Right before Shep flew out she had tremors and fluffed herself out...it is when most of asked if this is what is happening right then laying the egg...around5:27 PM EST. She moved off it and we saw it at 5:34 PM EST.

See JudyE mentioned something about a video saying Shep was NOT there when egg was laid. He was standing w/back turned to Belle at 5:29PM when she was going thru the puffing, opening of wings and shaking. She may have laid at that time or before.

HODA, thanks for posting the video. It is really good. I think I was distracted from her laying the egg by the fact Shep was in the nest and they had been beakering. I was watching but not reading the blog at that moment.

Kay, egg rolls are more often than every 1-2 hours...it's about every 20-30 minutes or so.
Sure would like to see Shep's reaction and how he does settling over the egg for the first time in the morning.

What a night! Just when I was a bit depressed that my (ours, Hoda) team didn't win, we have a beautiful gift in our nest!!
Know that Belle will be a good momma but worry about her teenage mate. Hope his instinct is developed enough to be a dad.
Isn't it great they know the other? Wonder what signs they use to identify them. Maybe it's true about "eagle eyes."
Saw that Belle finally crouches down for the night. I noticed she was not in a sleeping position until midnight and believe I saw her egg before then. Rest Belle while you can.
She's up again at 12:24 AM. An egg roll? She seems restless.
Hope everyone has a restful sleep and prayers for those who need them most.

Enjoyed the game, watched it all. I didn't think all the commercials were as good as previous years. I enjoyed Madonna's show, I do like her music!

He flew away right before she shows us the egg....the egg was laid after the quivering...when she is really puffed up and pushing...you can see how she relaxes after that final puff and push
I am absolutely positively speaking to the upstairs neighbors Monday.....
the banging, thumping, jumping and kid-squealing.... I have reached my limit. Those two children upstairs are old enough to be made aware of some consideration, as are the parents !! It started out with just one child, but another mother and daughter have been added to the mix

Prayers also that Shep brings food to Belle. Brings food also when egg/s hatch to chick/s. Lord you created this pair of Eagles so I am asking for your help in the younger which is the male to help him know to bring food to Belle and family. Have been trying to get caught up on the blog. Not sure, but think I missed a lot because of speed reading.
I do see that Belle has laid the first egg, though! Congratulations, Belle & Shep!
Hoping and praying that Shep starts bringing food, and learns quickly how to incubate!
We finally got an electrician to come out and install a grounded plug in the wall behind our entertainment center. Tried to re-schedule the guys who pick up & recycle old TVs today, and re-schedule the Geek Squad coming out to install the new TV. Best Buy gave me the phone # for the Geek Squad, but kept getting a recording that said that number cannot be reached from my area. It's an "800" number! Went online and found out that I need to go in to the store to pay for the old TV pickup anyway, so will do the whole thing tomorrow morning. Geesh!
We listened to some of the Super Bowl on radio, but I fell asleep. Kubby went to bed early because he was sleepy too, but he did hear the final score on the radio news.
Hoda, so sorry to hear of your dog bite! Hope it's feeling better. I know you will keep an eye on it, and go to the doctor if trouble develops.
I'm getting pretty tired, so think I'll call it a day. Praying for all those on the prayer list, and especially for Robyn, who truly must need a long, uninterrupted, deep sleep! The night light comes on a bit before sunrise and I think for awhile at dusk.

Need to try to figure out what I am doing this week. I haven't touched my plans because they are so messed up from last week. I hope I don't get a visit today.

Egg Laying

From reading back, it sounds like there is some question about whether Shep was in the nest when Belle laid the egg. I was watching and he WAS there when she laid it. I get all the posts to my inbox so can easily see the times and at 5:26 - 5:27, we were all commenting that Belle was trembling and puffed out. Shep was standing on the rails at about 10ish at that point, but he was looking out not watching Belle. He left shortly after she quieted, maybe at 5:30 or 5:31. At 5:34 Belle stood up and we saw an egg. So he was definitely there, though who knows if he knew what was happening.

WOW looking at the forecast and we have clear weather ahead except for a snow shower on Wednesday which probably just means a few flakes. We have 3 built in snow days and we will lose them if we don't use them. Boo hoo. I don't want to jinx the nest, but I sure would like my snow days!

The kids will be eggcited to see the egg. I told them we would start a countdown to when it hatches. I guess I will add that to my "morning meeting". ☺ The info. on the OC says 35 days, right? For some reason I thought it was 32 but I guess it's an "about" 35 days.
So what was everyone's favorite commercial last night? I only watched til the 3rd quarter. I loved the M&M commercial, the chevy commercial and the 2 dog commercials, Dorito's and Volkswagon.
oh at least I think the red car was a Volkswagon...hmmm...guess I missed the point of the commercial LOL!

I believe that they were brought together and God created them and put the instinct in them to find a mate and help them with the nest. Make HP and she lays the egg/s and he helps by relieving her and bringing in food. I B E L I E V E !

boy did I mess up yesterday I was scheduled at 10 but thought it was 1030 I guess teh 830 all week and mostly 830 put the 30 part in my brain and I thought 1030 OH Well I have only been late for work one time in 22 years they will just have to forgive me
