We got to see both Lib and Belle. I kept asking them to go to the nest, but they have minds of their own. They gave us some beautiful poses, so I will see if I can get any on this computer and figure out how to post one.
I have been telling people at the zoo to tune into their site, most of the people I speak with only think, Washington and San Diego are the only cities in the US that have pandas
Not yet, I am still to excited. I told Lolly, this is so different, because they are "our eagles." It was so great to see them both. I really wanted a picture in the nest, but I did get some great shots. We sat up next to the barn, so we were pretty close to the tree.
Hey Deb!!! I am so glad you got to see them. I kept wishing this morning I had your number to call you when we saw them. What a treat! Can't wait to see your pics.
DEB, when did you and Lolly get to see our eagles...was that today? I am so confused. I thought the eagles you saw were when you were on the train. I AM SOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU. I was feeling sad that you and Lolly and Anne-Marie cam so far and our beauties were a NO-SHOW! I must have missed something...I'll have to read back over the day's comments. Are you home now?
Dana, I'm so glad to hear Norma did meet with our visitors. I am anxious to hear from her tomorrow. And from everyone else after they get home and unwound.
Helen, all those people that have "heard about us" are keeping a close watch on us...so we must be on our best behavior around them or they may have us comitted!
Norma was great, we had a great train ride and lunch afterwards. She rode outside with Paula and I the whole time.
We saw the eagles tonight, I think around 5:45 or so. Paula and I saw Belle earlier, Paula first at the tree. Then she flew off to the left of the tree into another tree. That's when I got there.
I am not home yet, found out the motel does have wifi!
I put up two pictures, but since I am just on this laptop, I didn't look through them all. There could be one better than the first one I posted. The second pic I put up looked really spooky in my camera, so I will have to see what it does on my Mac at home.
Just hear from LOLLY Wanda she tried to call you but no connection. Well she is also in seventh heaven and wants everyone to know she & Jack are leaving tomorrow with Bells On Their Toes! They all had lunch with Norma - 8 of them. So Norma really had a day! They did see some eagles from the train but it is just a short length of time that you see them up pretty high. Paula Deb Jack & Lolly were at the tree for an hour and a half begging them to come - And as Deb said they came. Lolly said she also got pics of Deb & Paula jumping up & down with excitement. Jack had a scope and Lolly could see the pupils in our Eagle's eyes... Can you imagine that!
Speaking of the security guards, did we tell you that one of the guards came to the Eagle Express and told us where he was seeing an eagle? We couldn't see it, so he took Bob in his vehicle and drove him to where it was. I t was gone by the time they got there, but, I thought that was a very special thing for him to do.
Lib and Belle were just beautiful in the tree. Belle was there when I arrived, then she flew off to the left, and I found her perched in the tree top. Then Deb arrived, and she got to see her. Then she took off, and we couldn't see where she went. I think she went past the tree and across the field down to the river. Then Lolly and Jack arrived, and just as we were showing them our pics, Belle came back! Then, while we were watching Belle, Lib arrived! We stayed until dark, past 7, and where shooting a couple of last pics, and I think our flashes scared them off...they went back to roost in the tree that Belle had flown to earlier. It was an awesome visit!
hey Megan, we had some of Mason's favorite bacon at Betty's this a.m., they were going to make Ceil wash the dishes because she could not finish her pecan pancakes:)
Thanks, Jo for telling me about Lolly trying to call. She was probably calling our cell and we only turn that on when we are on the road. Paula, glad you and the others got to see LIB & BELLE...your persistance paid off!
NatureNut!!! You pictures from Open House and the dinner are fantastic! Thank you so much for the frig magnet you made for us! Great reminder of the weekend right there all the time!
Norma was so funny...she got 3 more necklaces sold while we were on the train and at the restaurant...I should have worn 20 of them on the train...I could have sold them all!!
Wow Paula that will really sale as pics on a calendar. Maybe the cover pic then some other pics for each month. Better have a lot printed. I think everyone will want to buy one.
Loretta, I loved your pictures. I, of course, went picture crazy like always. It will take me awhile to go through all mine. Glad you like the picture. If Paula hadn't been there, I wouldn't have gotten close enough to get that shot!
Deb, That is an award winner pic!! If I lived closer, I would be at that nest every AM & PM!! All of you who saw them today were so fortunate! Great pics from everyone!! Red, did you see yourself at dinner? Paula--great pics & cheesecakes--Red should be proud of his. Guess what I had for dinner?--- Steak, baked potato, squash,& a little piece of Berger's cookie!! Thx also to Steve and all the NCTC folks for a great Open House.
Jo, I kept saying to myself, that even if I didn't get to see Belle and Lib, I got to meet all of you, face to face. That made it the wonderful weekend it was. Seeing Belle and Lib was the icing on the cake! Really good icing, but the best part was meeting everyone!
Nature, I am just LOL at your pics! Jim and Red really made it around the room!!
And I love all the other pics...thanks, cause I never made it away from our table...love the hawk video...it was so nice to finally meet you and your hubby!
Jo, only the underside of it's tail was white. The upper side was still dark feathers. Also, you could see all his head feathers weren't white...he still had an "eye stripe", much like the osprey do.
Paula, I'm so glad you got pics of the educationaal eagle. We missed him :>( Paula, you work too hard! (Jo, If I could run away from home at will, I'd be up there in a flash!!) All I can hope for now is that the eagles at the Park will come back to their nest after the leaves fall off & I'm at the right place at the right time! NCTC nest is great-so out in the open.
Loretta, next time we go to the nest, we will let you know, and we will do it on one of your weekdays that you have off, come over to my place and I will drive you up.
Thanks Paula for making the cheesecake. I know everyone enjoyed it. Just wish I had gotten a piece. Thanks for the photo Loretta. Sure sounds like a good time was had by everyone and I'm so glad Lib and Belle got to visit with some of you.
The tiredness just caught up with me. Time for me to go to bed. I will let you know when I get home tomorrow night. I don't get to Omaha until 7:30 or so, so I won't get home until 10 ish, central time!
AAAWWWW...We have to end this wonderful weekend now, but we do have some great photos to look at over and over again to relive all those special moments. Isn't it wonderful though, we have each other to talk to about the events of the weekend anytime we want..we are so blessed.
Good Monday Morning everyone. The Sea Eagles have been at Finney overnight, and also the Hoodys. Now, waiting for sunrise and hoping for a glimpse of YOU KNOW WHO !!
Good Morning, Margy... Yes, we are experiencing our first COOOLD WEATHER of the season. It is 29° right now and I think I would like to crawl back under those warm covers.
Oh, Good, I have company ! Good Morning Wanda and Sissy, sure enjoyed your photos!
I'll be lurking but trying to move furniture out of the way in second bedroom for a second hand "prize," some dresser drawers, supposed to be delivered this morning....phooey, would rather sit here and watch things, but I'll be checking in often...
GOOD TRAVELING WISHES FOR ALL OUR REMAINING OUT OF TOWN VISITORS...
One of my favorite photos is one of the Group Photos from the Banquet Saturday...when BOB is there twice! Once, for real, and the other, a mirror image! It is such a cool shot !
Margy, I noticed Michael in one of the photos too. I had to laugh to myself...he was so confused with our meals and bills, and he must have been confused about who he was. He thought he was part of our group. LOL

This was such a wonderful, beautiful, refreshing weekend!
I am fixing to settle for a long panda nap! Glad everyone is safe and sound tonight!
We got to see both Lib and Belle. I kept asking them to go to the nest, but they have minds of their own. They gave us some beautiful poses, so I will see if I can get any on this computer and figure out how to post one.
THANKS FOR A GREAT OPEN HOUSE, STEVE AND EVERYONE AT NCTC:)
Steve-thanks for posting the pic
thank you too Deb
I can feel the love in the air :)
Yes, indeed they do, and they are taking good care of him, like Lun is:)
I have been telling people at the zoo to tune into their site, most of the people I speak with only think, Washington and San Diego are the only cities in the US that have pandas
Now is that a group or is that a group! The greatest there is these days! What a wonderful weekend.
Thank you NCTC & Steve for a great
Open House!
I bet you are tired, Deb?
Not yet, I am still to excited. I told Lolly, this is so different, because they are "our eagles." It was so great to see them both. I really wanted a picture in the nest, but I did get some great shots. We sat up next to the barn, so we were pretty close to the tree.
Yep, so glad you got to see them...I just sent you a pic of the growing falcons in Australia.
Hey Deb!!! I am so glad you got to see them. I kept wishing this morning I had your number to call you when we saw them. What a treat! Can't wait to see your pics.
Jo
Annie, Bill and Sandy had lunch or dinner with Norma today after the train ride. Annie said Norma really enjoyed herself.
Thank you Steven and the great Open House. I gets better and better every year.
Where are you Deb? You're not home yet are you?
They really made us Momsters feel welcome at NCTC, didn't they?
no Sissy she goes home tomorrow, hope she is unwinding after her whirl-wind weekend
yes, Sissy, even stangers knew who we were.....they would say, "oh we have heard about you", hmmm wonder what that really meant?
DEB, when did you and Lolly get to see our eagles...was that today? I am so confused. I thought the eagles you saw were when you were on the train. I AM SOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU. I was feeling sad that you and Lolly and Anne-Marie cam so far and our beauties were a NO-SHOW! I must have missed something...I'll have to read back over the day's comments.
Are you home now?
Right, Mits! I think it was good stuff though. Alot of people said that they got on and read the blog alot, a few from NCTC, even a security guy!
Dana, I'm so glad to hear Norma did meet with our visitors. I am anxious to hear from her tomorrow. And from everyone else after they get home and unwound.
I put a few more pics on Sissy's pics. I am sure there is another way to do this, but I am a newbie!!
Helen, all those people that have "heard about us" are keeping a close watch on us...so we must be on our best behavior around them or they may have us comitted!
LOL, Wanda:)
Norma was great, we had a great train ride and lunch afterwards. She rode outside with Paula and I the whole time.

Sissy, great shot of the moon through the tree with the 2 eagles. One of the best I have seen. That moon makes it so special.
yes a special thank you goes to the wonderful security guards who are always so patient with us.
Great Deb!! I am gonna kick back a while and get ready for bed. Back to work tomorrow!!
Good night my wonderful Eagle friends!! I love ya'll so very much!
it was good spending the weekend with you Sharon and Mattie...get some rest.
I put up two pictures, but since I am just on this laptop, I didn't look through them all. There could be one better than the first one I posted. The second pic I put up looked really spooky in my camera, so I will have to see what it does on my Mac at home.
Just hear from LOLLY

Boy Deb! My heart won't stop pounding after seeing those 2 photos!
I think that is one of the best shots I have ever seen of them, Deb, with the fall leaves, and it is soooo clear.
Well, wow is right! That is a great picture, Deb! So glad the eagles made an appearance for our out of town visitors.
Well, where can I start!
Thanks, Steve, for posting the group shot picture! We had such an awesome time at the Open House. I think it was the best yet!
Norma took us to a great little Italian restaurant in Romney. We had a wonderful lunch!
And If you have never been on the train ride before...it was worth every penny!
The train goes up the south branch of the Potomac. We rode past eagle rock, where the first eagles nest in WV was discovered in 1976.
Deb, your pic turned out wonderful....that will look great on the new calendar I am getting together for 2009...so don't buy one yet!!!
hey Megan, we had some of Mason's favorite bacon at Betty's this a.m., they were going to make Ceil wash the dishes because she could not finish her pecan pancakes:)
And BTW, that was the pic of the day!!
And are you talking about our last scary shot?!?!?!
Thanks, Jo for telling me about Lolly trying to call. She was probably calling our cell and we only turn that on when we are on the road.
Paula, glad you and the others got to see LIB & BELLE...your persistance paid off!
I have been looking for an eagle calendar, know I don't have to anymore
NatureNut!!! You pictures from Open House and the dinner are fantastic!
Thank you so much for the frig magnet
you made for us! Great reminder of
the weekend right there all the time!
Don't forget to double click on Deb's pic!! It's awesome!!
Yes, Paula, it looked better in the camera. It came up really weird on the laptop, so I will have to see what it does at home.
Norma was so funny...she got 3 more necklaces sold while we were on the train and at the restaurant...I should have worn 20 of them on the train...I could have sold them all!!
I haven't even looked at mine yet...just got home a little while ago, fed the dogs, and ate leftover steak, tater, squash and a piece of cheescake!
Red, your cheesecake was excellent. I enjoyed it more tonight than I did last night.
Deb, you have mail.
That picture is breath taking Deb!!
Wow Paula that will really sale as pics on a calendar. Maybe the cover pic then some other pics for each month. Better have a lot printed. I think everyone will want to buy one.
I heard Sissy, Sharon and Mattie got to see L&B this morning!!
Deb, I keep looking at Lib & Belle in the first photo you posted - I love it. I really do love it!
Paula, I answered.
Loretta, I loved your pictures. I, of course, went picture crazy like always. It will take me awhile to go through all mine. Glad you like the picture. If Paula hadn't been there, I wouldn't have gotten close enough to get that shot!
Thanks everybody for the lovely photos at open house. I've enjoyed seeing everybody and the photos of Belle and Lib. Deb you have a winner.
Also a Belated Happy Anniversary to Chrissy and Frank
Paula - 3 pics from Sissy are in the email from Momsters.
I just saw them Jo, going to look at them now...got 2 pics uploading, be just a minute.
Sissy got some great shots!
I can't wait and I know what they are!!
I posted 2 different pics on the EM blog
The first pic was before Deb got there...when she came back...you can see she sat in the exact same place.
Great shots, Paula. What a wonderful visit we were blessed with!
Great shots Paula! I know you and Deb have many many more! Can't wait.
Deb - we locals didn't want you to go home without seeing them - I'm sure now you and other have had the perfect weekend!
I have just sent an email out...I added a new photo album to the group site....so please add your Open House pics when you can! Thanks!
Loretta, let some of know when you're coming up here - we sure owe you a visit with these eagles
Thanks Paula for the album
I also can't wait for a calendar of our eagles. Well maybe a month or two
Deb got some cool shots of the eagles from the train. One of them was a 3 1/2 yo juvie!
Great pics Paula ( :
I need to know
What markings made you say it was
3 1/2 yr old juvie........
Red, that's your cheescake that your are stuck in! I put a strawberry glaze topping on it.
Jo, only the underside of it's tail was white. The upper side was still dark feathers. Also, you could see all his head feathers weren't white...he still had an "eye stripe", much like the osprey do.
If it were 4 1/2, it should have had a lot more white...so we figured 3 1/2
Oh, and the whole beak wasn't yellow yet, either. But his feet were!
Loretta and Deb, great pics, as always!!
Thanks Deb and believe me the feelings of meeting you and the others for the first time was the very peak of the iceberg.
Thanks for explaining that to me - I didn't realize there were so many things to look for during their yearly stages

Great Helen - That sounds like a plan
Thanks Paula for making the cheesecake. I know everyone enjoyed it. Just wish I had gotten a piece. Thanks for the photo Loretta. Sure sounds like a good time was had by everyone and I'm so glad Lib and Belle got to visit with some of you.

Oh, Boy, the Open House and Potomac Eagle Excursion Album is n the first page first page of the Momsters Album collection....
Margy, I noticed Michael in one of the photos too. I had to laugh to myself...he was so confused with our meals and bills, and he must have been confused about who he was. He thought he was part of our group. LOL
Good one, Wanda...I wonder how many trips he made to our table with questions about WHO got WHAT!
Okay, fuzz has lifted from OUR nest, now for some action !
