Thank you Steve for the new thread.

Margy it was a joy to have you call us over. (:

Paula I read your comment that you would have raw oysters with Gene. lol

wvgal_dana said...

Margy Blackwater eagles were very busy in the nest today. One stayed while the other flew in and out. Getting materials and flying back in. They stayed for a long time. They are gone for now though.

Lori O. said...

Thank YOU, Steve, for the fresh, new thread.

Good morning folks!

hedgie said...

Thanks, Margy!

Be sure to check your Momster mail and read Irene's message about the Endangered Species Act. Unbelievable.

DanaWV---no, won't start puzzle until Christmas stuff is put away. Need either the dining room table or the coffee table to do it on, and both are "occupied" by Christmas things.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Would you believe I have read the blog already. LOL However, I have not read the paper, so off to do that.

I'll be baaaaaaack!

hedgie said...

Hello to CarolAnne, Sharon and Delphia! BirdGirl, please tell us it is WARM in AZ. We'll be jealous, but it will give us hope!

hedgie said...

There's an eagle in the BW nest again.

Bird Girl said...

Oh yes, it's warm in AZ :) Today is supposed to be about 74 in my area, overnight will be around 48.

Hi, Everyone,
Sorry I have not been here for so long! I apologize! Have been incredibly busy, and haven't had enough time to really catch up here. Have to run and give Emma a bath right now, because she really needs one, and she has a 10 a.m. vet appt. to catch up on some vaccinations that are due. Also, she has a couple of lumps I'm really concerned about. One is on her rib cage, about the size of a pencil eraser, that I hope is something like a wart. The other may be a swollen gland, at the top of her right hind leg, just in front of it. This one's the size of a 50-cent piece. There isn't a matching bump on the other side. Please say some prayers that they are nothing serious! They don't seem to bother her, but it REALLY bothers me that they are there! Thanks in advance for the prayers.

I will be back after Emma & I are back home. Hope you all don't exceed the speed limit, so I can catch up! Have been praying for everyone, and all the new concerns as I find them here. Love all of you! BBL... :o]

hedgie said...

Thanks, Delphia! Send it our way!

Good luck on new baby, Lynne1!

Hi, sweet T-bird!

HURRAY---Andy is back! Missed you gal. Was going to let my fingers do the walking this afternoon to hunt you down!! My bet is that Emma's lumps are just little fatty tumors. Granddog Harley just had three removed last month. Keep us posted.

Bob, SO glad you posted that link to the pics......I couldn't find them anywhere---the couple on BW just made me want to see them all. Off to look at them now!!

Bob Quinn said...

Off to a meeting. Will check back in later.

I have finished my coffee. Going to try to get my day started a wee bit earlier than usual. I am such a slow mover in the mornings. Retirement has ruined me! LOL

Shopping to do today and helping Jack load stuff back into the attic.

Later Gators! Have a good one!

hedgie said...

Grandgirl's school bus driver put the bus in a ditch this AM.....apparently no one was hurt---and the girls weren't on the bus yet. Thankfully Jess had driven to the end of the lane and they were able to wait in the car while another bus was coming. This BETTER be this driver's swan song---nothing but trouble with him all year.

wvgal_dana said...

Ok Grannyblt nephews wife in hospital having their 2nd baby. May he/she be healthy.

CarolAnne that was beautiful.

Bob will have to see pics after I get back.

Heading for Wally world before they put my calendar back. I have the receipt.

Well I think this is my year for INSURANCE. Got a letter my insurance is not insuring any even new moble homes. Thank God they at least sent me a letter. I need to find someone else and maybe switch my car too so I get the double beneift. Been with this company with cars since 1969. Another grrrr
but I'll put it in Gods Hands because HE knows more than me.

See you later-God Bless Everyone!

paula eagleholic said...

DanaWV, you may want to try Erie Insurance...

Sandi said...

Checked in during my planning period to find a new thread. Thanks for the heads-up Margy!
Bob, your photos are magnificent! I always thought eagles were very territorial and would chase others away but I see a number of them in the Blackwater pics and recall reading on the WCV site that the area where the NBG eaglets were released has many juvenile eagles. Are they only territorial if another eagle comes near their nest but they co-exist peacefully in the same general area with regard to food supply?

stronghunter said...

Yay, Andy is back. Do we have contact information for her? I don't think she is on our list. Maybe I just overlooked it.

paula eagleholic said...

Sandi, that would be correct regarding the eagles.

Nice pic on the BWE nest, happy to finally be able to see the entire nest!

GOOD MORNING...
Good to hear from Ms. Bookworm. ANDY, I think we need to change your name to Ms. Secretary...bet you don't have much time for books, now:)
I think a SILVER ALERT has been sent out for you...we will have to tell the authorities that the MISSING MOMSTER has been found!

It was 15° when I got up at 8am and is now, only 20°. Our eagles aren't very active when it is this cold. As Lynn said, they may have difficulty finding fish in the icy waters...don't think the river is frozen over yet.
The water we put out for the animals is completely frozen over and I had forgotten that cats like a drink of water, especially after eating a bowl-full of Whiskas. Mama cat kept looking up at the door after she was fed and I finally realized that she needed a drink. The kittens came and helped her drink all of the water and I had to fill up the bowl a second time. Need to take care of the bird's water, too.

I forgot to tell you last night, while Gene was eating his oysters, he found a tiny, baby pearl. I wrapped it up and brought it home. I was kidding him earlier about finging a pearl and never dreamed he would find one!
Getting ready to go into GG's.

YAY, Andy checked in. Hope Emma is a-okay. If they could only talk.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Gang,
Have only a minute or two to let you know that Emma got a clean bill of health from our vet, Dr. P.! The tiny bump is a sebaceous cyst (like a whitehead on one of our faces)--no need to mess with it. The doc aspirated the bigger lump, and it's a fatty deposit. No problem either. Doc made a "map" of Emma on her chart, and noted both bumps, and will keep watching them every time she visits. E. is caught up on ALL her vaccinations for a full year, and rabies for 3 years. She also got her anal glands cleaned out while we were there--too yucky a job for me to do! She's in perfect shape, THANK GOD!!! Thank you for your prayers for her! OK--now she's DEMANDING some lap time so she can take a nap! Will be back later. She was SUCH a good girl for the vet, I can't say no to her! (By the way, she now weighs 37.8 pounds--perfect lap size!)

Ms Bookworm said...

Oh--Jo, so glad to hear that the pains in your thighs & back are gone! Praise God! OK--BBL... :o]

I'm back. What a debacle. Thry were late getting here, so I was late gettimg THERE. Then they didn't SEE me sitting in the waiting room....duh! I always sit in the same place. Then 1st pickup van was full; had to wait for a second. He had to go to the east side of town to pick up someone else....who never answered door or phone. By the time we got back out this way, the high school was letting out. Cop stops traffic while 200 buses depart the school. ARGH!!!!! And then we are stuck behind some discharging students the rest of the way home.
Beginning to think it would be easier to drive myself......if only gas prices would drop.

hedgie said...

I think all this calls for a BERGER cookie!!!!

hedgie said...

Pooks pop-up cam looks live, tho' there's no movement.....don't think it's the up-close backyard view. She uses YouTube now for vids.

hedgie said...

Andy, glad that Emma has a completely clean bill of health!!!
LOL---37# perfect for a lap???!!! Not for this chick!!! I'll stick to 10#! I know I'd be too numb to nap if I had that much weight on my lap/legs!!!

DanaMo said...

Yes, glad Emma's little lumps were "nothing". Always good news. Well it's cold here so I'm going to go snuggle with the flying labs and wait for the news to come on.

I shall try to live with it!

I need my feet UP now...... ♥

Hoda said...

Glad for the eagle report...short visit but a visit all the same...thanks for the reports.

LYNN, a BERGER COOKIE is definitly the way to deal with the transport complications today....sorry you had to go through that...

JO does not have hip pain and that is also very good news...I am relieved that you are going to the doctor to deal with the cough JO.

EMMA is alright...terrific. THANKS ANDY for letting us know...it must make it easier for you too...

What a crowded yoga class...I think many have made New Year's resolutions...I hope it lasts. There was one young man who had so many emotions as we did a deep hip opener...it broke my heart, he started to cry...it is said that so many of our emotions are stored in our hips...a young twenty something young man who seems so very confused and vulnerable...he does have a beautiful smile though and he always tells me a greeting of sorts even when I cross paths with him on the street out of the yoga studio...I think it is difficult to be twenty something now, so very different from our generation...

The rain in town is translating to snow on the mountains, not that we can see the mountains clearly, as we have thick fog...valley fog they call it...please God I hope people stay within bounds when they go skiing and not try to go off bounds and into dangerous terrain...

This kind of weather makes me want to eat comfort foods...I did resist going for dessert though and I feel good about it...later on I will roast a yam and put some butter on it...I have cinnamon also and it will be delicious.

I have not read the news today so need to go do so before too much longer, as they say in Québec, "turn on the radio to find out if the rest of the world is still alive"...cup of tea first though, BBL

hedgie said...

Jo...is it a hiatal hernia?? I have a little one, too. I just take an OTC acid reducer daily and chew tums as needed to control it. Prop up the head of the bed on blocks if yiu start getting regurgitation when sleeping!

Sandi said...

Hoda dear, no hard feelings all! I didn't want to have to admit to everyone that I don't read every single email from this wonderfully prolific group of folks, but now I have! When I'm retired (4 1/2 more years but who's counting), I look forward to having the time to read anything and everything, follow a gazillion different eagle cams, falcon cams, moose cams, and hummingbird cams, play tennis every day, and maybe even take up yoga!! For now, I have a hard enough time just keeping up with the blog! Sharon has already generously agreed to "keep me" despite my shortcomings! Rest assured, I have no intention of unfriending you on Facebook! =D

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Hoda, I don't think any of us thought to mention that Blackwater is a still cam! We all knew it was, LOL.

We have been watching Blackwater as long as we have been watching our cam...and some of us before that time as well. Lisa is a great webmaster at BW and does a great job keeping everyone informed of the happenings there. She has answered many a question from us as well...we just love her!

They only have a still cam, because they are a donor supported site and cannot afford the live stream. They have an osprey cam too, which should come back online soon. When the osprey leave for the season, eagles and other birds use the nesting platform for hunting, preening, HP, etc ☺

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Sandi, I don't have time to read them all either, and I'm the group admin, LOL.

Hoda said...

SANDI, so very grateful you won't unfriend me from facebook!!! You need to be a hot tempered Egyptian to do so and then my repsonse becomes to send you a friend request right back!!! LOL!!! You are sooooo funny!!! Thanks for the laugh.

Thanks PAULA for your comment about Blackwater. I think you all hold them in high esteem and that means I follow suit...I will become familiar with their site...

Kay said...

LOL SANDI, I'm retired but cannot ever catch up with all there is to do ! Skimmed back, enjoying videos and pictures sooo much !

ANDY, good news regarding Emma. Turns out LYNN is a good medico whether for us or our four footed family members !

LYNN, it's a shame there is always one snafu or another with the treatments or transportation ! Perhaps I missed it, but did you and Christie enjoy the visit at Frank's yesterday ?

hedgie said...

Yes, Kay, we did have a nice visit yesterday---but we froze to death!! Their house was SO cold....electric fireplace in dining room, woodstove insert in living room, but I don't think they had the heat pump on at all......it was frigid. When we got in the car, we amped up the seat heaters full blast, as well as the heat!!!!

Lolly said...

I just want to say that I really do NOT like shopping. Purchased two wedding gifts off of their registries. Pleased with what I bought! Then I found a lamp for myself. A $200 floor lamp for $39. Woweeeeee! It looks just like I wanted too. Jack just needs to put it together.

Sandi said...

Hoda, Egyptian - no, but hot-tempered - sometimes! Also, I have never been able to endear myself to the Blackwater eagle cam, even though it's the closest one to my home, b/c of the 15 second delay. Impatient would be another adjective that describes me! I hate waiting the 15 seconds for the picture to change; I need LIVE!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Sandi, when our cam started, it was a 5-second refresh. Then they changed it to a 30-second refresh, I almost stopped watching. It was like watching paint dry. I am so grateful I didn't give up!

Hoda said...

LOLLY that is the kind of shopping I likee...gifts off of a registery, thqt means they want it...and from 200$ to 39.Bargains are great...

SANDI my refrence about Egyptian and hot tempered was my sister who unfriended me on FB!!! LOL!!! It took her a couple of weeks to respond to my new friend's request...LOL!!!

Sandi said...

Hoda, I remember reading your story about your sister unfriending you on FB; bet she was surprised to get a new friend request from you and that helped her to realize how ridiculous she was being! Lolly, what a bargain on the lamp! You're so right about not just replacing the shade. The last time I went to buy a replacement shade for a lamp, I realized that I could buy an entire lamp for what I was going to pay for the shade!! No brainer!!
Jo, glad to hear that the pain in your back and legs is better. What causes a hernia and why/how would it cause coughing?
Lynn, sorry to hear about the mixed up mess at your treatment today - don't they know you have places to go, things to do, and people to see??
Speaking of things to do, I've got schoolwork to do so, better get busy! Stay warm and have a good evening all!

Good Lord!!! I just read about a mother in Oklahoma who had a baby with her New Year's eve. She lost her young husband to cancer on Christmas day and two chaps broke into her house New Year's eve. She shot and killed one of them...What a trauma it must be for her...the parents of the other chap, who happens to be 29 years old, turned him in...Crazy eh?

Good evening folks. I see we had a short afternoon visit by our eagle couple. My day was a lot busier that I anticipated. Nephew's wife posted on Facebook she was in labor and delivered an 8lb boy 3 hours later. Then I went to Walmart for some needed items. Got some bathroom scales that don't work! Then my WV cousin called to say he & wife were coming to town, so they visited here then with Mom and I just got home from dinner out. I had potato soup that was wonderful. Most of my days aren't so eventful...and everything was good.

grannyblt said...

Whoops...everything was good except the bathroom scales. They will be returned tomorrow.

Costume Lady said...

LOL, GBLT...my scales don't work right, either. Everytime I step on it, it weighs 25 lbs. more than it should...imagine that!;)

Hoda said...

Let's all do this...SISSY suggested it on Facebook. Way to go BEV.

1.Google the song that was the top of the charts the week you were born. 2.Find it on youtube.3. Post it on the blog.

Here is mineButtons and Bows by Dinah Shore

grannyblt said...

LOL, my old scales say I weigh less than I did a year ago--if that is right, how come I can't get into some of my clothers?? The new ones keep saying error, and the reason is that I'm not standing still or weigh more than 350. I am old enough to know when I am standing still, and I may have gained some weight but I'm quite a ways less than 350.

Costume Lady said...

GBLT...haven't you heard that clothes that have been hanging in the closet for a year, have a tendency to shrink. It has happened to many of us, on here:)

Hee Hee.....I still have clothes too big for me. Jack calls me baggie britches!

I fell asleep and woke to Jack putting the lamp together. I really like it,. It is heavy and looks good. Woweeeeeeeee! Can not believe I found such a bargain.

This topped the charts the week I was born.

Lolly said...

Whoa..what happened to my post. It disappeared.

The story about the young mom shooting the intruder is scary, but she definitely did the right thing!

LOLLY the link did not come through... try again.

I am glad JACK has put the lamp together.

Hernia's are caused by a weakness......an abdominal or inquinal hernia will push against a weak area in the mesentery until it pushes through and bulges into areas where it shouldn't. Can become strangulated if it stays in the hole too long, resulting in gangrene and sepsis and emergency surgery. A hiatal hernia is where a weakness in the esophagus allows the stomach to ride up into it----which will cause coughing AND usually really bad heartburn. I remember my Dad saying that the pain from the hiatal hernia was worse than his heart attack. Luckily, mine is small enough to not cause pain.

grannyblt said...

I didn't know that about clothes. I guess I'll have to start storing them in drawers or such so they don't shrink. Must be those hangers.........LOL

Lolly said...

It was there (again) and it disappeared again. Wow!

Lolly said...

I have a hernia. No problem from it now, but I had one episode with it that was very painful. You need to raise the head of the bed and never lie down after eating.

Hoda said...

I get it LOLLY!!! LOL the case of the disappearing song...

Costume Lady said...

GBLT, it is amazing the things you learn on this Blog. It was DANAMO who put us wise to that fact!
Although, she is about the size of a cake of soap, so what would SHE know about clothes shrinking;)

Going to try again

Lolly said...

I see it. Now when I post this, will it still be there? I am afraid to hit publish. lol

Lolly said...

whoa! It is still there!

Costume Lady said...

I too have a Hiatial Hernia and the discomfort I have had in years past was akin to a heart attack, as I would imagine it would feel. I, so many times was so close to asking Gene to take me to the ER.
My doctor put me on AcipHex and after my system got used to it, seldom do I have any problems. I do have Gerd from the hernia, but the pills take care of that, unless I eat or drink too much.
AcipHex was very expensive, so I am now taking Omeprozole...generic. It's been 2 years now, and it works just as well and is 90% cheaper! My bed is raised by two bricks (one on each side).

Not true Wanda! I have had my clothes shrink in the closet and I am about 15 lbs more than my "usual" or "pre 40" weight. My favorite clothes are made of spandex!

I had a very nice nap. Boomer was literally lying on top of me length wise and Java covered the feet. Along with 2 blankets I woke up sweating. Just how I like it! Now it's almost time to go back to bed. Andrew and Aric are both still out so I won't go into a deep sleep until they are both home.

Good night everyone!

Hi,

I've done a quick skim on this evening's posts and see that there was an eagle visit this afternoon. I was busy with Hunter at that time. He had two homework assignments for me to check before he went out to play.

Andy, on anal glands--I can't imagine doing that. Kathryn had it done when she got the dogs groomed once and poor Flash ended up with an awful infection.

It turns out that the groomers do it from the outside and the vets do it from the inside. Flash will not have his glands expressed by anyone but a vet ever again.

Susan has been enjoying bluebird visits to her feeder. I copied one of her pictures and will post it on my blog.

Danamo I can just see the dogs on you to cute ♥

Oh,Sandi, do not feel bad if you can't read everything on here and on Momster mail even when you retire. This is one prolific group.

I was familiar with it mostly by The Highwaymen!

Whoops, double posted. Sorry.

stronghunter said...

Okay, posted the bluebird picture.

Susan has posted it on my Facebook page, but I am not sure you all can see it.

I saw the blu bird picture on FB very pretty Great capture who ever took it Loved it SHIRLEY

Hoda said...

Beautiful bluebird SHIRLEY...
I also loved th epicture of your cat dismantling a toy...so funny.

LYNN I remember this song too from when I was younger. I loved cowboy films in Egypt.

Costume Lady said...

That bluebird is beautiful! Does Susan have berry bushes that may attrack the bluebirds?
I keep forgetting to plant some berry bushes in hopes to attrack them to our property. Gonna put that reminder on a sticky note, right now!

Costume Lady said...

I guess I could raise mealy worms and put them in a feeder to attract the bluebirds...but, other birds would probably get them before the bluebirds.
I think Lynn has a pyracantha berry bush/plant that attracts those 12 bluebirds she saw a few weeks ago. I saw a plant similar to that, but it had red berries...it was beautiful. I have no idea what it was. Guess I could look in a catalog.

Well, I tried to find out what song was No. 1 on my birthday and the chart did not go back that far. Geesh. I know I found it when we did this before. I am not THAT old.

stronghunter said...

Susan lives in an apartment. I do not know if there is a berry bush or not.

Hello and good night, dear ones. Another super busy day for me here. So much to do and never enough time to get it done. I am working on getting caught up and organized in the next week. Pray for me!!! I need all the help I Cain get!

Today was work and then lots of errands. Did Lolly mention hating shopping? I hear you loud and clear. Where we live is remote and it is about a 35 - 40 minute drive to larger stores. Have to make a week long list and try to get it done in one trip. I always forget something!

So I am off to bed, cuz I am exhausted! Love and hugs to all of you. I apologize for being out of touch so much.....

Night. xoxo

Hoda said...

Thank you about the week of birth songs...Both LYNN and SHIRLEY have said we did it before...we do not need to do it again...I thought it was new, and it is new to me...but not necessary to repeat. It takes sometime to find the songs and we can just move on...

Susan says she has shelled sunflower seeds in her feeder. She thinks maybe she should put some mealworms in it, that maybe the bluebirds would like that better.

I am so sorry for not making a link. one of my New Year's Resolutions. This is the Ustream link for the NC eagles. Two eggs in nest and expected to hatch Jan. 8-10.

Hello everybody!

stronghunter said...

Hoda, I was kind of interested in finding the song. But the thing only went back to 1946. I don't remember what song it was I found before.

I have been researching bluebirds. Got George very interested when I played the call. He was looking for that bird he heard.

I have a confession to make. I broke a Momster rule this morning. I tried my hardest to fall. I got up from the kitchen table and triped over one of the
Christmas decoration boxes. I really did not fall. I caught myself on the door frame and went down rather gently on my knees. My shoes also left a 3 foot long "brake" mark on the white tile. LOL However, tonight I am sore all over. Really strained my muscles. Taking advil tonight, for sure.

I keep waiting for the American news sources to report that the German chap who went on a car burning streak has a Canadian connection. In 2010 he was in British Columbia living in Vancouver and he got in trouble with the law and a court oredered psychiatric assessment declared him to be autistic...not criminally responsible... He was in the papers here with the car fire vandelism...

Lolly said...

Shirley...I did it and it went way back. I am 1944.

stronghunter said...

No problem, Suzan. It's easy to copy and paste an address.

stronghunter said...

Where did you go for the info, Lolly? There are several sites.

Lolly said...

Shhhh...watching TRAIN.☺

stronghunter said...

Oh, Lolly, be careful. We do not need more falls.

I chased the basset hounds out of the kitchen this evening. They love to be underfoot and I am afraid I will fall over one of them.

I spent many years with a basset hound in the kitchen, but now I have two. They like to get right in my way. It would bad for me and the basset if I fell over one of them.

When Laurel and family are here for a few days, Bosco comes. I am always shooing him out of the kitchen. They say "poor Bosco!", but rather poor Bosco than poor Lolly falling!

Sorry, I posted then read backwards to catch up! So....if I hang in my closet will I shrink?

We have a newborn in the family. Congratulations to the new parents!

MemaJo, wish you felt better. Soon, I hope.

Lolly, what a close call. That could have been nasty. So glad you are ok.

And Lynn, what a day you had. That is extra stress you do not need.

Hope everyone else is ok. Please stay warm. Winter has arrived.

Have a good evening.

Hoda said...

LOLLY OH NO!!! You know the rule NO FALLING!!!...I am sorry you are sore. Do you have epsom salt? Would you consider a bath with epsom salts before bed...put a few cups as in three cups and soak for 20 minutes...any bruises?I am glad you did not hit your head...doorframes can however be very unforgiving...

Hoda said...

NC SUZAN congratulations on the new baby in the family. Thank you for the link and the dates of the first hatchings...

stronghunter said...

Can't access that link, Lolly. This is just not my night to get the info.

Thanks for trying to help.

NCSuzan said...

Hoda, LOL. No, no one in my family had a baby. Grannybit's nephew and wife had a baby boy today!

hedgie said...

Wanda, my pyracantha berries were red before they froze! Yesterday the bb's were busy in the mulch over the pet cemetery....don't know what the attraction was there.

Lolly said...

Wonder why you could not get it, Shirley. I clicked on my link and promptly went to it. Hmmmm????

No Epson Salts here, Hoda. Thanks for the suggestion. I will see when I take a shower if there are bruises. I really strained the muscles in my thigh. Right after it happened my leg was shakey and "sorta" gave out on me a couple of times. However, I went on and went shopping and had no problem.

Hoda said...

NC SUZAN, my bad!!! I knew about Granny's new addition but your post said,
"We have a newborn in the family. Congratulations to the new parents!"
you were talking about our blog family...my bad...

Hoda said...

I am so sorry LOLLY...sudden stretching of muscles brings on the shaking and the experience of giving way...I am glad you had no problems when you went shopping or since...you are on my prayer list.
