STEVE, thanks for the nice new thread ! I've put out the call.

Just doing a quick check to see if my puter problems have been resolved. Looks like it.

LORI, love the Val n' Tino. Seth does use the computer sometimes, but hadn't since Sat. night. I always delete cookies, etc. once he goes home. He goes to so many sites and I know that's how some glitches can occur.

I'm off for a haircut and then back home to the A/C ASAP ! BBL

magpie said...

Well this is great!

Thanks Steve, we are always ready, us chatterboxes

Thanks Kay, for the alert - Glad you are back on the Computer, how IS the Dinosaur doing now ??

Hello Sharon, the authoress of the title "Sycamore Palace" for our Royal Nest

bringing this over:
Family Dollar has a very impressive collection of Father's Day Cards, by the way...
most only $1, some two for $1

We all know some Great Dads to remember on that day, brothers, newphews, sons, etc...and if you are blessed to still have your Fathers here with you ♥

Kay said...

Hey, SHARON, good news about the vision---remarkable !!!!

bringing over....

KAY - if you're lurking I hope you have your computer back together. I asked earlier about Seth using it because I've seen my nephews get on my Mom's computer and tweak it the way they like it to work and they just figure you'll like it better their way. Of course, they're playing mega memory/graphics video games and you just want to blog and go to Sporkle! I think. You could really be a drag racing, eagle loving granny in disguise! Kidding. ♥u

Thanks for the new thread Steve.

Thanks for the call over also.

Lori thanks those pictures are great. The new enclosure should really be better for them. I just love how they care for those eaglets and Buddy. Any animal taken into there is in "specal hands". Thank you from me/us to the Rescue!!! ( :

Well have to head out and pick up Mom.

I'll check back in later.

magpie said...

Yeah, Sharon, keep those Eagle Eyes up and running and well-tuned !!

Have a good day, Dana...
hope your Mom is doing well, with no more neighborhood thievery !

Kay - I use C-Cleaner every day, (thanks to Jo's Ed...)
and other clean-out things,
clean up the C-disk from time to time, and defragment...have to keep this old bag o'bones computer going until I get a windfall in my paycheck like JudyE did !!

I read that the Wildlife Center of Virginia has received over $50,000 in donations since they took over the raising of the NBG triplets. That is wonderful, they need and deserve that money!

WANDA - WCV just got 210 thousand from a Chase/Facebook promotion.

NBG got 110 thousand. They each got 10 grand for winning the "first round" then going onto the next round they both placed in the top 10 with the number of people who "liked" them on FB.

I had a great group of kids this year. I actually sent out an email to all praising the children, how quickly they learned and how attentive there are, just too much to write on individual report cards, but it is always funny when we (my aide and I) are trying to come up with fitting comments.

My room is just about finished. I think I am going to feel like I don't know what to do with all my time!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO OUR JUDIE AND FRANK...love that couple!♥♥

Judie didn't tell us why Darth is getting the honor of LORD FAIRFAX, but, I suspect that it's for the very good care that he extended to Judie while she recovered from her broken ankle;)

magpie said...

Oh DanaMo - I bet that feeling will pass quckly, what to do with all your time
Congratulations and Bravo on a Job Well Done!

my tomato plants....finally a second little teeny tiny tomato...lots of yellow blooms, but things seem stalled out...
have not seen any slugs yet, but I think something is getting into the blooms !!

Costume Lady said...

Lori, that is wonderful news! I did vote or Like for them, but didn't know they had won any money. They do wonderful work there and are worthy of that $$ award!

Costume Lady said...

Those slugs, sometimes hide under the pots, Margy. Are there aphids on the plants?

Yes, that is my sweet Daddy. Probably 1940.

I must say, I have a whole new respect for School Teachers since hearing stories from all of ours. Didn't know there was so much work involved!

Good afternoon, everyone.

Thank you, Steve, for the new thread.

So much to catch up on today.

Megan, I hope your Vincent is okay wherever it is. How's the market business these days?

Lynn, I really think I need to report you to PITA. Poor Liesl. Bet she was surprised. Of course, now if she misbehaves in the slightest, she has an excuse - you dropped her on her head when she was still a baby. Got plans for the grands this summer?

Lori, thanks for the arthritis tip. May give it a try. Aching joints are so out of control.

Kay, glad your computer is back to work for you. Get your "do" did real pretty.

Dana, enjoy the birthstone ring. Nice way to remember, isn't it?

Sharon, glad you're doing better with the vision.

Happy Anniversary to Laurel and Joey. Sure hope they have a special day today.

Got lost again!

Cool names for all of your vultures, girls! Megan, was Maddie thinking of Vincent Price??

JudyE...hate to say it but the marshmallows sound gross! I wouldn't buy any of them! JMHO!

Nice, Dana, for that dad to customize for the baby.

Revamped enclosure for the NBG eaglets will be so fun for them! Looks pretty cool!

Thanks for call-0ver, Margy. Sorry I missed it!

hedgie said...

Only 75° here and it has sprinkled a bit.

Judie said...

Okay, had to post or the blogger cop would get me.

Wanda, tell Father Capt. Gene he has no competition. He's still our Capt.

Thank you so much for the anniversary wishes. Some days it seems like more than 28 years but sometimes it seems like a lot fewer years.

Lord Fairfax received the nomination for his volunteer activities in the community for the past 20 years. He is head of the oldest continuously operating neighborhood watch in the U.S., he has raised thousands of $ for Childrens Hospital in D.C., he serves as a FFax County Park Authority Board member, he volunteers at the Easter Egg Hunt, the Mason District festival, and the summer concert series 3 nights each week in the summer. We'd be rich if he got paid!

So, with all that, I sure wish he would do more volunteering around the house but then I'm selfish. It's like being married to a plumber who has leaking pipes at his own house. lol

Taking it easy today. Since we have to go to the buffet tonight, I don't want to have to clean myself up (or down) again. Anniversary present: I don't have to cook.

Also, AC/new furnace are scheduled for tomorrow. Yippee!

Enough about personal stuff.

I'm sorry I've forgotten to mention all the important activities for so many of you. Short attention span.

Going to check out the critter cams. BBL

hedgie said...

Judie, no special plans yet. They are in their first day off----bet they both sleep all day! Speaking of slugs.....ha,ha--just kidding!!!

Tell us again what Darth's honorific is for, please. King of the Neighborhood Watch? King of the parks?

Wanda, nice pic of your Dad! Reminds me of my uncle! They were SO young....as were all our soldier boys then.

Judie said...

Doing a Margy.

DanaMo, don't know what happened but hope the "tooth" thing is okay or going to be.

Shirley, enjoy the time with your teacher pals.

Andy, guess you have tons of transcription to get done. May it go quickly and easily.

hedgie said...

LOL, Judie, we were both typing about Darth at the same time! Ooops on me!! Darth deserves the accolades!! Give him our congrats again! And, of course, we dstill remember how well he kept us informed of your recovery!!!

Yah, I was married to a carpenter for awhile...didn't get much carpentering done at our place either !
But I spent a lot of years with a Firefighter/EMT - always felt very protected on that front !!

Oh heck, think I'll just keep the leopard print pj bottoms and go out like that! I'll fit right in around here....

No, I won't embarass my Momsters friends like that ☺

but by dragging my feet, I just got a nice call from my sister in Massachusetts...☺

Jack and I just finished our "walking" and I am covered in sweat!! Need to cool off before I head outdoors. I see some flowers that missed getting watered this morn and their heads are drooping.

Lynn, I am with you on the marshmallows. Last year or so Kraft came out with caramel swirled through marshmallows. Thought the boys would love them and ended up throwing them out. Just give them plain marshmallows. However, they do no get marshmallows except when we are roasting them in a fire.

Judie said...

Color is really nice at the nest. Just wish it were not MT.

See NZ has a bone chip and is being kept out of the new enclosure. Those poor eaglets must be wondering why everyone seems to just keep disappearing.

Phoebe Allen is looking pretty on her tiny nest.

Hornsby babes are growing. Look really windy there today. Adult supervising.

I'll admit to this much -- he deserves more than Lord Fairfax for what he went through taking care of me. Medal of Honor maybe.

Jo's here!

PA Nana said...

Hi everyone!

Happy anniversary to Judie and Lord Fairfax and Laurel & joey.

See the cam is down AGAIN! Those darn ants. NCTC must feel as frustrated as us (or is it 'we'?).

Brain is a little foggy lately. Fell Saturday and really messed up my knees, shoulder and back. I was trying to step onto the porch and went "boom." Vicodin is working on the brain but not the bod too much. ☺

Max, daddy and mom were here overnight Saturday. He's such a "ham" but you can tell he goes to school and is around other children. He's picked up some bad traits that mom has to harness before next fall.

Jim & I and got our eyes examined and new glasses. I can finally read in comfort. Broke mine and had to use an older pair for quite a while. Caused a few headaches, but am fine now.

Shirley, 'your' time is getting closer and then you won't have to listen for that school bell. Yipee!!

Have to check back to see what happened to Liesl.

"Hi all,

EagleCam is back up. We're still adjusting the audio volume. It'll probably be a couple of days before we can rely on the feed being stable. So, please be patient if it goes down again. Thank you."

The above is post 36 in Camera Problems Thread at the OC site. It was posted yesterday June the 6th in the evening.

I thought to post it here, they were expecting it to not be stable for a few days.

DanaMo said...

oh boo hoo! I was ready to see some eagles! I can't believe it's down again. I want to see them a couple of days in a row before I drive over. Is there a gathering coming up? Did I read that somewhere?

hedgie said...

Shar---I sure don't see how they can fit! I know they were going over on-off ramps rather than under the bridges.....but yeah, there are bridges without ramps on 81, so......a real circuitous route I guess! Maybe you can see them!

Mema Jo said...

PA Nana I am so sorry to here that
you fell and got some boo-boos.

WANDA was right that community service is so admirable. I was very excited to read that the Lord raises funds for Children's Nat'l Medical Center! And, we had a trivia question this morning that no one could answer so we've donated the American Girl Doll prize (kahani or something like that) to Children's! What a wonderful place it is. Home after a long day in town.

Before I went to town. I left the house reached the car unlocked it. Started driving and hear this terrible noise. Stop got out and checked "a flat tire". I did make it very slowly to Sheetz (Judie ( :) and put air in it. I got to Mom's and told her she needed to drive her car. Following me until I good till if there was a leak. Finally I figured it was. Got it to Rogers and left it there and went to places with Mom. Roger's found a small nail in the tire.

Thank the Lord the tire didn't blow on I-81 that it all happened at the house. PRAISES IN ORDER !!! THANK YOU LORD FOR TAKING CARE OF ME !!

Mom was a lot of help....she say's don't thank me. I told her yes I will and she has to accept it. She wanted to know why. I told her, "Because you & Dad raised me like that". lol

Yes Judie enjoy your time out tonight with Darth. Darth you have really been "hiding things from us". That you kind of guy you are. Don't talk about it..DO IT !!! You are to be commended for all the things you have been involved in. Which of course is why they are doing that for you tonight ( :

Kudos to Lord Fairfax Quite an accomplishment You are one lucky woman. He's a keeper Huh!I heard he hooked up with someone the blog a while back LOL It was when I was blocked from the blog I can't remember who said it I just remember laughing by butt off

I too was married to a carpenter who never did anything I built my daughter a barbie doll house when she was little
I installed every ceiling fan in the house there and everywhere I move too So funny Angie told me that he dad bought a ceiling fan over a year ago and it is still sitting in his living room (using as a coffee table)for real) When Angie was over there a couple of months ago she said hey dad do you want me to see if Mom would install your fans I just think that is tooo funny and to this day they aren't installed . Odd that a couple of months ago I messed up my garbage disposal something was stuck and I used a handle to try to free what was stuck somehow I popped the thing out of the sink and it was just hanging there Well I called Angie to see if she knew someone that knew how to fix it and she said something to her dad in passing and he came over with my son Tommy and he ended up fixing it Tommy couldn't understand what he wanted done so Tom just laid down on the floor and fixed it I was shocked! and thankful
If anything needed done he would alawys send a crew over to do it from the job site.

MAGPIE I can't believe how many peep do shop in their pj. Crude people We get all types I love the people of walmart site, some of those picture are just disgusting

Are you all keeping up with the trial???? I am watching it right now and every night I love it that it is reruns season I have a lot of stuff still on the DVR but it can wait
LOLLY
do you live in a rural area to go walking in or woods ???

I guess you could say I live in a house complex or subdivision I guess that what it called my neighbors I say to my right the house is 100 feet she has too plots of property I live on the curb My property is like a piece of pie 45.5 across front yard 110.2 across back yard one side is 90 and the other is 122.6 there is another house next to me that is almost the same dimensions but his is only 84 across back yard really odd looking on the plat map Square footage is 1247
I live in HARMONY Heights Ilike the name
So when I go walking I have sidewalks and lots of house as scenery not good scenery to look at we have a Pinellas Trail that goes all over the county all the way south and over to Tampa hundreds of miles of trail But I don't like to go by myself so I don't do much walking here I love going walking when I visit June love the woods she lives is so nice . It sound like most of you live in the woods I would love to live in the woods but that will never happen to the best of my knowledge

MOVIN was here for more than a split second YEAH JIM good to hear from you

I have used Avon Skin-So-Soft(oil-type spray) for years (and there are some Avon towelettes that are also nice)
for trying to keep bugs at bay, seems to work pretty well and I am very lavish about putting it all over
I also use Off DeepWoods or Cutters spryaed on my bibs sometimes to try to ward off ticks
also, there are some natural products which include rosemary and other things that are nice, and good-smelling!
I saturate a big piece of papertowel, put it in a baggie, and put that in my pocket for
refreshing the treatment when I am out in the woods...
Hope something works well for you.
If I get a bite, I rub it as soon afterwards as possible with rubbing alcohol also

wish I had read all that Before the event and shared it here with our local folks

otherwise out of all the I read, I have saved one article about Dame's Rockets aka James Rockets ☺

might try to splash in the creek at Swinging Bridge with James sometime or another also

Thanks MARGY!
I just came in from watering and have about 20 bite/welts that I've already sprayed with Benadryl anti-itch stuff and they're still driving me crazy. Totally forgot about Skin-So-Soft from Avon. It's also good for keeping gnats off horses ears when you're out trail riding. Scratch. Scratch. Scratch.
Taking a shower and off to bed.

KAY - I missed you tonight, but sure hope you had company and got your deck done. Keep that do pretty. I want to see it. :)

DANA WV - so glad you're safe. Flat tires are a pain! Glad you have your Mom.

Sleep well everyone.

Hi,

Reading back a bit.

Diann, sorry about your fall. I hope you feel better very soon.

Had a nice dinner at Chili's with my friends . . . old timers from way back--Melanie, Priscilla, and Diane. We have been working together for many years. We were at the middle school together, then moved to the high school. Diane later became a librarian and is now at an elementary school in the county. It was great to see her again.

Melanie gave me a pretty charm bracelet with an owl, a letter "S," the school colors and a cat on it.

Lori O. said...

YES JO - would love to meet up with DANA MO. JUDYE, LOLLY and KAY and HODA we gotta get you in town too.

hedgie said...

Glad you had a good time, Shirley!

DanaWV and Margy....DanaMo has a POOL!!!!! I bet they spend a lot of time in it!! Wish I still had one. DId I ever tell you that "he" filled in "our" pool a few years ago? ARGH! Too bad it wasn't portable!! But they are PIA's when you live in the woods----much more upkeep involved.

DanaWV, glad you caught that flat! And good that your Mom still drives! Does Roger still have a SharPei in the office?

JudyEddy said...

Happy Anniversary to Laurel and Joey today, too!
DANA so glad your safe and sound Tire blow out I hear are no fun Knock on wood I've been lucky I've had flats before leaving but no blow outs
Great you complimenting your mom to your mom Some times people forget where they came from but not this group I see clearly My daughter has said to me thanks for being so strict on her once.
Jordyn is really a polite 3yr old she even thanks us when we change her butt She is only pee potty trained so we still use pull ups Angie just laughs and says that just my job and Jordyn will laugh at that She says bless you when some one sneezes Oh and if you forget to say your welcome she will look at you funny and say thank you again
DIANN hope you feel back to normal soon a fall is bad its the landing that sucks.

So glad the Swinging Bridge was mentioned I keep forgetting to ask about it Where is it and does anyone have pictures of it I would love to see what you all are referring to

I also think the camera is Kaput

No early bird here no camera I will be sleeping in I love my sleep

Shirley I have never eaten there One day I should I guess

I HAVE READ EVER COMMENT

Swinging Bridge is in a rural area here, more or less in "Hedgesville" but more specifically,
Jones Spring, Berkeley County,WV
Years ago there was a one lane wooden low water bridge...that has been replaced by a fancier, higher elevation but still one lane concrete bridge
it spans across Back Creek.
Swinging Bridging itself, was a little suspension foot bridge that also spanned the creek
it fell prey to vandalism back in the late 60's - -
it's no longer there
Gene and Wanda have connections to the property from years ago
and can add to this
It sits on Swinging Bridge Road, near the intersection of Calvary Hill Rd, Hedgesville, WV, so maybe you can google it and see some of the it from "the air"
sorry it took me so long to answer!

Well the weather is so awful the Dragon Boat Paddling was cancelled for this evening...white caps on the water from the wind and rain while we did our exercises...so it goes...came back and had a bowl of ice cream instead, after all it is June. We never got higher than 56 Degrees F and twice we had thunder and Lightning and the rain downpours were so strong some streets were saturated...I got caught walking in one of them on my way to yoga class, but managed OK with a rain coat and an umbrella. Much of the same for the week is the forcast...sorry if I am talking too much about the weather, I wished I had some of your warm dry weather and smiled as the thought crossed my mind several times to day of your sending me some of your weather wishes from yesterday.

Hoda....I am waiting for you to send rain and cooler temps to me. I worked outside quite a bit today but gave up around 3. High was 97 but, thank goodness, low humidity. Went back outside after supper. 87 felt okay to work. Going to mow and do some more work tomorrow.

Judy...we live in a incorporated area in the country....called Briaroaks. Houses are on mostly 1 or 2 acres, but some have 4 or so acres. We have walked outside on the street but it is just too hot to walk now. There are lots of oak trees in our area, but it is not what one would called "woods". We "walk" indoors with an exercise DVD.

LORI, yes the kids returned, finishing off the deck cleaning, washing down the fencing, cleaning the windows across the back and sweeping my garage. What great kids, my hat is off to whoever raised them !☺ Seth helped by clearing the table following our Mexican dinner and by taking trash to the dumpster. Then he and I watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune while his parents worked. They took Malcolm to the dog park before dinner, so he was pooped and quite the laid back dog. The "do" is just the same. I started wearing it very short a few years ago and it doesn't allow for a lot of change. Just so easy for me to maintain.

MARGY, good practice to take care of the computer the way you do. I never had a problem with cookies and browsing history until I hooked up with this blog. The Norton anti-virus cleared them out routinely, but the blog has some strange sensitivity I don't understand.

JUDYE, I don't know all the technical stuff about the puter, but my guru says I have oodles of available space. I do keep junk cleaned out and defragment when needed.

SHIRLEY, so nice to have your friends honor you with lunch. The bracelet sounds lovely. Hope you'll get together with good friends frequently in retirement. I only have a few old friends here in Columbus, from the good ol' 60's and 70's, and we get together for lunch about six times a year. They are able to winter in Florida, so are away for several months each year. All other friends from that era have either died or moved to warmer climes. Have some nice new friends who also work at the Food Pantry as well as terrific neighbors. Enjoying retirement soooo much ! Hope you will, too.

HODA, too bad about the crummy weather. Hope the dragon boat racing will be possible soon. I want to hear that you've spotted an eagle out there !

Bummer about the cam. Not setting an alarm, but will probably "see" my dear Early Bird Buds in the morning.

Prayers for Diann and Donna---horrible to hear about those painful falls. Thinking of LYNN with her aches and JO with the breathing difficulties. Will ask the Lord to bless all Momsters and Dadsters !

Goodnight !

I got MAD today. While working in the yard I found two new armadillos holes. One near the patio and the other behind the AC and both going under the house foundation. Grrrrrr! I filled in one with water and dirt and put bricks on top. The other Jack and I shoveled in dirt and laid concrete edging on top. Of course, if they were in them they will dig out and dig holes some other place. They have not started tearing up the lawn but have been digging in the mulch in the garden. When they start digging in the lawn Jack will go hunting!

magpie said...

oh the armadillos

do you think this is birthing or baby season for them Lolly?

I've got the rest of the lawn mowed and flowers watered tonight, and have been working on getting stuff together to take to the beach...John and Ajay had given me a canister set some years ago that has lighthouses on them....was using them for spare change since I already had a set, so I got them all washed up to take to the beach.
