NCSusan Good luck with your bluebird nest - I love them - just be on the watch for those house sparrows! They are nasty to the BB

Kay said...

WVgal Dana, how do you add the Google tool bar so it can be used here ? I almost don't want to see it used because we have a lot of fun with misspellings here !

Mema Jo said...

WOW I was going to mention that a
SPLIT was coming - instead it got me!

wvgal_dana said...

Go to tools and click see if Google toolbar is checked if not check it.

wvgal_dana said...

Hi NCSusan nice getting to be here when you come in ( : Oh how wonderful a Bluebird in your box. I am hoping for one this year also.

Thanks WV Dana !

hedgie said...

Liz, we heard the saws and lots of hammering last spring like crazy up there at Maine.

Robyn said...

Good evening, hope everyone is doing well. All Caught up on posts finally been out most of the day and it sure is a beautiful one.

Paula Happy Birthday and hope you have a wonderful dinner with family

Has anyone heard from WVSusan? Sending good thoughts to her MIL that treatment is going smoothly for her

What is going on with the nest, kinda looks like an egg cup, caught the HP video this morning

hedgie said...

Hey, Robyn! Good to see you. No, haven't heard from wv sUSAn this weekend.....probably taking care of Grey's mom, I would guess.

Kay said...

Hi Robyn ! No visits to the nest since early this morning. Except for blackbirds bustling around like little French maids cleaning house.

I'm giving Belle and/or T til' 7 o'clock and then I'm going to head for the TV news and DWTS.

Mema Jo said...

Robyn - it's not really an egg cup - it's just a disarranged clump of straw.

Tori doing alright? Tonsils and wisdom teeth are almost sure things in the kids' lives now a days. Sammy,8 yr old,
has tonsils out after school lets out.

Mema Jo said...

I'm like you Kay - heading for 7:00 news... Need to see how Japan is doing

Come on birds

wvgal_dana said...

Nice to see you in here Robyn. Hoping things are going well. Is Tori doing good from the surgery?
I love you Mom's jokes ( :

Kay said...

Japan just can't get a break can it, Jo ? The aftershocks are as violent as most earthquakes around the world.

NCSuzan said...

Thanks Jo. I will watch out and see what happens.

Mema Jo said...

Looks as though Decorah is stocking up the pantry again.

Savahanna and Derek, one of which is with the eaglet... I wish they would go ahead and give the eaglet a name.

Costume Lady said...

I use IE and have Spell Check on my Google toolbar. I think it will automatically let you know of a misspelled word, if you set it that way.

DANA,remember my post on Just for Fun...it had 3 red x's and you wanted to know what happened...well, check it out ... I think it works now.

Leona said...

Evening all.

If you have access to my facebook page. I found to great picture of monarchs. I mean 1000's of monarchs.

Robyn said...

Tori is doing good, we saw her oral surgeo today and said she looks good. She still has her tonsils so far no problems with them.

Seems it just started raining but it is still beautiful out

I see all the grass/hay but why? Wouldn't they be leaving the nest now?

Robyn said...

I just noticed my cherry tree is in bloom, it must have just popped today, such pretty white flowers.

JudyEddy said...

speaking of blooms my confederate jasmine is in full bloom and the smell is just awesome I linger coming in the house -love just sitting out there and taking it all in lOL

hedgie said...

Bumble bees, wasps and flies, oh my.
8-legged creatures I did spy.
I love that spring has finally sprung,
But gotta say that I hate bugs!!

My poetry for the day.

SB count=2 for the day----not too bad....yet.

Mema Jo said...

Wanda - on FB your video came through fine. In fact it kept running and I
saw it twice with one click.
Did Gene call and say he is there safely?

Mema Jo said...

My 5 in a row dogwoods should be blooming by Easter. My maples are
starting - I sure need to have someone
come in and trim some limbs of these
trees.

Mema Jo said...

I am heading for some news......

BBL

JudyEddy said...

here if Fl we have the gross palmetto bug It flies and it is awful and that's all year round not just summer Silver fish is another one I hate. I have a couple of lizards that refuse to let me catch them to throw them out side but they are stubborn so if they want to live here they can eat some bugs for rent LOL

Robyn said...

JudyE flying cockaroaches I call them

JudyEddy said...

Belle on Nest

hedgie said...

JudyE, I said this morning that it smelled like spring---for a few minutes early on it even smelled like Florida!! Love jasmine fragrance!

Birds in nest!

JudyEddy said...

Rude Dude *TBird on Nest
Wonder if he is going to attack her tonight LOL

hedgie said...

Lovely colors---got a pic right before they came in!

Costume Lady said...

Wow, look at that color in the nest!

JudyEddy said...

poof

Costume Lady said...

Belle was looking up at something, still is...could be Lib?

hedgie said...

Poof!

Liz said...

Short visit.

Costume Lady said...

I think that pair come in the nest in the evening looking for a snack...no signs of making an egg cup (thank goodness), so I guess they are just sowing their wild oats.

hedgie said...

Got 2 pics in album.

hedgie said...

We have a kind of roach that is very similar to the palmetto's, JudyE. UGH!!! We also have something that looks a lot like the love bugs, but don't swarm like they do!

Wind stronger at nest than here---look at it rocking. TOo bad there's no eaglet for it to rock to sleep. :(

hedgie said...

Oh, Robyn, I went and looked---my cherry tree is in full bloom, too!!

Hoda said...

Short visit in lovely colours and the quality of the camera is great. Belle did not seem to tolerate Truder very much when he followed her in literally pushing him away as she moved a twig. What was she so intently looking at I wonder? An reports from the ground as to who is in the skies around the nest?

wvgal_dana said...

Wanda I even googled it..didn't look anything like what was in video....What is a conch? What are they used for?

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Gang,
Checking back in quickly. Looks like I missed a nest visit.

We are having strawberry shortcake for dinner again, to use up the last of some GORGEOUS strawberries. Need to go try to catch some evening news to see how Japan is doing. They just can't seem to catch a break!

Will be back later to say goodnight. Hope everyone is having a nice evening!

JudyEddy said...

look under the nest on the bottom left corner something white what is it looks to be moving

wvgal_dana said...

I think just a swinging limb/branch.

mariadangeloart said...

JudyE, it looks like a lower branch on the tree that you can see through the sticks of the nest.

JudyEddy said...

I took a little over three min video with my camera and am in process of posting to my face book and also I will tag to Nctc and NCTC face book page I use the real player I'm thinking about getting a YouTube acct but don't know if I will I love my real player

JudyEddy said...

I have tried taking pictures but get a flashback of my flash so I just do videos do flash involved

NCSuzan said...

Today is the first day that the Sidney eggs could hatch. Haven't checked the forum but she has had that look a couple of times!

Costume Lady said...

I went outside to rake a little before it got too dark.
The wind started blowing hard and the sky was very dark...came inside and it stopped.

DANA, you know what a conch shell is don't you...those very large shells that you put up to your ear and can hear the ocean:) Well that case is what the conch lays with eggs inside. I was so amazed at that...didn't know what they were. I have seen them lying on the beach often over the years and just thought it was a skeleton or something.
Did you watch the video? Those are the baby conchs falling out of the case. They are, of course, dead.

Costume Lady said...

Wind is getting up again, here. Some big splats of rain. Need to find a weather report...I remember from this morning that there may be severe weather this evening in Elkins and all down through most of west West Virginia.

JudyEddy said...

the color of the camera turns out so good on video KUDDOS to whomever fixed it

JudyEddy said...

Turd Return

stronghunter said...

Good evening.

I see Truder is in the nest.

JudyEddy said...

BELLE BACK

mariadangeloart said...

Belle and Truder....

JudyEddy said...

turd flew the coupe

mariadangeloart said...

Truder gone....

stronghunter said...

The nest is rocking in the wind.

mariadangeloart said...

What is in the nest with Belle?

hedgie said...

Belle in nest.....

JudyEddy said...

Poof Belle

hedgie said...

And poof.

mariadangeloart said...

Belle gone

hedgie said...

I think it's just more junk, Mariadeangelo. On full screen it doesn't look like anything identifiable---not a turtle.

JudyEddy said...

got a video I'll post on face book again also in Nctc page

JudyEddy said...

I was just thinking turtle also

JudyEddy said...

BBL going to download from camera to face book

hedgie said...

DANAwv, I've had one of those baby conch threads for about 30 years...it is my sea coffee table. Jo missed seeing it!!

Yes, JudyE, that's a limb shining white in lower left corner.

NatureNut said...

Evening Everyone. Just got a Still cam pic w/two eagles, & then one on Live cam. Guess it is Belle, if Turd left first.
I didn't like the blob in the nest, but if it is just a blob, will put pics in album. hmmm

hedgie said...

Wanda, tv said after midnight for storms.....hope they pass us by!

hedgie said...

Bet the light won't be on much longer.....hope everyone looked at the album pic of the really beautiful colors on the nest a little while ago. Very unusual to get color like that---the sun's paintbrush at work, for sure.

JudyEddy said...

For a sec I thought there was going to be hp atleast twice

hedgie said...

FINALLY.....a Viennese waltz! My favorite dance!

JudyEddy said...

That visit was 7min 50 sec that is what I recorded still in process of downloading and the color was magnificent in the first visit

NatureNut said...

If nest is full screen, looks like white feathers blowing on the upper right part of blob. Then again could be cam noise. Whatever

Spent most of the day outside---manual labor digging holes & then removing, transplanting plants into big 4 gal. pots.A few more that had annuals need to be cleaned & then I'll be ready to plant new ones.
Got a pic of crabapple today--rain will probably ruin the petals.Don't know if redbuds at Park will be decent tomorrow!
Getting thirsty---today is time for iced tea!!

wvgal_dana said...

Going to catch some tv check in later

hedgie said...

A bit clumsily done, but......the music was lovely!

hedgie said...

Wonder where Shirley is?? Haven't heard from her all day, have we?

Hoda said...

Naturenut, there were loose white feathers in the nest earlier on. This clump was dug out by Truder from ten o'clock position outside of the cup area...there was no feather when it was first brought there. It must have blown with the wind. I see it now was not there earlier.

hedgie said...

Yep, light is gone for all intents and purposes.

NatureNut said...

Thx, Hoda. I hadn't seen the white feathers earlier.

Gonna fix pics for album~~BBS

Judie said...

Home from the vascular dr. All seems well. He was supportive regarding lack of exercise -- well, duh! We agreed to meet again in six months. Was there for over 3 hours.

Dinner is over, kitchen put together. Very tired now so going to head for the pillows.

Night light is set for 11:00pm. Restful sleep for all. Will try to catch up sometime tomorrow after school.

hedgie said...

Sugar Ray is so cute!!! My "hometown" boy!

hedgie said...

Good night, tired Judie! He better not have given you any grief----I'll take my eagle cane to him!!! Sleep well. Do you have classes tomorrow??

Costume Lady said...

Iced tea is a staple in our house, Loretta. I think my good health is due to tea...it does have antioxidants or something that is good for you. Hasn't helped my knee...maybe I should have soaked my knee in tea instead of getting all those cortisone shots over the years:)
Loretta, the Red Buds were in beautiful full bloom when we visited there, but I can't remember the exact date.

hedgie said...

Ralph Macchio did great!!

Lolly said...

Good evening! Dinner done, dishes done and now watching DWTS.

Beautiful day today...sunny and cool. Love it! Jack put in another flagstone path and I planted flowers. More to go tomorrow. Going shopping first. My boys need new sportcoats/blazers, so I am going shopping.

Decorah nest is full of bodies again. Also, she is presently upset about something flying around. She is fussing.

hedgie said...

Wanda, tea is 24/7 365 here!!!! Gotta have my tea!

Lolly said...

Talked with Laurel. They even had the electricity off for 1 1/2 hours today. She said the kids all came to school with tales of the storm. They had large hail in the neighborhood around the school and it came down sideways, breaking windows, etc. There were trees and fences down.

Lolly said...

Really enjoying the music on Dancing.

Lolly said...

It is getting dark and both Decorah eagles are in the nest. Guess they are feeling in the need for protection.

wvgal_dana said...

Lolly I thought they would have closed Laurel's school.

Christine said...

@Lolly, I see that too. Something has them spooked!

Lolly said...

No, too much involved with getting children home. You can not just close, you have to think about how they get home and is there anyone at home. She teaches in a middle school, 6,7. and 8th grade.

Christine said...

They really do work together at Decorah. He is always right there and is a great hunter!

I imagine that's the way Belle & Liberty were. I didn't know their nest before this year.

Ralph Macchio Rocks!! :)

Hope everyone is well. Just jumped in here after checking Decorah.

Lolly said...

2 eagles still in the Decorah nest, so strange.

Lolly said...

Christine, Belle and Lib did work together. He was a fantastic provider as well. When an eaglet hatched he loaded down the nest.

Christine said...

He just went after something. Neither of them are on the babies

magpie said...

LOL Lolly
you just got WAX

Good Evening Everyone

Won't be up watching the nest in the morning....have some things that must be done during that time

Judie I will do my best to find you some James Rockets... once they start blooming, they stay around for a loooong time...
beautiful lavendar, and also chartreuse...maybe we'll find some in Annandale when I make it down there

magpie said...

Yellow winter cress is starting to "bust out" all over here too...
it's a weed but it sure is pretty

back later, after I finish reading about you folks...

xo

hedgie said...

Lolly, the boys grow so fast, I'm sure! Can any of their nice clothes be passed to your youngest GS?

Leona said...

Well going to call it a night. My stupid computer chair came out from underneath me and now my hip and knee hurts. Going to go lay down. Catch you all tomorrow.

Christine said...

Think I'll take my Ipad and head for bed. Good night all and hope you sleep well!

Feel better Leona!

hedgie said...

Lolly, I loved the music, too!!

As far as closing school....those are the issues here every time they close due to snow---early dismissal or cancelled for the day...but parent's are supposed to have alternate plans in place "in case".....and they are notified by many means, so.....we rarely have to worry about the kids being on bad roads and that is paramount.

hedgie said...

Moon is finally big enough to throw moonglow on the ground---when there isn't a cloud in the way! Pretty!

hedgie said...

Leona--ouch! Hope there's no residual effects. Rest well. You, too, Christine!

Lolly said...

Yes, the boys grow like weeds. Joseph has had a blazer, but it is too small now and too large for Jacob. Also, in pants, Joseph is a slim and Jacob a regular. Zach is as big as Jacob, just not as quite as tall. The boys all wear out their clothes. And, Zach, the youngest wears designer clothes. No kidding...only the best for that boy! Hand me downs for him? No way, Jose!

Red said...

Ok. Storms are over. Nothing much to them by the time they got here. Just a little lightening and thrunder. Enough to get Scooter to panting and shaking. Did have Tornado watch out but no warnings. My bedtime now. Diane is up at 5:30 and I get up and have coffee and fix her breakfast usually.
See y'all tomorrow.
Oh yes....the was story was very funny....I'm glad men don't wax. lol

Red said...

There's my typo. Should have been The Wax story was funny........

NatureNut said...

Baaack! Put some home & Park plants on blog. Nothing spectacular yet!
Wanda, Margy had mentioned the redbuds in bloom when the gang visited 4-21-09!
I remember a couple years ago that I took pics of them along the highway in April coming back from Pittsburgh. In the dead 'puter, tho, but probably on backup disc. I haven't gone there yet!!!
We have some first year blooming rb's at Park. If it's not pouring, I'll see how they are in AM.
Speaking of that, must shampoo the do!
Glad/hope no one will have bad weather tonight!
If I don't return, Pleasant Feather Dreams to all ;>)

Costume Lady said...

Well, Red, your funniest typo, is the THRUNDER...or is there such a thing in you neck of the woods?

GrannieKay said...

Happy Birthday Paula!
I hate being a party pooper but I'm afraid I can't find the link for the conch video. Can someone please repost it.
Thanks
GrannieKay

Costume Lady said...

So, Loretta, 10 days from now, the Red Buds should be in full bloom, if we can go by the time that we had our Road Trip there. They are just about that amount of time from blooming full, here.

Costume Lady said...

GrannyKay...that video is on my blog, JUST FOR FUN...scroll down all the way to the bottom of that page and you will see the video:)

paula eagleholic said...

Evening, all!

Back from a very nice dinner and some chocolate cupcakes!

Got to play with the kids outside...and watch them jump on the trampoline...it was nice out...storm passed to the east of their house, but we got rain in Emmitsburg.

Then had some nice time with John and Ajay.

Going to work on some pictures!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, my crabapple tree is flowering! And saw lots of beautiful trees in bloom last night on the way home...lots around Annapolis, along the highway...very pretty. My redbud hasn't popped yet.

magpie said...

The evening nest pictures are wonderful, the colors, spectacular.
I am glad that Belle is the last one to have left the nest tonight, if I read that correctly.

Wow, I could use a guy like Red in my life! Coffee and Breakfast in the wee hours of the start of the day ! ♥

hedgie said...

Lolly, I hear you----I was thinking that would be the case with Zach!!!! Bet designer clothes wear out the same way the affordable stuff does!

Didn't know you were getting more bad weather.

Red, you are a good hubby! Know that Diane appreciates you greatly!
Glad your weather was tame.

Still no rain here. 69° still.

hedgie said...

Gonna head for the tub and get my bath BEFORE a storm blows up. Will check back before I hit the hay. Good night now to any who turn in before then.

Lolly said...

No more bad weather. Sorry, I was not clear. That was last night. When we were having rain and wind last night, tornados were touching down just south of us. We got up and looked out but did not check the tv for warnings.

Heading to the shower.

Night all!

Sweet dreams!

Lori O. said...

Oh, darn I missed you Margy.

Lori O. said...

Good morning all Eagle & nest watchers, and lurkers, too.

Cooler today with some spring showers to bring on those may flowers - can't wait!

Lori O. said...

PAULA, what an amazingly sweet son you have to do all that for your big day! What a lucky Mom you are.

Lori O. said...

If I didn't see the counter moving on the cam I'd think it was broken - it's pitch black in the nest this morning.

Kay said...

Hi Lori ! We'll miss you Margy !

My first look at the cam shows the glimmer of white tree trunks, so the sun is slowly creeping up on the nest.

Loved seeing all the signs n' balloons, Paula ! They did it up right for you !

Lori O. said...

Hi Kay - you bring the sunshine this morning! Thanks for making the nest brighter. :)

DanaMo said...

Good morning Lori and Kay.Good night Margy!
Just got up here in Hagerstown, heard the downpour at 5 and decided there was no way I was letting the flying labs out in that!

Nest is getting lighter...

Lori O. said...

LOL - good decision DanaMO. Three wet dogs might overwhelm the senses. :)

Kay said...

Thanks Lori !

Margy isn't here to remind me to refresh, so this post is the string around my finger.

That black blob is near the 7 or 8 o'lock spot. I didn't notice that it was back in the picture yesterday evening ????

Kay said...

Good morning DanaMo !

Glad you got a little extra rest due to the rain. Good thing those pups have good holding power, eh ?

DanaMo said...

Well after another college visit yesterday, my second oldest seems to have made a decision on where he is going to school next year. I have mixed feeling...He has decided to go to University of Dayton. I think it's
a good decision I just wish it wasn't 6-7 hours away. I pleased that he has decided to continue in college at a Catholic school, but that is far (oh and of course cost more)! Catholic U would have been alot easier.

DanaMo said...

I'm listening to the news and I can't believe gas prices! I think we should all start walking or biking wherever we need to go! Geez...

Lori O. said...

Dana - understand your thinking but better to get him out of DC.

floralgirl said...

Good morning Lori, DanaMo and Kay:)
Today's nest weather- Showers. Cooler with highs in the upper 50s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.

Lori O. said...

Hi Megan - thanks for the forecast.
Can you make it sunny tomorrow? :)

Kay said...

I hear good things about the U of Dayton, DanaMo. I didn't realize it is a Catholic university. I wondered what was taking you to Dayton when I read a post to that effect, what?, a couple of weeks ago ? Now I know "the rest of the story".

Ugh, gas prices. Another nice thing about retirement. I've filled my GMC Envoy twice this year, on 1/31 and 3/31 ! I operate pretty much within a 3 mile radius and just don't get out at all if the weather is iffy. I love to drive and have driven all over this country with 3 kids on board and often alone since they grew up. Couldn't afford to do so now.

Lori O. said...

Where are they? Here birdie.

floralgirl said...

I wish I could, Lori. It would be nice to have several days of sunshine in a row.

Good morning and thanks for the weather report Floralgal ! Sounds like we'll see a soggy nest later today. We're getting so much rain, too. May flowers should be gorgeous, though no match for the beauties you grow.

It's tough to take this temperature drop. I want it to stay warm and sunny.

My son actually found Dayton using Collegeboard.com. I didn't even know about it until we met with the guidance counselor for our senior appointment. When he asked what school were on his list that was at the top. I had never heard of it. We've made to two trips and are really impressed with the engineering program.

Looks like it's raining at the nest. Or is that the cam? I wonder if rain would keep them away?

floralgirl said...

Yes, radar shows rain at the nest now. Some heavy bands of rain about to pass over us.

Gracias Floralgirl.

Bring on the May flowers!

Kay said...

Just refreshed and still can't tell it's raining there. That may well keep them away this morning.

Blackbirds beginning to prowl. Occasional gusts of wind blowing through. Belle and t. must be hunkered down out of the elements. Maybe my leaving to read newspapers wil bring them on. There comes the color ! Greener every day ! Have a good day everyone and I'll see ya later !

Good Morning all!

Beautiful here this morning...60 with a great breeze. Took the dogs out for a nice long play in the field and walk when it was just barely getting light. Wish I could make a recording of all the birds singing!
