I'll be heading in the opposite direction this Halloween Red. We are going to Ripley to get together with some very good friends this weekend! And I don't have a panda costume. Boy I do need one. Wanda?
NORMA, we don't have time to dress up and Party on Halloween...we stay open til 8 o'clock and are usually too exhausted to even THINK about Partying. But, I will have to say, that the last week of the season, we feel as if we are having a party every day! It is FUN as well as exhausting.
I've been watching beautiful Mei get the better of Tian again as usual,,,,
Loretta,, the Panda suit is on it's way pet,,,,,,,,,one size fits all !!!
hasn't the weather turned,,,, it's so cold here I can't feel my legs,, it's either that or the booze !!!
I don't know about coffee Margaret pet,, I'm on my 6th cup of tea so far,, and I drink out of a pint beaker,,,,,, hay ho the trips to the loo are becoming more frequent,,,,,now is that the tea or my age or just the cold ????
I've been good today,,, for breakfast I've had dried fruits and nuts with yoghurt,,,,I think I've had a mind slip from the usual sausage and bacon and fried bread !!!
Lunch time soon and I have spiced roasted chicken breasts to make sandwiches with,,,,
Almost 2pm here and I need to get some jobs done,, I'll try and be back later,,
Norma, I can' t remember what they are going to be, But Kevin is going to be a farmer and Anne a farmers' wife, think one of them is going to be a chick???
Good morning, everyone. It is going to be 68 today and that means I have to clean the garage once it warms up. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 70 and we are hoping to go kayaking, so I want to get my work done today.
As long as it is nice out, it isn't that bad. I tend to spread out over the summer, since the boat takes up the driveway. It just needs a good sweeping and putting everything back where it belongs. I use a shop vac, much easier than a broom.

Wednesday, October 29 Well just as she did with Mei Lan, Lun Lun has started taking the cub on “outings.” Over the last few days, we have seen Lun Lun carry the cub into the adjacent dens for brief periods of time. She does not stay long in the new areas, because the cub usually protests vocally to the relocation process even though no harm is caused to him. Soon she might start to leave the cub in the other dens. Until then the cub will have to learn to tolerate the mode of travel around the dens. Wild giant panda mothers move their cubs to different dens as well, most likely to reduce parasite exposure and avoid predator detection.
The cub’s weight yesterday was 2,608 grams. Kate Roca Carnivore Keeper II
Red..We got a big laugh about your pumpkins. Did you have your GRITS this morning? We had ours yesterday morning the way you like yours but we have added something to ours that make them even better!! I was writing to tell you all about the grits when we lost power. The Power Company estimated about 11 hours to get it back on. I told them I was on an Oxygen Generator and the lady said "Life Support". We got it back on in less than three hours. WOW!
Hello to all in Eagleland!! Cool and breezy here today, but not as bad as yesterday! Entering the Park this AM, I finally saw an adult eagle flying over the nest area and toward the River!!! It was pretty high, so don't know if it had been at nest or not. As Suzanne always says, "keep your eyes to the skies!!
BTW, Love Red's pumpkin people :>)) I have that picture, but was too chicken to use it!! Will get rid of the spyder when I get home. Still looking for my haunted house pic! Wish I could get Atlanta cam. Would love to see CC carried to other dens!
Red... Just the other day we had some chicken broth left over from a garlic bread soup from the night before and my wife (Dot) used it in place of some of the water for the grits. They were the BEST Grits we ever had!! I still used lots of butter and salt and pepper with mine though.
Red, At work we have RETARDED Wind. 2000 Prof. 'puters that have no/old Media players. Other office I work at got upgraded to XP & now we can at least see Atlanta!
I said Kelbasa and cabbage soup. It's really Polish sausage but can use Kilbasa too. Here's the recipe. Sure is good on these crisp fall days.
1 Small Onion, Chopped ( 1/3 cup) 1 Stalk of Celery, Sliced (1/2 cup) ¼ Cup of Butter ½ Cup of Flour 8 Cups of Chicken Broth 4 cups of Shredded Cabbage 8 – 12 oz Fully cooked Polish Sausage, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced. 2 tsp Snipped Fresh Parsley ½ tsp White Pepper
In a 4 quart Dutch oven cook the onion and celery in butter till the vegies are tender, but not browned.
Stir in flour till the mixture is smooth. Add chicken broth and cabbage. Cook and stir till soup mixture is thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 3 minutes.
Stir in sausage, parsley, pepper and cook uncovered 10 minutes.
Break time, progress is being made. I have all the camera stuff from the Osprey project tucked into the corner and the garage is swept. Now just have to put stuff back where it belongs and I am done. Needed a break from the dust.
Hi gang! SO many fine folk on today!! Sorry, Paulleo, don't like grits! Red, the kielbasa soup sounds good! Talking about food makes you sleepy?? Makes me hungry!! Chrissy, it's a combo of the tea, cold and age!!! I drink iced tea all day and I know what you mean!! Beautiful McKinley!! Hope the chemical spill/fire is under control! Margie, Paulleo...any other "locals"--vehicle ran into the DMV in Jefferson County...hope they didn't issue that person a license!!!
Now some kind of agricultural animal truck overturn w/ dead animals on road on 340 south of CharlesTown!! Wonder if the wind is blowing trucks off the road!?
Of course, that's normal for beltway and environs, huh?? Doesn't take bad weather to cause it!! One time I was on 495 when a car in front of me had hood pop open...poor woman couldn't see where she was going, and it scared me almost as bad! Thankfully, it was about 11am so traffic wasn't too bad, and I was able to get over to the outer lane and around her...she made it to the shoulder ok. Pure luck.
Helen, did you know that the biggest threat to sea otters is cat feces? The toxoplasmosis germ gets into waterways not only from above-ground runoff but also from treatment systems where people have used flushable cat litter.
I'm not sure I know what is normal here.....traffic is traffic, it is what it is. I usually just heard out at least 15 mins ahead just to be sure I arrive on time to where I want to go....
Hope everyone has a nice afternoon and evening...Enjoy all the wildlife. OUR NEST sure looks ripe for a visit.
BTW - I love grits, and like that new idea, PAULLEO with the broth....gotta load 'em up with salt and pepper and an egg and plenty of butter...good winter meal !
Trip to Morgan County in my near future, I am off tonight.
Thanks Hedgie.. Like your avatar.. Out the Door now Taking the back way up and down Parks Gap Mtn, then through Tomahawk, gotta avoid Hedgesville Town traffic this time of day.
That's for sure!! Unbelievable how slow it moves....so much worse since all the traffic lights were put in. Usually thins out pretty good after Butts Mill and Camp Frame! I absolutely hated it when I worked until 5 the last few years I worked.
Gosh, that was pitiful. Me, Sharon, and Thelma have come to the conclusion that she hurt her ribs. She fell right onto that stump. Bless her little heart. That was very traumatic for me (not to mention Buta)!!
Making stuffed peppers tonight. Got canceled last night as I had to run to town to unlock wifes car door so she can get keys. lol At least she bought me dinner.
I just got a note from Janie and Gabby finally got her wing wraps off. I looked back and it has been since Sept 18th that she got hurt. (We are told that she is a he, but old habits die hard.) I will put up a picture of Gabby with her wing wraps on. He will be placed in a heated cage soon, as the nights are getting colder in Idaho.
It is getting closer for Beauty's second attachment of her beak. They are doing CAT scans and assessments on her right now. The SD eaglets are doing well and are being fitted for anklets to keep them flying and hunting this winter so they can be released right away next spring. They are doing the same for two golden eaglets they have.
We are home!!! What a fantastic trip! Four nights W.V., four nights DC, and four nights in the Williamsburg area. Home safe and sound...give praise!!
I have a whole new feeling when I see who is on the blog. It will take me a while to catch up on everything.
All is well here at home. Have walked around the yard and everything is great. I was worried about my Ti plant as it has dropped into the 30's here, but it looks great. Annie the mad cat is MAD at us, but she will get over it. :)
Just wanted to let you wonderful people know we are home.
We use a whole Pork Butt roast, put it in the slow cooker along with the saurkraut and a can of chicken broth and onions and cook it for 24 hours...then throw in hot dogs...or Keilbasa the last hour or two of cooking. Yum!
I have returned --I feel like I have been in a far away land.
Welcome home Lolly & Jack Very happy you made many memories
I love all the Halloween avatars! I still need to get the candy! At least waiting this late it will not get eaten ahead of the trick or treaters coming.

The sun is rising in Talkeetna, Alaska:
Talkeetna/McKinley
I said Kelbasa and cabbage soup. It's really Polish sausage but can use Kilbasa too. Here's the recipe. Sure is good on these crisp fall days.
1 Small Onion, Chopped ( 1/3 cup)
1 Stalk of Celery, Sliced (1/2 cup)
¼ Cup of Butter
½ Cup of Flour
8 Cups of Chicken Broth
4 cups of Shredded Cabbage
8 – 12 oz Fully cooked Polish Sausage, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced.
2 tsp Snipped Fresh Parsley
½ tsp White Pepper
In a 4 quart Dutch oven cook the onion and celery in butter till the vegies are tender, but not browned.
Stir in flour till the mixture is smooth. Add chicken broth and cabbage. Cook and stir till soup mixture is thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 3 minutes.
Stir in sausage, parsley, pepper and cook uncovered 10 minutes.
Cook longer if you don’t like crunchy cabbage.
And I would suggest a couple pounds of Microgreens, Red! :)
lol...Sharon....pile those suckers on:)
Deb, that is an awesome site in Alaska

DINNER TIME HERE..BBIALW...THAT SOUNDS GOOD WANDA.
Lolly, Welcome Home. So anxious to see your photos and hear of your travels. Sounds like you made the most of your trip.
We sure did make the most of it. We spent two days in DC and one visiting some civil war sites.
Loved Williamsburg as well and we went to Jamestown. We've been to all of these places, but everytime you see something new.
We walked till my feet hurt, but that was good as we were eating very well. What is it about trips that makes you eat so?!
Don't know Lolly, we do the same thing...just seems like a good supper is the way to end a good day!
Welcome Home, Lolly and Jack. It was so wonderful meeting both of you!
Vacation = eat what you want! (Plus, ya didn't have to cook it...makes it better!)
We were so happy to hear that you went back to the nest and say Lib and Belle. We wanted that to happen as much as you did!
Yay! Lolly and Jack are home! Glad you had such a nice trip and it was great to meet you.

Welcome home, Lolly and Jack. When is your retreat, Lolly??

Time for our dinner. BBL
There is a bear on the snowman cam right now!
Hummer off the nest, you can see the egg. It does look huge!
Welcome home, Lolly and Jack! So glad to have met you, and that your trip was a rewarding experience in so many ways!!
Where is your retreat??
See the bear, Paula! Did you notice the temp?? Brrr....and bear!!
Megan, we had some of that weather, too. It's too early for this nonsense.
Hey, Wanda, hoping you had another great day in the shop!
How cool is that bear??? I don't know when I would have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it.
He's being pretty quiet. Looks like the small black bear we had in Frederick a couple of months ago.
This one is for Lolly, Jack and Anne- Back Home Again
I have returned --I feel like I have been in a far away land.
Welcome home Lolly & Jack
Very happy you made many memories
I love all the Halloween avatars!
I still need to get the candy! At least waiting this late it will not get eaten ahead of the trick or treaters coming.
I remember that cam, Suzanne had sent it around several weeks ago, and was wondering how it would look when weather turned cold
Snowman cam is neat, that bear is just hanging around...
did someone say Halloween candy?...ok, I'll have some....
Megan, what a perfect song for Lolly and Jack. :)
Yeah, I love that song...
I have candy corn.....
Went to Wal-Mart today, after visit with GeeGee. Candy is on sale, I think half price. Didn't buy any...too tempting! LOVE THOSE LITTLE CANDY BARS!
Mama hummer still off the egg
I bought some stuff for trail mix...munching on that instead of halloween candy...
WHoops! Going to check out
