MARGY when I got off work at 6 the MOON was so pretty almost full it will be a joy seeing the nest the next week YEAH for the moon

JudyEddy said...

Jordyn was so confused the other day when we saw the moon and the sun at the same time

grannyblt said...

Went out in the blowing snow today to find some migrant ducks etc. We saw a total of 4 eagles in various areas around here. Three nests and two of them had white heads peeking above the crib rail. Also saw hooded and common mergansers, wigeon,a red head, ring neck ducks, Canada geese, ring billed gulls, gadwall, bufflehead and black ducks. Also a FOS great blue heron. So much for my birding report of the week.

Okay, how about this one? I once had a Chinese student who enrolled in my summer class to brush up on his English back many years ago.

He took notes in Chinese. It was an eighth or ninth grade class, and I am sure he was the only one taking notes at all.

I would walk by his desk and think, "I said that?" (Of course, could have been writing anything, actually.)

Anyway, he was so conscientious that I was very impressed.

When school started, he came to see me because a teacher had corrected his spelling of the word "colour." The poor kid was confused.

I guess he needed to know that it was the British spelling and not the American spelling, but I couldn't imagine telling him that it was wrong.

Wow - the nest is so bright - too cool!

YAY LYNN!!! You stopped in!! Woohoo!!

DMO, I'm w/ Paula on the pronunciation of "a." It's a tomayto-tomotto thing, and it could vary based on where a person is raised as well. Man, if that's the biggest teaching "mistake" you ever make, you are one A1 teacher (and that's A pronounced with a long a)!!

LYNNE1, that's a lotta different birds to see in one day!

Off to watch Alcatraz, then hit the tub and the pillow!! goodnight, eagle friends!!

JudyEddy said...

Gonna go watch TV have a wonderful evening my fine feather watching friends FFWF Belle is tucked again I love the nest at night with the moonbeam beaming on it I have one video done and on Facebook page and will put the other on it also and will put on blog in a bit just one of the snow flurries this afternoon and changing of the guard this evening BBL

paula eagleholic said...

LOL Lolly, that's the southern pronunciation!

paula eagleholic said...

Thank you to everyone for their daily reporting on our nest activities! I swear, everytime I stepped away from the computer, something happened! Only missed actually watching the action, since we have such good observers on here!

Lynne2 said...

evening all!

what a busy day at work. The phones went on at 8;30 and never stopped. In fact, a couple of people with sick animals just showed up at the office because they couldn't get through on the phone!

Lynn, so glad you checked in today but very sorry you are still feeling so weak and puny. Prayers for Charlie and Carolyn.

Lynne1, wow what a great birding day! We spent the late AM and early PM at Loch Raven Res. here but we didn't see nearly as much. We had a pair of Mute Swans, gazillions of Coots and Canada Geese, tons of Buffleheads and several pairs of Wigeons. Right up the street, on Saturday, I discovered a pair of Hooded Mergansers in a pond! I haven't seen them since though. Guess they were just passing through.

DanaMo said...

We teach "uh". We tell them that A (long) is the letter. All the teachers on my floor agreed and so did our Sister who is considered our "grammar" expert. I also consulted a teacher in the public school who says either way is accepted by the "assessment program" that they use and which we also use.
Tonight I got online and listened to "storyline" a website that has actors from the screen actors guild reading books to children. I only listened to one, Betty White, but she pronounced a as uh which is good enough for me.
I just always worry about doing something wrong. Now I'm worried about our emails back and forth, I was always respectful and just stated what I had learned asking others, but you never know, our principal is a "parent" principal not a teachers principal. If he took anything I said wrong and goes to my principal I will be in hot water.
Thanks for your opinions. Just wanted to hear it from others.

DanaMo said...

Now look at that nest. It sure is bright tonight! Love that!

Lynne2 said...

I got the Crossley Eastern Bird ID book today from the Library and I LOVE IT!!!!! Highly recommend it.

Steve is feeling very sick. He wasn't feeling so great Friday evening, but went fishing Saturday, and insisted on not missing our outing yesterday. He has bad chills but his temp is actually 2 degrees BELOW normal. Stuffed up, headache, sneezing, general BLAH feeling.

Lynne2 said...

hmm, been pondering the long A vs UH. Seems in normal conversation, I say UH. BUT, when I am making a statement, or a point....I use A

I'm going to take a (uh) bath.
vs
I am going to take A long hot bath.

I saw UH skunk.
vs
I saw A skunk!!!!!

weird.

DanaMo said...

I'm sure I have made plenty of mistakes! I just always worry because we are a private school and if parents aren't happy well...we are kinda responsible.

Okay...nothing on TV so I am probably going to grab my Kindle and relax before catching some z's.

thanks everyone again!

BTW-I say tah may toe and po tey toe.

Lynne2 said...

I was pretty far along in life before I realized that AN comes before Historical. Even though Historical begins with a consonant.

You all know I use xoxox a lot, if I am not careful on texting it comes out as "xotic"
I'm hunt and peck slowly key by key and have to correct often
not hi-tech at all, but it comes in handy. Lynn sent me some updates while I was out earlier, much appreciated,

Lynne2 said...

BTW, Puddles was an absolute MONSTER yesterday on our walk. There were a lot of people, on bikes, walking, with scooters, and lots of other dogs. She was compelled to tell each and every one of the off. EMBARRASSING! We take treats, and we get her to sit when someone approaches her, and I try to keep her attention and reward her when she is quiet. This worked only about half of the time. And even when she WAS quite as they passed, she would turn and give one little BARK at them just to make her point. UGH!!!!!

magpie said...

bet those robins perked up with all the worms around, Paula...
glad you have them there now...
they were arriving here within the last week in good numbers

interesting noise at the nest...
oh, its the donkey geese !

magpie said...

the males (robins) have that dark head and redder breast, the females are a little more pale both head and chest...usually see lots more males than females

Lynne2 said...

My assessment is that she was a pet store or backyard breeder puppy who was never socialized during those first critical 16 weeks of life. Then probably purchased by someone who further didn't take care to socialize her. But we she has come a long way...just a long way to go!

Lynne2 said...

I think she is Margy. her behavior is challenging. She had a meltdown when Brother Cat started playing with her Elmo toy (or what is left of poor Elmo...a toy that she STOLE by the way, from our neighbors!) She is extremely possessive. Another odd thing about her is that she doesn't play interactively with us, or with Daisy. She throws her toys around and chases them. She'll chase a ball and get it but won't come back with it, but rather runs off with it. She may have also been of a "one puppy litter". Those pups don't learn social interaction with other dogs.

OK, I'm done babbling about my dog! Good thing she is cute and loves snuggling with US!

Hi, Everyone!

Dinner is over, and Kubby was tired, so went to bed earlier than usual. Emma is taking a nap. Glad that gives me time to be here!

Have sort of caught up, and am
THRILLED to see that LYNN made it here to say hello! That makes me SOOOO happy! Hope that you are gradually improving (or at least, not feeling worse!) each day. Don't know what kind of chemo they have you on, or what's to be expected as far as side effects, but hope you are able to eat something and keep it down! Sending lots of gentle hugs your way, as well as LOTS of love!!!!
Main thing for you to do is REST, REST, and MORE REST!!! Love you!
DEFINITELY with you in spirit! Prayers for you continue, big-time!

Prayers for Charlie and Carolyn! Hope they can figure out why Charlie's spleen is enlarged, and FIX IT! Too much happening for one family!

Well, gotta go. Lots and lots to do this week--Kubby and I are going to fly to Dallas to visit the kids this coming Saturday, March 10th! We will be there for 2 weeks, and return on March 24th!
We are getting the round-trip tickets for free, from our flyer miles accumulated on our Delta credit card! Gosh--haven't been to Texas in over 4 years!!!! Lolly, we will have to try to figure out a way to get together while we're there!...Maybe lunch one day, or something. Not sure yet what days our daughter Jen will have off--this is a surprise for the kids!
It's KILLING us to keep it a surprise. We will be there for our GGD's (Sierra's) 6th Birthday on March 15th, and for our own
41st Anniversary on March 19th. Should be quite a trip! Emma will be going to her "Doggy Camp" while we are gone. May ask Sis-in-law to visit her a couple of times while she's there.

Back to report that it was not really possible to see much with the binocs, due to some cloudiness low in the sky. Supposed to be a possibility of rain tomorrow. Did see the moon high in the sky, though. No clouds up there.

Going to call it a night, and go watch some TV with Emma if she's awake. Much to do tomorrow, so need to try to get a good night's sleep. Prayers have been said for everyone, and for every creature. Making sure the porch light is on. Enabling the eye-scanner security, and WV Dana's thumbprint-scanner security. Sleep well, all.
(Especially our Lynn!) God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!:o]

Ms Bookworm said...

Oh--pulling a Margy here, to let you know that when I was a senior in high school, I got a DRAFT NOTICE! Think it was because they mistakenly signed me up for a BOYS' P.E. class--guess they thought "Andrea" was a boy's name. Actually, it CAN be, in Italy! Was glad to get that mess straightened out, for sure! Viet Nam wasn't anyone's idea of a nice vacation!

Blood work and urinalysis was done, showed nothing major, not even dehydration?!! Yet Dr Phares said he is... Dr Phares wanted him admitted so off to the er he was wheeled from cat scan. They left him lay there in a bed for three damn hours before he was even seen by a DR!!! Then the DR said nothing warranted a stay in the hospital! Margy, saw 12-15 robins in MILs yard on Sunday at any given time. Looked like they were having a convention... and that was between snow squalls.

magpie said...

well heck twice, sorry

I posted a mistake last night, the Full Moon is actually Thursday morning, early on the 8th.....
(not Wednesday as I posted)

WV sUSAn said...

I guess that's a fish that SHEP brought. Hard to tell but BELLE wasn't interested for very long.

magpie said...

sounds good, Susan ☺
they are a beautiful bird....
not bossy, not harrassing, they just seem to enjoy life, eating worms and singing their heads off

WV sUSAn said...

Good news about the full moon. Hopefully, it be nice a bright around the wkend and we will be able to SEE a hatching. Ohhhhh, it's getting eggciting!!!!

WV sUSAn said...

And, to correct my comment... LYNN has been feeling like "goo," but I want her to feel "good." teeheehee

WV sUSAn said...

Phoebe's second chick fledged around 7:40p eastern yesterday. Was watching the nest and it just poofed. lol I could hear it or one of them flying about in the general area for a while after. So cute.

JudyE, Phoebe is probably planning her next clutch. She IS busy!

Poor LYNN really has been feeling like "goo," huh.

good terrific Tuesday morning to one and to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM OFF OF WORK TODAY!!! COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY OFF OF WORK!!!! not one massage/ not one reiki session/not one class to teach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (not that i don't love all of those things, but i too need a breather!!)

just caught up on a few posts....sounds like most everyone is okay, thinking of course of those mentioned with issues....

i overslept til 6:20 today! my alarm didn't go off. but i acutally didn't go into a panic, i said, oh well! :)

i do have to go to get taxes done this morning. i have had my business numbers crunched for a while (my rule is to do this in december), but the company that i normally use never answered their phone. thinking they may have gone out of business????? so a client of mine is a CPA and she agreed to take on my taxes as well. so it will be a pleasure to get this done.

have to run to one of my favorite stores in nashville today, cosmic connection...they have beautiful rocks/crystals/stuff. i need some sage. break my heart to go over there, lol. not.

this coming weekend i am teaching for the first time at the AMerican Massage Therapists Association spring conference here in Nashville. I am doing a level 1 Reiki class both Sat and Sun @ 8 a.m. it is just a four hour class, so won't take all day, but am very excited about it. its just a compliment to be asked to teach at this!!! :) and i took Monday off! imagine that!

the weather is gorgeous here today; sunny and going into the 60's. i might get back outside. its hard right now to NOT over do the spring stuff. i see my fig tree is waking up!!!! :) i ordered it from gurney's last year and grew it in a pot til fall when i planted it on the southern side of the house and against the house so that it would have protection from the winter winds. so far, so good.

i want to get started on the raised garden, i want to plant a cherry tree as well this year. !!! :) i did plant pansies over the weekend and need to split my hostas...

JUDYE: cats think they rule, always. my natasha.....thinks she is queen over every one. even me. she has a very arrogant expression on her face and she strolls the house like a queen as if she owns everything in her path. but she is so beautiful that you forgive her for it. lol. she and i went round and round her first few years as she was into everything, i almost got a holster for my squirt bottle!!!! but she is better now. and liquid cat nip (got it at petco and petsmart) squirted on their kitty condo makes for VERY mellow kitties...lol

BEANO report: he is sleeping with his thundershirt.....and not freaking out. now to rub it on him. he will eat off of it and allow it to be in his kennel...now to see if we can get to the point of putting it on him....

he he he. evil momma i am.

everyone i'll check in later. have a fabulous day....we should have eggs hatching soon by my thinking????? am i right??????

smiles for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
