Thanks for the call over, CAROLANNE! BTW, can you buy riding snow blowers in Wisconsin? People who have lots of grass to mow buy riding mowers; people who have lots of snow to shovel should be able to buy riding snowblowers, don't you think??
DANAWV, Bandit has never been a lap dog and has never liked to be picked up; we adjusted to that long ago. But, in the winter, we cover both dogs with a big beach towel at night while they're in their beds (we sleep with a cool mist humidifier in our room so it's pretty chilly. They probably don't need covers since they have fur, but they seem to like it). Lately, if Bandit is in his bed sleeping and we try to either cover him or uncover him, he'll snarl, bark, and even try to bite. We call his name loudly and then talk to him before we do it so we won't startle him (he's gotten hard of hearing as well), but this behavior is new and upsetting. He will also go after Bella as soon as she enters the same room with him and I'm really afraid that he will bite her. Basically, we all (incl. Bella) just avoid Bandit unless he approaches us and acts like he wants some attention.

SANDI - our riding mowers do come with snow blower attachments, plus you can get a clear plastic cab so you are out of the wind & blowing snow. We know how to 'live it up' here in da north. LOL
I sent an email to Steve asking him to explain to me why we don't have the infrared light at night like we did in other years. I ask him is something wrong does it need fixed.
Here is his answer:The old camera had an array if IR lights around it, giving a good night vision picture. The new camera is a more advanced high definition unit that provides a far better picture, but does not have the IR lights. We have the iris all the way open, which allows all of the ambient light in at night. When the moon is out, that serves to light the nest. In a new moon situation, the nest will remain dark. I knew in past years we could see at night real good.
Those of you who aren't on FB may not be able to access this link. But for those who can, let's hope Belle gets her eggs laid this week if this weather prediction is accurate!!

SANDI!!! Discuss with your vet the use of a cognitive dysfunction medication call Selegiline (brand name Anipryl). We've had many older dogs do very well on it. So sad when this happens to older pets. But it's worth a try!

Hmm...next Sunday for some snow? The 10 day from weather.com shows rain/snow and temps around 39. We have 3 built in snow days that I would like to use rather than lose, but I'm also good with the mild winter we've had so far. I just wish we had more sun. I did fall asleep, on the floor in the patch of sun yesterday. Weird huh? LOL
Adam's term paper is due tonight. Most expensive term paper ever written! LOL! That's okay though, he has worked hard and his tutor enjoyed doing one-on-one which is so different from the classroom experience. It's turned in electronically so it's due at 11:59:59 ☺

LYNNE, I remember Lynn telling me before where you lived (you said you were going hiking one day at Loch Raven) but I had forgotten! We lived in Perry Hall for 30 years before we moved to Bethany. I DID read your post about Anipryl and had actually done some reading about it in the past few days, while I've been trying to find out what might be going on with Bandit. Also did a Google search on the price - not cheap! Just spent $70 last week for Dasuquin, Forti-Flora, and potassium citrate, plus $40 the week before to buy him a Thundershirt. Every 3 months now we have to have a urinalysis done to check for new bladder stones ... it adds up so fast! Still, if the meds will help, I'd be willing to try them. Thanks for the advice!

Oh HODA, the thought of another intruder is sickening. Hope it's not the case.
LORI the thinking is it is the same intrudeer that landed in the neston the 24...they send their greetings to us and wish us all a good season...I like dropping in there for a visit and will continue to do so...They are great eagle lovers and observers.

Sandi, yep, that medication is expensive, but it's a human drug, so the vet can script is out for you. Check around for the best price at your local pharmacies.

Kay, we don't know if the trespassing eagle is still around, or if it was a male or female...no way to know for sure. JudyE posted that it was Shep that drove him/her out, but I was watching on the still cam and couldn't tell for sure if it was Shep. Grateful we still have the still cam, but we do miss so much.

Lynne2 are we talking about the same day with the stranger. I was watching that on the Live cam and was feeling pretty sure about it being Shep who drove the stranger out.JudyE was repeating what I had said she wasn't watching that day, but the live cam was up. That was on January 24th. I know I had the live cam because I had sound and could hear calling out before and after it happened. I did not take pictures of the actual confrontation because I was too stunned, but I was watching. I don't know if the visitor was male or female, but I'm 97% sure that it was Shep.

Along with tax season, my life has suddenly gotten much busier......
We are attending a new church which is a further drive away and this pastor is really speaking God's Word like I've not heard in a long while.
Dennis really enjoys it, too and wants to go back for their Sunday night studies and their Wednesday night studies..............so along with our small group here on Tuesday night, it takes up a lot of nights!! It is all good stuff and we are learning and growing, which is good.
So......now I have to go take my shower for tonight's get together. We are having a dinner tonight, which should be nice. Italian night......and Dennis is making homemade (of course) garlic rolls....
The drive with those rolls in the car will probably drive me crazy.

Oh, Linda, the drive with the rolls could be devastating. The bread baking yesterday drove me crazy! Hee Hee, but he later brought me a half slice of the end of the load, warm, buttered and with a glass of white wine.

Lynn, I did sleep lke a baby last night.
Your question, LYNN about the comparison of pain BEFORE and AFTER surgery. Pain after surgery wast the worse! Although, each day it was less and less. Today, I was able to get into the tub and have a refreshing stand-up bath. Felt so good!
It is 60 and sunshiney...think I am going to head out to work a little. Heading to the herb garden to clean it up. Seeing lots of daffodil bulbs waving tall bloom stalks! Won't be long.
Lynne2-I forgot to say that there are pictures on my DanaMo picture blog of the stranger. I think size-wise everyone thought the eagle was large.
Ohhh, a wee little bird just hit the window, I saw Annie, who was outside jump over there really quickly. Jack got Annie in, she was looking at the bird. It is not dead and on its' feet . We will give it a while to recover and then check on it again.

Home from the grocery store and see we have both eagles in the nest. Bought new batteries for my wireless keyboard in case that contributed to my problem earlier this week. LOLLY, my batteries were only $5.99 for an 8-pack, much cheaper than the one you have to buy!! =)
Shep has poofed looks like Belle is back to standing in the middle of the nest.
Comcast has to fix the problem, not OC.
DANAWV, I would interpret that to mean it's a Comcast problem and they'll need to send someone out to NCTC to fix it. Hopefully tomorrow!!

Sandi when our dog was old and started the biting. We took her to the vet and she checked her out. She was biting because she was in pain the vet said. Could this be Bandits problem?

yes DanaWV, pain can cause that. So can lack of vision and hearing, and cognitive dysfunction. That's why it's best left to the vet to decide why it's happening.
DanaMO, I just remember seeing a viedo of the eagle swooping down to chase off the trespasser, and I watched several times...no way for ME to tell if it was Shep or Belle. In that particular video, the head wasn't really visible , and it happened very fast. But that was the only thing I saw...maybe there were other pictures captured where it is clear it WAS Shep.
DANAWV, I had run out of Bandit's Dasuquin for arthritis and was trying something that I found at the pet store, but recently decided to order more Dasuquin. Also bought FortiFlora to help with his colitis. I want to give both of those things another week to see if there's an improvement. The following week, I'll take him to the vet to see what he has to say. Wouldn't it be nice if they could tell us what's wrong?
