normabyrd said...

WHOA!!---Didn't mean to misspell SNOWY!!----It's 27° here!!! ho!

Suzanne said...

Thanks for the new snow thread, Steven. Stay safe today. Thanks for the heads up, Norma, and good morning to you and Megan!
Can start to see some white in the nest now. Somebody just came in and said there were 8 accidents on the GW Pkwy! He saw 4 of them! Good grief, this is why I don't ddrive down here in snow! VA drivers CANNOT drive in the snow, and they make me a nervous wreck! Wanda, good idea, I may leave early. Looks like it's still snowing on the PA cam.

normabyrd said...

GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!!HELLO SUZANNE---WANDA---CANDY---SHARON & MEGAN!!---It's a COLD SNOWY day in WV---temp. is 27°---Our schools are on a 2 hr. delay--some in WV are closed----SUZANNE---HAPPY TO SEE YOU MADE IT IN!!--Were the roads bad?-----Hope every one is staying warm!!!---Forecasting "SUNNY" SKIES TOMORROW!!!!----LIFE IS GOOD!!---ENJOY THE SNOW!!!!!

Suzanne said...

Awesome eagle in BW. Something in talons.

Suzanne said...

Norma, wasn't doing anything when I came in, roads were totally dry. Brought the cams up, and it started snowing at 4:23 this morning in PA. Been snowing there every since! Doesn't look like any snow yet at BW though.

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING NORMA & MEGAN--
I havn't heard the school buses go by yet, so I am assuming there is a delay or no school.

normabyrd said...

JUST had to check on the 'LITTLE PRINCE'!!----He is sleeping on a snowy log in the SNOW!!----MEI & TIAN are both hanging over a log---sleeping in the SNOW!!--- LOVE THE SNOW BEARS!!!---

Suzanne said...

BW eagle finally eating, not just holding whatever it is.

normabyrd said...

WANDA---No mention of JEFFERSON--MORGAN or BERKELEY!!!-----Will listen!!!--PENDLETON is closed!--HAMPSHIRE still -- 2 hr. delay!!

wvgal_dana said...

Good Snow Weather to All...Candy (earlier), Suzanne, Megan, Wanda, Norma, and Everyone. Yep it is coming down and doesn't look like it will stop for awhile.

Thank you Steven for the new thread.

Our nest is getting white.

normabyrd said...

Can't tell what the BW EAGLE is eating---Did you check the pics of the BW EAGLES they think are mating!!!---ho!---SCREAMING at each other!!!

Suzanne said...

Morning, Dana. Norma, I sent those pics to Lisa, they were cool. Eagle in BW is finished eating whatever it was, but couldn't really tell. Did not look like a fish.

Costume Lady said...

THERE YOU ARE DANA--Been waiting on you. Did you get my message that we did live at 443 Faulkner ave. We just happened to be standing in front of 441. Loved that house. I had the front bedroom with the Bay window. Made me feel like a princess.
THERE ARE A FEW MORE PHOTOS ON MY BLOG OF GENE AT THE COSTUME SHOW IN CHICAGO. CAN'T IMAGE WHAT HE MIGHT FIND IN LAS VEGAS. I WILL HAVE TO KEEP A CLOSER EYE ON HIM THERE. THOSE GIRLS CAN BE WILD!!

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' DANA!!---Our snow is very fine & is melting when it reaches the ground in some places!!

wvgal_dana said...

Yes I did Wanda..Seeing that pic of you in the chair. Really brings memories back of that house. Cause we owed the hold house. Bay window in bedroom right over the covered front porch. But you could see so far.

Little birds feel safe to be in our eagles nest.

Suzanne said...

Wow, whole bunch of little birds in the nest in the snow.

wvgal_dana said...

Norma I went out to get the paper. The road, porches, of course grass, everthing is covered here. I found footprints eekks hee hee they were mine lol

Suzanne said...

BW eagle gone. What are those birds, Dana, do you know? They were there yesterday too, and I blew up the pics, but couldn't tell what they were. Sorta looked like cowbirds, but they're gone now, aren't they?

normabyrd said...

WANDA--You won't have to watch him if you put a pair of BLINDERS on him!!!

floralgirl said...

Yep, only 25° here, and snowing steadily. Think they said we could get 2-4 inches. Ugh, not ready to deal with snow yet. The birds are acting crazy out there. Poor hawk in the tree out back hasn't moved in an hour. Hope he grabs a mouse and not one of my songbirds. Just watched the mockingbird chase away a huge flock of cedar waxwings, how dare they land in his holly tree! Gotta get to work, sooo tired, but the wreath machine is calling... hello to you all, and be careful out there.

Costume Lady said...

Oh, yes, Dana, I could see way down the road from that
bay window. I used to stand there for long periods of time waiting to see Gene in his little yellow chevy convertible come up that little hill. Made my heart sing.

floralgirl said...

Ha, forget blinders, you better get a leash and a stun gun to keep the ladies away! Viva Las Vegas...

Costume Lady said...

NORMA, WHERE CAN I BUY BLINDERS?

Suzanne said...

Yikes, Megan, you stay warm!

Costume Lady said...

Megan, I think you have the right idea.LOL

floralgirl said...

In fact , you better take the eagle cane, those girls are aggressive...later..

Suzanne said...

Snow's getting deeper in PA, and our nest is getting whiter!

normabyrd said...

MEGAN---HAPPY to see you are taking time to "watch the birds"!!!I envy that part of your work!!--Aren't the CEDAR WAXWINGS beautiful?----I don't get too many here!!!

Suzanne said...

Eagle at BW.

normabyrd said...

WANDA---Do you have a SOUTHERN STATES store in your area??--I am sure they sell them!!---ho!

wvgal_dana said...

Suzanne I think those little birds that were in our nest. Were what I call snow birds "Junkos" or a few sparrows.

wvgal_dana said...

I am wandering if the eagles at Cape Coral have laid eggs. You can barely see. Yet watching hard has been movenment in that nest. All yesterday (well when watching) and day before. An eagle was in that nest.

floralgirl said...

Norma, I'm always watching the birds... we get huge flocks of waxwings every year, counted 34 in one flock this morning, they drive the mockingbird nuts, he doesn't want to share his holly berries, what a pig. He has tried to claim my huge pile of cedar and bittersweet and 2 holly trees, he spends all day chasing other birds away from his areas. Such a bully. Ok, wolfed down some breakfast, cant' put it off any longer, gotta go.

wvgal_dana said...

Bundle up Megan Stay Warm..

normabyrd said...

DANA----I didn't see an EAGLE at CAPE CORAL all a.m. yesterday---I wondered too!!---- ALSO couldn't get the ATLANTA cam open yesterday!!---Missed seeing the "LITTLE BEAUTY" !!

wvgal_dana said...

Norma you really really have to watch closely for movenment in that nest. It is deep. If the eagle is laying down you won't see movenment until the eagle stirs. There is an eagle in there now and has been.

wvgal_dana said...

IMMATURE EAGLE JUST FLEW INTO MAINE ON LIMB BEAUTIFUL NOW IN NEST

wvgal_dana said...

Hi young eagle who was probably born in that nest at one time. You make me think of MsInBetween, BigBoy, and Spunky thank you. Hee hee moving some sticks. Flapping wings. lol

Wow another eagle just flew by. Don't know if it is one that belongs to nest mature eagle.

wvgal_dana said...

Immature eagle flew up into tree.

normabyrd said...

GO TO MAINE EAGLE!!!!!----Nest is piled high with SNOW---An EAGLE is on top of the SNOW----"MOVING THE STICKS"-----IT'S THE BEST!!!

wvgal_dana said...

I bet you did Norma ... you always check the little/big/growing bundle of joy out. You just have to closely watch for movement in the Cape Coral nest. It is hard but you'll see the eagle move.

Norma why did you throw that snowball at me??? lol

normabyrd said...

SNOW is coming down in a steady stream now!!---Must call & cancel an appt.---

wvgal_dana said...

Just went to front window and my tracks are all snow covered.

wvgal_dana said...

Did we loose Wanda...I know she needed wood for fireplace. She yell Geneeeeeeeee...bet she is feeding the fire. So it will be nice and warm when Gene gets up. ( :

wvgal_dana said...

Well I sure would like to see 2 eagles fly into the Cape Coral nest about now. That way I would know I've been nuts watching the head move up and down in there. lol

paula eagleholic said...

And snowing it is! ****** Roads are getting slick already!

Morning!!

wvgal_dana said...

Morning Paula..

Well I'm not seeing things. Eagle in nest in Cape Coral. Just got up and turned around. So there is definetly an eagle in the nest at Cape Coral. ( :

Costume Lady said...

OH, NO, DANA. Gene does the fire thingy. I may burn the house down.
We were discussing what kind of blinders to get and Gene said he would rather have the taser used on him. lol Actually, we were discussing the route we will take, because March is a questionable time of year to be taking that trip. We will need to avoid places where it is likely to have snow.

paula eagleholic said...

Eagle at Santa Cruz

paula eagleholic said...

Cool Dana! Good eye on the CC nest!

deb said...

Good Morning,

Dana, you are not nuts, I see the movement in the nest, also. I, also, see that it is cold all over. It is 18 here, no snow today, but it is in the forecast for tomorrow, then snow all weekend.

wvgal_dana said...

WOW I just sent 2 picturs from the BW cam to Lisa. It was not an immature eagle. Lisa thought it might be a immature red tail hawk but the head looks funny Lisa said. So who was it at the BW cam?

normabyrd said...

normabyrd said...

There's a message at ATLANTA this a.m.!!---Trouble with their cam---Guess that's why we couldn't see BUTA BUTA yesterday----

deb said...

Only 1-3", with more freezing rain in the afternoon. Hopefully it will stay cold enough that we won't get more freezing rain. We are just getting rid of the last of the ice from Saturday.

Eagle still at Santa Cruz and now an eagle in Colorado.

wvgal_dana said...

The burrowing owl is out of the burrow!

Suzanne said...

Norma, that's what I'm hoping for! But our big gov't boss just called, and he asked me how long it took to get from 28 to Falls Church. In the AM it usually takes me about 30-35 minutes from Dulles Town Center to our parking garage. So far, it has taken him 3 1/2 hours, and he's not even in to Falls Church YET. NOT looking forward to this ride home! But hope they do clean the Interstates.

Suzanne said...

LOOK AT SQUIGGLES TRYING TO CLIMB!!!!

normabyrd said...

HELEN---He loves this snow!!!---Yesterday he moved his BAMBOO over to his precious GRATE---So he could eat & then nap, etc.---He is SO COOL!!---You'd have to get up early to get ahead of the 'LITTLE PRINCE'---

normabyrd said...

MITS said...

EAGLE just took off at CC.

MITS said...

feeding was just going on at the hummers nest.

deb said...

There has been some work done at Kent, but I never see any eagles there. I took a picture of the nest one day just before dusk and the next morning, there were changes. Isn't it strange that they would work after dark? No changes since yesterday.

normabyrd said...

HELEN---While you were gone--I made the same comment about KENT!!----I thought maybe it was a shadow!!---ho!

Thanks DEB!!---I thought I was nuts!!---GONNA LOOK!

paula eagleholic said...

Maybe George at Kent??

paula eagleholic said...

Has been moving stuff around, I mean.

deb said...

I wondered that, too. There used to be a big stick between the two branches on the right, now it is between the two branches to the left. Would a squirrel do that?

normabyrd said...

OUR NEST looks like the MAINE NEST!!!---Wonder where BELLE & LIBERTY are------

Suzanne said...

Mei and Tian are play fighting in the snow again. Love to watch them, but they sure get rough! Our nest is covered in the snow. 2 bookend eagles in BW. There is waaayyyy too much snow on the PA cam. 2 moosies laying down, and 1 or 2 in the woods. Deer was there a minute ago, but don't see him now.

I'm heading out. Any and all prayers would be appreciated! If this keeps up, do NOT look for me tomorrow!! I will not drive down here in the middle of the night on slick roads. Just hope it stops and the road crews can get the stuff off the roads. But I think it's supposed to be very cold tonight, so whatever melts today will freeze. Not fun.

All have a great eagle/panda day, and stay safe. Stay in if you can!
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!

deb said...

Drive safe!

Mema Jo said...

Frederick county schools closing 2 hrs early - snow still comimg down quite heavily.

IrisF said...

Hi Everyone,
Sorry Glo you are not feeling well, hope whatever it is passes quickly!!

I am stuck in PA at the moment, what on earth is this white STUFF??? Don't know when we will be leaving here for warmer places.

Hi and Welcome Angela and Grandson, this is a great group of "eagle/wildlife" watchers, and they are all very helpful!

Stay warm everyone, and stay in if you can. Suzanne, I am praying you get home safely!!!

Prayers for all who need them, we are so blessed to know each other through our precious eagles.

Mema Jo said...

Iris - How do you like our Snow Birds?

IrisF said...

Well, Mema Jo, some people call Dean and I "Snow Birds" (especially the folks in Florida)Grin

However, it is beautiful - if you don't have to go out. I drove in this today for the first time in years and you know what? You don't forget how...it comes right back to you.

I would guess it has been at least 10 or 15 years since I have driven in snow. It was a little slippery in places, but not too bad.

And, if our nest in WV has to have snow on it, let it be now, not in Feb, Mar or April!!!

Mema Jo said...

Frederick county has recorded 5in of snow...

MITS said...

snowing harder here now than it has all day

paula eagleholic said...

Iris - You better be heading south soon! Looks like a looong winter here!

Gotta go shovel some of that white stuff! (And throw a couple of snowballs for the dogs...hee hee hee)

IrisF said...

Paula, that actually sounds like FUN!! - Well, not the shoveling part, but the snowballs for the dogs sounds like fun!!!

We have about 4 inches here now I think....and it's still snowing.

deb said...

I went to check on the eagles at the dam in Yankton today and WOW! I got to see 22 adult and 5 juvenile eagles, along with thousands of geese, ducks and coots. The most eagles I got in one shot was 6. I also saw 7 deer. The bad part was the ice. No one has sanded the parking lots at the park and it is like an ice skating rink. I was so careful not to fall and I made it all the way back to my pick-up safely. Unfortunately I didn't notice that the running board had iced over and fell from there! What a klutz. I will bring up my pictures tomorrow to see what I got. I am achey tonight.

More snow and ice tomorrow. BOO!

paula eagleholic said...

(((hugs))) Deb!

paula eagleholic said...

That was a beautiful snow, nice and light, easy to shovel. But terrible for snowballs! The dogs found a couple of tennis balls, and the snow clung to those, so I had to throw those instead!

MITS said...

it really is a beautiful snow tonight....just hope it is gone tomorrow:).

Anne-Marie said...

SNOW! WOW..... I was so surprised when I logged in this morning. The nest looks like its full of cottonwood fluff. If I want to see the snow I have to drive up the mountains. All I had today was fog.. I'll be back later, just wanted to check on you guys.. Hugs.

Mema Jo said...

OUCH DEB! I hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly! Just when you thought you had it made - WHAMMY!
Will look for those fantastic pics tomorrow.

Snow was a light fluffy one! You could sweep the deck with the broom- you didn't need to shovel. Scar (cat) went diving into the snow - running - and did a nose dive off the deck stairs! lol

MITS said...

Hey, Deb, be careful out there.

paula eagleholic said...

Planned to go to my Mom's today and plant some more flower bulbs. Needless to say, didn't do that.
Had a nice visit.

GOOD NIGHT TO EVERYONE
SLEEP WARM & WELL

I had to go out to work earlier. King Street here was awful. Tried to onto my street, car went opposite way towards a pole. Got it turned back and it headed for teh sidewalk on the other side. Got it back in line but too late to make the turn. Had to go up a block and turn in. There was an officer following me, when he pulled up out here he yelled at me for scaring him. HELLO, I was the one looking at the pole. LOL. Hopefully the idiots will stay in the rest of the night. If not I will be riding in a cruiser.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE/SAFE AND WARM TOMORROW TO SUZANNE AND THE EARLY CREW...

Boy, I like the snow and everything (for a visit), but whenever I visit in winter back in Minnesota and I am in town crossing streets, I spend more time on my shoulders and backside than I do on my feet!!

Never did get the hang of that flat footed walk ... for very long.

Have a good time, safe time.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE--
SUZ said she wouldn't come into work today if the roads were bad; and we know they are. Hope she enjoys her day off.
No visitors in our nest, but it is still early and COLD. 15°...no wind.

ZZ Bear is alone in the den. Mom just left a few minutes ago. ZZ is lying on her back and playing with her feet. It's one of my joys of the day, to watch her play. I can't imagine what it would be like if there was a twin. That would be soooo cute. Romping and playing together.

There was a beautiful 6 point Buck in Pa. rooting around in the snow for some juicy morsels.
