Helen, I feel great this morning. Had quite a bit of pain in right side and back Saturday night...thought of a Kidney Stone. Never had one before, so I don't know what it was. My appendix is gone, so it wasn't that. Just a nasty 24hr bug.
DAVE, good to see you back and enjoying your retirement. Do you miss working at all? I missed the comradiere when I retired. Then I got in with this group and got all the friends anyone could want.
Thanks PAULA!---I sometimes wish we had #s painted on our EAGLES!! but I still like to think that one of those EAGLES STEVE saw could be SPUNKY!!!-----ho!

MEGAN---Wait until you are a grandmother like I am-----THEN it is next to impossible to keep up with what the kids are using--wearing, etc.----Some times they just ROLL THEIR EYES---I know then 'GRANNY ISN'T COOL TODAY!!! ho!!
Golly Norma, I had breakfast hours ago. I'm an early riser. I usually have sausage and biscuits but have gained a few pounds, so its Special K for a while.
Monday, October 6 Peering, a tad voyeuristically, at a bank of monitors while Lun Lun and her cub live their lives, I am prone to ponderings. Sometimes these musings are serious reflections on the common threads woven throughout nature. Or, noticing the commonalities of mother-offspring interactions regardless of species, while at the same time, reflecting on the differences. I am often awestruck by our world – the diversity of flora and fauna, the variety of ways that life can be lived and the adaptability of nature.
But this evening my thoughts were most mundane. While Lun Lun munched down on a culm (stalk) of bamboo, I was reminded of a human eating a rib of celery. She bit down, but not all the way through, pulling off the green outer layer much like one would remove fibrous celery strings. Holding the stalk at the side of her mouth, she took a series of quick successive bites as her paw pushed the length along like the feed mechanism of a wood chipper.
Lest I bore you further with my ramblings, I’ll report that at Sunday afternoon’s check, the cub’s weight was 1368.1 grams (3 pounds); a gain of 70 grams (2.46 ounces) since Saturday. Debbie Forde Coordinator, Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Program Curatorial Assistant

Hi gang. Cool beginning to the day here....not cool enough for a woodfire but did turn on the gas stove for awhile. Glad to see/hear everyone is well and enjoying their Monday. Hey, Dave...welcome "home"--so glad you got a 'puter!!! Your next assignment is to head east for the 18th!! Please? I am having AOL trouble...can't open some mail, nor yahoo at all. Can't get to favs/bookmarks to open any cams, or play any witch bowling! Could open link to Sh. map, but couldn't print. ARGH!!!So think I am going to reboot and see if it makes any difference. Good afternoon to all!!!! Had a busy weekend celebrating Joseph's 8th birthday. He LOVED his ice cream cake! We got him a Green Machine and he thinks he is tough stuff! Also, Jack made him stilts. He will have to practice walking with them, Ha!
NORMA You most definitly are not the only Cowboy fan around! These two Texans are Cowboy fans!!!
Leaving here shortly to go back to Denton for a soccer game this evening.
good Morning all, its chilly here and I have even put socks on. I cant seem to get warm. I cant get sick now its only 3 days until I leave. I am cleaning and packing so now I'm taking a break.
it must be International Computer Does Not Want To Work Day, and nobody told us.....my puter and I have been fighting all day.....but my printer and I are now friends again:)
There are a lot of deer on NCTC and I did not want you to take a few of them out. Did not expect to see a groundhog in that field. This computer is driving me nuts. I think it may be a lot of hits on the air ways today. Stock market not doing well.
just think Casual, Anne....unless we have a flunk in the weather it is usually very nice....not that cold....I will keep an eye out for tropical storms:)
Like that weather word "flunk" MITS - needed a new word for my vocabulary....especially after a long week-end at 9-1-1 - this is a word I can say in mixed company!
Nice Woodchuck routine and pic, MEGAN -
By the way, can a Walnut Climb a Wall? No, but a Pecan (say Pee-Can) - old corny family favorite.
Anne-Marie: You ain't the only one who never saw a groundhog. I have one in the neighborhood here pretty often. Someone on the street called the police department and said there is WOLF in the yard....
You will probably see some when you visit West Virginny...xoxo
Computer problems for alot of us, huh? Must be the internet itself!! No particular server, puter brand, etc. Just one of those days! Thanks, Mits and Megan, for the woodchuck routine...has always been one of my favorites.....my kids and grandkids think I'm crazy! But they can't say it anywhere near as fast as I can!!
Not long after this city girl moved to WV, I looked out the window and saw an animal in the yard...I started hollering to spouse "there's a woodchuck out here." As usual, he laughed at me and said it's not a woodchuck. I went from bad to worse....even tho' I KNEW it was a ground hog, I just couldn't get that word off my tongue...so then I said "it's a BEAVER" and he roared at me "it's a groundhog!" LOL! One Sunday morning I had one that acted rabid...mister was at the Guard, neighbors were at church...I called 911, wanting animal control...not available on Sun. So they sent out a trooper. He said he wasn't allow to kill it w/ his weapon but could use mine, so he did. I was afraid to use the .22 because the creature was in the corner of the porch and foundation and I was afraid that if I missed the bullet might ricochet off the concrete! More LOL!!
Also, Hedgie, Animal Control does mostly dogs, and sometimes cats, and will help out on other things if another agency ASKS them but they have pretty strict guidelines. Most Wild Animals get referred to DNR - or some critter/pest companies...
it seems to be an e-mail...blogger problem with me today....outlook-express is battling my comcast mail.....but I am winning...little buggers won't get me down!!!!
Margy, I can remember a time when the Conservation Officer investigated some animal things...like when we found one of my dogs shot along the road...back in about '74. He also inspected litter complaints...actually arrested a guy who lived in town who had dumped a bag of trash that had items w/ his name on them in it on the road. These things all were when we lived on Ridge Rd. (now R.R. South). On the other hand, we had trouble w/ a particular vehicle & driver who would pass the kids' school bus ON THE RIGHT by driving in the field...we had the license number, but police said they couldn't do anything w/o a photo of driver because there was no way to know if registered owner was the driver--that was what they told the bus driver and the bus garage supervisor! I think Freddie Gantt was the bus driver at the time. BYW...heard his tumor has recurred and he is getting chemo again. Too bad.
Wow Lynn so he shot the groundhog with your gun. Couldn't use his huh? Guess he would have to write out a report and the guys would really have kidded around with him about that one.
We have a groundhog here that had 3babies last year. She is a BIG one too.
She doesnt't bother us we don't bother her. When we let the dog out she takes off.
Margy gg babies=4 but 2 we see more of. Had a ball and laughed so hard my jaws hurt from laughing. They are great!! Love being with them.
Yes, Hedgie, things change over the years, and I know about that part that sometimes Law Enforcement has to witness it themselves...but I would certainly think a visit to the registered owner of the vehicle would be in order...guess I should read the Code Book....what I THINK about things is surely not the way it goes sometimes...I did know that litter was a DNR things...curious...
Hope Mr. Gantt gets through this next challenge okay, I had not heard the recent news.
How old are your gg's, Dana? Computer problems have even affected the bank, according to daughter! We love them, we hate them...and probably wonder how we ever got along w/o them, but in this modern age, not having them is a real disaster for business!
Anne Marie...gotta tell ya'...groundhogs are more often seen scavenging road kill than eating greens or grains...so watch the roadsides on your road trip!
Lynn the 2 I was with today 1 will be a year old Nov 16 and the other will be a year old Jan 25th. Both were born on Friday's and both have the same middle name.
Enjoy them while they are little, Dana. They grow up too fast. Heard yesterday that my 14 y.o. thinks she's "in love"!! Heaven help us! Have fun, Margie.

Anne-Marie: You ain't the only one who never saw a groundhog. I have one in the neighborhood here pretty often. Someone on the street called the police department and said there is WOLF in the yard....
You will probably see some when you visit West Virginny...xoxo
OPPPS SORRY...MEANT FLUKE:):):)
there has been hammering and buzz-sawing all day up in Maine....sounds like roof repair
Oh, I like FLUNK MUCH BETTER MITS !!
The one on the left resembles a RAVEN !
More LOL!!
Is that my Myrtle the Turtle at Pix PA????
Guess not...must have been the squirrel tail over the stick...
...A real country gal, HEDGIE! YOu have come a loooooong way !And I love the Trooper story, can't use his weapon but could use yours!
My machine was all slow this morning too, compressed and did all that and shut down, now all better...
Probably is the stock market....like Ceil suggested...
Also, Hedgie, Animal Control does mostly dogs, and sometimes cats, and will help out on other things if another agency ASKS them but they have pretty strict guidelines. Most Wild Animals get referred to DNR - or some critter/pest companies...
I think the blobby thing on the right near the bottom, reminds me of a Cobra ! Or some other kind of Puff Adder, coiled up getting ready to STRIKE !
it seems to be an e-mail...blogger problem with me today....outlook-express is battling my comcast mail.....but I am winning...little buggers won't get me down!!!!
Too bad.
Good Afernoon ALL ( :

Whatever DANA's "gg babies" had in store for her today must have included a KIDNAPING !
It's a Good Day for that kind of kid fun !
Ooops, shoulda read the Blog first, see you're back DANA !
Sounds like great KID STUFF !
Good for you! Laughter gets the endorphins rolling !
xo
I'm headed "out the road" in a little while for some of that myself! Think I am going to sneak in a little Panda Nap first...
TTFN Enjoy your afternoons, folks!

We all say they are the twins of the family lol
Brayden & Cayden oh how I love those boys. ( :
So happy to be apart of their life.
Enjoy them while they are little, Dana. They grow up too fast. Heard yesterday that my 14 y.o. thinks she's "in love"!! Heaven help us!
Have fun, Margie.
