Good morning! Happy Boxing Day!
Slept in a bit....kind of a fitful night---wind howled badly which always unsettles me.

Glad JudyE saw our eagles!

Good to see Lori, Shirley and Margy checking in---and hoping that Margy is STILL sleeping!!
Recharge those batteries, gal!

And DanaMo and now Sharon!!! Hi, gals!

The wind is a-whipping at the nest.

Good morning again. Thanks for the thread Steve.

hedgie said...

Oops---did I see T-bird slip in, too?? Hi, Thelma!
So how was the Bluefield Christmas for you all??

hedgie said...

I see him! Thanks for alert! I was getting chow.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Hedgie, how are you feeling? Love you lots!

stronghunter said...

Good morning. Thanks for the new thread, Steve.

Trying to wake up after our late night last night. Hope everyone is well.

PattiO said...

Goodmorning everyone ... and Merry Christmas! Nice to see Shep this morning. I wonder where Belle is.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I just wish there was a way to NOT end up totally exhausted! :)

hedgie said...

Shep is hanging in there, isn't he? See how the wind is blowing??

hedgie said...

Feeling okay, Shar.....not great, not awful!

Hi, PattiO. Hope you had a specatacular holiday.

hedgie said...

Shep is trying to look busy now....wonder what Belle is up to?

PattiO said...

Awww Shep gave up and left. :( Wonder where Miss Belle is.

hedgie said...

Wow---was thinking about tackling the sewing machine again today....and lo and behold, a Heloise hint in the paper may help with on eissue: put a piece of white paper or cardboard behind a needle in order to make the "eye" easier to see. How about that??!!

grannyblt said...

Morning all.

Yes Hedgie, that white behind the eye really works. I keep a white plastic spoon for that purpose--paper works fine too.

grannyblt said...

BBL--my alloted computer time is over for now. Hope everyone had a good holiday.

PattiO said...

I never thought of that hedgie! I'll have to try that. My eyes are terrible anymore!

Costume Lady said...

LYNN, do you have a 'needle threader'? I can't do without mine!

hedgie said...

Hi Lynne1 and Wanda!
No, Wanda----I've never used a needle threader.....I think there MAY be one in my Grams's sewing box but there are no instructions!
The whire plastic spoon sounds good, too, Lynne!

hedgie said...

How was your day yesterday, Wanda?
Anyone else want to share with your activities, gang??? Or is everyone just plumb wore-out?

hedgie said...

To work I go. Big deal---putting the kitchen linens in the wash!

hedgie said...

Oh, dear, Jewels is sick....has the stomach bug....my poor baby....that's both of them now in less than a week. This is the first sick day she's had to take since she started her job 18 mos. ago. Poor kid. Sure hoping my discomfort is chemo/rad related and that I'm not getting it!
And hoping that Margy didn't have to work on her day off.

Sandi said...

Hi all, checking in from my mom's in Baltimore. I see that the eagles showed up briefly last night and again this AM. Sounds like everyone had a wonderful, but exhausting Christmas Day - same here. It was great to see my son and his wife who are back in the states for 2 weeks from Tanzania where they are currently living. Getting my mom's security system and medic alert system set up today before we drive back to Bethany this evening. Will check in again tonight! HAGD!

wvgal_dana said...

Thank you Steve for the day after Christmas thread. Hoping your family had a wonderful Christmas.

I see many are checking in.

Thank you for commenting about Shep being in nest this morning.

Sorry Lynn about Christie having the bug.

Isn't it neat how sometimes when you need something. The answer comes along from where you never excepted it. (: Talking about the comic place and the needle.

Sandi that is so wonderful I can see the hugging when you seen your son and daughter-in-law.

Need to go back and read some comments.

Mother and I had a wonderful Chrismtas dinner together. Shared lots of GMAC music videos on tv. And a Christmas show and a parade.

She wants to look at lights but by the time it gets dark enough. She is just to tired. Hoping still to be able to take her.

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning everyone! Trying to get my day started - no plans - just need some
get-up-and-go power. lol
I am happy to hear so many good stories
about yesterday. From Christmas eve up through yesterday afternoon I have been
celebrating with family - I pray that
all of us keep the Spirit of Christmas
alive all year long.

hedgie said...

Hi, Sandi, DanaWV and Jo!
Sandi, any idea what the kids are planning about coming "home?"

Dana--it's Carolyn who has the bug now. Christie had it last week.

Jo, I think we all do well at keeping the Spirit going!! Where there's a will, there's a way!

Jo, wore my wool mask out to get the trash can...worked well, but glasses steamed up so I was in a fog!!! How is yours working out?

hedgie said...

Thanks for the list, Jo!

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks Lynn I should have been able to get that right. Must be I haven't gotten my eyes all the way open. Need that hot tea.

Speaking of eyes. I am praying all is going well for Jim.

Wanda read your message about Karla-prayers said.

It was very special being there with Mother. I praise God he made me well enough to be with her.

wvgal_dana said...

I see both eagles from comments thank you all. That both eagles graced the nest with their presents on Christmas Day. Reminds me of the Manager Scene.

hedgie said...

Dana, yesterday's nest visit was SO short and I was the only one who saw them....maybe I imagined it!!!! LOL!
Jim is doing fine....I posted his message on Sat.

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie I haven't been out to try it out
yet. I would use it today if I do.

Jim had sent out an email about how very
successful his first eye surgery turned out (cataracts) He is so looking forward to the other eye to be done very soon. He was amazed how well it
helped him see again! Jim said he will need glasses but that the colors and details he was missing has come back.

wvgal_dana said...

Mema Jo thank you for the list.

I would like to ask for prayer. Daughters boyfriend John got a new car....well new for him...can't remember the year. The light comes on. Dealership fixed it once. Now it is back on. Please pray that get the problem fixed permanetly. They have a 2 1/2 hr ride to Dealership. There is nothing around there. Like a mall for them to go to. Plus the gas it is costing them. They are very "happy" the dealership is working with them. They just can't get it figured out so it will stop coming on. Thank you for adding this to your prayer list. ((HUGS))

NCSuzan said...

Good late morning, all. It is a little breezy, little chilly, and a little sunny day in N.C. My glasses would not get foggy here Lynn. There is something you can put on glasses to help that and for the life of me can't remember what it is.

Please bear with me while I tell you about my Christmas gift. First, I love coffee or hot tea. Have enjoyed them for many years. Since I have become sick, I do not fix them in the morning, Just do not like walking back and forth from kitchen to my room to pour a cup. Not lazy just not enough energy in the mornings. My daughter gave me a Keurig. One cup at a time. At first I was not impressed. But after initiating it and preparing my first cup of coffee, I am more impressed. Brews in seconds, Hot Hot brew. and if I want another cup I can make it when I feel like getting up again. No waste. May change my mind but wanted to share in case anyone was maybe thinking of one. I told my daughter.....now if I just had a pepsi machine......and I do decaf! LOL!
Have a great day everybody!

wvgal_dana said...

Reading all the ones about the different childrens Christmas is such a Blessing. I want to thank those that wrote on the blog about that excitement and Joy. ^j^
It truly makes me smile. (:

CarolAnne they have been showing on tv. Those new machines that makes the soda/pop drinks.

Judie said...

Good late morning everyone.

Thank you, Steve, for the Boxing Day thread.

Gloria Keesler: An article in the Washington Post this morning reported the release of two male juvenile eagles (Starved Rock State Park, IL/Plum Island). These were the two eaglets who fell from 85' from nest to ground in a wind storm about six months ago. That is such good news but the article also mentions photographer GLORIA KEESLER -- our very own Glo -- was there to capture the eagle's first flight to freedom.

Wanda, Karla is certainly receiving prayers for a successful surgery and a complete and speedy recovery. Hugs to all. So glad you had such a wonderful time at GG's.

Thanks to Judy for the eagle report. Looks as if the crib rails are taking shape.

Been away too long. Hello to PattiO.

Also see I missed something about Jim. Hope all is well with him.

Hi Sharon, Thelma, Dana, Lynne.

Sandi, so nice you had son and DIL home from so far away.

Glad Paula had such a nice time with her family -- need a Gianni update, please.

Lynn, sorry Carolyn is sick. Hope she feels better today AND that you are not going to be in more discomfort from a stomach bug.

Guess you Mountaineers decided to share the wind. Arrived here this early a.m.

Jo, so happy you had such a full schedule of family and togetherness. Take today to recover and reflect.

Hope Margy has gotten some much deserved restorative sleep.

Okay, way too long a return. Thank you for keeping the door ajar for me.

Judie said...

Okay, well, I'm back!

Jo, thank you for the anniversary list and for the update on Jim's cataract surgery. Makes a whole world of difference.

NCSusan, congratulations on the terrific gift. So nice for you to enjoy your hot coffee/tea with convenience and less energy.

Okay, bye!

Oh, my bad -- Hi Shirley.

hedgie said...

Oh, Suzan...that sounds ideal! So you have it right in your room? How convenient--no excuses now! Enjoy! My oldest daughter got one, too! Too sick today to give it a whirl--:( But I bet she will love it, too. She's always waited until she was at work to have that first cuppa Joe....now she can have it while trying to get the kids up and out!!

hedgie said...

I am heading for the sofa for a bit. Fell like I need to stretch out my tummy a bit. Don't feel like eating lunch. BBL.

it can be unsettling! Still breezy now but not like last night!

Wanda : about Boxing Day, I have to make this link because there is a lot, and I can't synopsize it, but it is not about Boxing per se, but includes giving gifts in Boxes...

magpie said...

thanks for the "Lone Judy" on the nestcapades reporting this morning!

STEVE, Thanks for the New Thread for Today....Happy Day after Christmas to you and your Family

Hoda said...

Good Morning/ Good afternoon everyone.

The door is always ajar for you JUDIE and I wish you would post daily. How is DARTH?

LYNN I too hope you are not getting the bug...you said you had the flu shjot in September so it should protect you some, but not from colds.Afternoon schedule starting the 29th and for the duration...That is a relief.

I read in my book this is why I logged out early last night...I have another hundred pages to go...I rather feel sorry for HILLY as her arrogance comes from her own life story, she seems to me to be such a weak character...Celia makes me laugh she is so out to lunch in many ways and yet there is strength in her...why does she lie so much? I like Skeeter a lot.I would have liked to know why Constantine left, but maybe that will come up in the remaining hundred pages. I think LYNN is right Stuart is out of the picture...
Off to get ready for yoga...

magpie said...

Hoda....
Good Morning...
Love to you... ♥ and (( Hugs ♥ ))

you will get your answer about Constantine....

the Help may not affect all readers the same, but it is a heartwarming and provocative book throughout....

You'll miss it when you finish it...if that makes sense...I sure did...
xoxo ♥

Hoda said...

Oh MARGY I know about missing a book when I finish...a good book is always like having visitors in the flat...and when I finish they hang around like a memory of a visit...and hence I miss it...

Kay said...

So wonderful to "tune" in to find good reports on Belle n' Shep visits. Grand, too, to read about the joyous Christmas enjoyed by so many in our group ! Too many heartwarming experiences to mention one by one, but I found myself smiling and giggling a lot as I read your posts, dear Eagle Buds !

Happy Boxing Day to HODA ! Certainly one of the most unusual of holidays celebrated around the world !

LYNN, sorry to hear Jewels is under the weather now. Hope it's a one day thing like Christie experienced. Perhaps your nausea is/was not totally treatment related--time may tell.

magpie said...

Good analogy, Hoda...
You have a way with words....
Enjoy your day, dear

magpie said...

Hi there ☼HI☼ Sunshine Kay !

Yes, hard to recount all the many things that occur during these times, but I read your report and it sounds...wonderful

disappearing now...for a bit at least...

Enjoy YOUR day also, dear...

Kay said...

MARGY, I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of "The Help". No need to over think it, just enjoy and revel in the fact that "we've come a long way, baby" since that era. A long way to go, but we're heading in the right direction !

Kay said...

STEVE, you're spoiling us rotten ! Thank you for the Boxing Day thread !

Hoda said...

I like boxing day and totally avoid the stores at the same time. We have one mall in Nelson and for the past ten days it was jam packed with cars in the parking lot...I bet you it will be the same today...The Abundance of convenient presents, I like Suzan's NC description of the Kreuger she got...things to make us enjoy life by making it simpler...I also enjoy the excitement around Baker Street, that would be downtown Nelson, children of all ages on a mission and with cheer, all very well dressed too which makes it different than ordinary day shopping. I will experience all that as I walk to my yoga practice. I am smiling already. Happy Boxing Day...

JudyEddy said...

home for lunch and find a new thread Thanks Steve for the new thread and I hope you had a great holdiday

wvgal_dana said...

Happy Boxing Day..had never heard of it.

Hoda I love your words about the children. I watch the children around here and I just smile and smile. Have a great and enjoyable walk looking at all the childrens smilee.

Margy you are so right about the book "The Help". So far I haven't found anything else to read.

Kay said...

JUDY, is Wally World a mad house today ? Sorry you had a bit of disappointment in yesterday's dinner arrangement, however I'm sure you made the best of the sharing experience. Jordyn is a very lucky little girl, with loving grandparents on both sides of her family and all so close by !

NCSuzan said...

I am so happy for Jim. He had suffered for a long time. Can anyone tell me why they wait so long before cataract surgery? Seems cruel to lose so much sight and not do anything until your are almost totally helpless.

Kay said...

Boxing Day has been on our yearly calendars for years and years !

Kay said...

SUZAN, I think the delay in cataract surgery is most often due to patient reluctance. Many don't seem to realize just how bad their eyesight is/was until after the surgery. Plus, there are some doctors who promote waiting until both eyes are in need and having the surgeries fairly close together. It's a miracle surgery, in my opinion ! Getting near 20/20 vision back is such a blessing ! It's going to be a Happy New Year for JIM ! So happy your daughter gave you the Kuerig ! "They" can have "the good ol' days", life just keeps getting better and better !

JudyEddy said...

WOW looks like Shep stayed for a 331 min visit after I left this am

JudyEddy said...

that was 31min

JudyEddy said...

I am trying to keep a ledger of the visit when I see one on the blog I enter it in to the journal Yesterday looks like only one short visit at 506 to 507 and it was our LYNN that saw them I had entered those times

Happy, Happy Boxing Day!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas! We went to stepson Dennis home for great food & meeting w/family. Our grandson Danny gave us as a present a picture of him w/college graduation cap & gown. It was the best present we could have. He was always an A student, went to Dematha, then VA Tech to study engineering. In his last year, he kind of burned out. Has been working as electrician w/Dennis. The big secret was that he took remaining classes he needed at U of MD and graduated this past sping! He didn't want to tell anyone, & didn't even want to attend graduation, but his Mother made him do it!!!!!! Merry Xmas!!☺ ♥

hedgie said...

Gee, almost missed JUDIE!!!
Good to see you, girl!!!
Can't find the Post article...:( We had posted one last week from one of her area papers....which also id'd her as the photog! But the Post is getting national!!!
Yippee!

Margy, a shame that Caro will lose the holiday pay...but no way could she have struggled in today...she was in the bathroom most of the night. She is so miserable.

Hoda, the bug that is going around is intestinal. Flu shot only protects against respiratory influenza.

Hoda, as Margy says, the rest will be revealed.....however, it's rather anti-climactic in the book. In the film, it was much more poignant, I thought! And she was played by Cicely Tyson--one of my favs!

I, too, miss many a book when I finish them! Some I just want to go on and on!!

Geesh---missed Wanda's Christmas event post on the OLD thread----thought I was going crazy when someone mentioned it!
Wanda, Karla is on the prayer list! I'm sure she will do fine! Winchester?

Hoda said...

See you all after yoga...

hedgie said...

What a wonderful gift, Loretta! Guess he was afraid he might not finish and wanted to wait until it was a done deal! Good on him!! Congrats!

The old cataract theory was "wait until they are ripe." I never knew exactly what they meant by that!! But doing both close together is so logical as far as new lenses are concerned. I only have an early one on one eye....so guess I won't live long enough to worry about it!!

Kay said...

LYNN, shame on you ! You certainly will live to cataract ripeness age ! I was 69 when mine were done.

WANDA, my prayers will be with Karla ! That's another miracle surgery as far as I'm concerned. Had mine at 54 and it solved a couple of severe problems beautifully !

Kay said...

LORETTA, what a special present Danny gave you ! A nice surprise for proud grandparents !

paula eagleholic said...

Howdy, all!

Glad to see everyone checking in!

Quiet day here at work...at least the phones aren't ringing off the hook!

hedgie said...

That's the article from a week or more ago in the Richmomd, VA paper. I still can't find the one that was in The Washington Post today. Might be the same AP distribution, but will get even more national attention in the Post! Glo is "getting around!"

hedgie said...

Shadows are deepening on the nest. Pretty.

hedgie said...

Paula, bet you don't have to worry about too many returns!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn, no we don't.

Went over to Walmart at lunchtime...their return line wasn't bad at all....the Christmas stuff was pretty picked over, but did manage to get some wrapping paper and some small plastic trays to give away cookies on.

NCSuzan said...

Lynn, my eye ddoctor told mr that prednisone cause cataracts. I have one too. I probably won't live long enough for surgery either.

Judie said...

Hi, back again.

Article is in the front section - page A5. Glo is mentioned bottom of column 3.

What an amazing gift from Danny, Lowreeda. A real cause for praise and accomplishment and perseverance.

First I remember about Boxing Day was in some novel I read a multitude of years ago -- story was set in England.

Hi Paula. Glad you're having a quiet day.

Darth had a cataract removed several years ago and had to wait until the other one was "ripe for pickin" and that was removed about six weeks ago. New glasses, of course, but vision is so much improved. I know Jim is going to be so much better.

Okay, gone again.

wvgal_dana said...

I'll probably miss the eagles but I'm going to take a nap.

hedgie said...

Judie, no hard copy here to get the article. No luck with online version......does the article give a web address?

Paying bills----ugh! And can't find one of them......lookig everyplace.....gremlins must have stolen it. ARGH!

Judie said...

Okay, this might be helpful. The article is from the Associated Press by Martha Irvine.

Panthers are tearing around as if they got into something they shouldn't.

BBL

hedgie said...

Search reveals her article from Nov. in three other publications, but not The Post. Strange! Maybe it will show up on the Post's web tomorrow. Thanks, Judie.

hedgie said...

Forgot to tell you that I lost a very special item Sat. night. I have a beautiful cobalt blue votive candle holder on a stem with the star of David etched in white. Have used it for the backdrop for my creche for 30 yrs. to light the Christ Child's way.....heat of the candle caused it to break in half. Heartbroken here. Totally irreplaceable.

Kay said...

LYNN, it is sad to lose such a cherished part of your Christmas display. Glad you had 30 years of use and enjoyment out of it though.

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn, super glue!

hedgie said...

I'm going to try it, Paula. There is also a "star" pattern crack that hasn't completed it's travels. Just talked to Mom; she says she has some battery powered fake votives, so they shouldn't heat it up enough to melt the glue. Gonna try to salvage!!!!

Hoda said...

Am back and need a cup of tea. I was going to go to one of the café's for one and decided it was too crowded in there...No PM visit I take it...

LYNN My heart ached about your comment in regards living long enough to get to worry about cataract surgery and then Suzan from NC repeated the comment. The magic is NONE of us know how long we have got to live or the reason we leave when we do...I however hompe and pray that you are around for many more years to come or for as long as life offers you learning opportunities and a sense of wonder. It is a bit more challenging for you LYNN I know because of the cancer diagnosis, but with the GRAcE OF GOD you will beat it again...I write all this because I wanted you to know that you were heard and how important it is to let us all know your thoughts and or fears on the matter...we are all real here and we are also with strong love and prayers for you and your healing process...I am sorry you lost the STAR OF DAVID decoration part of Christmas...do't give the loss more symbolic meaning than it deserves. sometimes things just wera out that is all.

I have lower back spasms today and was wondering how it will be for yoga...it went very well...maybe it is the tensness of walking on ice...not sure why...

I would like to make a meat cassarole and so will spend part of my afternoon cooking. I will keep checking in...

hedgie said...

Judie----did Darth hide some catnip around the house???!!!!
LOL!

Hoda, thank you for your sweet pragmatism. I am glad to know that I can get those sublte fears voiced and that you all pick up on them. Don't want to be a downer---just realistic.
Bet your tenseness on the ice IS causing your back discomfort. I know how I have always been walking on ice!

Margy, Caro is drinking g'ale and going to try a piece of toast. She's slept a lot and no longer feels feverish or chilled. Good signs, I hope. She does NOT want to miss tomorrow.

Nice pic of the moon and Venus!

hedgie said...

Yep, Margy, I have eagle talons to reattach to my first set beads, too! Wanda did replace them, tho', sweet gal that she is.

paula eagleholic said...

Ha, have a few talons myself to reattach...but not super glue on those. Super glue works good on glass, but not plastics. I use another super bond type glue for everything else.

Heading over to a friends....bbl

Prayers for Karla, Wanda!

Getting ready to leave here early in the morning. Very excited to get home and see the kitties... speaking of kitties, how cool about Caro's cat returning - home she's as excited as we are! :)

Several asked this morning what is boxing day...The following is from Wikepedia:
Boxing DayFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to: navigation, search
"Christmas box" redirects here. For the genus of shrubs, see Sarcococca.
Boxing Day
Observed by some members and former members of the Commonwealth of Nations
Type Bank holiday / Public holiday
Date 26 December – Bank or public holiday
Related to St. Stephen's Day

Boxing Day is traditionally a day following Christmas when wealthy people in the United Kingdom would give a box containing a gift to their servants.[1] Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day, depending on national or regional laws. It is observed in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations.

In South Africa, Boxing Day was renamed Day of Goodwill in 1994. In Ireland it is recognized as St. Stephen's Day (Irish: Lá Fhéile Stiofáin) or the Day of the Wren (Irish: Lá an Dreoilín). In the Netherlands, Lithuania, Austria, Germany, Scandinavia and Poland, December 26 is celebrated as the Second Christmas Day.[2]

Although the same legislation—the Bank Holidays Act of 1871—originally established the bank holidays throughout the UK, the day after Christmas was defined as Boxing Day in England, Scotland and Wales, and the feast day of St. Stephen in Ireland.[3] A "substitute bank holiday in place of 26 December" is only possible in Northern Ireland, reflecting the legal difference in that St. Stephen's Day does not automatically shift to the Monday in the same way as Boxing Day.

In Canada, Boxing Day takes place on December 26th and is a federal statutory holiday where all full-time workers receive time off with pay.[4]

In the United States, where the day is simply known as "the day after Christmas", business owners give gifts to people who make deliveries. The gift typically consists of a fifth of Scotch.[5][6]

Good evening all!

I sure hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Christmas!

We got home from MILs just a little while ago. What a great weekend!

We had a very frightening incident at Sidling Hill....OMG. Steve had put the dogs back in the back seat of the car and I was getting in the passenger side front and still had my hand near the top of the back door and he closed it on my hand! I screamed, he didn't realize at first what happened so when he did a split second later, he opened the door back up to release my hand, and OUT THE DOOR RAN DAISY.

We were VERY VERY VERY THANK YOU LORD lucky....when we first got there, there was no one else there. As we were leaving, several others showed up, and thank GOD. A group of people was walking towards our car and Daisy just froze. Steve was able to grab her. WHEW!! If they hadn't been walking there, she'd have kept right on running.

My hand is fine, too!

magpie said...

Amazing about that cat of Carolyn's, Lynn....

Maybe it is the harbinger of good health !! Hope Carolyn will feel 100% better pronto !

Read the advice for gluing eagle talons back on, Thanks Paula.....

JudyE - I cannot give any advice about the Kentucky property, but I hope everyone involved an be realistic and cooperative about it...
You look GREAT in your avatar picture

Lynne2 said...

Then, we got to my In Laws. We settled in, unpacked. Steve took his mom to the store, my FIL and I put up some lights in the windows. As we were trying to get the ladder back out the door.....DAISY ESCAPED AGAIN!!!!! She got about a quarter of a mile down the road and found a very interesting front yard to stop in, and I was able to call her to me and she actually came~!

THAT DOG.....

Merry Christmas also, by the way !!

Just got off the phone with Janet and the conversation with Connie went great she has agreed to see the house by dec 31 2012 or buy us out she says she want to sell and then she informed Janet she had the floor repaired why when the house will probably be condemned so are just selling the land the house won't pass inspection Janet is sure of that the floors would have been one reason So we will see she said she had someone interested so Janet told her to tell them they had 45 days to make a offer and that if no offer we wanted it on the market with a realator so hope this works out

There are three buildings on the property

Lynne2 said...

but all was well, the trip was great....saw LOTS of hawks along 70! And MAYBE and eagle....I'm pretty sure it was, soaring above us!

There was a bit of snow on the ground at Keysers Ridge, and at Deep Creek, and some folks were skiing. But none on the roads, and very little on the grass at my MILs. But the wind was HOWLING like mad yesterday! Last night the sunset was just gorgeous, deep colors, the baby moon and Venus!

Lynne2 said...

we had just enough snow flurries last night to look pretty, and an uneventful trip home. We really had a great, relaxing time, and ate a LOT!

We also threw caution to the wind, literally, and took the Nissan instead of the Saturn. The Saturn is well over due for an oil change and we just didn't have time to get it done before we left. The car ran great and is SOOOOO comfy!

I sure hope you all had as great a weekend as we did! I haven't read back at all....I'm so far behind. But I hope everyone is feeling good. I will try to catch up.

Hoda said...

LYNNE I am so glad your hand is OK...it must be stiff and bruised though I rather imagine!!! Did you put ice on it? Does it hurt? Is it swollen? Was it the hand palm part or the fingers? OUCH either way...my arm hurts just thinking about it.

DAISY seems to have been a handful. Is it her habit to run like that or was it because she was in a strange place??? Is BRO cat still at the clinic? You have youer hands full...

JUDYE Families are great but sometimes when it comes to inheritance money or property some people go funny. I know that from my family in Egypt...so doing things by the rules is a good idea and it keeps everyones interest in kind...Will your sister want an extra share because she had the expence of the floor? My sister turned funny on me when mama died and there are still some hard feelings on my part because she does not realize what she did...at least she is in denial about spending my share of the money...she plays on my emotions and my duty towards her because I am now the oldest sister...I am number three and never expected to be the oldest sister except my two oldest sisters died and here I am...complicated family and inheritance...

Lynne2 said...

It was my fingers, Hoda....I had my hand on the part that separates the front and back doors, near the top. It doesn't close all that tight in that spot...it's hard to explain, but my hand was actually stuck in the door without getting too hurt. Not even bruised!

as for Daisy....she is a hound. Stubborn, independant and while she does listen for the most part when she knows she HAS to, once she gets loose, she is GONE. The lure of the smells and sights while she is free are too much for her to want to respond to any commands.

Brother was NOT at the clinic. To my horror and guilt, I found 2 pieces of the wrapping of 2 thin slices of liverwurst in his stool in the litter box late Friday night. Clearly, that was causing his tummy distress. That could easily have killed him. It doesn't show on X-ray. I am so incredibly lucky that it passed....I just cannot for the life of me figure how he got a hold of them. Clearly I was not careful enough and it could have cost him his life.

hedgie said...

Thanks for all support and love, gang.

I assume that Caro will just keep the cat....no real way to know if it left farm immediately and took this long to get home, or if it left more recently....she may be abke to find out more from her BFF's bro who used to manage the farm.

Lori, safe trip home!

Lynne, so glad you made it to Terra Alta safely AND back home without further mishap! Is your hand really okay??

JudyE---remind your sister that keeping an unsafe building standing is a nuisance and if condemned by the county, the cost of razing it can get steep!! SELL, SELL, SELL!!!!

Hi all! Back from Baltimore - loved seeing all the family but it's nice to be home as well.

Wanda, I didn't make it until midnight on Christmas Eve to go outside and listen for the animals talking! =) Maybe next year!

Loretta, what a wonderful gift your grandson gave you - I know how proud you must be and I'm sure Danny is also proud that he went back and finished what he started! Thanks for sharing that gift with everyone!

Suzan, my sister LOVES her Keurig!! But it's just for coffee, right? I'm not a coffee drinker (tea is my thing).

Lori, as many have said, you should read The Help! It didn't take me long at all to get used to the dialect and it really was one of those books where I was sad to get to the last page - I didn't want it to end.

Lynn, as we were driving home this evening, we saw Venus so clearly; thanks for the heads-up so I'd know to look for it and would know what I was seeing. Love the story about your daughter's cat coming "home" - will she keep him/her since the cat was so determined to make its way back? Sorry to hear that your other daughter is sick as well - hope it stays away from you!! I was also sad to hear about your candle holder - it's hard to lose things that have sentimental value; they are indeed priceless! I have a porcelain ballerina that belonged to my grandmother (I only met her a few times b/c she lived in CA). It's not a priceless heirloom but it means a lot to me b/c I have so few things from my grandmother. About 5 years ago, I knocked it off the piano while I was dusting. I caught it before it hit the floor and shattered but not before it hit the keys and one of the arms broke off. I glued her back together; she's not perfect anymore (I can see the crack) but at least I still have her. I hope you're able to glue the candle holder back together.

Bella is starting to show some small signs of improvement but she still has a long way to go before she's back to her old self.

Need some advice. While Brian is living in Africa, we are babysitting his Dodge Ram pick-up that he loves so much. We decided to drive it to Balto. so Brian could say hi to it. About a half hour from home, we realized that we had forgotten our DE EZPass. There was one from VA in the console of the truck, so we used it as we drove thru Dover (one of those toll roads where you don't even have to slow down at a booth). When we got to the next toll booth (a self-service one)it wouldn't accept the EZPass and we had to back up and go thru a pay lane (no one behind us fortunately). When we saw Brian that evening, I asked him about his EZPass and he said he had canceled the account before he left for Africa. So here's my dilemma. If we do nothing, a violation notice will be sent to Brian in WV (where the truck is licensed) but he has been in Africa for a year so his mail isn't even being forwarded anymore. So he likely won't get the notice but WV DMV will still have a record of the EZ Pass violation and the fine may keep increasing if the notice is ignored. Who should I call tomorrow? DE DMV where we have an EZPass account? VA DMV where Brian HAD an EZPass account? Or WV DMV, where no one has an EZPass account but the car is registered and licensed? I have no clue!! I'm sure you folks can help me figure it out!

OK, off to watch some TV!

Sometimes I have read on the blog CRS...what does that mean? For me it says Canada Revenue Services and you don't want to mess with those guys...I am sure this is not what it means on the blog...I think it is LORI that uses it with a sorry to follow...does any one know what it stands for? Thought I would ask...

Sandi said...

Hoda CRS = Can't Remember Shit! Aren't you glad you asked??!! =D

Hoda said...

My tendency SANDI is to phone where the truck is registered...if there is a citation against the truck it will show up and you would be informed.Easier to trace...I am sure that the other two might have some information but mostly where the truck is registered is where it is legal and they would have all the information...give it a week or so first though for things to move it is a holiday time of year after all...I hope this helps. It is only my opiniion though...take with a grain of salt Canadian rules sometimes are different from US rules too...

Hoda said...

SANDI CRS...HA HA HA HA HA!!! It is an excuse I could use with CANADIAN REVNUE SERVICES...They scare me...LOL

Sandi, I would start here:
WV DMV
That should lead you to the right place. Definitely deal with WV since that is where the vehicle is licensed.

hedgie said...

Hoda----now you know!!!!! CRS is a common expression for older American's!!!!

It is Carolyn, my oldest, who is currently sick, AND whose cat returned. Imagine she WILL keep it.

Sandi, my Grams was my hero----I cherish so much of her stuff. Used her china for Christmas dinner, as always!!! So glad you rescued your ballerina!

Hi,

Did some reading back just now. We were so busy yesterday that I just wanted to sleep today, so I did. This evening, Will came (at Kathryn's request) and fixed ribs for dinner.

So very nice to hear from Judie today. I have missed you, Judie. I can picture your kitties racing madly through the house. George still gets crazy sometimes. Susan gave George catnip for Christmas and you would think he was having seizures.

Lynn, so sorry that your daughters have been sick. Maybe you should hope that the sickness you had was what they had and it's over.

I think we all understand how you feel at this tough time in your life, but we are all hoping for good things for you. I remember how I felt when I had my cancer diagnosis. It does change your life, and a part of you appreciates each day in a new way.

stronghunter said...

Yesterday, Will, Susan and James (her boyfriend) came to celebrate Christmas with us.

We had a Christmas breakfast, opened gifts, and enjoyed each other. (Kathryn and I had let Hunter open his gifts before they got here.) James and Susan assembled Hunter's basketball goal. (Hooray!)

Kathryn and I had kept the basketball goal in her SUV ever since she picked it up, and we took Hunter out to see it where it was. Kathryn was able to drag it out of the back of her vehicle while Hunter and I watched.

Then, Will, Kathryn, Hunter and I went to Alexandria to visit Rus and Rebecca. Susan went with James to visit his parents in Colonial Beach.

Rebecca's mother and brother are visiting from California, so we got to meet them for the first time.

stronghunter said...

Hoda, Lynn had to define CRS for me just the other day!

Hoda said...

I just watched a wonderful program on Her Majesty The Queen. THE CHANGING FACES OF THE QUEEN. From when she was three years old till the present. I have a lot of respect for her...GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

stronghunter said...

Things I learned about Rebecca's mother:

Prior to her retirement, she was a school superintendent in a prison school system in California.

She did not begin swearing until she became a school administrator.

A friend who was formerly a hippie convinced her to buy the long velvet skirt she was wearing yesterday.

Judie said...

Oh my, really sorry about the votive candle holder, Lynn. If super glue does not work, I will take that as a sign of a new beginning for the next 30 years -- not unlike Carolyn's cat returning after such a long time.

Margy, I sure hope your elderly neighbor lady got the heat restored. If not, I should hope you will threaten to boycott any 911 requests from the repair person.

Margy, a good soak will do you well. I think many experience a let down after the build-up and excitement of the holidays.

Judy, sure hope everyone will be cooperative about your parent's property. Nothing to be gained otherwise.

Lynne2, I do hope Santa brought a very, very long and a very, very, very strong leash with Daisy's name on it. Glad your hand is okay and Daisy, too. Scary when the animals get loose.

Ah, Hoda has provided my laugh of the evening - CRS. Yes, I must remember that when my wannabe adults ask me questions.

stronghunter said...

Hi, Judie!!

Judie said...

And so it is time to bid farewell to another day. The night light is on for those who may need to arise in the darkness of night. May residual sugarplums dance in your dreams and the love of the blog family keep you warm and comforted until the dawn breaks through with tomorrow's light.

I know for me, it would be a pleasure to be on,thenhelping end where you are concerned. Know how deeply you are loved and let your fears and concerns be shared here with those who love you so very much.

Glad to hear Carolynnis feeling a little better. Hope tomorrow she feels even better.

Judie - So good to hear from you as well. Hope you and Darth had a good Christmas and you can rest during your break.

NCSuzan - Thanks so much for your post. As much as I love Christmas, I am glad the "pressure" is off and we can relax a bit. Getting my life back in order is really what I am looking forward to. Our son, Michael is in town until Friday. Next week will be my week to really start catching up.

Hoda - Loved your CRS question! That was a good laugh tonight! I didn't know what it meant either.

Wanda - Praying that Karla is doing okay tonight after her surgery. I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 35 and like Kay said, it certainly solved some rather severe problems for me as well. I wanted lots of children, but God had other plans.

Sandi - Happy to hear Bella is doing a little better and your trip to Baltimore was a good one. There is no place like home, though!

Loretta - Touching gift from Danny. I know you are so proud of him.

Shirley - sounds like your Christmas was busy and happy. Glad you got some rest today.

Lori - Praying for safe travels, for you tomorrow morning as you travel home.

I am sure I missed some, but I am exhausted and Dennis is waiting on me to go upstairs.
