If we don't get to, it is not going to be pretty up on this hill this weekend, I tell ya!! Been looking forward to it for a long time but ya know the old saying "stuff happens".
MORNIN' DEB!!---I hope you are thawed out now!---I haven't read yesterday's blog!---Need to catch up---Two close friends have had such sadness the past few days!!
Good morning all. Norma when you are retired everyday is a holiday. Shame about the manatee. They are such lovely animals. Mits is having computer problems that will not let her into the blog.
SISSY---I didn't see the notice that you & SHARON may not get to attend the 18th----DON'T GIVE UP HOPE YET---Everyone will be so very disappointed!!!---
I would love to see the BOY CUB that is so ADORABLE & CUDDLY---THE ATLANTA ZOO had to post a sign to protect themselves --- THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN HEARTS!!!-----SISSY!---bet he stole your heart before you saw him!!!-----Would love to see BUTA BUTA---She has stolen many hearts too!---LITTLE IMP!
Thanks--JO---I can't get NZOO PICS now they are all pink stripes!!---But saw them sleeping in the sun yesterday!---will check later---when they clear up---This is happens every now & then!!
I have Daniels Multiple Panda cams up but I was looking at Little Luney on the acutal Atlanta cam site... Then I heard all this banging noise...Forgot about treat time at the nat'l zoo and that cam 1 had sound....
Little Luney is really moving those hind legs...It's like watching a little miracle........
Aren't these pandas just fabulous!! I just told Sharon if I worked at Atlanta, I would have already been fired for wooling that baby to death. Truly miracles and such a blessing to get to watch them grow and live. Plus they brought me to ya'll. That is truly the miracle!!
JO---The CLOUDED LEOPARDS are still out!!----SLOTH BEARS MUST BE THERE TOO!---(lots of people pointing up---but can't see the bears)!!---ho!---holiday crowd?
Good morning to everyone who came on after I was on earlier. Sissy, Sharon, Norma, Red, Jim, Paula, Lynn, Deb and Jo. Norman I love the little seal. Oops, sister I forgot you. Mits did you see that the manatee died? Such a shame. Beautiful animals who seem to get in the way of humans.
The little hummer has started building a new nest as of Oct. 8. That is all that is posted on the hummer site, so we will have to look for more news coming up.
SHARON---I keep thinking he is a she!!---tail shorter too!!--HE STEALS EVERY ONE'S HEART!!!---Just ask SISSY?? ho!---I remember feeling that way about TAI!!!---I was just sure that if I had gone to the NZOO----he would recognize me!!--ho!----He was ONE COOL PANDA!!---
WHOA! DEB---I check the DIVER'S site at least once a week!---I really enjoy watching them!!!--Almost like TAI!!----We were watching them so often---I was sure they would recognize us if we met them on the street!!---DUH!--I was getting desperate!!---ho!
I check it all the time too, Norma. Then one day I thought I had been seeing the same thing for quite awhile. Sooo, I finally looked at the cam date and it is stuck!
Good afternoon everyone in eagle land. I haven't posted in quite a while, but I check in and read the blog several times a week. We have had outstanding fall weather here in western PA. Love those fall colors......went to Benezette PA--in Elk County, to see what else but elk last week.We saw about 18 different ones. Those bulls certainly have wide racks. Hope you all have a great time at your get together.
GRANNYBLT----MISS you!!---Are you still finding time to bake home made BREAD??--ho!---If we have ELK in WV---it's very few!---DEER is every where---WV is #1 state---one is more apt to hit a deer---I think PA IS #2 or #3!---Please check back again soon!!!!!
There are people in the viewing area too ... I'm surprised.
Maybe it's "global warming," but I've been there twice...early to mid September, and they were closing everything down and locking it for winter. Light snows like these had already begun by the first week in September.
I wonder if this delay is typical nowdays. Anyway, it's very beautiful and awe-inspiring as always. That's good.
The top three on your list are all in the top 10 on State Farm's list. I wonder if State Farm only uses their clients or total accidents per state. I would think total per state.
HEY!! NO PROBLEM----I am just glad we don't have that many ELK --- Can't imagine what it would be like to have those 'big guys' running around in our lawns---That would scare me!!!----Husband used to go ELK hunting in MONTANA!!---
Hey all! I was quite surprised to find the BW Wildlife Drive open yesterday when I visited. According to Lisa it's not scheduled to be open until November. She thought it might be temporary because there is still work to be done (which I could tell). Anyway, here are some photos from yesterday:
I wonder how and if there have been fledges from the OR nest. I don't know why those OR birds don't move out of the area. Seems they don't mind it one bit.

Wow Deb your really on the ball today.....Oregon Nest ty I did forget they get snow in October. Great pics on the other site of the male and female. ty
I heard singing and laughter and chatter...had to stop and see what was going on. What do you know, it is MY BIRTHDAY. I have read every good wish and greeting and listened to each and every card. You guys are terrific. I got an early morning delivery of two huge boxes of costumes which I was told would not come to me before Halloween, so I canceled the order. THEY DON'T LISTEN VERY WELL! Anyway, I have been steaming costumes ALL DAY. My hair is steamed also and hanging in my face. I needed to take a break and I'm so glad to sit and read all your wonderful greetings. I feel SPECIAL, LOVED, CELEBRATED, WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, FRIENDLY, AND 38! Thank You and my love to you all!
I went to pick up the dogs and, of course, I had to drive over the new bridge in Yankton. Driving over the new bridge took me down to the dam, where two osprey put on a show for me. I am downloading the pictures now.
Have been off 'puter all day--busy & dentist appt. for achy tooth while chewing only. He needs to do root canal, but can't until Nov!So I have Rx pain killers when needed. If I become extra whacky in WV, blame it on the drugs!!!LOL
The old bridge was a double decker, there is a picture of it. The old bridge is not going to be torn down, it is historical and will be kept as part of a walking, history thing.
Trying to check back & see Bob, you've done it again!! Beautiful pics! You can't stay late at NCTC nest because we are going to FOLLOW you to dinner!! ;>))
TODAY'S NATURE STORY---Was on deck this AM w/coffee watching a squirrel with huge walnut in it's mouth. It was walking along top of fence from house behind us onto our fence and kept going along the right side of our house til out of view, towards front yard I guess.A minute or so later, I looked to my left & squirrel w/out walnut was on the deck & walked up & sniffed my shoe!!!!!
Deb,wonderful Old Faithful--Thx for link! If I don't get everything read tonight, think I'll be able to catch up at Park tomorrow--should be nice and quiet. BBL-Little People on TV
One of the cities on the eastern shore on RT 50 had a new span built - not as long as the one you have but they didn't tear down the old one - left access to it for fishing.
lol Loretta it's a good thing he didn't bite your toe off & go bury it! Sorry that you are having a tooth problem..... Don't you love the scheduling procedures.
This blog is acting crazy with the format - throwing my words down onto the next line..........
WANDA so glad your special day was somewhat nice. Sorry you had all those customes to do on your birthday. I'm sure Gene will help make your day special. You are SPECIAL so again HAPPY 38th BIRTHDAY ( :
Caught up on emails and took a panda nap when I got home from apptmts. Now caught up here. Probably need to check mail again!Bob, pics are absolutely marvelous! Nice bridge, Deb! Got to watch a state trooper going through video surveillance this afternoon...Subway at our little shopping center was broken into last night and robbed...shopping center owner installed cams last month...unit is in my guys carpet store...he still hadn't found anything when he had to leave, so will be back in the am to continue looking. Grainy images....glad I don't have to watch it for 7 hour. Save travels, Lolly. See you Fri.!!!
Will do! I sure am hoping you guys furnish cooler weather. It is not terrifically hot here, but warmer than I like and muggy. Supposed to rain tomorrow, hopefully not before we are on the road.
Have great trip Lolly & everyone from far away!! Will check Deb's pics tomorrow. Can't wait! Saw Little People & then had to watch John & Kate---great family. Yesterday I checked Shep. weather for Sat. & it said 61 as high & cloudy. That was in the paper w/Jo's letter to Ed.
Dana, the plant is thistle, I think, but I will double check. The two osprey together were just soaring in the wind, they would twist and turn all over. It was so fun to watch, I am sure I missed some good pictures, but I was fascinated watching them.
Friday Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 60s Friday Night Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s Saturday Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 50s. Saturday Night Clear. Lows in the upper 30s. Sunday Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 60s.
Thanks, Jo, that is what the weather is doing here now. It was 75 yesterday and I think we were lucky to hit 50 today. Tomorrow will be mid 50's. I broke down and let the furnace cycle through once to get the chill out of the house.
Hi Kids, I had to see all the OR eagle pics & nestoration video in the snow! Deb's butterfly is a painted lady.I was seeing quite a few in the last couple weeks on sedum at farmhouse office. They are almost more beautiful on underside. Will have to check pics I got then. One of our artists wants to make a long mural & paint the wing underside on it.

Good morning, Mits, Norma ~~
The weather in So Cal is not the usual "beautiful" thanks to very strong desert winds whipping the area. ...The Santa Ana Winds ...
I hear on the radio that they are getting the smoke from a fire a fair distance north of L.A., but I haven't smelled any here yet.
Just praying that no more fires start and that they can contain the the one to the north, which is out of control now owing to the winds.
[:~D]
Jim
There comes another big one through..
They are pretty close together - both going in the same direction
Good morning to everyone who came on after I was on earlier.

Deb, we saw these elk in people's yards and close to the road. None in the "elk viewing area" --mostly in family groups bull, cow, and youngster.
Still baking bread!--gotta go to a craft workshop--ciao
What state has the most deer?
In: Deer Elk and Caribou, US States Cities and Territories [Edit]
[Edit]
Pennsylvania. Then West Virgina, then Virgina.
just checked this on Goggle
I'm leaving for a BIG panda nap. BBL
There is alot of panda napping going on (wish I was a panda)!!
GRANNYBLT---Forgot we do have an ELK RIVER--ELK GARDEN--& an ELK SPRING----& ELK have been seen--VERY--VERY FEW!!!!---
Thanks for the shot of Old Faithful, Deb.

Published just last week HELEN---& was on NPR--(PUBLIC RADIO)---One is more apt to get HIT in WV--
whatever, Norma:)
State most likely to hit a deer in, as ranked by State Farm Insurance:
1. WV
2. Michigan
3. PA
4. Iowa
5. Arkansas
6. SD
7. Wisconsin
8. Montana
9. ND
10. Virginia
my list was not for deer hit...my list was for population
Norma I could be wrong but what Helen said is that they are saying there are more deer in PA. WV just hits more of them.
Off to doctors appt.
The top three on your list are all in the top 10 on State Farm's list. I wonder if State Farm only uses their clients or total accidents per state. I would think total per state.
Yep, total per state. If you don't want to worry about hitting a deer, move to Hawaii, number 50!
Deb I did not know that Hawaii even had deer.
JIM!!---I hope you don't get the smoke & smog ---what they have been showing on TV---Looks like you might need a mask!!!---
HEY!! NO PROBLEM----I am just glad we don't have that many ELK --- Can't imagine what it would be like to have those 'big guys' running around in our lawns---That would scare me!!!----Husband used to go ELK hunting in MONTANA!!---
I don't think they do either, that is probably why it is number 50! I will check to see if they do!
FUNNY!!---Would think we would see an ELK on the PA site!!---lots of deer---
They do have them, but they are not a natural inhabitant. They were introduced to Hawaii in 1959.
food time----later!!---
Turkey party in PA. Big ole fat ones!!

Bob
BEAUTIFUL, BOB
Beautiful, Bob, just beautiful!
Thanks Mits, Paula. With a little luck maybe I can get someone making a nest visit Saturday. Probably not likely though with all the people around.
Wow, Bob, beautiful pictures!!
Jinx, Mits :):)
Bob, they may visit early morn or late evening...
I could stay late to try to get a picture and skip dinner at the Ruminator Tavern!
Just kidding. I'd be too afraid someone might throw me in their trunk if they thought I would miss dinner.
I want to go early to the nest, do I need to get permission to do that? If they come early, I would like to try to get a picture.
Thanks much, Bob... really interesting and beautiful photos from your excursion to BW.
[:~D]
Jim
Thanks Jim. If I'd have known the Wildlife Drive was opened I would have gone earlier and spent more time.
I can't get the Oregon cam open, so I checked the Maine forum. They have snow already. I'll get a link to some pictures from the 10th.

Have been off 'puter all day--busy & dentist appt. for achy tooth while chewing only. He needs to do root canal, but can't until Nov!So I have Rx pain killers when needed. If I become extra whacky in WV, blame it on the drugs!!!LOL
Discovery Bridge
One of the cities on the eastern shore on RT 50 had a new span built -
not as long as the one you have but
they didn't tear down the old one -
left access to it for fishing.
I think that is the Choptank Bridge , Jo.
lol Loretta it's a good thing he
didn't bite your toe off & go bury
it!

Will do! I sure am hoping you guys furnish cooler weather. It is not terrifically hot here, but warmer than I like and muggy. Supposed to rain tomorrow, hopefully not before we are on the road.
Weather could change but on mine it is saying 50 on Saturday. Anne better wear 2 pairs of long johns lol
Safe travels Lolly and Gods Speed.
Saw the pics Deb - You're getting to be a pro picture taker of flying high in the sky osprey/eagles..
They were great.
Deb just looked at your great pictures. I like them all but I do like the butterfly on the purple plant. Is that milkweed?
In picture 4 what is the Osprey at the top doing?
Thanks for the schedule, Jo!
Paula.....are you home? Do you have the table schedule yet?
Have great trip Lolly & everyone from far away!!
Will check Deb's pics tomorrow. Can't wait!
Saw Little People & then had to watch John & Kate---great family.
Yesterday I checked Shep. weather for Sat. & it said 61 as high & cloudy. That was in the paper w/Jo's letter to Ed.
Hard day nite all
Prayers for all needs.
Dana, the plant is thistle, I think, but I will double check. The two osprey together were just soaring in the wind, they would twist and turn all over. It was so fun to watch, I am sure I missed some good pictures, but I was fascinated watching them.
Yes, it is thistle. I want to know what kind of butterfly that is. It reminded me of a moth in the center.

Thanks, Jo, that is what the weather is doing here now. It was 75 yesterday and I think we were lucky to hit 50 today. Tomorrow will be mid 50's. I broke down and let the furnace cycle through once to get the chill out of the house.
Deb - when Loretta looks at pics tomorrow she will probably know the butterfly species......
Going to need long sleeves this
weekend.. Good Breathing Weather!
I need to rise & shine early tomorrow morning - at least earlier then I want to.......
I'll be closing down shortly.
Going to get ready.......
Oh, Oh, Oh...I'm missing everyone....they are going to turn out the lights on me.
LOLLY...have a wonderful trip. Travel mercies will be said for you.
Wanda
Did you have a really good day despite the work you had to do?
DANA...not milkweed. I'll have to send you a photo of milkweed. Deb is right, it's a thistle.
Weather here unreal--83 today,80 TU & maybe next day too!
Thanks, Loretta. I googled it and found lots of pictures. It is the first one I recall ever seeing.
Look up a few Loretta at the weather for the weekend... Cool & Crisp
SPLIT IS COMING
