Thank you Margy and Sharon!!

I am hoping for some peace now that Christmas has arrived. What is done is done and what is NOT done, just won't get done this year!!

Often times Christmas puts too much pressure on us.

I feel the joy and peace right here on this blog and feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of such a loving group of supporting friends.

Love you all........

In addition to some beautiful sympathy cards, I have received some beautiful Christmas cards.

Thank you to those who sent cards to me. They were all beautiful and special to me.

I apologize for not sending cards this year. I just couldn't get to them in time this year. Next year will be a better year, I am sure....

Gotta go help hubby find the "thumbprints cookie" recipe......

Linda said...

Have I told you all how much I have missed you during this past month??

Oh so much.......

It will be a kind of quiet Christmas for us this year, which is perfectly fine with me.

Dennis' son Michael flew in from FL last night. We will visit with his sister and family this afternoon and then will have our own dinner here at home tonight before church.

My son, Adam, couldn't come up for the first time since we moved here. It will actually be the first in his 24 years that I have not spent with him. I know he will be with me in spirit. His love is so strong, I feel it always. I know he wants to be here as much as I want him to be.

He hopes to visit in February when the skiing is better!! That will be fun.

Again, wishing all of you a joyous Christmas!

More wrapping to do....... xoxox

Good morning! What a fun day to wake up with my Joseph with us! He has had his two cinnamon rolls and is about to have eggs and sausage, too. He has and endless tummy, and is tall and skinny as a rail!

I want to wish each and everyone of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE! And, Lynn is having her Christmas today. That is just fine as we had our Christmas last night with Michael. Now, the big build up for tomorrow.

One Christmas Eve, Santa had come, it was midnight, and Jack and I were heading to bed. We turned on the outside light and snow was falling and there was a bunny rabbit in our backyard. He did not say anything to us....but it was magical!

I have to get busy making pies but I want to tell you....I love you and wish God's blessings on you. CarolAnne and Sandi.....we are blessed to have you here with us.

Going to be very busy today what with pies, family, early dinner, and church at 6. But, I will peek in when I can.

Thank you all for responding to prayer requests for others and for me. You've "held my hand" through some tough times and there are no adequate words or ways to thank you !

LINDA ! It's wonderful to see you ! I knew you were busy playing Christmas catch up. Hope you can relax and just let the love of God wash over you. He doesn't care if you couldn't get to some things and neither do we and all who love you ! Too bad Adam's visit will be delayed, but we'll consider that in God's plan, too. Hi, DANA...need to let you know that my PRINTER has been 'sick, beyond repair' for 2 months now. Therefore, I haven't been able to COPY those photos that you gave me. Gene has bought me a new printer and is in the process of installing it. He had to quit to go to the grocery store for some additional things for our dinner/buffet tomorrow, so I don't expect him to finish up the work on the printer til after Christmas. Promise I will get them back to you before my surgery!

Costume Lady said...

After Gene pulled my desk out from the wall, I found some wonderful things back against the wall, that I thought I had lost! I lay items up on top of my desk that I need to get to in the near future, and apparently many of them slipped off and down the space between the desk and wall. Found one VERY IMPORTANT thing there for LYNN:)

wvgal_dana said...

Wanda dear no hurray. Enjoy Christmas and the wonderful time you and Gene are going to have with the family....MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HUGS♥

Dana, I was always in Baltimore County; was born and raised in the Essex/Middle area (southeast Balto. County) then, once I was married, we lived in Perry Hall (northeast Baltimore County). My husband was born and raised in Balto. City, near Hillendale and Mt. Pleasant Golf Course. My Mom still lives in Perry Hall, Dennis's family all lives in Harford County (Kingsville, Fallston, Forest Hill) and my sister lives in Elkridge (Howard County) near BWI Airport.
Shirley, My boys got a rock tumbler for Christmas one year. They set it up in the lower level of our basement, where their playroom was located. At night, when I was upstairs in bed, I could still hear that thing clunking those rocks around! I was SO HAPPY when the motor finally died on it! But th boys enjoyed it and it was fun to see the polished rocks! Yours on your blog are lovely, esp. the turquoise ones!

Costume Lady said...

Before I go to make Mac & Cheese and turkey salad, I would like to wish all of my Brothers and Sisters on here, a most special Christmas Day...and that ALL of you will feel the peacefulness and joy that comes with our Lord's Birthday. My wish is that this will be the BEST EVER for us all♥

Costume Lady said...

SANDI, I must tell you that, I, too, could hear the rock tumbler all over the house, even with it downstairs in our mud room. It annoyed me so much that Gene took it outside, under our deck...in a sheltered area and I could still hear it. Had to move it to an outbuilding, then I was habby:)
I loved to see the results, don't know for the life of me why we stopped doing that. Maybe the motor burned up:)

So glad we got a new Christmas Eve thread!!

Everything is done that can be done until closer to mealtime! Chris and Shannon will be here around 1:30 to help finish things up.

Linda, we KNEW you were extremely busy playing catch-up plus the holiday activites. Hope you are feeling okay and not letting yourself get overwhelmed. What are your holiday plans?

HA!! Yep---Paula said Hedgesviller was too much to type, so she abbreviated it and it stuck!!! No special affinity for hedgehogs until then!!!

For you not-so-new newbies now, I can guarantee you will never find a better bunch that we have here.

I mentioned a cookbook once, too,as a fundraiser but Paula said that it would be too expensive.

Our tumbler is in the basement. At first, we could hear it in the bathroom and the dining room. Then one day the whole downstairs was vibrating, so I went down to see what I could do. I thought I could maybe put some kine of padding under it, but when I moved it, things got better.

Kathryn did a change today, but Hunter said it wasn't running when he took it back down to the basement. I think this is the last cycle.

Back when my children were growing up, we had one in the garage below the house. I don't remember hearing it upstairs.

We did have to take it with us on a trip once so that we could tend to it. Don't recall problems the, but maybe we put it outdoors when we were at the campground.

We sometimes took the trailer on rockhounding trips.

stronghunter said...

I guess Kathryn will check on the tumbler when she gets back from her last-minute shopping trip. She wants to get Christmas pajamas for Hunter.

DanaMo said...

Monte is still scrubbing away upstairs...I on the other hand, am ready for a nap. Floors are done, more cookies made, dogs fed, bathrooms cleaned, laundry going. That's enough for one day!

Costume Lady said...

When we went out West, I had the outside compartments so filled with rocks and stones, that I couldn't help but think of Lucille Ball in THE LONG-LONG TRAILER...I loved that movie!

Sandi said...

Shirley, I'm happy to hear that 11 year old boys aren't too old for Christmas pajamas! Tell Kathryn to to enjoy it for as long as she can!

Costume Lady said...

Shirley, do you have to put some polishing material in the tumbler every so often...I can't remember just what all had to be done~

I am headed off to Yoga and Christmas...the community is doing three days of free yoga in celebration of Christmas and I am not quite sure what to expect...maybe I will stop for a cup of tea somewhere and then I have to do groceries because the health food store is closed tomorrow and Monday...I have to get fresh vegetables...

Hello again everybody! I am home for a minute. I went to the Riffe Christmas Eve gathering and had a great time. We went to the cemetery after that. I hate that place!

Got some beautiful cards and gifts in the mail today. The doctor I transcribe pathology for sent me a Christmas bonus. I have never gotten one of them before. Heading back out to Sissy's for a while now. Becky will get there about 8:30 and we will open our Christmas gowns and then I will come back home and go to bed. I am so grateful to be living here again!

I love you all so very much!

Costume Lady said...

Love you too, Sharon! I was going to the Riffe Party, but I ran out of time, here in my kitchen. I am invited to the Riffe Reunion (Bev said I could be an honorary Riffe) I do hope my new knee is ready for "These KNEES were made for Walkin'" by then;)

After Gene and I finished our Christmas shopping in Hagerstown on Thursday, we rode through the Light display at the city park in Williamsport, Md. It was so pretty. I opened up my MOON ROOF on my car and stood up and videoed as best that I could, with one wobbly knee and another one, tired from shopping. When we passed Santa, he laughed at me taking videos through the moon roof and said, "Now that is what I call a creative lady" then waved and wished me a Merry Christmas. Made me feel like a young whippersnapper:)
Then, in the same town, we drove by a house that was trimmed so beautifully that cars had pulled along side the road to look at it.
I have posted the PARK and the HOUSE on my JUST FOR FUN blog if you would care to have a look see~

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Xmas Eve. We have some special guests. Good friend of daughter & SIL who lived in TX now lives near Baltimore and has 2 son~~first grade & kindergarten. Sher & Jim are godparents of the oldest. They have been to Mass and came down for dinner. Jim made his famous Xmas Eve oyster stew & we have lots of hors d'oeuvres, candy canes, cookies, etc. So for a last minute gathering, it is really good!
As Margy and Tiny Tim say, "God Bless Us Everyone"!!

Good Christmas Eve evening, one and all. I'm sure everyone is busy enjoying their time with loved ones.
Mine are all headed for their own roosts now. We had a wonderful afternoon/evening. DInner was delicious----even tho' I did little more than sample---didn't want to tempt fate! Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Lots of lovely gifts exchanged. I think everyone was very happy---I know I was!
Liesl's first toy was demolished in two minutes!! She chewed off Santa's shoes and hat tassle (all hard rubber), AND got the squeaker out!! ARGH!!! Little rip! And Shannon was very good: he did NOT feed her any table scraps. He DID give her a fingerful of cool whip from dessert, tho'!

Need to look at Loretta and Wanda photos.

Football game was a bust. Lost to a team who had only one 3 games! Final score 33 Vikings, 26 Skins. :(

LYNN, about the time your were posting about the wonderful Christmas celebration you and the kids had I was leaving Julie's home. We started the evening with a delicious Thai dinner by Chef Hugh. Then enjoyed our exchange of some lovely gifts and the opening of gifts sent by the rest of the family. They'd taken Malcolm to the dog park about 5 and he was completely zonked out and docile. Our thoughts of him getting overly involved were for naught ! ☺ Per tradition Santa will leave Seth's main gift and fill their stockings in the morning. I'll go over about 3 or 4 for games, dinner and some neighbors will drop in for dessert. I now have candles glowing and am listening Michael Buble`'s Christmas CD, Seth's gift to me, as I write. A Merry Christmas, indeed !

Finished wrapping everything except the packages Susan is bringing for me to give. I don't know if she will have wrapped them already. Lots of cookie baking here today. Hunter spent today with his dad and will spend tomorrow with us.

He will have a Christmas celebration with his other grandparents on New Year's Day.

Kathryn and Hunter went upstairs long ago. Hunter would not go to bed until his mom went upstairs. She had wrapped the Santa gifts and hidden them, so she quickly put them out while I watch the stairs for Hunter invasion.

I am about ready to head upstairs. Good night. Sleep well, my friends. Night light is on.

Love hearing all of your doings of the day/evening.

Movin' Jim sent this out in an email: (love great news like this)

Merry Christmas, everyone. Just a note to tell you I had the surgery Thursday, wore a guard-patch thing taped to my face until this morning when they took it off at the office.

The surgeon says it was a complete success, and the world is again beautiful and "visible". Everything is much whiter and brighter, including the colors. I can read this size print again, but I'll have to have glasses, I believe, since they got 20/40 when I looked through the pinhole, and there is some distortion perhaps from astigmatism.

They'll do the left one on Jan. 25th, and I'm looking forward to that now. They told me originally it would be about two weeks between surgeries, but when I got to the lady who schedules them, she didn't have any openings before the 25th....

I'm still having some probs with ghost images and distortions in certain circumstances, but it's incredibly improved over Thursday morning when I could barely see to get to the special bus to ride to the specialist's office. Can hardly wait to have the other one done and get my new glasses.

God love you all and bless you at this Christmas time
and through 2012 A.D.,

Jim

Merry Christmas.

Hope you all are finding Santa had you on his nice list. LOL

Good Christmas morning, Early Birds ! Wonder if Belle and Shep took note of Santa and his reindeers as they exited Shepherdstown during the night ?

SANDI, you are truly addicted, checking in so early from Balto !

JIM's news is a wonderful Christmas present ! I'm so happy for him ! Once he has the second surgery he'll be close to 20/20 again and it's a glorious feeling. 2006 was that red letter year for me !

LYNN, the hip seems to have leveled out at about a 2 or 3 level pain. Not complete relief, but so much better ! Enough that I can comfortably turn in bed and get better sleep.

I'm on my mom's mac and I'm a PC person, so I can't get all the windows to open the way I'm used to. That's going to hinder my commenting this AM. Gonna check the cam to watch for the eagles arrival.

Kay said...

DANAMO, I spose' those labs are the reason you're up early, or are your kids still early risers on Christmas Day ?

THELMA and SHARON, it's grand that you are in Bluefield for Christmas with Sissy et al ! Ha, Train and Shake up the Happiness is the song playing on my fav local station at this very moment. How special !

Sandi said...

Kay, I'm up around 6AM every day - internal alarm clock. Plus, Bella's stomach goes off at about the same time each morning so she gets antsy and wants to go outside to pee. My mom spent the night at my sister's so she could be there when my niece and nephew wake up.

Kay said...

Oofta, SANDI, I feel your pain. I had to use my dil's Mac over Thanksgiving. A real pain for we windows people ! We have several Mac-er's in the family, including Julie and Hugh right here in Columbus. 17 year old Seth is getting a PC from Santa this morning and I'm glad the old boy decided Windows was best for him !

Kay said...

SANDI, that is so sweet of you mom ! How old are the kids ? We have no little ones in the family anymore, but those are great years !

Sandi said...

It's just a matter of what you're used to. At home, I know how to minimize screens so I can keep the cam running on one side of the monitor and both the blog and my gmail account open but minimized on the other side, allowing me to see everything at once and switch quickly from one thing to another.

Kay said...

You're right about the puters, SANDI, but Mac does take some getting used to and experience while anyone can sit down to a Window's puter and go to town.

Madeline is 9 and Michael is 7. When my boys were little, my mom and Denny's parents both lived about 5 min. from us and they would all be at our house by 7am to watch the boys open their gifts. My ssister lives about 25 min from my mom, so it's easier for her to spend the night there. We do Christmas Eve with Denny's family and then spend the night here. But we'll be at my sister's as soon as Denny gets up and moving - it really IS about the kids!

Kay said...

The tree just shook, a lot. I think our eagles are up there. Come on down, you two !

Sandi said...

Reading back, it appears that either the eagles didn't show up last evening, or folks were too busy to see them. Maybe Belle and Shep went to visit family for Christmas Eve??

Kay said...

What fun to have kids that age to enjoy Christmas with !

Color/colour, has arrived at the nest, now we need eagles !

Kay said...

Judging from the times on posts yesterday afternoon late, Belle and Shep may have gone unnoticed. Only 124 posts since 10 a.m. yesterday. Understandably the slowest I've seen since joining in last February.

Good Morning, and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Brown Christmas here (no snow), but that is a blessing for those traveling.

Exhausting evening at in-laws. An autistic 10 yr old, hyped up over the whole Christmas concept, and a sugared up 3 yr old, wore out all 10 adults. But had lots of laughs and good conversation.

Food was delicious, MIL always over does it.

Quiet day here today, preparing for my family's arrival tomorrow when we do Christmas all over again.

Hope all have a peaceful and blessed day.

The crows are calling out near the nest.

There is a beautiful new gas grill on my deck this morning. Oh, it's not for me. A neighbor is hiding it there--a present for her Spousal Equivalent. He's going to be thrilled ! Maybe I'll get in on a cookout or two.

Kay said...

Hi, CAROLANNE ! Happy to hear you and hubby had a good time with his family last night ! More good times ahead for you---that's great !

Sandi said...

Morning CarolAnne! My mom has no speakers attached to her monitor so I'm hearing nothing. And pressing the pause/play button does nothing so each time the cam freezes, i have to reload the page. Still, I'm hoping to wish the eagles Merry Christmas!

Kay said...

I'm hanging in there for a while, too, SANDI. We need a Christmas morning visit with our regal eagles !

MERRY CHRISTMAS, my sweet eagle friends!!! Hope you all had a great night with the sugar plums dancing through your heads!!

I slept like a rock....but Liesl decided to wake up early!!

Got this email from Jim:

God love you all and bless you at this Christmas time
and through 2012 A.D.

Pretty colors on nest.....but it is MT.

Sandi said...

Morning Lynn! Glad you slept well! The sun rising on the nest IS beautiful, but where are those eagles?? Maybe they DID go out of town for Christmas??

Kay said...

Top o' the mornin' to you, LYNN ! Glad to hear you slept so well ! Isn't that great news from JIM ? What a great Christmas gift improved eyesight is !

hedgie said...

LOL, now that I've read back I see that early-bird Shar already posted Jim's news!!! Of, well---good enough to repeat!!!

So glad to hear of all your little routines and plans for the holiday. I hope you all have lots of fun and love throughout the day!!!

Kay-Train playing as we were saying good morning is something else. : ) I'm so thankful and grateful to be here in Bluefield instead of Bedford. My higher power lead me to Bedford, for a short time in my life, and I'm grateful but it was never completely home. Now I really am home.

Kay said...

THELMA, how sweet it is ! We're all happy for you, I know !

Kay said...

Oh, me of little faith ! I've been here over an hour and feel the need to move on, but hope to return to news of a Belle and Shep visit.

MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS, dear Eagle Buds !!!! BBL

Christie's iPad was quite confusing to this ol' amateur! Much heavier than I expected it to be, too. Shannon showed me how to preview book....too much glare for me! And keyboard is SO sensitive!
He did say that the Kindle Fire is Windows-based.

hedgie said...

It is a very frigid 22° here.....BRRRRRR.

DanaMo said...

I was actually up before the labs. Not sure why, but I woke up at 4:30.

No visit today? Bummer.

hedgie said...

Nothing yet, DanaMo! As least not that we've caught!!!
Are you ready for the kids to get up?

Sandi said...

Have been checking in between taking Bella out, fixing tea, and catching up on FB and emails. No eagles this AM - how strange! Denny is up so, once Bandit gets his walk, we're off to my sister's. HAGD! I'll try to check back tonight!

I am ready to get the sleigh going and heading it North to have Christmas at Mothers. Don't know when I'll be on blog again tomorrow next day......over the hills I go.........

GOD BLESS EVERYONE AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.!!!!!!

hedgie said...

LOL, DanaWV---don't think the sleigh will do too well on pavement!!!! Enjoy your time with your Mom!

Sandi, hope Bella is showing some improvement this morning. A Christmas miracle, maybe??

Have friends who went to Texas for Christmas with his brother----not sure what part---maybe Lubbock??---he says they have snow!! Alomost doesn't pay to try to go to WARM locale when you want it to be!!

My BFF in CA is winging her way to FL as we speak....with her sis and BIL and Bro and SIL...4 days at Disney, and then a weeks cruise in the Caribbean! Had her Christmas with her son and grands and new DIL yesterday. She is once again free as a bird! Her son got married last month, and he and the girls moved out of her house after 2 years of "invasion"----she is so glad to have a life again!!
