I was perusing the trees....NO squirrel nests on my property. Two destroyed on the good neighbor's property, I guess from the awful winds a few weeks ago. One small intact nest in a tree on the property that is being logged----sure hoping they leave it alone!

hedgie said...

Wow---snowing like crazy in DC, too.

Still cam looks wonky here...horizontal lines...how far away is Shepherdstown from DC LYNN?

Robyn on FB:

"The doctors and nurses are so wonderful here and are taking real good care of Tori. Even one doc in particular told me today she wasn't sure Tori would do as good as she has been. One day at a time, ups and downs may happen but we will be strong as Tori is."

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Okay, I will not be ugly anymore. Belle is closer to the egg cup and Shep towards the top. Beaking but not in a loving way. He is a lot smaller than her.

I am home and didn't have the meeting at all today HMMMMM I bet they are scratching their heads trying to figure out what to do with me No I thinks its because we had issues at work today at 10 I guess the power went out I didn't notice it and we lost 6 compressors to our freezers, coolers, in the whole store there was a bad accident that hit a power pole and took us down so I am sure that is why which not for sure why being he wasn't on the floor to handle it Will see tomorrow

Small town customer service: FIL bought a sink & pipe to replace a bathroom sink back in 2009. Never got around to doing it. This weekend when project finally got underway it was discovered a part was too short. Still having a receipt, it was brought back to a different Ace Hdwe than where it was originally purchased. Clerk didn't even bat an eye when the original purchase date was revealed. In fact pointed out that current price is less than purchased price and they still gave full original price refund.

JUDY, Taco Hell--a typo or did I miss something from an earlier post ?

PT went well today & came home with 2 new exercises, that will extend my in home rounds to about an hour a day. Had a good walking and relatively painless day today, but felt sore after the session was over. Came home in starvation mode, ate dinner and fell asleep for a while. Now have caught up on posts. Enjoyed your reports on our Belle and Shep !

LYNN, so glad your outing went seamlessly today ! Thanks ever so much for ROBYN's reports. Hope her dad's arrival will perk Tori up !

HODA, it's clear your lightning bolt is a far different thing from that of DANAWA's ! Is it a bright light that flashes through your head/eyes ? Glad you've sought help for it and assume it's not alarming to the medicos since they've done a neurological assessment. What complicated bodies we have---such a variety of things that can happen---thankfully most are treatable !

Heading for an e-mail catch up and plan to make my hotel reservation for our Spring get together. I am SO looking forward to it !

I believe it was SANDI who asked about my doctor appointment...
Well, it seems that Dr. Knutson's people didn't send the
EKG to my doctor (De Bord). So, without that to look at, they had nothing to tell me:( Wasted 1 hour in the waiting room and exam room! They will call me tomorrow, after they have looked at the EKG and if there is an abnormality, chemical stress test will be ordered. I begged for the TREADMILL, was told I couldn't possibly do that with my knee...said, I...WATCH ME! I am wondering how long one has to walk on the treadmill til the doc is satisfied?
Anyway, I'm praying tonight, til I do a face plant on the bed, that my abnormality was just a loose screw on the EKG machine!

SOUP KITCHEN tomorrow...will be glad for the distraction:)

Costume Lady said...

LOL, Taco from Hell...JUDYE is a hoot..but, then again, there may really be a place called that. Maybe with Habanero peppers?
I LOVE taco salad...my KARLA makes a mean salad, as does The Clarion and City Hospital Cafeteria. Wonder if I will feel like eating a taco salad after surgery? Nah!

Costume Lady said...

KAY...so, so anxious to finally meet you. Anyone from Columbus is a friend of mine!

I do hope JUDYE can make it back up here...enjoyed her visit very much. She is a fun person...just exactly as she is here on this blog:)

TACO HELL - from Urban dictionary: Derogatory form of Taco Bell. Refers to the fact that the company uses low-quality ingredients and has been found using non-food-grade, genetically-engineered corn in its tortillas.

Love Taco Bell...had my very first taco there, in San Diego:) Might think twice about going there again:(

LOL----I love Mexican food so much that I'll settle for it wherever I can get it! Taco Bell is okay....but as Christie complains, their portions keep getting smaller!

Gee, Loretta, I had really fallen behind looking at your pics! Thank--I'm caught up now.

Wanda, DeBord should have been able to access the EKG via computer link with the hospital.....?????? Everybody else does! No, you couldn't do the treadmill, for sure.

Kay, I found myself dozing off during Jeopardy---had to keep rewinding! DUH!

hedgie said...

So June 9th is the big day, Sharon??!!!! Can understand your tears and flutters!

Costume Lady said...

LYNN, I think they were trying that but, for some reason, it wasn't working. Hope they don't charge me for that visit!

Hi all, just popping in to say hello and goodnight! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to LOLLY!

Wanda, UGH! How frustrating!

Glad to hear of the positive strides Tori is making!

Sad night for Dr Baker and family as they will be sending their dog Jessie to the Rainbow Bridge this evening. Jessie was with her before she owned the practice, before the kids were born, before she got married (and Jessie was in the wedding!), before she became a vet, before she met her now husband, coming to her just as she entered vet school. It was a very sad day at work as well all said our goodbyes to Jessie. She and her dog sister Jasmine come to work every day with the Drs, so she has been a part of everyone's life there. She's had cancer for 2 years, and has lived a year and a half longer than the "books" said she would. Only in the last few days has she taken a turn for the worse. Please say a prayer for them as they say goodbye.

Lynne2 said...

Have a good night everyone, prayers for all!

Costume Lady said...

Love you guys, hope to see you again before everyone's bedtime, including my own ☺

Hi,

I just got a Facebook friend request from one of my most annoying former students followed immediately by requests from two of her best friends. I clicked "not now." Hmm, maybe in 50 years.

I should think these three girls would have better things to do at this point in their lives.

stronghunter said...

So sorry, Lynne. Prayers for Dr. Baker and her family.

WANDA, sorry you had another Arrrrggghhhh experience today. Here's hoping that's the end of the glitches and that your surgery is on Wednesday as planned. Thanks for the comment on Columbus folks ! I am so anxious to meet you all ! Have made my reservation at The Comfort Inn in Martinsburg.

There is a Taco "Hell" at the end of my street, three blocks away and I've only been there once. I much prefer Qdoba, another block further or Chipotle, about a mile and a half away. I miss Del Taco for fast food Mexican--we had one in Bullhead City.

Kay said...

I love MARGY's Kidster tales and SHIRLEY's Hunter tales. You should get those two together sometime !

LYNN, the Jewel site is so exciting ! She may be pregnant ! What fun that will be. Now hear this, I do not mean JEWElS aka CAROLYN---Lynn is not expecting another grandchild. I'm talkin' about Jewel da bear !

Linda said...

Hey Everybody!

I've partially caught up. I read through midday earlier and then part of this evening's posts. I'll get there yet!!

Wanda - Don't you just hate that when you waste all that time for NOTHING?? Grrrr I hope you at least get some answers tomorrow. Love your spirit!!

Lynn - Glad you didn't have any hiccups today with your treatment. It's about time!!

Lynne - Will say a special prayer for Dr. Baker and her family. How sad to lose a long time furry family member. May they be comforted by so many happy years with their Jesse.

Happy Birthday Lolly!!! Hope you had a wonderful day today and a year ahead full of happiness and blessings!

Still keeping Tori on my mind, in my heart and in my prayers as the hours and days go by. Happy to hear bits of news as Robyn finds a moment to let us know how Tori is doing. Praying Tori continues to surprise the nurses and staff with her will to live and get through this

I guess I got on too late. Dubby is asking me if I am ready to head upstairs.

Yikes.....I forgot to put the sheets back on the bed. Better go get that done as he puts some more wood on the fire. Will see if I can check in from bed.

Back from a very good yoga practice. There were no 20 somethings but mostly 30 somethings and the practice was different. The energy was different, moslty women only one man so not as much jumping around it did not seem like...I keep learning from doing yoga at night time...totally dark by the time I leave here...it will be different in the spring.

KAY it is all good with the bursts of light...they really do not have a medical reason for it and it does not get in my way. It only happens sometimes when I go to lie down. At the beginning it scared me but now I say oh here it is again and pull up my covers turn over and go to sleep...They took all sorts of images with the cat scan and we had extensive discussions and it has not much affected how I go about my life...
Thanks for asking KAY.

Just made my reservation at the Clarion for April 20-21. Looks like they are running low on rooms for that weekend. I am always surprised at how the rooms book up for the open house weekends.

Hi all! We are home. Had a fun ev

Pizza was a hit and then we had the cheesecake. Willing to share the recipe. It is my new favorite dessert. It is so unbelievable...OMG! Want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. It really was a good day as I was feeling really good and happy.

Also, we are now over 2 inches of rain!

hedgie said...

Oh, Lynne, so sad about Jesse. I can feel their pain. :(

BTW, Jo---newspapers are making it onto the deck just fine!! One ALWAYS, one sometimes on the steps or ground! No go with the mail, but the transport folks let me grab it on the way in.

Good night friends & God bless you all. Tori is taking small steps but they will get her there!! Hugs to all

Hoda said...

In discussions they were mentioned as a possibility but no one is really sure SHIRLEY...I do not actually experience any pain or discomfort when that happens...the flashes of pink and blue I see sometimes during the day timewhen I am vertical...the other happens only when I am laid down...they tell me to jsut keep watching it...I see my medical doctor every six months and I also get blood work done and all my numbers are right on...I did not mean to alarm anyone when I asked this morning, I thought maybe WVDANA was experiencing what I have and thought if anyone would know LYNN would know and I was wanting to ask her for a while now butr other things came up and I did not want to be selfish about my medical questions...it is all good...

hedgie said...

Don't forget to check your email, Lolly! Glad your day was fun, and that the rain continues!!

Hoda....are you referring to this lightening being in your visual field? If so, it's an optical migraine. I get them, Shirley gets them, Rus gets them....and someone else here, but I can't recall who. Totally harmless and insignificant.....just irritating and don't drive if you get one! They are usually gone in 30 mins. and usually does not involve any pain!

hedgie said...

Very cloudy here...never saw the moonie. Temp went up a degree from 29° to 30°....so guess clouds are getting heavier or lower.

Finished my ice cream....trying to get some weight back on! I am at the lowest I have been in my adult life except for right after the girls were born: 136#. Feeling a little scrawny, and pants are too loose!!!

I did get a lot done today as well. One day at a time things are slowly getting caught up in my life. It really helps me to get things organized, especially with tax season upon me. January isn't too bad, but things pick up in February. It mjelps to be ready!

I can actually see the surfaces of my desks in my office!!

Just called the Clarion again. When I checked my conformation, they only had me down for Friday night with check-out on Saturday. I got that changed, and I asked if there are many rooms still available, and she said they do have rooms. Don't know why it said otherwise on the website I was looking at.

She said I could even have a choice of room location that they would try to accommodate, so I picked a first-floor room.

She did say room availability can change quickly if there is a wedding or something.

Thanks LYNN...that would be scary to have pain and flashes...I will consider it an emergency if it happens. I hope not...
Thank you all for your concern...I do not want you to worry so I can continue to ask questions when I am cofused...♥

Linda said...

Margy - I guess I totally missed your posts. Maybe I was busy typing as your posts came through.

Lynn - hope the ice cream was yummy!

I am hitting the pillows as well, but happy I could see how everyone is doing here.

Healing prayers for all, especially Lynn and Tori.

Night. xoxo

Linda said...

Thanks, Shirley for the updated information.

Sweet dreams ......

Night Hoda!!

stronghunter said...

We like to stay at the Clarion since the Momster activities are usually there, and it is easier for my children when they want to go back to the room and leave me to hang out with the Momsters. We also had a larger room there, which is nice when I bring the gang along.

Linda said...

Do most of the monsters from out of the area stay there, Shirley?

Linda said...

Ha Ha..... I meant momsters.....

I think it was an auto correction!

stronghunter said...

I have friended one former student--a very nice young woman whom I am proud to count among my friends. I also have some contact with several former students who are friends of my children.

Most people outgrow their teenage silliness by the time they are in their 30s or 40s, so I don't anticipate any issues with these people. I don't think I've friended any of them yet, but it would be okay.

Linda said...

I am sure you have made such a positive difference in so many young people's lives, Shirley. My favorite high school history teacher died just a week after my Mom last month. He was a grand man!

stronghunter said...

I'm really not sure. Quite a few stay at the Comfort Inn. It isn't far away from the Clarion and I think it might be a little less expensive.

However, my membership in AARP got me a nice discount. I didn't even think about that, but the woman I talked with the second time I called asked me.

I think it amounted to $12 a night. Not bad.

Linda said...

Okay, I better get some sleep. You too, Shirley. You have a youngster to get to school in the morning!!

Restful and peaceful sleep for all.......

Hoda said...

Good night LINDA I am glad you cleared your desk.

stronghunter said...

Thank you, Linda. I did try to make a positive difference.

Linda said...

Every little bit helps. As long as it is clean and nice, I am happy!

I swear I mean it this time..........

Night.......

Hi, Gang,
Dropping in after getting Emma bedded down for the night.

Sharon, ain't young love grand?! So happy for them--and you!

Wanda, sorry about the slip-up at the Dr. appt., and hope it won't mess up your surgery schedule! Prayers for you continue!

Lynne2, my heart breaks for Dr. Baker, her family, and you and your co-workers. Prayers, for sure!

Kay, we have a Del Taco only 3 blocks from our house. Nice that it's within walking distance.

Margy, LOVE the Christmas Spirit quote from James the Wise!

Well, I'm sniffling and sneezing again, since this afternoon. Came on in about 30 seconds. Darn allergies! We had Santa Ana winds again yesterday, but they stopped last evening. Using my Rx nose spray, and taking Claritin. Hope they work SOON!

Hope that WV Dana is feeling better tonight.

Lynn, glad your transportation got it together at the right time today! Prayers continue for you, too.

Say, I don't think I've seen a post from Jim recently. Have I just missed it? Hope he's doing OK after his eye surgery. When is the next surgery on the other eye--the 23rd?

Well, getting kind of tired, so think I'll go veg in front of the TV for a while. Have said prayers for everyone, and for every creature. The porch light is on, and both of the security systems are enabled. Sweet dreams! God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you! :o]

Good Morning DanaMO!

Didn't see you on last night, I hope everything is okay. :)

DanaMo said...

I'm here! Good morning.

I was not on last night. I had an eye appointment after school and had my eyes dilated and they were really bothering me. Too hard to be on the computer. I gave up early.

DanaMo said...

I won't be on tonight either unless I pop in real quick after school. I have a meeting from 6-10 for strategic planning. Oh think I'm going to yawn much? But hey when you are asked to do something like this by the boss it's hard to say no. It just doesn't look good.

Lori O. said...

Yes, it's hard to say no when the boss asks...BUT a 4 HOUR meeting?!!

Lori O. said...

Oh, DanaMo, my sympathy. Any good kinder-g's stories lately?
Loved Shirley talking about Hunter saying Flash would eat the book! She's always so onto him!

DanaMo said...

I know the book thing was hysterical. I can just see a kid saying that to get out of bringing books home! I can't think of any funny stories lately.

Lori O. said...

So the turtle is still alive? :)

Sandi said...

Checking in - morning Lori & DMo! No snow here =(

DanaMo said...

Yes the turtle is still alive, not eating, not really moving around. I still have it here at home, haven't brought it back to school yet. I might wait until it gets active again.

DanaMo said...

Good morning Sandi.

Sandi said...

Geez - I'm only up to midnight last night on comments, but I've gotta get ready for the day. I see no one else has joined us. Will check in at school - HAGD!!

Lori O. said...

Good Morning, Sandi! I didn't get even a snow flake yesterday...darn!

Hi JudyE and Margy!

JudyEddy said...

Double murder in a gated million dollar mansion area in Tampa last nite Odd they just said that the news media can not go in because it is private roads not public These people don't lock their houses because of the area they live

JudyEddy said...

SHARON good to have tears of joy and congratulations on the up coming wedding

JudyEddy said...

looks like a foggy morning at the nest

DanaMo said...

I know, you are right, it sounds like detention. It's strategic planning and there are way too many people on the committee and people never seem to know when to stop talking. Everyone thinks what they have to say is so important. Personally, I think most of it can be done through email. Especially now with something like Google docs where people can basically work in real time on the same document, from different locations. Oh well. She did say food would be provided. Guess I will stop at Dunkin Donuts for a big cup of coffee!

JudyEddy said...

forgot to say last night I put yesterday am visit on FB and the blog I added music to the second one not the first Shep opens his mouth but nothing came out

1-9-12 7am visit

JudyEddy said...

Ok they are getting later each day now come on guys I haven't heard anything either on the cam

Lori O. said...

Maybe it's the clouds and fog holding back the light that makes them late today.

JudyEddy said...

just on the new they say that nicotine patches and gums don't work for the long term smoking I know three people that would argue that I am listening to news as you can tell while I wait

JudyEddy said...

Good thought LORI

DanaMo said...

Gotta run HAGDE!

JudyEddy said...

JudyEddy said...

JudyEddy said...

I wonder why Janet didn't say HI yesterday Probably busy with her busy schedule with kids and work etc

JudyEddy said...

I only work till 5 today for some reason instead of 530 OH I just rememberd I do have to take the puter in today so I will have to disconnect earlier that norm

Sandi said...

Here at school - still no eagles?? Morning Margy and Judy!!

JudyEddy said...

OK FOG is lifting EAGLES time for a visit I walked in to the kitchen and got more coffee and once again are ready for you to come down Please come down!!! we are 99% sure you are in the tree although no noises on cam at all

JudyEddy said...

OK she is at school so you can show up now Maybe that is why they haven't come down waiting for a bigger audience LOL

Sandi said...

Shirley, When I taught elementary school, I had a binder that kids had to sign whenever they didn't do their homework. It came in handy for parent conferences. The name on the front of the binder was "The Dog Ate My Homework." The kids had to put the date, the assignment, and why they didn't do it. I always reminded them to be honest b/c, if they said their dog chewed it up and then, when Mom came in and read it, she said, "But we don't have a dog!" they'd be in double trouble!!

JudyEddy said...

I know what you mean of the zicam and the taste buds My coffee just isn't as good I am not taking anymore they say three days after symptoms are gone and I feel safe NOISE ON CAM
