Thanksgiving

Turkey Day thread.

Steve has been watching our eagles closely and decided to set up the exclusion area around the nest because of all of the nest activity. A good sign.

When I first checked the cams this am I had eagle couples in CapeCoral & on the BW platform-6 otters close up all snuggled together-lots of moose-owls in CA-sloth bears out in the yard-DC pandas and CA Squiggles sleeping...
and the Sun is shinning on this turkey day! Even though there is a chance of showers it certainly won't dampen any of our spirits!
NOW for the last minute preparations!
I'll be checking in much later today to see how much you have indulged yourselves with all the goodies on the tables!
Have a blessed day as always

wvgal_dana said...

Wow you should see this float with a eagle on it. Painted gold beautiful. Winds spread upward.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Dana, Justin came running up here to tell me to look at the eagle. He was so excited. It was beautiful.

Good Morning all. Its break time from the kitchen. The sky is a clean blue, its brisk, cool and the squirrels and birds are fighting over the grapes and bird seed. I have so much to be thankful for . I may not have a partner but God spared nothing giving me such a beautiful , close family. As tradition, we will take the little ones to watch the salmon climb up the latter's while the turkey and ham cook. Everything is done but the setting of the tables and I just wanted to touch base and say how blessed I am to have found such loving and good people on this sight. You made my vacation and trip a memory to remember for the rest of my life. God Bless. .

paula eagleholic said...

Awww, missed the eagle float...was getting Mr Tom into the oven....side dishes almost done...taking a quick break...

They are just hanging out, side by side in the nest. So beautiful!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

The way their heads are moving in synch, I think something must be flying nearby.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This is so awesome. I just got home from eating Thanksgiving Dinner at my Sissy's and feeling pretty sad, and lo and behold, Liberty and Belle were here to greet me!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And then there was one!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh my, the sun is shining on the sycamore tree!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Looks like Liberty is still there, sitting right in the middle of the nest, just scoping out the scene.

glo said...

Hi Sharon I am at work, I have been enjoying the show for over an hour but first chance I had to BLOG anything. Just a special gift for Thanksgiving I would say. (((((hugs)))))

glo said...

The first picture I took was of Lib in the nest at 3:01, not sure though if he was there any earlier as that was first chance I had to turn on the cam...well my shift started at 2 my time so see took me one Minute...and this is a slow computer :)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

So, so far, this has been at least an hour and 20 minute visit!

glo said...

Well I don't think he's watching a football game, but he is fairly content yet busy watching something.

glo said...

Maybe Belle has foudn anotehr choice limb down there and he is the cheering section. "Come on baby , you can do it...hoist that thing on up here!"

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

That is probably exactly what he is doing1

glo said...

LOL well if by chance we are even close to right...that is gonna be one perturbed bird when she gets that limb up there. If I were Lib at that point I would be thinking Duck!!!!

glo said...

OK Mister you got a little "splainin" to do. LOL

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And both are gone again. What a nice long visit!

glo said...

Yep it was awesome. Back to work now :(...although I actually did end up with a crisis call so have already been working. TTYL

Glad our couple made a visit today. What a nice treat for Sharon and Glo.

My turkey day is closing and it has been a beautiful time spent with family. I received a special blessing from my NY couple when Christine told us that there would be a new great grand baby come May 2008. They are so happy and have given all the family an answer to prayers - she is such a great little mother - Samantha is living proof of that!
I am happy for Glo & Sharon to have
witnessed our couple's long visit to the nest this early evening.
Good Night to all
Peace to you & yours
Prayers being said for all your needs..

Costume Lady said...

This glorious day is almost over. I am so thankful that we had our WHOLE family together today, with the exception of my oldest grandson, who is on a cruise (poor baby). He did call us from the ship and his Dad accepted the charges for the call. ANNE-MARIE, what do you suppose that cost?
My Mom got results from her CT Scan yesterday and, once again, she is Cancer-Free! Oh, so much to be thankful for!

I hope that you all had a wonderful day with your family and friends and that you didn't eat too much. LOL
Tomorrow, Paula, Candy and I will be having STUFFING SANDWICHES--RIGHT GIRLS?
GOOD NIGHT TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL FRIENDS...GOD BLESS YOU.

Thanks Wanda! Both eagles now.

Both are there now....

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning Sharon

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING LADIES.

wvgal_dana said...

Unless they change the cam angle. Which they proabably won't. When the nestlings change to eaglets. When they are moving around in nest. The 12 o'clock position will be feeties.

Costume Lady said...

You are right Dana. The angle does need to be changed. Maybe they will change it. They also like to watch.

wvgal_dana said...

Looks like Liberty and Belle are just hanging out. Mostly having a family discussion. Maybe talking over "future plans" ( :

Costume Lady said...

Do I see Feeties?

wvgal_dana said...

Yep you DO Wanda.....Liberty has been at the 12 o'clock position all this time hee hee

wvgal_dana said...

That is where Dad taught Spunky to hang out at. Well Spunky could have just been imiatiating his DAD. lol

Costume Lady said...

The Feeties havn't moved, so I wasn't sure. Thought it might be leaves. They are wasting time just standing there! But, then again, maybe they are happy with the nest as it is.

wvgal_dana said...

Wanda it's like you and Gene sitting around the kitchen table. Drinking coffee making plan.
Well they just sit in the nest making their plans.

Costume Lady said...

How could you all tell the 3 eaglets apart?

wvgal_dana said...

When it gets closer you'll see them working more on the "nest cup area". Wiggling down into it. Making the fix just right. ( :

Costume Lady said...

Dana, you are so funny!

wvgal_dana said...

As we watched day in and day out from the 1st hatched. How they grew..their feeding behaviors...their feathers...and size etc.

wvgal_dana said...

Think Liberty left can't see feeties. Not 100% sure but 99.9999% sure ( :

Costume Lady said...

How was your Thanksgiving Dana? Do you do all the cooking?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And as long as we could see them all 3 together we could tell them apart. It got harder once they fledged and one would come back in at a time.

Costume Lady said...

I am so anxious for Egg Laying time so I can watch it all from the begining.

wvgal_dana said...

That was for sure Sharon. We would really work back and forth on comments. Trying to figure them out ( :

No Wanda my Mom only has so much time on that day. So we take her out. Then take her were she needs to drop food off.

Costume Lady said...

Sharon, from reading the comments from time to time about the 3 eaglets, you all were really in love with them.

Costume Lady said...

That is how I felt about LuLu. She was the first baby that I saw on here. Remember her Sharon?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Oh my, Wanda, we absolutely were. It was such a wonderful time watching them hatch and grow and fledge and come back! Miracle of modern technology.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

LuLu? No, don't remember. Refresh my mind, would ya?

wvgal_dana said...

Those eaglets became our children. We worried over them getting too close to the edge, if they got enough food, if they were warm enough, if the smallest would not be hurt by the other 2 and then when fledging came..lol Would Spunky ever fledging. He fooled us and did alot of "branching". Which was not fledging Spunky lol.....the vote came???? "When/what day would Spunky fledge?" Love them we adored them. They still hold a place in each one of our HEARTS to this day ( : ( :

wvgal_dana said...

Belle left empty nest

wvgal_dana said...

Ok I'm going to snuggle in my blankets and read for awhile. See you ladies later.

wvgal_dana said...

Ooopps before I leave

Sharon Wanda is probably talking about the one and only that you named "Buta Buta". hee hee

Costume Lady said...

We always have Thanksgiving dinner at my Moms. She isn't able to cook a big dinner anymore, so for many years now, I do the cooking at my house and take everything to her place. My daughters also bring veggies and desserts.
My Mom does the mashed potatoes and bakes pumpkin pies.
One year, our girls went to their In-Laws for dinner, so we took Mom to the Hillside Inn and although we had reservations, had to wait in line for 45 mins. They had advertised Fried Cajun Turkey. By the time we were seated, the turkey was all gone. They ran out of alot of things. It was a disaster. Gene raised such a fuss to the management, that they didn't charge us for the meal.

Costume Lady said...

LuLu was the baby Loon. Maybe you didn't watch that site. She was adorable. She would crawl all over her Mom and hide under her and then jump out and run all around the nest.

Costume Lady said...

Don't you remember her, Dana? Does anyone remember her? Oh, and that is the nest that had an egg in that wouldn't hatch and they x-rayed it an concluded that the cold water that got on it when the nest tipped over from a passing eagle, terminated the growing process.

Costume Lady said...

OK,the Capt. just got up. Going to have COFFEE with him. Enjoy your day. TTYL

wvgal_dana said...

Sorry Sharon that is who I thought Wanda mean't. LuLun the baby Loon. No Wanda I can't say I watched that nest. Guess I was too involved with our eagle nest. Sorry Wanda. Maybe someone else will.

Hi Gene...

Ok going to snuggle and read awhile.
