WOW, came downstairs to go out on the porch and listen to 2 great horned owls talking back and forth to one another - saw one fly off over the house - very cool! came back in to see an MT nest and to lots of eagles calling! An intruder??!! And Shep chased it off! Great Judy that you had your video rolling! Can't wait to see!

Hoda, to me, the intruder did not look as large as Belle
Two lovely eggs in a perfectly formed egg bowl with momma on the hot seat.
Judy, that was not Belle. He was upset before that eagle landed. He would not have reacted the way he did and Belle would not have landed where that eagle landed.
And she was calling from above right afterwards.
Paula, I saw that but couldn't comprehend what was happening. Argh.

Jack and I were talking and watching the news when I heard all the commotion.
I think it was an intruder from the way Shep was acting just before. He was agitated and DID NOT want that eagle comong onto his nest.

Hancock Foundation called it intruder also PAULA. I accept all of your arguments and will go with them, particularly on the size issue, this I can recall from my watching and you make a good point. I will concur PAULA...
WOW did not have video neither did the Hancock site. We will wait on JUDYE.
Shep was chirping and agitated before the intruder landed almost on top oh him.
OC folks are also saying intruder chased out of the nest by Shep (Ben as they call him).

I'm back again, my dad is getting some vascular surgery done and mom is a wreck. The nurse told her it was complicated and may take a little longer. Told her no worries, my back surgery was the same thing, complicated and an hour longer and it helped in the end...

LORI, thanks for the good thoughts. Will see a "Back Surgeon" next Thurs. and have tentative appt. for a spinal injection on the 22nd, if surgery can be delayed a while. Meantime, the doc prescribed stronger drugs for pain control. Here's hoping they do the job without making me too loopy.
Sweet LYNN called--always thinking of others ! She agrees with the plan and I'm pleased to have her expert opinion. She's tickled pink with her gorgeous flowers ! Thank you "Flower Angel", MEGAN for "Operation Daffodil" ! Says she's a little groggy, but having no ill effects from the chemo treatment so far. Praying that she won't !

Well, as usual, I'm zapped and hungry. After seeing the doc today I picked Malcolm up and took him on his midday walk and constitutional. Then picked Seth up after school. Good times, but they do wear me out now that I'm fighting the back n' hip pains. So, prayers for all in need and hope you all have a good evening and a restful night ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

We just got ready to grill some salmon filets. Jack had the grill going. Could not find the salmon. We both thought the other had put it in the refrig. Called the store...they have it. Jack is on his way to the store. Store is about 4-5 miles into town. Rice is ready..but no salmon. Oh well..........

Saw Lori's comment about geese/swans. Margy is more the expert, but tundra swans I've heard are not very loud and sound like Hoo Hoo. Canada geese honk up a storm and sometimes sound like dogs in a kennel. They do fly at night too.
1/2 crummy day at work. Vinyl cut out text was not cooperative to peel excess, so I left some before both of us ended up in the trash! ☺

On Hancock Foundation they pointed out that the intruder has a lot narrower head and a smaller body which led them to think it is a male.

Belle is up for an egg roll. All is quiet except for the wind.
DANAMO , I was watching and it happened so fast. First I did not think it was an intruder and then PAULA pointed out that the eagle was smaller than Belle, Hancock Foundation reports the head is lalso smaller which indicates a male eagle. It came to eleven spot and tried to land and SHEP got off the eggs and chased it away.It was actually over the nest...touched down on the railing and flew directly over the nest...Belle was in the attic vocalizing which is an another reason PAULA says it was an intruder...there was a chase and the vocalizing was from the attic. Belle is now incubating.
She is settled back on the eggs facing 6.
Belle is now facing ten and is still awake looking towards six/seven...
Moon has come through clouds and I can see more clearly into the nest.

I am hoping that Shep is up on the limb
and not injured in any way!

JO it was exactly what happened to me about the direction Belle was facing. I like it that sUSAn was persistant and that MARGY said she saw Belle's tail feathers at eleven...between the lot of us we will get it right...This is why I trust us so much and there is a question of trust. Report as accurately as possible and when a mistake is pointed out see about seeing things differently and changing my view...MOMSTERS/ DADSTERS ROCK.

Belle is facing 4 now and resting. Not tucked, but not looking around. Hope Shep is in the attic. He must be for her to be so relaxed.
The bag boy at the store did not put it in our bags. We use reusable bags. They found it and put it in a refrig. I called the store and they were very nice. Before they found it they told me to come in and they would give me more. It was very good...glad Jack went back and got it.
I saw the tail at 11. lol The moon is really shining now. Belle is uo for an egg roll.

I fixed venison burgers for dinner. Amazing. Mixed in minced garlic, a 4 cheese Italian blend, and Worchestershire. Then put lots of paprika parsley on the outside as I fried. Oh my gosh, what a treat.
They were so lean I had to put a little olive oil in the skillet.
