Good Morning Everyone, God sure is smiling down on us this beautiful Sunday morning. From Sharon's post the kids have been well fed this morning and hopefully they are drying out from the storms..lol Thanks for the info Steve, cant wait and i hope many show up, always nice to meet people who you corresponde online with. Guess i better look my best who knows someone might take a group picture and put it on here...smiles Oh Sharon i wish you could have attended and go along over to NCTC on Monday you have been such a great mom to these Eagles keeping us informed when we couldnt be here. Anyone who missed it Steve will be giving us a personal look at the tree and nest on Monday at 10 AM . He said asked at guard building for info. Well have a safe and wonderful Sunday, Nilla PS Any question's on directions please asked or go to NCTC web site for directions. Best way to put it is if your coming from Sharpsburg, Md AFTER you go over the bridge its the first turn on the right. Coming from Martinsburg its the turn on left BEFORE crossing the bridge. You will see sign's for NCTC. Road is in behind the Barvarian Resturant.

Has anyone actually seen that spunky DID get some food. When I saw a parent arrive a couple of hours ago, the two older ones and she were eating and spunky had at least moved from the edge of the nest back towards the limb. Man I sure wish we could actually see that little one getting some food!!!

Mema Jo said...

11:29am Jo-MD I am headed out for about 4 hrs - I expect to see lots of details when I get back on the blog.
Spunky is a skinny little one - his legs crack me up when he starts flapping!
Nilla - it is still up in the air about my being able to be there tomorrow morning! I'll be crying my heart out if I can't get my schedule changed! Do you think a good reason to cancel a medical appointment is if you call in sick?????

NillaWafer said...

Oh Jo im laughing so hard here..LMAO Hmmm do they have acure for "Eagleitis" LOL Just think you will go and set in the office for along time before being seen, your nerves will be on edge thinking about us over there and then your blood pressure will go up, sooo yuppers like Bob Barker says "COME ON DOWN" roflmao!! They sure still look drenched from the rain, sure miss the live cam!!

Two questions, Steve:
When the adults and babies of the tribe gather, as in this pic, do they sound off like crazy, or are they fairly quiet??

That leads to the next question: What are the chances of getting a sound track on the nest next year??

UMMMM Hello ...Do you read me at all? Feels a whole lot like yesterday. I post but get no response. I would love to be making plans to come too, but I can't get there. If anyone reads this, would you please tell me if and when you last actually saw little one eat.

Thanks so much

Glo

Sorry Glo, i have been alittle busy here at work, but Sharon said they got fed. With this still cam 30 second delay its really hard to tell anything. Big Boy is perched almost outside the nest on the very edge.. hope he is holding on really good. They also look like they are trying to dry out from the harsh rain storm we had. I only hope Big Boy is perched out that far tomarrow, will give us a really good look at him/her. Wish everyone could be here..sad

NillaWafer said...

Movin if they are anything like the falcons in Harrisburg when the parents arrive man all squawks breaks loose..lol I was wondering that myself if maybe next year they could have sound? But since i have been over there and seen the nest and location of it, might be hard to do that. But we all can hope. Any chance of you joining us tomarrow morning at 10 am at NCTC?

glo said...

Thanks Nilla. True she did mention they even had brunch. I just felt so concerned when I saw Mom and the bigger two eating at the end the little guy spent the whole day at yesterday, and "little guy guess you all call him spunky now...back by the trunk not with them eating. yes the 30 secs delay does add even more suspense. Thanks for reading and posting your thoughts about this. I want to see him beak to beak with a parent on one of the captures LOL... Then I'll know that I know I guess. Sigh. Tomorrow is back to work for me, so not much opportunity to see live cam if it is up until tomorrow night. I bet though at some point there is going to be some pretty fun and exciting notes about the day!!!

I'm sure there is some vocaliztion, but I can't really answer the question. I have not heard them when in closer proximity to the tree.

We have discussed getting audio, so we'll see what we can up with next season.

Jo--when I said we would have to watch reruns, when OUR babies soared, I meant watching reruns of the eaglets----my teacher, daughter gave me this web-site before the 3rd egg appeared & I have been ADDICTED ever since------I am a birder, but have never seen anything to compare with with these majestic birds----have watched with awe as the parents lovingly care & protect them----What great parents!!!!! Life IS GOOD----I am going to be soooooooooo jealous tomorrow-----what an opportunity----Take notes-------maybe we could visit another time????

Is bird girl here today? I was just reading some old posts and saw your request for some links. Here's Blackwater. Their eaglets have fledged so you won't see much of them. But there's also an osprey cam with 4 chicks.

Harrisburg Peregrine falcons are here: http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/falcon/

Hi Sunny was wondering where you was..lol Your coming tomarrow right? I am going to bring an extra pair of binoculars for anyone who doesnt have them..Maybe we could do lunch after and chat Ya'll ?? The kids just seem to be lazy today guess they are to wet and drying out. The falcon's in Harrisburg sure have growen and alllll over that ledge, flappin wings, screez me .. And noisy little critters. Ok back to work

Hi Nilla. Not feeling great today, so we're having a lazy day. I haven't been on the computer much. I plan to be there tomorrow. I have binoculars in the car, and I'll have my camera, too. Never leave home without it! Looking forward to meeting everyone. I'm just sorry the whole gang can't be there. Ya know, if Sharon left tonight.......

Thanks, Steve.
I recall seeing a nature flick on Bald Eagles in Alaska mucho years ago, and I remember the adults tend to make a lot of loud calls among themselves ... do not remember how they are in the nest or with the young though.

I think it would add a lot to the experience if the nest were wired for sound.

Movin, check out the Canadian eaglet site I posted above. It has sound! THe babies do make some noise when food arrives, but they're not nearly as noisy as those little falcon fellers!

NillaWafer said...

I really dont think Sharon can make it she is so far away, But she sure has been a great asset to the blogs keeping us informed to the nest behavior when we arent here. Even she and everyone will be with us in spirit as they said.. smiles. But would be great if she surpised us.. Those little falcon's sure do give us some thrills getting close to the edge..lol I love watching them spread their wings and hop across the ledge now, so cute. They each have developed there own personalities, cute is seeing one feeding the other, they seem to be sharing sometimes..lol I checked the weather is going to be cool in the AM so i would wear long pants, as maybe we will be walking thru some tall weeds. Oh im so excited!!! Have afeeling there will be ALOT of blogs tomarrow to read. Wish everyone could make it.

Maryland eaglets' hacking box in Vermont will now be opened on June 5. Watch it on their cams.
I found this info on the beak speak site, lol something else to keep me from working...

4:27pm Jo-MD I have returned:I was attending the baby shower of my soon to be 5th great-grandbaby!
As for links to other cams: I still use the one Steve gave us from the very beginning-I have a shortcut on my desktop- Just click it on & I can see any type of bird anywhere in the world
beakspeak.com
Now about tomorrow: ok Ang-I'll call in sick! My daughter who also watches the cam & is an ardent bird watcher is going to try to come with me. Since her boss watches the eagle cam she doesn't think she'll have a problem. NILLA: I'm wearing jeans & sneakers & a special T-Shirt for the photo! I'm not getting all gussied-up! If you plan to go to lunch, maybe you could go to the StoneSoupBistro at 112 W.German St. Maybe Steve would even be free to come along...Just an idea.

NillaWafer said...

Oooops i found that on Blackwater site, musta had a redhead moment..lol Watching all these site i get confused. "OUR" kids have dryed out and just being lazy, perching hard to tell whats really going on without live cam to look at. Falcons are asleep right now, funny little critters. LMAO i knew it Jo, you could always tell the doctor you got a case of the bird flew...LMAO Great look forward to meeting everyone and lunch sounds great!!! Dont worry not gettin all gussied up neither but bring a jacket suppose to be chilly with a chance of rain. Congrats on the new grandbaby coming, i only have 1 grandson and he is going on 17 and driving.. I hate to think about it i have a birthday coming up July1st 59 i just like to think of it as having being 30 with 29 years of experiance..lol

Hello everybody. I have been out most of the afternoon and haven't been able to blog. I am still not going to be able to make it tomorrow so you all have to let us know how it went when you get back. Although, I have no doubt you will. This is very exciting and really wish I could join in. I will be watching from here though and will definitely be with you in spirit. I want to thank everybody for their wonderful comments. It makes me feel really good. These three eaglets have so many mothers and maybe fathers (Jim) out there pulling for them. I love to be a part of this!!

I certainly am very envious of those of you that will get to see this nest and babies tomorrow! I live near Danville Ilinois but I have been watching from the very start of this 2006 family! Just know that there are others just dying to be a part but can't!

I so wish I could join you all tomorrow for your visit to the "nursery.! I was born in Winchester, raised in Martinsburg, took piano lessons in Shepherdstown, and had a couple of doctors in Hagerstown. I know the area like the back of my hand. Circumstances were such that I had to move to Florida a few years ago. I've been a faithful blog reader, and so envy your closeness to the nest. Maybe next class reunion I attend I'll be able to visit. Enjoy your day with the babies. I'm so jealous!!

Mema Jo said...

9:17pm Jo-MD Vicky & GLO You both are in IL. I wonder how close???

Make sure you all take lots of pics, want to see them up close! Have a wonderful visit, sorry I can't join you, would love to, as I have been watching these guys since they were eggs also. Have fun and enjoy!

JIM, THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAM YESTERDAY DUE TO A BIG WIND STORM THE NIGHT BEFORE, I CHECKED YESTERDAY AND TODAY AND EVERYTHING LOOKS PEACEFUL AND CALM. IT'S A GREAT SIGHT, WITH THE AUDIO, AND CLOSE UP VIDEO, YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN THE NEST. EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT TIME TOMORROW, I'LL SAY A PRAYER, THAT MAYBE ONE WILL TAKE OFF FOR A 1ST FLIGHT WHILE YOU ARE THERE. HAPPY EAGLE WATCHING.:) MITS

Thanks for the links, sunny. I bookmarked them! I was out at my rescue group's base of operations (the Director's house) all day today, we have Federal and State inspectors coming tomorrow {biting nails} so we had some last minute things to take care of.

Someday, we hope to have some live or still cams on some of our more colorful residents: Robert, a Great Horned Owl and Lenore, a common Raven (yes, the name is on purpose!). Both are fun to watch in person, and it would be neat to watch them from anywhere!

Being that I'm in Phoenix, I REALLY can't make it to NCTC. Maybe someday. I'd also love to see The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN.

By the way, a few years ago I was in Charlotte, NC; I went to the Carolina Raptor center and LOVED IT! They are set up in a woods, and the birds all have large aviaries so it's like they're out where they're meant to be. The center has a white-morph red tailed hawk, too, which is just about the coolest thing to see!

6:35 a.m. Monday morning. I just see two eaglets in the nest this morning. Hopefully the other is hiding under the camera. I hope everybody has a great time today and gets to see the babies while they are there!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

6:37 a.m. There he is. All 3 present and accounted for.

Mema Jo said...

7:28am Jo-MD Good Morning. Hopefully the live feed will be up around 11am. I, too, see all 3 now. Take care & I'll be in touch - I just pray that at 10am they all don't decide to take a nap!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

My question to all of you meeting at NCTC this morning - How are you going to be able to leave once you get there? I would have a hard time walking away, just waiting for that fledge to happen. It would probably drive me nuts. I will be thinking of you all at 10 a.m. and watching for any sight of you on the camera. I wish the live feed would be up by then.

Mema Jo said...

8:16am Jo-MD Sharon, BigBoy looks a bit determined this morning as he flits all over the nest! You may see the first flight before any of us since we'll be driving to NCTC & it could just happen during that time! I have a strange feelling that today could be the day! Keep watching & we'll be anxious to see your comments upon our return! Sure will be thinking about ya!

Mema Jo said...

8:28am Jo-MD ok? as I was publishing my last comment & went back to the cam - Where did he go? Is he under the camera with MsInbetween? Did you see where he went, Sharon? I think I see him...

I am heart broken I can't be with you all this a.m.----REMEMBER you are representing all of us eaglet watchers who can't be there-----so please think of us and take notes-----will be there in spirit----!!!!

8:40am Jo-MD BigBoy is there! Believe me- that Sycamore tree is going to be so full of the EagleMom's spirits - the leaves will be speaking for all of you!
