My friends and family will be at my Mother's (she is so close to the fireworks, it seems they may fall on you). Any of my friends on here who would like to join us to see the fireworks, are sooo welcome. Just email me, and I will give you directions. If you come a little before the fireworks, Gene my give you a pork chop or bratwurst. ENJOY YOUR SPECIAL DAY!

Okay Captain and First Mate...I am waiting for a chicken in the oven to finish baking...din=din for work for the week-end, and it has about 45 mins to go..
Then I think I will pull on my bibs and rain coat and head over, unless "you know where" rings me up first...
I knew we were going to get "some rain" but didn't think it was going to be "this much." Holds down the house and brush fires from stray fireworks though...makes for some soggy feathers!

Hope everyone has had a good day. Picnic was fine, and then rain started right after 3...and it hasn't completely stopped since! Looks like we may be in for it all night, but it is the kind we need. Just heard that Martinsburg canceled fireworks. Sorry Maggie, Wanda and Gene! I watched A Capitol Fourth--as always, ( you can take the girl out of DC but you can't take DC out of the girl!) and now the fireworks on WETA. Glad the rain held off down there!
Hope our eagle family isn't startled by all the noise of fireworks around the area!
It's about time for Chrissy to get a facial! Can't wait to see what Wanda comes up with!!! A Union Jack in the background would be good!

WOW, DOUBLE WOW !!
I have just returned from the picnic at Wanda's Mother's place, about 6 blocks from here. GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT FOOD. And the Eagle Express Rides Again! Captain Eagle had the awning out to shield him from the rain while he rustled up some great dogs, pork chops, and bratwurst, cooked to perfection. Other specialties included hot crab dip, spinach dip, fruit salad, "electric watermelon," (i.e. soaked in something exotic). I met Wanda's Mom (a delightful, bright, keen lady...) Wanda and Gene's two daughters, four grandchildren, and associated spouses, friends, and doggies. (I might not have all those numbers correct...). The neighbors had a lot of whiz-bangs going, but a city officer showed up to remind everyone that anything that goes up in the air is illegal...but the kids still could light off some nice "fountains" with jazzy colors.
The Park's fireworks were postponed 'til Saturday night.
IT WAS A TRULY GREAT WARM FRIENDLY PICNIC, AND I WISH EVERYONE COULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH US TOO!

To clarify about the rain...it was raining at 11 when I left Hedgesville, but hadn't started yet in Jefferson County; started there at 3, and I've been in rain ever since, there, all the way home, and still here!

Did you by any chance see the piece on CBS Sunday Morning about the condition of The Mall...really deteriorating...so sad. Of course, when they keep allowing festivals and protests, etc., what can't they expect? When I was growing up, the 4th festivities and MLK speech were the only things that drew crowds!

I think I must be the last one coming into the nest. Picnic turned into a party and we just got home about 30min. ago. It was wonderful to have my whole family together; that's hard to do what with so many different schedules.
We were so glad Margy came to spend the evening with us. Everyone liked her and Mom thought she was a real sweetheart.
When the police stopped to tell us about illegal fireworks, the crowd accused her of being a spy for 911!
(just kidding her, of course)

At Ferry Boat Finneys, there is a nice little boat moored near the shore and has been there for several hours... wonder what the people are doing.

I saw THREE hooded crows there in the middle of the night.
- Loch Garten nest dark, they might be doing the ringing and tagging.
- Loch Lowes, windy!
- Finney Nest, three nice little "reptiles" snuggled down in the nest- I think Mother is feeding -
- Pic Controller - buck deer with antlers, and other deer

Good morning Magpie and all Eagle Momsters. Sure wish live feed was up. We have two eaglets in the nest and one that was really showing off its wing span as soon as I logged in this morning.
THAT WAS ENTIRELY TOO SWIFT, THEY HAVE LEFT ALREADY - WHY DO THEY TEASE US LIKE THAT ???

Feeling a little better today...have to go to work in Hagerstown for a couple of hours this morning...planning on heading over to the nest after that...rain or shine...too close not to stop by!
Speaking of DC, I am originally from Silver Spring...Mom still down there...been in Frederick County (gulp) almost 30 years!!
Raining lightly here this morning...nest looks wet as well...as least the rain has been good for the flowers and the grass.

TBird - I am an hour from the nest...Hagerstown is halfway there...so anytime I am that close...may as well keep heading towards the nest!
