Morning Wanda...and everyone else...going to check Glo's Glimpses and the cam trail and be back in a few...

did mean to say white patch on Liberty's back - typed Belle but that is not what I was thinking

Hope everything turns out okay with GG and the biopsy

hedgie said...

Judie, don't blame you for not wanting to go out in the slop. Sure hope Darth feels better.
Does sound like your time in the kitchen will ne extensive!! Making apple pie is one of the most time-consuming baking jobs! Not too bad if you have help to peel, core and slice, tho'!
GARLIC in the smashed taters!!!
If you have the ingredients, a Greek dressing is always tasty!

Costume Lady said...

Oh, me too, Margy. Doctor kept saying 'cancer' and I kept trying to tell him not to let GG hear that. Why upset her if there is no cancer present? Hate when they do that! Sometimes, it is a blessing that she can't hear very well.

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning and you are already talking about apple pies - love them.

I need to go back a page

Oh, Wanda, I wish I could, but ALL trainers now say that striking just precipitates more badness. In a split second of anger and pain, I DID slap her nose a few days ago and felt awful, and cried and cried. But shrtly thereafter was when she started giving me lots of kisses.
I did use a rolled-up paer on my hand to try to stop her from some other behaviors....it only worked a few times.

Costume Lady said...

I guess a smack on the snout may work with some dogs and not others.
I do know that a smack on the fingers with Jayden stops him from getting into things that he shouldn't. He was starting to hit Karla when he didn't get his way and she smacked his fingers and he hasn't done it since:) No spanking, just smacking fingers and a stern NO, NO.

hedgie said...

I don't have sound at nest again...go figure.

Wanda, what Dr. are you going to for your and GG's lesions?

hedgie said...

Outdoor Channel DOES have current weather right!!

Good Morning to ALL in Eagle Land.

I've been reading about Faye's and looking at those pictures. Then over looking at Glo's where I left my remarks. That gal sure is a photographer..WOW (:

Prayers for Luna and Kathryn today being down in Fairfax. Yes I read where they should have changed the other appt. I know she is hanging in there. God please guide the doctors looking at Luna. So they can help with YOUR Guideance. Place you HANDS on Luna. Amen

Will be keeping you in prayer Shirley for Tuesday appt. about the facial scar from the accident. Please remind us again though...my mind goes places without me sometimes. (wink)

Lolly they really do have that all set up nicely.

Glo such beautiful pictures. Hard chosing but I left on the blog for Glo Glimpses.

Andy it sounds like you are getting down to the nity gritty so to speak "externship". (:

As far as the excitment at our nest. I was wondering the same thing Jo. Maybe one of our juvies back in the area to find a home.
Stop to visit good old Dad and Mom and found out. Kid you got to get out of here we got chicks in the nest. Sorry but we still loovvee
(stretching that out as if they are yelling it) you.

Hedgie-Lynn some nut shot an eagle in Southern West Virginia. Not only get hands on them but
beat them with eagle and regular canes!!!!!!!
So sorry for the developing behind you. I know the love of seeing the wildlife and wanting to keep them in the area. So HAPPY Mai did good
today these are for her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you (: Ed use to sometimes with our pups flip his thumb and first finger at the pups nose. Seem to do the trick.

BEagle sorry you had been watching and watching that you didn't get to see Decorah lay the egg.
Thanks for telling us ( :

Paula that makes me so so so happy they are building an enclosure for them. I have just wanted that so badly. That makes me a happy gal.(:

Prayers GG's results come back good.

Prayers for Lynne and Steve.
Sorry this was long but was catching up and commenting.

Well My Vote for Discipline is No painBUT something that quickly draws attention to the wrong behavior in an unpleasant way for the animal Some use cans of pennies, some spray bottles, others smack with a newspaper. None of these cause pain. All get the animals attention. If my dog were ever to draw blood on me and it wasn't about puppy teeth, I would probably go with the smack with a newspaper. It sounds bad to the dog, but it doesn't feel bad. Dex well he has had very little discipline. Just had that kind of temperament that my tone of voice made a difference to him. Daffy whom I still miss to this very day however, had all 3 forms of discipline on occasion. BUT I never caused her pain. Just got her attention to STOP that. JMHO

wvgal_dana said...

In driving today everyone around here please watch those gust of HIGH WINDS.

Costume Lady said...

Lynn, dermatologist is Eric Hurst on Shushruta Dr. All of GG's doctors and pharmacies are withing 5 minutes of her home, including the hospital...makes it easy on us both:)

wvgal_dana said...

I had my jacket on opened door to go pay lot rent. Big SPLASH right before opening storm door!!! More BIG SPLASHES--gusty winds and big forceful rain. I came back in and took off jacket for awhile. See if it slows up WOW!! Just about got caught in it. Someone (: was watching over me ( :

paula eagleholic said...

Winds have picked up all of a sudden at our nest

hedgie said...

Things started getting very bright---then darkness, wind and rain came and fog disappeared. Now fog is coming back.....weird weather.. weather bug says temp has jumpedto 45 but my outdoor thermometer says 37.

hedgie said...

I can hear the wind at the nest----yep, my sound is back!! Look at that tree swaying. Switch!! Lib out, Belle back in. Wiggle, wiggle.

Bird Girl said...

Hello everyone!

Do we still only have two eggs so far? I was hoping for three...

Mema Jo said...

Delphia, 2 is all we're gonna get this year. Should be fun watching them.

BWE has 3 eaglets now.

Bird Girl said...

Well, two is better than zero!!

wvgal_dana said...

Glo I like you have never had to smack a dog with anything. It was always my tone of voice. I would tell Ed "don't scream just lower and be deep with your voice and mean it". I have had different dogs; chihuahua/mix with something, pure breed toy poodle (just a few inches to make the toy but not enough to make the minature), airedales that were dropped off, pointer, Beagles two different types, German Shepherd, and our last three Terrier/poodle mix, chihuahuas, and our last three Lhasa Apso, Terrier/poodle mix, and LM Ed's chihuahua, plus the cat.

hedgie said...

Sharon....TRAIN was just on Rachel Ray!

hedgie said...

Sun is out! Belle is really fluffed and I can see rain there.

Judie said...

Okay, got a very few little items taken care of and now I am headed to the kitchen.

Paula, love garlic potatoes and can't believe the timing as I just printed a recipe for garlic smashed potatoes from FoodNetwork (Neely's). Also might add some blu cheese I have in the frig.

Found a way to access the cams. It's almost like starting fresh but after looking at NCTC I go back to the Bookmarks, click on Wildlife cams, then click on the cam I want. Sort of like starting over each time but it is working.

Speaking of which, looks like Belle tenting. Looks as if wind is increasing. Sunshine here with some increasing wind.

Wanda, I see my dermatologist about once a year to have "damaged" skin areas burned off. Painless. Mine are from sun exposure as a child. Damage doesn't show up until decades later. Have had two basil cells areas removed with biopsy and nothing more needed. Best to GG.

Will let Darth know his ladies are wishing him well. Thanks.

BBL

hedgie said...

Wnada, he is my dermatologist, too. Went to school with my girls. He is SO good-looking---whew! And very kind!!

Glo, spray bottle (even with vinegar mixed in) and can with coins have had no effect after the first few times. Mai even seems to like the vinegar water---go figure!

Dana, the Carolina eagles have always had the enclosure. It's an observation post they are building.

Judie said...

Taking the easy way out with the pie. Combination of filling and slices, both canned with pre-made crusts. Fancy it up using a Paula Dean recipe.

Okay, I'm not going to play Margy and am really headed to the kitchen now.

BBL

paula eagleholic said...

Wow, Dana, you have had quite a few dogs...and all different kinds.

glo said...

Hedgie well if Mai likes vinegar water I would certainly rule that one out. I do not think you are a mean mom at all if you use the newspaper. Especialy if she responded with kisses etc. Say Ouch!!! NO!!!! I know its easy for me to say. I am not there dealing with her, but drawing blood is NOT ok. Its not all about puppy teeth anymore. She needs to learn to play more gently. If its play I would use the tone of voice and OUCh first. If its aggression I would smack with the newspaper and say OUCH NO!!! JMHO but the price is right :-)

Lolly said...

Good morning! Having my laughs reading the blog. Apple pie and blu cheese dressing, huh? Have a great recipe for blu cheese dressing, Jack's favorite. Apple pie? Have one of those gadgets that peels and slices and Jack operates it for me. And, mashed potatoes....I love cooking the potatoes in chicken broth, then add whatever....garlic, cream cheese, sour cream...YUM...I am getting hungry!! However, none of the above for me right now. I am on a campaign to loose the extra pounds...down 7 pounds now.

Lolly said...

Had a cool front come through, only 44 here presently but sadly we missed the rain. Please send it our way!

Lolly said...

I have not had breakfast yet, so I need to go eat. See what you did? LOL

wvgal_dana said...

Just and I do mean just made it to pay lot rent between the furious gust of wind and rain.

Darth do get better..maybe Judie's receipe for garlic potatoes will bring health back to you.

wvgal_dana said...

Does anyone see our nest blowing around or the trees?

Costume Lady said...

JUDIE, is Darth any better today. We can't have him ill...we need him to take care of you and make us laugh:)

ROFLMBO at the thought of MAI LIKING VINEGAR. But then, I guess it's no more funny than Jayden liking sauerkraut:)

hedgie said...

Oh, yeah, Dana, tree is swaying big time!

Lolly, congrats----how many more #'s do you want to lose?

Judie, cheating is okay when it comes to cooking sometimes. Red dissed me because I use canned Sausage Gravy! Too much time and trouble to make from scratch for only one person!!

Glo, believe me....have tried it all!!!! Sometimes tone of voice or a sudden different pitch of voice works, but not always. Trainer the other night said she was just doing puppy nips. HA! Not with me---it more like grab and chomp....I know it's only the canines that are inflicting the wounds--they are curved like suture needles, and if one of us pulls back, r-i-p goes my fragile, old lady skin, and/or clothing. About a nother month they sayt before those teeth fall out, and then adult canines aren't so pointy or curved.

hedgie said...

MUD is the operative word outdoors right now......Mai is in crate in basememt waiting for it to dry----she's like a vehicle: running fast and kicks up the mud all over her hind end!

WIND, but temp is now 52. Sunny.

Mason's Update - Art Auction

I am lucky to already have a 5 1/2 x
8 1/2 card with his painting. I do treasure it.

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie - I wonder if the answer would be for you to have another pup and then they could play all their energy out and make themselves dead tired! I know - don't hit me for even thinking it!!!

Lolly said...

Lynn, I gained about 15 pounds on the trip and over the holidays. Trying to loose that but if it dips lower I won't complain. Told Jack I was going to diet for two months. He is so sweet and puts up with my lack of cooking. He is not suffering. LOL But, we are not cooking special meals. Weight gain was mostly due to lack of excercise as I had not been doing my walking.

hedgie said...

LOL, Lolly.....you were sitting so much on the trip while traveling, I know.....plus eating all those wonderful meals you prepared ab=nd ate out, it's no wonder you gained! But you are doing great!!

Jo....I know another pup would help....but just don't have the energy. As I've said, this is the first time I've ever had a puppy without there being an older dog in the house, too! Never realized HOW much influence there was.

hedgie said...

Margy, if you check in....power lines down on Ridge Rd. at Federal Hill. (Just up the road from where ex and my girls grew up and where FIL's orchard used to be).

Mema Jo said...

When the high winds come I hope they
can safely blow out of the nest some of those loose/astray branches........

Mema Jo said...

Hope the wind doesn't put the BWE
cam down. I can usually refresh and the lines go away... sometimes that is.

BWE I think I can see part of the chicks right down under her breasts..

I better eat lunch

Hi Jim - Hope you are having a good day

Costume Lady said...

Lights went out here, earlier, momentarily and are flickering right now. Wind is near hurrican force:(

floralgirl said...

Just had 26 mph wind gust. Lights have been flickering here, too.

Costume Lady said...

Wind must be stronger on this side of the river, Megan. Trees are bending to the ground.

floralgirl said...

That was just a current wind gust, Wanda, we've had stronger. Wind is scary right now.

glo said...

Geeesh it doesn't sound like such a good day there even if there is some sunshine. I only have the pop up on today. Nice to not see snow I must say.

hedgie said...

Nest is making me seasick!
So far, so good here. Left water in tub last night, so okay for flushing if power does go out. Just brewed an extra pot of tea.
Tornado warnings up for Baltimore area.....freaky Feb. weather.

Judie said...

Yum, Wanda. Love Lasagna but baked chicken has to be disguised (as in serious bbq sauce or tarragon butter). Enjoy.

Pie done and dressing made. Think I will add some dressing on my steak as I like blu cheese and steak. Lynn was correct. I am back upstairs and needing to elevate my swollen ankle.

Wanda, just have dr. tell GG it is sun damaged skin from working in the garden -- biopsy usually takes care of removal as sufficient tissue is removed.

Weird weather day. Nest is swaying. My house is sun, cloud, rain, wind, sun, cloud, rain, wind, etc. Very strange pattern.

Lynn, Glo has some good advice about discipline. JMHO

Lolly, keep up the walking and you'll reach your goal and then some quickly.

Darth is a little better. Had soup and sleeping now.

Dana, glad you got the rent paid.

Going to try to check nests and then elevate ankle. BBL

Judie said...

Our nest swingin' and swayin! So am I.

Hello Jim. Checked nests out your way and TH and WE have nice pictures today. Caught up on sleep? Hope so.

Savannah and Derek - nice picture also.

NBG down.

Really am going to elevate ankle. I mean it this time.

Mema Jo said...

By now Judie your ankle should be elevated! Good!

I am taking a break. BBILW

Gust clocked at 51 a little bit ago. Downspout off sunroom is moving so much I'm afraid it could snap off the rivets. Put a log against it!

hedgie said...

Vacuuming done. Now to dust and clean bathroom.

floralgirl said...

Eagle up at the nest. Think Lib must've brought food? Didn't see, but she's eating something.

floralgirl said...

Wow, that must be one heck of a ride in that nest. Wind is really rocking her around as she tries to eat.

Lolly said...

It was little and furry...the afternoon snack brought in.

OMG, Judie have I a recipe for you if you like steak and blu cheese. One of my favorites. You cook the seasoned filet in a skillet, then you top it will steamed asparagus (or leave it off) and blu cheese. Put it under a broiler to melt the cheese, then you top it with a reduction sauce. It is heaven!!

Lolly said...

That is a wild ride in the nest. Belle has now staggered back to the eggs.LOL

Looks like a squirrel.

Yay! The day is over. My Block 4 finished a little early and I was glad to release them.

Hi all. Just wanted to check in. This has been a most difficult week for us. Neither of us remembers being this sick, ever. We are almost no help to ourselves, let alone to to each other. We can barely get any sleep due to the coughing fits. With both of us so sick, and the dogs to deal with and no one nearby to help us out...

Anyway, Steve is feeling noticeably better today. I'm not. Ended up back at the Dr yesterday. Hopefully with the additional meds I'll be on the mend soon as well.

Haven't read back, too tired right now. But I hope you are all well!

NEW THREAD IS UP !

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone!
Didn't make it here last night--just too, too brain-fried after school. Got home kinda late, too.
Slept in this morning, and so did Emma, after she ate breakfast and went outside. Boy, our weather is truly Arctic today! High of 56 so far, and light rain started mid-morning, along with a frigid breeze from the coast. Supposed to get SNOW in Malibu this weekend! Jeesh!
I may be VERY busy doing transcription homework this weekend, so might not make it here often.
Sorry to hear that Darth has been "flu-ish"! Judie, please give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Prayers going up for healing!
Lynn, Emma has officially lost all her baby teeth, and the adult canines are a blessed relief! She was a very good girl for Hubby last night while I was at school, but found her second wind when I got home. Didn't show her a lot of attention, but she tore around the house like a maniac! Did eventually calm down, but golly!
Well, have to head out to Wally World for the weekly shopping. Will try to get back here tonight. Just in case, have put the porch light and the security systems on automatic timers.
Definitely down to "where the rubber meets the road" in school. The autopsy report I did yesterday was pages and pages long, and took 5 hours total to do! Pathology is not my favorite!
Be careful, everyone, and try to stay warm and dry. BBL, if at all possible!
