Well, back to Animal Farm. We are letting tiny kitty out of it's room to explore. Big kitty started out by hissing a lot, but now is watching it like a hawk. No violence yet, but I'm on guard w/water squirter!

We have them here, but they tend to stay in the woods, last year we had one who would come up into the yard for birdeed. They are really fast.

Well, I think MEMA JO is luxuriating on this fabulous BIRTHDAY DAY with family, friends, probably WEBCAM, Grilled Chicken, and GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE !!

I made a short side trip to the Fish Hatchery in Leetown today, on the way saw beautiful yellow fields of Soy Beans, and once there, a few final fading GoldenRod, New York Asters, Mistflower, and a few Touch-Me-Not. Also, two fabulous and big Belted Kingfishers, and the PRIZE: ONE OSPREY !!
I sure hate to "call it a night" before JO gets on here with her BIRTHDAY REPORT but I gotta get some sleep before going back in at midnight.
There was a crook on every corner from looking at the calls I reviewed from the week-end.
Hope all is well in all the Eagle corners...

Hi Dana! Yeah, we're about ready. Tonight we should be ready, then tomorrow is taking care of last minute things....like taking the Annie the Mad Cat to "camp", watering really well all the pots, that kind of thing. Then Tuesday we are off early!
Loretta because today is football we are eating polish sausage on buns.

My daughter from Austin is on way home from Amsterdam. She just called from Atlanta and got us blue tulip bulbs.Last time she got some, my blue ones never came up & hers had leaves & no flowers.So we're gonna try again.She thinks weather too hot there for much to grow & all her azaleas are dead.(they had a little help from the armadillos!)

Loretta Did your daughter put the tulip bulbs in the refrigerator? I put my tulip bulbs in the refrigerator until mid to late December and then plant them. I plant all red. Blue would be beautiful!
We have sent two armadillos to armadillo heaven this year. One is still digging occaionally. However, in the fall, winter and spring they are usually gone. ???? They just like my yard when it is hot and I am watering.
They have been digging up my daffodil bulbs which stay in the ground all year. Drat!!!!!
WOW Glo Jo's birthday cake is beautiful that our 3 immature eagle kids made. I sure know who I want to bake my birthday cake now!!

noon and the last of the family just left! Going to do my best to be here next year to see 70 and do this all over again!

It was probably in the high 70s here today, just beautiful. I think it is supposed to get to 80 tomorrow. I love it. It can stay like this till March and warm up for all I care!!
Pierre was cold and wet all weekend, but at least we didn't get the snow they did in the Black Hills. I heard that parts of Montana got over 2 feet of snow. I am not sure how much the Hills got, haven't seen any news.
I hope it stays warm for next weekend!

Watching the cub move around is highly entertaining. Sometimes it seems as if he's never going to get where he is trying to go and then in the blink of an eye, he has done it! It is amazing how quickly he has gotten the hang of some basic movements. Thinking back, Mei Lan seemed to gain the use of her front limbs first, pulling herself around on her forearms; it seemed to take a while for her to get her rear legs underneath her. However, this little guy has done the opposite. He pushes off with his back legs to move forward or to turn himself in a circle. It seems an insignificant comparison, but it is another reminder that each living thing is different, which this cub has certainly been from the beginning. It is exciting to watch him grow and develop into an individual. Speaking of growing, the cub has gained another 58.5 grams, weighing in at 1693.5 grams (3.4 pounds) yesterday.

We skipped Billy Goat Jump. It was raining so hard and the road was muddy. All three of us voted to just take our time on the way home. It took us 8 hours for a 4 hour trip, but it was a nice drive and we were dry!

Did anyone hear about the manatee rescued off the Massachusetts coast? Being flown "home" to FL...first to Marine World and then to be released.
When Mom lived in Fl. she was close to the Indian River where a nuclear power plant was...the manatee were so attracted to the warm discharge things there, and they really enforced a super slow boat speed because there were so many injuries done by propellers.
Just heard gas is 2.93 in Fredericksburg, VA...that's a rich area....lucky them!

OMG - there was an adult Eewwiiee in my Mom's neighborhood, partaking of the road kill.
