Here is the forecast for western SD for the rest of the week, it is too early for this!
The first winter weather of the season is expected in western South Dakota.
Snow is expected to develop tonight and continue into Sunday morning. Amounts of 6 inches or more are possible in northwest South Dakota and in the Black Hills.
A winter storm watch has been issued for Belle Fourche, Spearfish, Buffalo and the Black Hills from Saturday evening through late Saturday night.

SSG RYAN UPDATE Redeployment was scheduled for Jan 15 However there is news of a 2ND COURSE OF ACTION Redeploy with a brigade transfer of authority of 18 Dec., 2008.He stated that lots of big people :-) are trying to get 4th Brigade home before Christmas. That would be the best Christmas gift ever
This video (differnt than Glo's above video)I found was awhile back. I'm sure some will remember it:
Norma you favorite boy is in here "Spunky". Found just for your Birthday ENJOY. Everyone please enjoy in rememberance of our first year and in honor of Norma's BIRTHDAY. Starring Bigboy MsInBetween & "Spunky"
Norma - one Christmas eve I received a great granddaughter - The return of SSG would be equal to that gift! So I have been blessed many times with special gifts!
I am off Kayaking again today. I am going with a man from the osprey project. He is 76 years young and still kayaks. He hand builds beautiful kayaks. I know that he misses all the visiting, so I am going with him today instead of with the girls on the Missouri. Don and I will just do Lake Yankton, so I won't have many pictures today.
EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THE VIDEO ABOUT SPUNKY!!----I remember---like yesterday!!---You new EAGLE watchers will really enjoy watching too!---Remember the video SHARON made!---SPUNKY holding on in the rain storm!!--- THANKS DANA!!---tear here!!
I need the link to the video! Glo, you are bringing back wonderful memories again. I don't know if we will ever have anything to equal our first year and that is not saying this year's younguns were not absolutely wonderful!
I think whatever year is your first year to watch NCTC parents care for and fledge their young will last in your heart and mindseye forever. I know the memories of 2006 become more cherished with the passing of time.
And Hi to Everyone.Trying to be 'puter techie & debug, got rid of one set of every AM MS blocking windows by removing the program it kept blocking!!Something never used or needed!!Few more to go. I'm already pooped & gotta do major housecleaning! I think lunch would help! BBL ;>)
I remember when I was recording Spunky's storm. I was on the free version of Fraps and it would only record for 30 seconds at a time and I had to keep hitting record. My heart was a'thumping!
As you noticed for that video of "Spunky's Storm" there was no sound. It needed no sound just watching him hold on and not be thrown from the nest was as Sharon stated above the best description "heart thumping!".
Uh, Norma, I didn't get my piece of cake yet, I think someone ate it.... Hot out there today, gonna have to get the shorts back out-looks like it will be warm for the next 5-6 days.
Thursday, October 9 For the past week, nights at the giant panda building have been pretty quiet and uneventful. Lun Lun eats, sleeps and nurses her cub, and because she is able to satisfy his needs quite readily, the cub vocalizes less frequently than he did in earlier weeks. Last night, however, the cub was a bit more vocal than usual after one of his nursing bouts. It seemed like he just couldn’t find a comfy spot to rest within Lun’s paws. Lun did not give up, though, and every time the cub vocalized, she responded to his vocalizations. For example, she sat up, she laid down, and she also licked the cub to soothe him. In the end, the cub quieted down when Lun moved to the other end of the nest box, where they both rested, and the cub was comfortable with his head on Lun’s paw.
I should be decorating for Halloween. I am late doing it. The little boy down the street asked when I would be doing the window. Gave him some of my old Halloween things.
Waiting and hoping for some acknowledgment of receipt from the Herald Mail & The Chronicle. Also going to do what Megan suggested and contact the Observer. Making some progress on this project. Once this is finished all I have to do is 'show up' and enjoy the festivities with my eagle buddies!!
Thanks for the link to Spunky's storm! Bet you all were scared to death that he was going to be blown straight out of that nest! Noticed taht cam was mounted differently back then....early season pics showed all the buildings, which was a cool view....but "close-up" position now is better!
It is a beautiful day....been sitting outside. No need for sweater, or heat or air...just perfect weather! Has been peaceful and quiet....no barking dogs, etc. But 4-wheelers will probably start now that area kids are home from school...argh!!!!
I am assuming that you have all the outside painting finished, Lynn That is great to be able to sit on the deck and relax! Flu shot went ok I was in and out in no time flat!
Yes, Jo, painting is finished. All outside stuff is done except for blowing leaves when they start really falling!! Even the windows are done...of course, inside and curtains are just waiting for me to DO IT!! Yes, I watched that first link earlier...that's the one where I saw all the buildings.
Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear NORMA Happy Birthday to you!!!!
And many m-o-r-e!!!!
Hope your day has been the greatest!
Busy here! Trailer is in the drive way. Taking care of doctor appointments, arrangements for Annie the Mad Cat, mail, paper, etc. We are getting ready!
Hi, Lolly. I find that dealing with the mail is a huge problem when you are going to be gone any length of time. Our trip out west took us away for a month and there were bills that needed to be paid while we were gone. I tried to make double payments on everything, hoping that would cover everything. Phone, TV, Computer, Electricity, etc. One bill was short a few dollars and they charged me 52 cents interest!
Thanks Wanda! We really are not going to be gone too long this trip. We are planning this to be two weeks or a little more. Last Fall we went to New England and then we were gone for a month. I am not one to be gone for a long time. My home, yard and grandsons can not get along without me. LOL
I worry about my yard. Crazy, huh? But we have an automatic sprinkler system and hopefully there will not be a frost while we are gone. Have not moved stuff into the greenhouse.
Lolly I can turn off the Momster's emails when you leave. Just let me know.
I just finished a really good roast beef (in the crock pot) dinner! Now I'm ready for dessert - but I can't find anything good!
I got a personal phone call from the Martinsburg Journal - Young lady said they get swamped with letters to the editor but that she would do her very best to get it in there - maybe as an editorial. Our Group Is Going To Be Famous! and maybe more people will pay attention to our Liberty & Belle!
I got the front yard mowed. Jo, I got all the way to Yankton and Don decided it was too cold. GRRR! I called Mary up and she and her friend were on the river about 15 miles from Vermillion. They waited for me to get there and off we went. We ended up at Clay County State Park, about 5 miles from me. We had a great day, but it was a little chilly. I could see why Don didn't want to go. He was wearing long sleeves when it was in the 70's.
Deb - sorry about that - at least for Don. Your day turned out ok! Don is of the age that your blood thins and you can really get cold throughout - I know all about that darn it!
Just stopping in to wish Norma A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.. Jo Mc Vey is the person who helped me also and he is very nice man.. Oh the video of Spunky what memories.. Remember when we all were at the nest Jo and she was in the nest setting on that fish..lol GET IN THE JEEP I HOLLARD!!! I hope ya'll enjoy your time together next weekend at Open House,I will be thinking of ya'll as im in Florida visiting Mickey Mouse once again...
Jo, that would be great to turn off the momsters email!!!!!!
We are leaving Tuesday AM! I am waiting until this weekend, probably Sunday to make the cheesecake. Appreciate the fact that you will welcome me cheesecake or not. LOL Our refrigerator in the trailer is not that big. ha! But, we are going to manage it. We have talked about what we can do.
Going to church this evening for our women's group. Then tomorrow start loading. I like to have several days to load and take my time. We also went to the library today to get books to listen to as we travel. Mostly books Jack like as he is the driver and I am the navigator.
Hi Jo we are going to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party and everyone is encouraged to dress up so all 4 of us are going as good witches..lol Lots of free candy given out also.. This is an all girls vacation (me my daughter Dawn her sister in law Theresa and her sister Delores) We are also going to Universal Studios for the BIG Halloween Horror Nights and the theme for that is Bloody Mary (not thrilled about this part of the trip..lol) They have like 9 haunted houses and really scary time from the web site i saw... But i know ya'll will be yackin and having a great time together that weekend.. We are going to all the Disney Parks as Theresa n Delores havent been there before or been in an air plane and they are excited.. Well time to get back to playing Mahjong on pogo.. Take care everyone
Have a great time Nilla Don't go through too many Horror Houses! I mean we know there isn't anything that will physically hurt you but man! someone might get so scared and run right over you! so BOO!

And I was talking to Mema Jo on the phone at the time!
As you noticed for that video of "Spunky's Storm" there was no sound. It needed no sound just watching him hold on and not be

Hot out there today, gonna have to get the shorts back out-looks like it will be warm for the next 5-6 days.
Mits where are you? Update on cub and it is your job to bring it over.
Thursday, October 9
For the past week, nights at the giant panda building have been pretty quiet and uneventful.
The cub’s most recent weight is 1546.6 grams.

Going to church this evening for our women's group. Then tomorrow start loading. I like to have several days to load and take my time. We also went to the library today to get books to listen to as we travel. Mostly books Jack like as he is the driver and I am the navigator.
