lake in Frederick now. Too many ducks and duck poop.
Nice to see the cam up, even if it's MT - and I see the 30 sec cam is working again
Paula it was the same in Boise . There were so many Canadian geese you couldnt find a place to picnic. I went down to the river with a bucket to get water to wash the table off .
LOL Anne, hope it keeps the skunks away!
Problem at the lake is people bringing in whole loaves to feed them...not just crumbs anymore
Rain, whats that? I am letting the hose run as we speak. the back lawn is brown even with the auto sprinklers. they must need to be adjusted.
Afraid all the poop will pollute the creek that runs through town
