Angie was teasing me last nite about being a people greeter at work that I should tell them if they want the customer to shop they need not make me one because I would talk their ears off HAHA LOL

Did you know if you have a savings account. Do not deposits or taking money out within a year. They should write you a letter but some don't. That is how monies get into that booklet, "How to Find Money".

See you at dinner!

Boy, DanaWV, that is some nasty bug that got hold of you! Hope you're feeling a little perkier today. ♥

hedgie said...

Good morning. Hmmmm...no visit from our birds, huh?

DanaMo--sounds like a long, boring evening for you!

DanaWV, glad you are perking up!

Shirley, hope you have a great bowling session today.

Love the "Dog Ate My Homework" sign in book!!!!

Andy, if you are lurking---Jim got along real well with first cataract surgery; other eye is the 25th. BTW---good coup on the phone company deal!

Yikes, Shirley--sure glad you double-checked that reservation! One night would not have worked!

Fog is burning off, slowly. Only 23° now. Looks like a little frozen fog on a couple of pines!

hedgie said...

Today is the 2nd listed possible hatch day at Jordan Lake. Thankfully, cam is okay this AM!

GOOD MORNING,
EVERYONE.

I see the live cam is working, but there's no sign of the pair right now.

What did you settle on for the intruder's name??

C(°Ù¿°)D Jim

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Jim, Shep is the feller's name! What are you doing up so early?? LOL!

hedgie said...

A very interesting factoid that Kay discovered, and I checked with MArgy---she had forgotten to mention it: Rep. presidential candidate Rick Santorum was born and spent early years right here in Martinsburg! Should say his parents were living here WHEN he was born in Winchester hospital, which is where MANY locals went/go for medical care. His folks were both employed at the VA Hospital (his Dad a psychologist and his Mom a nurse) AND they lived on hospital campus just like MArgy's family did----she remembers him even tho' he was about 7 yrs. younger!! How is that for a small world?

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Neat story Lynn. It really is a smaller world and getting smaller all the time!

Judie said...

Good morning. Catching up.

Back about 30 years ago a friend of mine attended a teacher-parent conference. Teacher asked how the twins were doing. Friend (imagine stupified look) asked "What twins?" Well, daughter told teacher she missed two weeks of school because she had to help her mother care for the newborn twins. Creative child.

Lori O. said...

LOL, Judie!

We miss you!

hedgie said...

Eggs look intact, but Mom Jordan seems antsy.

hedgie said...

Oh, Judie, that IS a good one!!! ROFL---out of the mouths of babes....or just learning a bad life pattern???!!!!

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING LADIES AND JIM...

JIM, the new male eagle was named SHEP, in honor of SHEPHERDSTOWN.
Pretty good name, huh?

Glad your eye surgery went well and are you able to see without glasses now?

Costume Lady said...

I'm thinking that ZiCam, with it causing taste buds to go to sleep, might be a good way to lose weight. If something doesn't taste good, I will not eat it. Hmmm?
It must be powerful stuff to affect you like that!

Costume Lady said...

JUDIE, do you give homework to your students?

Linda said...

Good Morning Dear Friends!

Judie - Loved the twins story! The things these kids come up with. Great to see you, too. I was just about to ask what happened to you......

Lynn - hoping for another easy in and out day today. Think of how much time you have lost over the past weeks that could have been avoided. Or better yet, don't do that. You will just get furoius!

WVDana - One step at a time. The food will come as long as you are handling the liquids. Praying for a better day today.

Wanda - I was thinking the same thing about the zicam! We will try anything, if it is easy!!! Something tells me we wouldn't like that, either. If I am dieting and am eating less, I want to at least be able to taste it!

movin said...

The eye(s):
It's complicated with one lens replaced and the other rapidly getting as dark or darker than the first, and worse, lens was.

But generally I'm able to see a lot better...right after the surgery it tested 20/80, new lens, but when I looked through the pinhole, it was 20/40 and much clearer.

Since then the brain has been automatically adjusting, so I can read this type fairly well. I still have a lot of double imaging, etc., but the brain is blocking out a lot of it ... at least at certain distances.

I'm sure it will be even a lot better when the second one is replaced, and I will still need to wear glasses (have been since 1957) to bring the vision up to 20/20.

I'm very glad I had the first surgery, and I'm even more glad that the whole vision problem should soon be cured ... thank the good Lord.

C(°Ù¿°)D Jim

movin said...

I guess "Shep" is OK ... yeah. Not as good as the former resident male or his name, but it's not bad.

C(°Ù¿°)D Jim

wvgal_dana said...

Jim so glad you see you aboard the blog. Yes as Jim as Sharon and Wanda told you. Shep is the name that got voted for the male eagle.

Will let you know it is recorded. I think twice now in nest HP.

Linda said...

Amazing, Jim, how the brain adjusts, isn't is? Did you get lots of headaches while that was happening?

I am so sensitive to things that I probably would.....

Bird Girl said...

Morning folks.

Linda said...

Good Morning to you, Bird Girl!! Nice of you to pop in and say Hi!

wvgal_dana said...

Jim praises that the eye surgery on the first eye did so well. I am sure the 2nd will be just as good (:

Nice to see Judie drop in love the stories hee hee "twins".

Hi Delphia hope things on your end are doing as good as can be.

Bird Girl said...

Thanks! I see the nest fluff is in disarray this morning.

I have the joy and pleasure of having a trip to the dentist this afternoon to get five cavities filled. Yay. Necessary, I know, but I still really hate having that done.

I am sure you already heard this but I have not seen it on the blog:

Lori O. said...

Delphia, how great to see you here this morning! I'm so sorry about the 5 cavaties...five fillings all at once! That's a long time to be in the chair. I hope your dentist is good looking! lol

Linda said...

Thanks, Dana. I think Judy mentioned it the other day, but it is worth repeating for sure!

Good luck with those fillings, Delphia. Hope they are small ones in the same general area. Try not to slobber on anyone afterwards!

wvgal_dana said...

Eagle at Lake Jordan just turned eggs and turned herself around. So green pine now at her head. She didn't give a very good look.

Bird Girl said...

I have three together on one side, and two on the other. My doctor is nice, and funny, and they're going to make sure my mouth is good and numb, as well as help me along with some nitrous. The sound of the drilling drives me nuts, and actually hurts my ears; with nitrous, I won't care!

There will be a bit more work to be done on another visit, but at least I'll be partway there. It should help with some of the headaches I've been having, and sinus problems (I have very low sinuses, the roots of my teeth nearly go through the bone).

On a happier note, we have had some good fortune at my bird rescue last month and this month; my personal veterinarian chose my rescue group as one of their holiday donation drive recipients, and we received over $100 in cash donations! Also, a neighbor who just moved in discovered that their 8' hexagon aviary wouldn't fit in their yard, so they donated it to us. It can't be used for raptors, but it will be useful for songbirds or exotics. They're expensive aviaries, we're very lucky the neighbor is willing to just give it to us (I'm sure they will claim it on their taxes, since we are a non-profit).

wvgal_dana said...

Delphia two good donations. That is great help to the bird rescue.
Good to hear!!!

wvgal_dana said...

When I gave the two ramps and steps and other things to my Veterian. I did not take it off. I was happy they could use them. I enjoyed how they thought they could even lend the ramps out for the bigger dogs when they were sick. I am sure that all made Ed and Little Man happy too.

Linda said...

Great news about your rescue group, Delphia!!

Wanda - I didn't get any email updates that Robyn posted to the Caring Bridge site either. We just wait and pray things are going well for Tori. I, too, get nervous when something, however small, isn't posted.

Linda said...

What is on the menu for the Soup Kitchen today, Wanda?

Be careful not to over do it.....

Bird Girl said...

It takes a lot for charitable donations to actually be worth claiming. We're just happy that there such generous people still!

Linda said...

Okay, time to get some things done around here. Will check in with you fine feathered friends a bit later.....

Make it a great day..........

hedgie said...

Good to see you, Jim. All sounding positive!!

Delphia---I feel your pain. No dental work for me without the nitrous. HATE dentists!
Reiterating what I said on your old FB post about the donation---what a generous action by your vet and a successful day for your group!

Linda, I sure hope that your tax season is less stressful than last year was. Is that one client any better organized this time???

No Caring Bridge report yet from Robyn--I get them via email when she posts something new.

Linda said...

Hi Lynn! I am not sure which tax client you are talking about. A couple come to mind, but my guess is probably NOT!!

hedgie said...

Must tell you of some serious sadness in my heart. Our first house, which we bought new in '71 was a cute little bungalow with a full subterranean basement. We spent a lot of money waterproofing it and finishing it off. Ex's uncle was a fine carpenter and did a beautiful job. Of course, being undergorund, it still required dehumifier use during non-heating season.
We sold in '85; a big businessman bought it for his stepdaughter who had lived up the road from us and had just divorced (her ex worked at GM, too). She remarried, and then died about 8 yrs. ago. Her widower stayed in the house until her boys were out on their own. The stepdad apparently then rented it out to a male schoolteacher I knew. Learned not too long ago that the house is a total mold disaster, he is dying of cancer and has moved....and now it appears that the house is going to be demolished. I saw the industrial dumpster in the yard yesterday......my heart is sad and heavy......for many reasons.

hedgie said...

Linda, I was thinking of the one whose office you were spending a day a week at! Am I mistaken?

Linda said...

Oh, Lynn, that is very sad. Moisture definitely must be dealt with and when it is not, mold can be so very dangerous.

It is sad to see those memories of long ago demolished as well. So sorry.

Linda said...

It could have been, Lynn. At least everything there is organized and I won't have that challenge on top of my usual tax returns.

I do have some clients that send me an unorganized mess of papers for me to open and go through so close to the deadline date, that it makes me crazy. Those are the ones who usually owe taxes, but they don't ever seem to realize that we can do this early, figure out what the damage is going to be and file LATER!! Heck you can even file early and pay on April 15th.

I try to tell my clients that owe to try and get it to me sooner, so they can prepare themselves, but I just think they are procrastinators by nature........ I can understand that, as long as they don't put me in a tail spin when I am ready to wind down my tax season!

Linda said...

Tried to install my tax software yesterday for this year's tax season and got some sort of failure error! Ugh! Now I have to uninstall and reinstall to see if that is going to fix the problem......

hedgie said...

How irritating, Linda. Good luck. I lost Foxfire and still can't get it to reload on my laptop! Frustration!

Thanks for sympathizing with me!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lynn, it is so sad to see things come to an end! ((((HUGS)))) my friend.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Linda, do you by chance use TurboTax? I also got an error yesterday with that program.

Judie said...

Back for a quick visit. Need to get a syllabus finished today.

Jim, so glad to see you here and am happy to know the surgery has had a good outcome with improvements yet to come.

Delphia, congratulations on the donation for your group, very generous indeed. Hope the dental work is not too difficult for you.

Lynn, sorry about the former home. Always sad to lose the anchors in life. Hope today's transport and treatment are without aggravation.

As for the twin story, sadly the ability to fabricate was only an early symptom of more serious problems. My friend's daughter committed suicide 7 years ago and, at age 67, she is sole guardian caring for two grandchildren.

BBL

Linda said...

Sharon - I don't use Turbo-Tax, but I use a Professional Program called Pro-Series, but it is also an Intuit product, so that could possibly be something with their programs.

I tried to "online chat" with technical support, but got tired of waiting in the que. I looked up in the knowledge base, something about about CRC and saw the exact error I received. It said to uninstall and reinstall, so I will try that before contacting support again.

Hope you get yours fixed as well.

Linda said...

Oh, Judie, such a sad story indeed.

So many of these things we hear of in our walk of life, certainly makes us more appreciative of what we DO have. I thank God for many things I did NOT have............

I think of the challenges of two teenagers in the house years ago, but look back and am so thankful they were good kids and they were healthy.

I think and pray for Robyn and all she is doing to keep young Tori alive for such a long time. It would be such a blessing for her to see her child healthy and breathing normally, wouldn't it? We take so much for granted in this life without even thinking.

Hoda said...

I have not read back yet...

Good morning all.

I am running behind but did not feel good about not checking in so I turned the computer on to do just that...checking in all is well and I am a bit behind. Morning yoga today and then a Friends of the Library Meeting. I will run some errands and be back in the afternoon.
I hope everyone has a GREAT day.
I hope the transport goes well for LYNN and that JUDYE has a good time at work. I pray for TORI and some healing her way...{{{{{Group HUG}}}}}♥

Ms Bookworm said...

Good Morning, Everyone,

Lynn, sorry to hear of the mold problem with your first home. Sorry it is a complete loss! Bet there are some good memories left, though. (((HUGS)))

Good to hear from Jim this morning!
Glad the eye is working well. It is amazing how the brain compensates for vision problems. Wishing you a perfect outcome on the upcoming surgery on the other eye. Prayers!

LOL about the creative excuses kids can come up with about homework!

Have lots to do today around here--first priority is vacuuming, since the vacuum has a hepa filter. I'm sneezing my brains out! (Hope that's a slight exaggeration!LOL)

Glad you're feeling a bit perkier today, WV Dana! Prayers continue.
Try ripe bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. ("BRAT" diet is what the doctors always recommended when the kids/grandkids had the oogy-pies.)

Well, gotta run. Will be back later tonight after dinner. HAGD, everyone! (Hope we get a Tori update. Mega prayers continue for her and Robyn and family!) :o]

movin said...

Fortunately, except for once early on when I accidentally hit the right eye lightly, I have had no pain from the surgery, and no headaches either.

The double images, etc., have been a hassle from time to time, but not painful.

I could not help it, decided to read one post and it was of LYNN's story of the house!!! SO sad LYNN I could feel your warm connection to this place and your sadness is understandable...I do not know wht to say so I will send {{{HUGS}}}

hedgie said...

Judie, that is very sad about your friend and her daughter. Cannot even imagine having to raise youngun's at this stage of life.

Was thinking about downloading my turbo tax this afternoon.....think I'll wait a day or so!!!

hedgie said...

Thanks, Hoda. And Andy and Shar and the rest of you. It is pulling some heart strings, for sure. It's where I brought my babies home; it's where some dear pets are buried; I WASN'T carried over the threshold---I weighed too much, LOL! Plus, we had bought it about 3 months before we got married, so I had, of course, already spent weekends /days off work up here getting it ready for living!

Good Morning Friends - maybe this will be Happy News:

Linda hope you can get your tax program install without any problems this time around.

Judie that is very sad that lady took her own life and left children behind. Hard for her Mother to raise 2 grandchildren.
God Bless That Lady!!!

Lynn it is a hard thing when your life was apart of that house at one time. ((((((HUGS))))))

wvgal_dana said...

Now Jo where did you find that nice piece of information at?

Mema Jo said...

I know the feeling, Lynn! I remember when the apartment complex where hubby
and I started our lives as a family was demolished. The children were in their teens and they had so many memories there. One son has a wooden post he took and has it in his yard now.

I am visiting with Kristen this morning...Whoops - Lunch time!
Praying that JudyE's day at work goes well.

Good morning! Have read the blog, that always gets me here late. However, still enjoying my morning coffee.

Lynn, so sorry about the house, understand your feelings towards it.

We have now had 2.3 inches of rain. Supposed to rain some more today, but so far it is just cloudy.

Today is going to be a day of leisure and then we are going out to eat tonight...our favorite restaurant was closed yesterday that is why I chose to cook and go to Laurel's. It has worked out great! Birthday continues. LOL And, Sunday we are going to Michael's....the birthday continues. More fun!

In the meantime, we have to come up with an idea for a birthday gift for Michael. OMG! It is so hard to think of gifts for him. His birthday is next Wed. Gotta miraculously come up with an idea!

Lolly said...

Going to start my day!

Kay, I am getting back to walking today! Time to get back with the program. LOL

Have a great day!

Lynn, I hope your treament and transport went well today. Very sorry that you're so sad about your old house. It can be hard when things are out of our control.

Kay, how are you doing with your PT exercises? I was happy you said that they weren't causing you any pain. ♥

Judie, I feel so bad that I started out laughing about the girl who said her mother had the twins. What a tragic ending to the story. How are you???

Lolly, I hope your birthday week is still raging fabulous!

You perking up, yet, DanaWV? Hope so.

Kay said...

Getting a very late start today.:( Got hooked on a movie last night and up too late.

JUDIE, hilarious story about the non-existent twins, but the after story is very sad.

LYNN, too bad about that first house that meant so much to you. Sounds like it served you and the next family well, but I know it hurts to see it go.

LORI, the excercises are going well as far as I can tell--it's time to do today's set now ! My co-pay for the PT is 40 bucks each time, good motivation to get the most I can out of them !

JIM, happy to read about your improved eyesight ! You'll be so happy when you're back to 20/20. I know I was !

Wonder where Belle and Shep are today ?

HAGD all and I'll BBL. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Lynn,
Can you recover a piece of the old house (dumpster diving maybe)? Something you can incorporate into the yard as a decroative piece. Or maybe a piece of siding that can be framed and used as a mat with a picture of the house in the center.

CarolAnne said...

Hi everyone, just passing thru. Out doing yardwork. Who would ever think we'd be doing yardwork in January in Wisconsin. Picking up all that little stuff (windblown newspapers, etc) that are such an eyesore when the snow melts in the spring. Even have plants coming up (not good).

Good afternoon,

Lynn, I am sorry about the mold problems with your old home. Sad to lose a place where you have happy memories.

Judie, I hope you are making good progress with the syllabus. I remember the days of having to take out a calendar and fill in all of the class days before I could start to organize anything. Even when you don't change too many lessons, it is still a big chore, and it sounds like you make lots of changes.

Very sad about the woman who committed suicide. I wish blessings on anyone who has to raise a grandchild.

Jim, happy to learn that your vision is improving so much. I hope it continues.

hedgie said...

Finally back. AARGH!!! Hate being rushed like that.

The windows are out of the house...:( I will be keeping vigil as things progress since I go by there every day now.....I'm sure it won't take long. Driving myself tomorrow so will take my camera. Chris called her dad and told him. A real shame for a house that is only 41 yrs. old....yep, it was brand new when we bought it.

GREAT fact of the day, Jo!

CarolAnne, don't think I'll risk introducing any toxic mold spores to my weak lungs......bad enough dealing with what occurs naturally in the woods. Siding has all been painted a color I would never have used. It was white when built, and then we did it a pretty green, and finally a colonial blue. Now it's an obnoxious mustard yellow.

How old is Buddy now? He has lots of white on his head.

JudyE thanks so much for posting that video of Buddy. I have May 22, 2008 they are going up tree to get Buddy. So he is coming up on 4 years old. WOW! His white head still has a lot of dark in it. Well he is wet though. LOVED SEEING HIM♥

LYNN, hopefully you have some pics of the house as it was when you were there. That will be sufficient for your memory bank. Glad you don't plan to go anywhere near that mold !!!

Happy to hear what a mild winter you're enjoying in WI, CAROLANNE ! My sil's 86 year old mother lives in Eau Claire and we worry about her. March 1st she'll move out of her home and into an apt. at a retirement village. It will relieve the family for her to have assistance near by. Have some chores (very small) to do
and then feet up!

LOLLY, good on you for getting back to walking ! That will help you take off those holiday/wedding/birthday cheesecake pounds. I'm cooling it on the walking for now. Just did my 45 minute PT workout and I do feel better for it. These exercises will have to become a permanent part of my routine, but I look forward to adding walking, too. I do get some walking in on Malcolm/Seth days--tomorrow is the next of those.

Good afternoon everyone. Lately I have only been lurking here as I am a man of few words. I'm still alive and well but think I'll be getting hip replacements soon. Not sure which one to do first. Will be seeing orthopedic doc Tuesday with lots of questions for him. I sure am glad eagle family season is close at hand. Talk to you later. ROLL TIDE!!!

Kay said...

JO, great suggestion ! Perhaps JEWELS or Christie can get a door knob for each family member, if mold is no problem for them.

Kay said...

RED, I feel your pain. I thought I was heading for at least one hip replacement, too. However, the diagnosis was Bursitis. Have you already had x-rays and diagnostic tests ? Perhaps you'll get a better verdict than replacement, too !

Red your added to the prayer list.
Keep us informed please.

Tori's fever is slowly coming down, they may switch vents this evening (don't know what that means), the collapsed lung is healing, and Bobbi and Ted land at 6 this evening. Tori's dad Damien is there.

Thanks Lynn for the update on Tori and Bobbi and Ted's arrival. Continue prayers for her lung/s transplant ^j^

My 10:01am comment should have read:

I am sure you already heard this but I have not seen it on the blog:

RECALLED

Gas-X expiry date Dec. 20, 2012 or earlier (not Burrering

Oh I'm not deleting it with the dang "g" in there. You all know what I mean.

Oh heavens Lynn, I did not mean to suggest you personally go get something from the house. And if the mold is so extensive nothing that couldn't be bleached & cleaned well shouldn't be brought in anyone's home. Possibly there is an outdoor plant or some such to have as a keepsake to go with a picture.

Take care everyone!

Red, will be anxious to hear what the ortho says.....please be sure to let us know!

LOL---those cheap ol' doorknobs are nothing to want to keep!
I am very grateful that demolition will not disturb the cemetery area---we made it way back in one corner of the lot. Surely hoping they don't just bulldoze the nice green chainlink fence we put around the entire back yard.

Very good pic to use for your avatar, Shar!!

Thanks! I love it!

C/A---we moved the important plants with us to the new house! Still wanting to get my hands on one of them---a bridal wreath that had been slipped off Mom's that had been slipped off her Dad's, who brought it from his Iowa homeplace when he and Gram's bought their house in '21!!

Not to belabor the point, but....we never intended to live here. He was a Firestone store manager down home. 3 months before wedding he was transferred to the Hagerstown store.....so we decided it would be better to be closer. His folks told us of a new house for sale on their road (where he had been born and grew up)...so with a downpayment loan from my uncle, we snatched it up!

Jack has a door knob from his old home, only one he ever lived in growing up. It is a pretty glass doorknob. I have a brick from the torn down student center at TCU. Funny how we enjoy things like that.

CarolAnne, you are warmer than we are. It is 46, cloudy and misty, the kind of dampness that creeps into your bones. LOL We have a lot of yard work that need to be done, but it going to have to be done on a nicer day than today.

GOOD VIEW of eggs and both in nest at Jordan Lake!

hedgie said...

Switcheroo. Garbage seems to be gone now.

hedgie said...

Wiggle, wiggle---covered again.

hedgie said...

Oh, Lolly, wish I had a glass doorknob from my grandparent's house! They were so pretty! They also had push-button light switches on the walls!!

Lolly said...

Enjoyed seeing Buddy...and once again, he was just an egg when we visited the eagles nest in Norfolk. Have special feelings for him. Love how his head feathers are coming in white!

Lolly said...

I think I need a link to the Jordon eagle nest. I know I have it but have lost it in my long list of cams. Help....please.

Push button light switches Lynn I remember those. The house Ed and me brought on Fulkner Ave. in Martinsburg had the push button light switches.

Wonder if Wanda will remember them???

I must be getting better. First time I have felt hungry.

Really nice that Jim keeps popping in -- hope he keeps sneaking in the door.

Optimistic news of Tori. Prayers continue.

Lynn, sure wish there were something you could salvage as a memory keepsake.

Dana, glad you feel better.

Jo, so nice Kristen was there. How's Little Miss Meatball? Still a vegan? Maybe I just missed your updates. Sorry.

JudyE, thank you for the Buddy video. He's a keeper.

Good luck, Red. Keep us posted, please, even it is only a few words.

Syllabus nearly finished. Mostly the task of proof-reading. Hope to get it posted on-line by tomorrow.

Follow-up. The first grand child, female, is twelve and has such serious mental health and rage issues that she had to be placed in residential, home style, foster care with a round-the-clock team of care-givers. The second grand child, a boy, is nine and is a sweet, loving child with learning challenges and mild ADHD. I cannot comprehend how my friend copes at age 67.

Okay, bye for now
