MAGPIE is at work!---PAULA on way to Hagerstown & T-BIRD is wishing she could go with PAULA!!---ho! Guessing all the EAGLE BUDDIES are still SNOOZIN'!!---
The 'LITTLE PRINCE' is roaming around his estate this am-- slowing walking by the window---ignoring all of his fans watching him!---He is a 'SLY ONE'!!!--He's aware he is the #1 attraction at this ZOO!!!----ho!
normabyrd-are you talking about the weather in bluefield, wv or bedford, va? bedford is overcast, humid and calling for scattered rain showers-bluefield is usually bout the same except bedford is usually 5-8 degrees hotter
I was reading about the flamingos on the zoo page. It says eggs are laid in May and June and then incubate for one month. That makes it sounds like the eggs are okay.
The CHIMNEY SWIFT is acting 'little crazy'---do you think the eggs are hatching now????---She puts head down & then pulls back & shakes her body!!---- notice says: (they could hatch any time)
They will cling off to the side and edge to feed the little ones.. as they grow they will face out of the nest allowing the parents to feed them from the wall.. Feeding picture here:
THANKS DEB!!-----I was on the other site!!----That was GREAT watching her go through all that movement & still be attached to the nest!!---Aren't they interesting----Really enjoyed watching her!!
I have been checking email!!---BEAUTIFUL PUZZLE from IRISF!!---I have worked it!!---GUELA has sent us a puzzle---saving it---gonna 'mantle' her puzzle!!
REMEMBER SPUNKY WOULD JUST LIE FLAT WHEN SHE WAS MANTLING HIS FOOD!!---ho!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... NORMA...isn't that what we all do when our kids come around...keep bringing them food? Lib & Belle aren't much different from us.
I hope everyone had a fun day yesterday. Although our Park Fireworks were postponed until tonight, we had a wonderful time at our picnic and did have some of our own fireworks, as did our neighbours. I have posted a few photos from last night on my blog. Margy was our guest of honor. She is quite special.
MORNIN' WANDA & MOVIN'JIM!!---I have been watching the CHIMNEY SWIFT'S EGGS HATCHING!!---She stays on the nest & just does the TWIST a few times!!----Something to watch!!---DEB knows all the details---I think there may be one more???---DEB???
WOW! WANDA heard you folks really had a nice party last night!!!---MAGPIE really enjoyed being there!!!-----JIM did you party too? Rained all day yesterday---now the SUN is out---
WOW!---Check the CHIMNEY SWIFT---I saw 3 chicks!!---can't see the 4th egg or chick!!---THIS HAS BEEN SO EXCITING!!----(takes so little to make me happy)----ho!!---It has been wonderful watching her in the nest today!!
Great pics of your party, Wanda!! Are you working on Chrissy's facial yet? Loretta--check last evenings post for my reply to you about DC! Paula...know that you are a good bit younger than I am, and I left the DC area in '71--at age 22!; but I still miss the metro atmosphere. Mom left in '89, and my sis came here in '92 (they are both in Missouri now) so no family left to go visit!
Hi Hedgie, Yes, I saw your comment last night. Bummer about the firework show not being current. Yes, they moved the new Providence Hosp. Believe the old one was in SE, just off PA ave. I remember the MLK speech. Everyone was told not to drive near that end of the Mall, it was jammed.
I have been a Lazy Lurker all day long! Bad me! Lots of activity at the swift's nest.. Thanks Deb & Norma for all the updates... Happy news of Margy getting over to Wanda's - thanks for the Party Pics! Glad you made it to the lake & back T-Bird. We had picnicking here at the house yesterday even though it rained steady. Pulled the grill up to deck doors and grilled away! It was a good day. Getting ready for church now - I'll be back early evening....
I keep trying the live feed with no luck. Has anyone else had live feed. Looks like Paula is getting some action with her visit today. I still sure wish we had sound, with it we can always imagine whats going on that we can't see.
One Male, One Female.... who would have predicted that The eldest of our chick is, we believe, a female, the other, a male. They have been given leg rings and names. The female has a white leg ring with the letters AY and the male a white leg ring with the letters AZ. They take their names from the two local primary school. AY is called Nethy and AZ is called Deshar.
HELLO, just a quick hello, then off to fix dinner, beautiful day yesterday, didn't rain til after 9....had some awesome fireworks right in front of the condo. Heard from Ceil today, says she is starting to feel better, they will start to head back home on Monday....
Glad you liked your "Lubby" makeover, Helen. He sure is cute! I love what the FACIAL did for CHRISSY'S friends. And what can I say about Magpie's FACIAL; she is such a spirited girl that each time she gets a FACIAL, the SPIRITS just pop out all over the place!
Well Hello Again everyone, been away for 12 long hours...not all working, had to stop at grocery store. Been catching up on the Blog. I just checked the WildWatch Osprey Cam and find this message interesting: (note plural "YOUNG BIRDS)..."The Osprey cam is experiencing focusing difficulties most likely due to food debris on the lens and we are very limited in our actions until the young birds fledge."
I have thought at least once I saw two little heads, but..who can say, but BIRDS sounds encouraging.
Now, for some fun, to check Wanda's Wishes, Deb's pictures, and then back to here...
Good Evening All, Hope the day has gone well for all. Can't wait to hear from PAULA after her NCTC Nest Visit...
Back from work and nest visit. I didn't get to the nest until 3:45...only got to see juvie for a few minutes before it flew off across the field and towards the river...
When I first when in, I was chatting with the guard for about 10 minutes on the gravel road up to the nest. He told me he saw a juvie yesterday eating something in the field on the left as you drive into NCTC.
I did walk up to the nest....got around the barn....snapped about 6 pics...and away went the Mountaineer. I got video of him/her leaving....and some pics...and that's it! Stayed till around 5:30, but didn't see any other eagles or kids!
COSTUME LADY: All your new things on Wanda's Wishes, are just perfect! Thanks so much for the facial...that is a very dreamy and special facial you gave me...and I love the other new ones (and all the old ones too..) My favorite pics are of you and me together, and of your Mom. Amazing that the Captain could take those in the darkness. I hope someone got a picture of the CAPTAIN! It would be hard to capture his handsomeness..!
To All: You can see a reflection of one of the fireworks "fountains" against the Eagle Express in the shot of Wanda and Me...
and finally: I DO SEE TWO CHICKS AT WILDWATCH OSPREY NEST - AND TWO GRAND ADULTS AS WELL.
I bet everyone is getting ready to watch fireworks right about now. I, and headed for the shower...
GREAT REPORT, PAULA, GOOD FOR YOU. ANY VISIT TO NCTC IS A GOOD ONE...
WANDA - I WOULD LOVE TO BUT AS ONE OF THE DOUBLE-E SISTERS SAID A WEEK OR SO AGO.."I AM SLAM WORE OUT" - My back is bothering, darn it! But Thank you just the same..
And then there were none. Goofy juvies, you're not supposed to fly when it is dark. It looks dark on the cam, but here it doesn't get dark until around 10, so maybe there is still light at the nest.
Missed the visit - was on the phone w/ my Mom. Was feeling so bad yesterday, never called and let them know I wasn't going to my brothers and see her, so she was worried, like a Mom, of course!
Hi All! Been a very busy day for me....no time for the computer! We got out early today to mow and then had to hurry to get ready for a 2:00 wedding. Just got home a little while ago. We partied! Then went to the groom's parents house afterwards to visit. More fun!
Checked the facials, Wanda. I do believe I would like to meet Mits "Jubby". LOL Oh, and I think I want a facial to be passed on to Jack. Woo Woo!
You sure did, Lolly. We just got back home from the Fireworks Display. They were so beautiful. They are set off right across the road from my Mom's and they seem to fall on you. Started to rain just as we left to come home. Really lucked out!
Thanks, Paula, for letting me know that it is still light at 9-ish. It must be the camera angle and spidey's web that makes it seem so dark.
I went through camping gear today to make sure I am ready for vacation next week. I just have to pack clothes and cooler, load it all and I will be ready to take off on Wednesday.
Been up since 5:30, haven't seen any mountaineers, but they were doing some late night flying, so maybe they are sleeping in, like some of the rest of us..or maybe they are chowing down in that field that Paula mentioned...
Off to work; Happy Eagle Watching !! (AND EVERYTHING ELSE-WATCHING.) Safe Travels, all.
HOPE YOU FEEL ALL BETTER SOON PAULA! WE'RE PULLING FOR YOU, AND ALL THOSE NOT FEELING 100%.

Great pics of your party, Wanda!!

Thelma, we'll have to ask Robyn or Jill that question. LOL We haven't heard from Jill in a looong time.
Wanda-what is the address of your blog? I have missed that and I would like to see the picnic pics and the facials.
Thelma, click on my Avatar right above your post...then click on Wanda's Wishes.
thanks wanda-signing off for now, going to roanoke. Hope all is well for my fine eagle momsters

Margy, we are at my Mom's right now. Come on over if your not in bed yet!
Still gulping down throat lozenges and tylenol here...gonna get some dinner...then go thru my pics.
I did take some other pics while I was there - bunny, turtle, heron, bluebird, flowers, bees etc. I'll check them out after dinner.
Eaglet in our nest, at 12 o'clock. Looks like Tiny!
AARRGH ! We don't need a rainbow right now !! But we still have bird in there, and it does NOT look like Tiny !
WANDA - I WOULD LOVE TO BUT AS ONE OF THE DOUBLE-E SISTERS SAID A WEEK OR SO AGO.."I AM SLAM WORE OUT" - My back is bothering, darn it! But Thank you just the same..
Maybe that IS Tiny...PAULA - HELP !
I THINK THERE MIGHT EVEN BE TWO IN THE NEST...MAYBE THEY WILL SEE THE FIREWORKS, WANDA !
Definitely two Hind Ends in that nest.....
There are two juvies in the nest and an osprey in Finny over the water.
Two chimney swifts incubating right now.
As far as I can tell there are still just two little bobbleheads at the swift nest. This angle makes it harder to see in the nest.
Glad you got to see one Mountaineer at the nest, Paula, along with lots of other wild ones.
Osprey gone from finny on the water.
I only see one juvie in our nest now.
And then there were none. Goofy juvies, you're not supposed to fly when it is dark. It looks dark on the cam, but here it doesn't get dark until around 10, so maybe there is still light at the nest.
Back to my Twins game. BBL
Missed the visit - was on the phone w/ my Mom. Was feeling so bad yesterday, never called and let them know I wasn't going to my brothers and see her, so she was worried, like a Mom, of course!
Paula,
Is your mom still in Silver Spring?
Yes she is Hedgie...and brother in Waldorf
Deb - It is still light enough here for them to fly out of the nest at 9ish...
OK folks...need to get horizontal!
Will post pics in the morning...I'm slam wore out too!
Have a good night!

You sure did, Lolly.
We just got back home from the Fireworks Display. They were so beautiful. They are set off right across the road from my Mom's and they seem to fall on you.
