We're still waiting for something to happen and the eaglet is sleeping. Guess we're on his/her time.

3:35pm It was a very exciting morning - we really thought Spunky was going to 'do it'. As long as he is still being fed and has night time company, he may wait a day or two. Most of the group wants Spunky to fly tomorrow as it is FLAG DAY !

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

And that is the day I voted for on the Yahoo poll! He is looking around again, and flapping those wings. He is at the launch pad again.

Mema Jo said...

3:39PM He is at the PAD........Teasing??? Get ready, Sharon

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am ready JO!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I think he just likes hearing us sing to him.

Mema Jo said...

3:43pm Hey Guys! Ready or not, here I come..................... Go! Spunky! Go!
Hey! Get back on that launch pad!!!
Come on - no hiding! Sun is bright - wind's just right!
Where is Spunky? la, la, la, la..
TOMORROW -------------.......

Mema Jo said...

Whoops - watch him go by mistakingly missing the launch pad...

I think I can....I think I can....

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

He looks so serene. I wish I could see what he sees!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

LIVE FEED IS GONE AGAIN. STEVE - HELP!!

Anonymous said...

mine is still on.....

Anonymous said...

correction, mine is gone....

paula eagleholic said...

Quick check from Dad, 'C'mon buddy, let's go!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I was just looking at the ospray cam in CT, it looked something was trying to attack the momma or the babies, she was flopping all over her eggs and babies. I don't how she kept from crushing both. That was way too intense. See, need the live feed back where the serenity is!!

Mema Jo said...

4:09pm 2 in the nest with adult

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Live feed goes down and all the babies are back together.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I emailed Steve. Hopefully we will get it back up soon.

Mema Jo said...

4:11pm Maybe they will take Spunky out to eat!

Anonymous said...

Quite a crowd in the nest....Sharon the osprey Mom has been anxious all day. Poor thing has not had any rest.

Anonymous said...

TWO visitors! A real tea party. When are the snacks being flown in?

paula eagleholic said...

Errr, maybe that was, don't go yet, Mom's bringing lupper!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Too funny, Paula!!

That osprey is pitiful. I am glad we haven't had to go through any of that. I probably would have bailed early on with that!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Live feed is back!! Thanks so very much.

paula eagleholic said...

Parent gone, all siblings together again!

paula eagleholic said...

Poor mama osprey, looks like she may be getting some rest now.

Mema Jo said...

4:24pm Love the way Inbetween claims the food...... What in the world is it - it is sooooooooooooo large. She drug it the entire way across the nest. Even left skid marks..... Whoa!

Anonymous said...

I saw that. Mom brought it in and she jumped on it spread-eagle and laid on it awhile, then dragged it over to the trunk. Whatever it was I think she smothered it first. Good think we don't have audio...

paula eagleholic said...

I think the remaining visitor is Ms Inbetween, cause she is eating all the snacks!

Anonymous said...

Whatever it was, Spunky doesn't seem interested.

Mema Jo said...

4:32pm Spunky is so totaly not interested. Inbetween will be there all evening munching down on whatever. Live feed wasn't on so I can't back up to get a better look at the dinner.

Anonymous said...

she hasn't come up for air, must be real tasty.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Spunkster is watching something overhead. I was watching the rewind of when the sibling flew off a few minutes ago, you could see their heads going around and then around the tree limb and then you could see the shadow on the right side of the nest, just like it made a complete circle.

Anonymous said...

Mom osprey is feed ing the chick right now. sooo cute.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

It must not be carp then!

Anonymous said...

Dad is there too. Keeping a good look-out. Definitely fish for dinner.....

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

How many eggs in the osprey nest. Will anymore hatch. The baby looks pretty big to be having siblings yet to hatch.

glo said...

From what I saw with the mantling and then quick scarf it up and drag it away...Ms In Between is definitely one strong determined eagle...I think she will be doing just fine in her eagle world!!!!

paula eagleholic said...

I think there is 2 more eggs to hatch, Sharon.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I really was afraid Momma Osprey had done something to the baby or eggs today. She was rolling all over them. Guess she knows what she is doing and I certainly do not!

paula eagleholic said...

It is a whopper of a fish! Ms Inbetween is really tackling it!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Ms. InBetween probably has the strongest personality of the 3, I think.

paula eagleholic said...

Spunky wants some now, but I think she just told him to back off!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

That one little osprey baby sure is eating a lot of fish! That is so cute, you are right.

Whatever InBetween is eating, is really huge (or was). Spunky thought about it but I guess he thought he would just wait on leftovers. Not worth the fight!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Spunky looks like he is airing out his arm pits!

paula eagleholic said...

Amazing how the osprey and the eagles are so delicate in feeding the babies...really neat to watch for sure.

Anonymous said...

Sharon there does look like 2 or 3 more eggs, but I agree with you, it might be too late. I've left some msgs for Bird Girl on this site today, I was hoping she would stop by for a visit, she is the one who got me turned on to this site and she seems to know alot about birds. GO SPUNKY! Get in there and get something to eat. Has he eaten at all today??

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Okay, WV Gal, that is a little elusive. Now I am curious about what you are speaking about. I am thinking Robert C. but probably not right! I am definitely a proud West Virginia, proud eaglet momster and proud American!! Yeah.

Anonymous said...

WOW! West Va Gal knows people in high places, I'm impressed.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Mits, I really can't recall but I think he has eaten today.

Anonymous said...

beautiful scene of mom and dad osprey feeding baby. mom is throwing it down like she is coaxing little on to take some steps over to the food.

paula eagleholic said...

Big Boy back now, eyeing up that whopper fish.

Anonymous said...

Sharon maybe he is eating light today, to gear up for tomorrow...

Anonymous said...

Hope she is planning on spending the night, she ate so much, she may sink like a rock if she trys to fly.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Ma and Pa need to bring a couple more fish in.

Mema Jo said...

5:20 WV Gal - only one famous Byrd family I know of in your neck of the woods........ WOW...

glo said...

Well Sharon unless you get it on FRAPS if anything happens today, It won't happen, I think its my real player. i will re download it after dark tonight. For now I am going to try to just watch it while I can see it. Take good notes all.

Just came online--------burst out laughing when I saw all the "little ones "in the nest----NO PLACE LIKE HOME----why leave, looks like mom/dad are keeping them feed----and they know to get them to leave: WITHHOLD THE FOOD-----It's COOL to see them altogether!!!! Spunky is just not ready for this cold, cruel world yet---

Mema Jo said...

5:41pm No hurry, Angie. Hope your day at work went extra fast for you.
Some exciting moments here, but nothing new to report on Spunky's journey that didn't yet take place.

Anonymous said...

You just knew Mom/Dad was coming, you can follow there heads as they watch for the landing.

Mema Jo said...

5:44pm Come on, Inbetween, just show me how to get started. Something is up there..... Yep! Adult buzzed in!

Mema Jo said...

Inbetween is going to be Too fat to fly! She looks 3 times the size of Spunky. I wouln't tackle her for the food either.

Mema Jo said...

Wouldn't it be great for Inbetween to turn & offer Spunky a mouthful? She should have some motheerly instincts. But then if Spunky isn't hungry = why would there be a take off tomorrow? Looks as though Spunky's nerve is getting up to snatch some. Whoops, gotta move away from this young kid!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Okay everybody, going out until around 9 p.m. Keep good notes for me! Don't think we will have a fledge this evening. If anybody else has Fraps, keep it handy.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Looks like they are having a pow-wow about how it is done!

Mema Jo said...

WV GAL Thank you for allowing us to be part of what you have accomplished. Sen Byrd has given so much during his time in government - I, for one & probably speaking for all the Eaglet Momsters, am proud for him to have the knowledge of what we have been able to avail ourselves through the excellent endeavors of NCTC/FWS facilities. This is an honor to say the least.
Thanks again from a Marylander!

glo said...

Well at this rate Spunky definitely won't be building up his strength to fly. Well he won't be overweight either, and he has to be getting hungry!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Just checking in for a minute. I knew it had to be Senator Byrd. I am so proud of this entire adventure we have been on. Definitely proud to be a West Virginia!!

Anonymous said...

I've tried to get on the blog forever. NCTC EAGLE LOVER since January. I was wondering, is Spunky getting any of Mom's meals? Looks like the older kids are eating it all, Been worried?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

WV Gal, it is on the previous blog for today

Anonymous said...

new thread is up.... steve has a great picture of something different...

Just read the great news----we have been recognized by SENATOR ROBERT C. BYRD-----He is West Virginia's "BYRD"----He has now served in the Senate longer than any other Senator in the history of the Senate!!!! He is running for another term----

REMEMBER TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER-----

4/25/24 both/resident crows
