Watched part of an awesome show "The Big Cats" or something like that on PBS very late last night, sure it has been on before. There was very good segment on Serval Cats - boy can they leap! Then was a segment on a Caricow Cat - which I have no idea how to spell but that is what it "sounded" like - and they could leap even higher, both as they were obtaining feathered food for their kittens!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Perfect October Day hereabouts. xox
Good Morning all. Cloudy and cold and windy here today hmmm. I think we will be losing some of our nice color now for the nest few days. :(
Hope your day holds beauty around every turn.
Hi Magpie Thanks so much for the visit to Elia's Blog. She is a charmer for sure.
Bird Girl does so much with Fallen feathers. She lives a little more than an hour from my daughter. Hopefully next trip to Tucson she and I can meet up.
My brother reports to me that years ago, at the VA Center, (Martinsburg) where our family lived from 1946 untl 1967, which was "Newton D Baker" Veterans Hospital back then, he remembers large white owls coming in during the winter and roosting on the roof tops. I have no recall of this; he is trying to determine if he thinks they were Snowy Owls, or Barn Owls...He was born in 1939 so I guess this would have been in the late 40's or early 50's.
I missed the ewwiiees at BWO - and I don't think the construction crew is working in Maine today!
I hope some of you who enjoy so much about nature and Critters of all sorts will take a look at Glo's Glimpses. I also will put all of my Eagle pictures from my area on this Blog as well. I needed a photo diary to share some of what I see with those who might be interested. In the slideshow at the bottom of todays link you will see info on the Graylag Goose. Makes sense once you see that I happened on a Canada Geese Convention at the Marina last week. Also you get to see a couple of Photos of my Buddy Dex. Take a look and subscribe to the Feed if you want to know when that Blog is updated. Oct 16 at Glo's Glimpses
Good, Good Morning Everyone!!! Didn't get to say "Pleasant Feather Dreams" last night, as I konked out in lounge chair in front of TV!! (as usual) Gotta get to work---if there's a break gonna check Deb's pics--can't wait!! Hubby's B'Day today, so I offered to take him out to dinner--2 BIG dinners in a few days???!!! Good to see Bird Girl and Candy on here & Glo, love your Elia pics!! Margy, you have GREAT, fitting avatar! BBL----great day to all ;>)
Good morning, everyone. Can you believe they are throwing the s*** word around here today? Luckily for me it will just be a possible rain/snow mix--I am not in the 2" prediction area. It is so dark and wet out, I have to have the lights on.
Good Morning WOW Deb - are you saying no more grass to mow? I forgot how often you get the shovel out! I am not ready for this. I sure do see those otter gals cuddled together sleeping.
I don't want enough to take pictures of :) --and I definitely don't want a winter like last year. If the weather man is wrong and we get more than a few flurries, I will take a picture. It is supposed to be in 60's on Saturday, so whatever happens will be gone soon!

Good morning, Eagle Lovers. I am now just getting back to work (and my computer) after several days with my Mom in the DC area. It was so good to see old and new friends on saturday. I have scanned the blog entries since the Open House and dinner and it appears that everyone, myself included, had a great time. I'm glad that the train riders got to see some eagles and that some of our group got to see our 2 favorite eagles. Unfortunately, I have to get to work - we have an auditor here today and I need to do things for him.
Wednesday, October 22 During the cub check yesterday, Dr. Sam Rivera, Zoo Atlanta’s Veterinarian, collected body measurements of the cub. He is now 41 cm from nose to tail base. His tail is 7.2 cm in length. His neck girth is 23 cm, chest girth is 34.4 cm, and his belly girth is a whopping 38.5 cm. His little nose is now 3.4 cm wide. All these measurements add up to 2,210 grams of healthy cub! Kate Roca Carnivore Keeper II
Lots of adult eewwiieess circling around when I came here to work at farmhouse office. Earlier this year saw about 30 or more on ground around breakfast. So ugly, I think I deleted that picture. Some use an abandoned little creepy farm house on site for a nursery.I was walking up dirt road to it once & heard glider like noise. Was a TV flying over my head & then made Uturn & landed in upstairs window of old house. That's where it's nest was! There are big vines, etc. around that house. Saw a juvie TV jump up from the ground onto a vine & was swinging away!Have to put that house pic on for Halloween. Back to work....or lunch

The little hummer can't decide where she wants to nest. Cam is set where she was working on a new nest, and now she started repairing the old. Here is the message on hummer page:
Oct 22, 2008: Sorry about the location. I set it up where she was building in the top of the bush, then she decided to repair her old nest below. I'll move the camera when I'm sure she'll stay there. She's in and out all day, esp. in morning. Afternoon sun will probably wash out picture.

Good evening all. DEB I am so sorry to hear that you have rain/snow predicted for your area. That is the pits. I am soooo glad that we moved out of NY State. I hate the winters with the driving and shoveling. If I could just stay inside by a roaring fireplace and enjoy it, that would be different.
Hi gang! Another busy chat day! And so many neat pics to look at, thanks to Deb and Glo! All GREAT, girls! Deb, do you have any "people pics" from the train ride? Good to see Candy back onboard, as well as birdgirl. Happy Birthday, Frank! Buddy is looking good, but it does seem rather doubtful that he'll ever be free to soar. SStill need to read the info on the RV...sounds interesting! Sharon, you are #1!!! Keep up the good work...you are over the hump for sure, girlfriend! Jim, AOL can sure be a bugger, can't it???
Been reading the blog, catching up. It was my day at Mrs. Riffe's, so that is always hectic for us. She is really doing so well. Other than having to use that walker, she is back to her old self. Mind is sharp as a tack. The power of prayer is a wonderful thing. Thank you all so much.
I'm sure she was doing her best, but I think that the eagle felt her nervousness, and she didn't appear to be strong enough, not too mention that she needed to short leash the bird. She did seem to be able to calm him well, tho'. It was like watching someone cradle a fussy baby.
Well, since I spent the weekend having fun, Sun. and Mon. recuperating, and part of two days at the hospital wasting time, and went to grocery store today, guess I'd better go get some chores done. Too late to vacuum, but a load of laundry, clean the bathroom, and finish putting stuff away is definitely do-able now. Later, friends!
Lynn, no people pics from the train ride. I didn't bring my camera bag and only had the telephoto lens along. My suitcase is empty and put away, but the laundry isn't done!
Hedgie - I don't think you can really blame our girl. The poor eagle had never been out before....I think she did very well with him, all things considered.
TTFN Eagle Buds!! Gonna catch some TV before bedtime. Check back with you good people later.
Paula, I think she really tried but with him, I think they should have sent a more experienced handler. He was just to skiddish and I don't think she had the experience to deal with him properly. Nothing personal towards her at all. She was very nice.
OK watching the opening moments of the World Series....that had to be the most horrible rendition of our National Anthem, sung Acapella by the Back Street Boys, since Roseanne Barr desecrated the Anthem......JMHO
I'm still taking it slow - No Pain or discomfort whatsoever. Maybe the weekend is just now catching up with me. I really just feel like doing nothing much. I need to get energized
I wish they would tell us ahead of time when they were making changes. I am going to POST and I'm wondering if I will see the next post you do withOUT refreshing. That would be great. Here I go
We, DEB & JO, are with you Wanda! Have no fear - I have both formats up. I have a feeling this old format isn't going to come up again if I close it..........

I went over to AOL to 'talk' to Suzanne ... even before 8:30 ... but I never hooked up with her because of the line going down.
Just got started opening stuff again, and it went down for the second time!
Well, as they advised on the phone I shut the modem and the puter down, waited a couple of minutes and started over... So far, so good.

Just looked in on Atlanta's baby panda and he seems to be taking his panda nap. I just love watching the little fuzz ball.
and that is ok with me, Candy.....Buddy would make a good educational eagle
Sister is calling BB
Evening all!! Our little Luney sure does want to be mobile don't he?
Helen, Buddy would be a good one. Just hope he would get paired w/ a better handler than our gal was!
Been reading the blog, catching up. It was my day at Mrs. Riffe's, so that is always hectic for us. She is really doing so well. Other than having to use that walker, she is back to her old self. Mind is sharp as a tack. The power of prayer is a wonderful thing. Thank you all so much.
Boy Lynn, that is for sure. She really didn't have the experience to be showing that poor eagle. That was really a terrible sight!!
I'm sure she was doing her best, but I think that the eagle felt her nervousness, and she didn't appear to be strong enough, not too mention that she needed to short leash the bird. She did seem to be able to calm him well, tho'. It was like watching someone cradle a fussy baby.
Is that Tai laying on his back?
oops...make that not TO mention...! One too many o's...fingers are too fast for my brain.
yeah, it was hard to watch.
Can't tell them apart, Sissy!! You all are much better it than I am.
That is Tian, Lynn
ops, Sorry, Sissy.....I can only tell because I know what number the cam is on and that is his den
Oh, okay, couldn't tell how big he was. They are so very beautiful.
I still have to unpack, isn't that terrible?
lol...my suitcase is still in the hallway, but it is MT, and clothes are being washed now.
buck and raccoon at PA
ok, now cam is on saltlick
Lynn, no people pics from the train ride. I didn't bring my camera bag and only had the telephoto lens along. My suitcase is empty and put away, but the laundry isn't done!
Hedgie - I don't think you can really blame our girl. The poor eagle had never been out before....I think she did very well with him, all things considered.
I have the people pics from the train ride...will try to get them done later...
Buck at PA.
She was very nice.
raccoon party time...at PA
Ditto, Sissy. She was a very pretty girl, too!
Will look forward to more of your pics, Paula.
OK watching the opening moments of the World Series....that had to be the most horrible rendition of our National Anthem, sung Acapella by the Back Street Boys, since Roseanne Barr desecrated the Anthem......JMHO
Party is still going on in PA - Lots more have arrived... At one point I counted 10 big fat raccoons...
WOW
how is it going, Jo?
I'm still taking it slow - No Pain or discomfort whatsoever. Maybe the weekend is just now catching up with me. I really just feel like doing nothing much. I need to get energized
yeah, me too....
Going to watch the panda video you sent me.
its a slide show, Jo
off to watch Criminal Minds
68 slides all of pandas from everywhere. Quite enjoyable...
I have a different screen than usual, I am typing at the bottom of the page instead of on the side.
going out and coming back in didn't help. No avatars or anything on this page.
Well Deb How did you do that..
You mean on this blog - right?
Yes on this blog. It is really weird. I am going to try Firefox and see if I get a different screen than on Safari.
OH MAN! Me Too!
I wish they would tell us ahead of time when
they were making changes.
I am going to POST and I'm wondering if I will see the next post you do withOUT refreshing.
That would be great. Here I go
Has there been some kind of change on our blog that I don't know about? I can't get on the regular page...I think I am in the twilight zone.
Same screen there, it is taking forever to post. I wonder if it will ever come up.
I am on Firefox, Deb.
I wonder if it is a Blogger problem. Maybe something is going goofy there.
I still have the old format right here Hope it posts.
We, DEB & JO, are with you Wanda!
Have no fear - I have both formats up. I have a feeling this old format isn't going to come up again if I close it..........
We don't have any avatars on here.
I bet this is the new form
I still have a trash can - do you?
On the new format I can hit the refresh key
and it updates comments.
DEB & WANDA ARE YOU STILL ON HERE

Well, I still have BOTH formats of the blog up! I think that this one (old regular one) is going to be put down and we will be using the new format
SOMEBODY COME JOIN ME
I am still here, Jo.
Thank You for Being there Wanda.
Wanda - do you have both formats up?
No, I don't, Jo...I can't bring it up.
I just have this new thingy...don't like it very well.
SO I guess we have what we have You know....
It is what it is........ lol
It's ok but I really wish that when someone
made a comment you could just see it & not have
to refresh to see it
Yep, it is what it is
OK If you sign out of the older format -
You lose it forever......... I just lost it and
now I am on the new format - It's a CHANGE
It'll work ok...Just miss the avatars..We had
fun with them. Deb & Wanda I think we are the guinea pigs!
WANDA I can still click on your name and
find your blog! WHOO HOO We didn't lose those good pics.
I guess we will get used to it and may find some good features about it.
I will really miss the avatars.
I am sending an email to Steve and ask if this
is for keeps.
Oh my surprises on the blog. Two different surprises in the same week. Guess it keeps us flexible but I will really miss the avatars
