Good Morning Steve and all eagle lovers.

Thanks for the new thread this gorgeous, less windy Sunday morning!

Lori O. said...

I missed you all yesterday!

Had a B-Day party for my 13 yr old neice, Megan. That's a long, crazy day!
Went into crisis mode at last minute since the party was supposed to be for 4 girls, and they all had RSVP'ed, then one got sick and other two didn't show up! Kids can be so mean. But, the house was decorated over the top, tons of food and 13 yr old fun with beauty/makeover and nail stuff! Turned out great and Megan was happy. Tears were gone when she walked in the door.

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, all!

thank goodness that wind has stopped!

Eagle is snoozing!

paula eagleholic said...

Sounds like a great party for a 13 y.o. Lori.

paula eagleholic said...

Hey Lori did you hear we have an eaglet at Blackwater??

Lori O. said...

It was fun, but a lot of work, Paula.

I hope everyone has power this morning. There were a lot of outages yesterday.

I had one for two hours, about two hours before the party was to start. That was panic. Thought the vacuum cleaner died then looked around and saw nothing had power. At least I need to buy a new vacuum! :)

Lori O. said...

I haven't checked in a BW yet, but I read about the new eaglet. Isn't is just the best time of year? If that doesn't make you smile nothing will. ☺

Lori O. said...

Paula, Have you had a glimpse of the baby yet? When are they expecting the next one?

paula eagleholic said...

I had power all day, at work and at home.

Those fires along I95 were something! Haven't seen the news yet this morning, hope they have been put out.

paula eagleholic said...

Haven't seen it yet...Lynn has a pic on her blog and they have a couple online, and on FB too.. You can see the egg right near Mom's head.

Look NoW!!

paula eagleholic said...

Next hatching expected Monday or Tuesday

Lori O. said...

OM Stars! How adorable is that little BW eaglet. I just saw the pics. Bring 'em on!!!

Paula, that pic of you in the eagle nest on your FB page is so great! I love it!

OH, sorry, Shoulda said as least I DON'T need to buy new vacuum!

paula eagleholic said...

Parent stretched and settled back down now at BWE...might be Dad on the nest.

paula eagleholic said...

They had that nest at the Open House at NCTC, Lori!

paula eagleholic said...

both at BWE

paula eagleholic said...

both again at BWE

glo said...

Good morning everyone. I am glad to read the wind has died down in your area too. Goodness. Cute little critter at Blackwater. Soon they will be popping out all over :-)

paula eagleholic said...

chick in view at BWE

Lori O. said...

Dang, I missed the live shot at BW.

Taking care of Kate who has 2 fractured vertebra in low back - she's in much pain, but situated now.

Good morning Glo?

paula eagleholic said...

Switch at BWE...think that's Dad now, must have been Mom earlier.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, poor Kate. Is there anything they can do for her?

Lori O. said...

She gets an MRI on Tuesday to find out if she needs surgery. I pray not, but the pain is fierce.

Lori O. said...

rolling the eggs and wiggle wiggle. All is well at the nest.

hedgie said...

Good morning, gang!
Wind died down substantially overnight, but still breezy and chilly.

Margy, got the word on how busy you all were last night. Wowsers!
Girl power reigned, tho'!! Bet Andy won't be jealous at all!

Lori, what a sad thing for your niece. Kids are not only mean. They are also just downright rude.
So good that you could help make it a special teen year celebration for her!!

hedgie said...

Lori, is Kate the gal who came with you to NCTC? How did she fracture her vertebrae? Poor gal!
Prayers for pain relief and that surgery won't be necessary. Tell her Hi from the Momsters!

Lolly said...

Good morning! It has taken me forever to catch up on the blog comments. Last night I kept falling asleep!

Now, it is time for me to get ready for church. Will be back this afternoon.

Have not seen anything about TH. Has she laid egg #2?

Gotta run!

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning Everyone! The BWEaglet
is adorable as will ours be - love those dark eyes. I think that our nest's feeding position is not going to allow us to see much unless Belle & Lib stand off to the side.
I need to go over to the last thread
and see what went on this morning.

Lori take good loving care of Kate - Prayers for her recovery!

Be back Shortly

Lori O. said...

Thank you Lynn, Jo, Paula. Kate sends a hearty hello and thanks for the prayers for pain relief and that she won't have to have surgery.

Yes, Lynn, it was Kate I brought with me to the nest to see Hidey.

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning to all peeps in eagle land this not a wind gust day. (:

Lori I don't know Kate but I do know how to pray ... prayers for her pain and that she won't need surgery.

Yes kids can be rude to each other. I remember some of those gal friend times with my gal. It saddens me they can be a friend one time then next day not then another day yes. Lori sounds like she had a GREAT time though all you did.

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley I certainly don't want your doggies to go flying. When I read that about the big ears which I know they have. I love that part
about them. I just started laughing.

Thanks BEagle seen the htt on the other thread ty.

Margy sorry you are still having upstairs racket.

Prayers for Thelma's nephew and family continue.

I missed something somewhere about "the test question"??

Judie said...

Good morning!

Um, Wanda? Does the Capt. know you may be sleeping with the sandman?

Margy, welcome gift sounds like a good approach -- you, of course, can mention your working/sleeping hours.

About to head out for lunch. Chilly but it is so nice to get out after so many weeks of confinement.

Love the picture of the BW eaglet. One out and two to go!

Lori, glad all turned out well for your niece.

Oops, ride is here. BBL

wvgal_dana said...

Have a nice day out Judie you surely deserve it (:

floralgirl said...

Baby is showing at BWE!

Mema Jo said...

Love those eyes BWE

Mema Jo said...

Time for the 'cover up' BWE
Need to keep warm and also incubate
the other 2........

Mema Jo said...

When you get home Judie, let us know where you went for lunch.. Enjoy

hedgie said...

Well, Mai just had a rip-tearing run around the yard. Had the dirt flying from under her feet. Hope it wore her out!

stronghunter said...

Hunter and I will stay home this afternoon while Kathryn goes to the movies with her new friends.

Her sitting plan did not work out. So I won't be joining them. That is fine. I have plenty to do here. I remember how great it was to have my support group when I went through the divorce experience.

stronghunter said...

Kathryn has the most amazing collection of Tupperware. She got tired of messing with my collection of cheap stuff, so she has replaced it with her much nicer pieces. Some of mine was as old as Kathryn.

stronghunter said...

BBL.

hedgie said...

Have my Animal Advocates meeting this afternoon. Dana, are you coming?? 713 Buxton St.

hedgie said...

Good that Kat has made some new friends, Shirley. I don't know if they even HAD divorce support groups 19 yrs. ago! Not that I needed one.....I had great friends at work who helped where and when I needed it. Helped SO much that I was financially independent enough with my job that I didn't have to mess with going for anything. And the child support then was a total LAUGH. $80 a mo. for a 17 y.o.! Big, hairy deal as we used to say when I was young. That only lasted for 8 mos.---and it was always late!

T-Bird said...

I want to thank everyone for their prayers!! He is home now. My brother reports he is doing well. I know they both have to be exhausted. Zach will do after care in Charleston at CMAC.

He lives in Grandview, WV. He is 19 years old. He posted things on his facebook that show he wants to live. We are blessed that he survived.

Mema Jo said...

Going for a lunch break
Lynn - hope the meeting goes well

BBILW

paula eagleholic said...

So sorry to hear about Kate's back, Lori. Hope some meds help ease the pain.

Nice egg roll by Lib.

Lynn, my child support was a joke, too. It's much better nowadays.

paula eagleholic said...

That's good news, Tbird.

hedgie said...

Carolyn thinks there's a 2ndd hatch at BWE.......she nor Jenn saw shell from 1st one for last hour or two.....and now there is one.....stand up Lady B!

stronghunter said...

Eighty dollars a month is a joke for sure.

My child support was better than that, Lynn. I had two eleven-year- olds. Of course, I also had two who were over 18 and sometimes needed some help.

stronghunter said...

Kathryn hasn't worked out the support issue yet, but he is helping with child care expenses.

Mema Jo said...

Keeping an eye on BWE - there very well could be a hatch today.. I thought that was the same egg shell from the 1st hatch.... just maybe not!

hedgie said...

Keep eyes "peeled", please. Gotta go. Gonna miss mosot of the Daytona 500, too.....:(
LAter, gators.

wvgal_dana said...

Oh Thelma I am in tears...PRAISES ...I do believe prayer did help. Continued prayers...I know the family and you are so relieved.

floralgirl said...

That eggshell is from the first chick. Still two eggs and one chick at BWE

BEagle said...

Good afternoon.

I saw Lib just roll and wiggle. There's a big roll of fluff on the nest. I don't know if it's the same one as previous but it is a nice addition to the scene.

Two egg and one chick at BWE. They are in the open.

paula eagleholic said...

That is the same eggshell....Parent showing chick now. 2 eggs still present and one chicklet

paula eagleholic said...

Guess we have BWE covered!

Hi BEagle and Megan

BEagle said...

Quickly to be covered up once again.

BEagle said...

Hi Paula.

floralgirl said...

Hello:)
Ha,ha yep, all eyes are on BWE, need that eaglet fix.

Mema Jo said...

1:16 BWE You can see 1 eaglet and 2 eggs are still in tact. The viewing was only a few seconds but that is what
I saw. No time to look for any pipping

Mema Jo said...

BWE does keep looking underneath
Sure wish they had live feed but 15 sec is better than 30

BEagle said...

I tried eying a pip. Didn't look like one there but who can tell....could be underneath.

BEagle said...

Yeah. We can be happy with 15 second lapses.

Mema Jo said...

Hello all you 'egg hatch watchers'
Taking a break - tax papers need to be sorted.

Happy, Noisy Daytona 500 Sunday!!
T-Bird, so glad Zach is home & Lori, hope Kate improves steadily. Prayers for both and all in need.

Elec finally came on for good yesterday PM, so got to work on pics from Chelsea farmhouse office & post them, (NO-no mud tracks!!)
Did my bird count & see that you can count for more than 15 min. & for other days during count time if you wish. I might see what others I can get. You can enter5 photos, too, but don't know if it's only for count days. Will have to check the website. I could send them tons of grackle pics! LOL
BTW, for about 2 yrs. now I have not seen many house or purple finches! They were as plentiful as sparrows before???

NatureNut said...

Well, that's new~~~did get a sign -in page after commenting! Boo

Lolly said...

Second egg at BWE is hatching.

Lolly said...

Look quick at BWE

BEagle said...

I think it's time for little BWE chick to get some food.

All out in the open.

BEagle said...

No adult on the nest at the moment.

NatureNut said...

Chick & eggs showing at BW.

BEagle said...

I thought I saw a dark space on the egg the chick is leaning on. It's hard to tell.

BEagle said...

You have good eyes Lolly!

Lolly said...

It looks like the bottom egg at BWE is hatching BUT it could be just some straw.

BEagle said...

That's a thought. The young chick was actually leaning on the egg next to it.

NatureNut said...

Looks like a 2nd chick at BW. Now ther are FOUR whitish blobs in nest well!!!!!!!
Will put pic on blog

Mema Jo said...

lol BWE eaglet is so wobbly
Hope another is going to hatch today
However the 3rd one might not hatch until the 24th. That one best be 'Spunky'

Lynne2 said...

afternoon all! It's been a "HONEY DO" day, trying to get some projects done. Not the least of which is caulking up many holes and gaps in here (and there are SO many in this old house) in the hopes that at least SOME of the stinkbugs will exit to the outside. We'll be heading to Tracey's in a bit for dinner.

Lori, I don't know who Kate is but WOW, sounds so painful and I'm glad you are taking good care of her. Prayers that she can get some relief, surgical or otherwise. And those rotten kids not showing up to Megan's party...how awful. Glad you were able to give her a good party anyway!

Loretta, I've never seen Purple Finches here, but we sure used to have a LOT more House Finches than what we do this year. We had another huge flock of Grackles this AM, and they had were slumming with a bunch of Red Winged Blackbirds! Got some pics to post later.

Mema Jo said...

Something is distracting our eagle.
Maybe it's time for a switch

Lolly said...

Loweeda, anxious to see your pic. Have been watching BWE but only see one eaglet and two eggs.

NatureNut said...

Shoot, can't tell now if another chick. Maybe the 4th light thing was part of 1st chick, like wing or something.?!

BEagle said...

Same here. The light made is look different. The adult's shade helped to see what was happening.

Mema Jo said...

Lynne - did you see Dericks comment to Lynn about a spray to keep stink bugs out of the house?Fly spray... the stuff we use on horses works like a charm to keep these little buggers away. Any brand! Spray around your exterior door and window frames, poof - they'll stay away.
Now for the ones that are already in the house..Swimming lessons..I have a jar with a drop of dish detergent in it sitting on the counter with a sign on the jar that says "FREE Swimming Lesson". It kills em' but you do have to pick them up to escort them to the 'pool' LOL

As I have said - This year you may need a bucket!!

NatureNut said...

Put my BW pic on. Think it's just the one chick! Duh

stronghunter said...

Oh, I do hope we do not get more stink bugs than we have already been getting. So far, not as many as you in WV have gotten. Kathryn has gotten most of them in her room, and she has been flushing them.

BEagle said...

The BWE chick is stretched out and makes it look like two-ish.

Nice pic.

Mema Jo said...

Shirley that can add up to a lot of flushing - does it affect your water bill? If so get the bowl of water with some dish washing liquid - plop them in it and Instant death.

(Shirley did I use 'affect' correctly)
lol I'm a slow learner

NatureNut said...

I didn't take any bird count pics--but did have a couple r-winged blackbirds in w/the hoard!
Some that we usually see didn't show, so maybe I will count more times.

BEagle said...

I think I will go buy fly spray for horses. Sounds like a reasonable idea.

BEagle said...

Ha Ha. I like the bowl of dishwater.

: D

BEagle said...

FREE Swimming Lessons! : D

Mema Jo said...

BEagle - they don't even get a chance to try to swim! Instant kill!

BEagle said...

I will get a dish out right away!!!!!

BEagle said...

Do you save up a whole bowl full of them and then flush?

NatureNut said...

Love the NO MORE SB ideas! Fly spray for horses! Great idea. Of course, guess you have to reapply if rain hits your frames.
Guess we're not helping~~~we throw them outside!

BEagle said...

Affect is correct.

BEagle said...

Two on TH. I think they lost the 1st and this is the 2nd.

BEagle said...

Just a thought

Mema Jo said...

lol If you are throwing them outside dead - then that is ok.

BEagle when I get too many in the bowl, I then discard the contents of the bowl outside in the yard. I hope to heck I'm not growing them! lol

Thanks for answering my grammar question

Lolly said...

BEagle what makes you think there are two at TH and they lost the 1st? Just wondering? I have been wondering if they had laid the second.

Lolly said...

Wish horse fly spray and jars of dishsoap would take care of armadillos. LOL

Lolly said...

Forgot to tell you.....I have lots of daffodils open today! Yea!

Mema Jo said...

BEagle - Here is the IWS forum on the

Lolly said...

Would be glad to, JO, but I am afraid they would still be terrible wilted. Shall I enjoy this for the both of us?

I love them too. They are so bright and cheerful. I can remember the first time I ever saw daffodils. I thought they looked artificial, so perfect!

Judie said...

Hey Thelma. Positive news and will continue to send wishes for successful aftercare.

Lori, hope Kate is better soon.

Shirley, hope you are having a nice afternoon.

Went to a really upscale place called Bob Evans. Had a small elegant breakfast. The real pleasure was to be outside and to visit with my friend. From very different backgrounds but much in common.

Lynn, hope the meeting is a productive one.

Okay, need to check a nest or two. Did catch a wrestling match between Ted and Lucky. Fascinating. Went on for quite a long time.

Understand there was a big crash at Daytona.

Good Afternoon Momsters & Dadsters!

Kate & I both thank you for the prayers and nice comments - MRI is tomorrow. It's just one of the many things I love about this blog - the fabulously kind people!

Got a little peak of that little BWE baby a few min. ago. Big instant smile! You gotta love it.

Lolly, Armadillos? Wholly Moley!

Jo - Shhhh - you said taxes. Makes my stomach flip. There's gotta be a better way, eh?

Andy, I bet my Mom has as much Tupperware as Kathryn. I don't remember a moment of my life without it! :) Guess that's why it's still around.

Oh Jo - thanks for reposting Derick's Stink Bug comments - I never wanna miss a good one and I'll try the fly spray got horses, too. I plan to have a whole battery of backup plans this spring in case one stops working!

paula eagleholic said...

Aha, he is outta there

BEagle said...

Check you later!

paula eagleholic said...

A feather floating around just landed on Belle's shoulder

Lori O. said...

Flying fluff - FF?

BEagle said...

WOW. Now THAT is fluff!

Lori O. said...

Looks like Spanish Moss for plant baskets!

BEagle said...

: D

Belle is trying to spread it out and it keeps balling up on her.

paula eagleholic said...

That stick that is straight up is on the left side of the nest, Belle was trying to move it after she came in

paula eagleholic said...

It's pretty nice outside, went out and scooped the yard, threw the ball for Nugz, and cut down some dead stuff from the front yard...got a whole yard bag full.

Didn't realize I was out of yard bags, otherwise I'd do some more in the back.

BEagle said...

That stick probably bends and tickles her back.

BEagle said...

You start clipping just a little here and a little there. Pretty soon you get 10 bags full of stuff. It's amazing.

The city provides the bags for us here.

paula eagleholic said...

I think I've been thru 10-15 bags already....have some big grasses out back to finish up.

paula eagleholic said...

That's a nice little perk, BEagle.

How's the new job going?

paula eagleholic said...

Guess I'd better get some laundry started...

BEagle said...

Just fine on the new job. It's busy as all 'get out' but it's a good busy if you know what I mean.

Got to boogie.

BEagle said...

BTW....White Rock has a perfect egg cup formed on their nest. When did they do that? I do not know.

Thunder the Eagle

paula eagleholic said...

Lisa thought it was hard to tell whether egg #2 was hatching or not.

NatureNut said...

Good grief, Megan---NOT sleet! I thought it was almost spring part of this week.
Jo will be happy to know that I saw jonquil leaves a few inches up at the farmhouse office Friday. Will take a pic as soon as some open!
Daughter just called & she had a close encounter! They went to some friends' house who weren't home from church yet. She went in back yard where they have mini-pins in an enclosure. There are also some cats around. She sat on ground & had hand thru fence, petting dogs. She saw something black out of the corner of her eye. It was a skunk 2ft. from her!!She hauled & so did Jimmy! It kept roaming & later went back towards trees & they smelled it had sprayed!!!Good, not on them!

Mema Jo said...

Just read about Thunder - a few facts in there I wasn't aware of...“In nature, female eagles don’t let male eagles eat with the family"

hedgie said...

Hi again. What have I missed? Need to play catch-up. Carolyn admitted she was wrong, but I didn't have time to log back on puter and post her apology!!

Good meeting. GOt home in time to see the end of the race { :( }. Had to give Miss Mai a foot bath----she tried to dig to China when she was out. And got my steak grilled before it got dark!

Mema Jo said...

That is too close for comfort !!!

Loretta is the race over and who won?

NatureNut said...

Oh, forgot to mention that a 20 year old driver, Trevor Bayne won the race!!His 2nd race & 1st Nascar one!!He drives for the Wood Bros. who have been in race business for a long time, but hadn't won in 10 years!Trevor said they prayed to God before the race & he wants to do some missionary work!He was not signed w/a team full time, but bet he will be now. Sounds like the kind of young man Joe Gibbs should hire.

NatureNut said...

Paula, that was a great story. Hard to imagine having eagle at home that many years!

hedgie said...

Interesting story about Thunder. Learn something new every day, I guess!

Lori, didn't know (or remember!!) that you had horses.
Thanks, Jo, for posting Derick's info about SB's. I'll head for Tractor Supply sometime this week and get horse flyspray!
Shirley....they are talking "biblical proportion" SB invasioon this year! Think I posted a link to the story yesterday evening.

Lolly said...

Thanks, Paula, that was a great article about Thunder. Very interesting!

BEagle loved your explanation of your thoughts on TH. Understood that perfectly well. LOL

Judie, glad you had a nice lunch. Bob Evans has good food, too. So nice that you are getting more time out of the house!

My snowdrops popped today!!! Complete with a bloom!!!

Margy hope you get to see your brother and his wife.

Loretta your daughter did have a close encounter.

Ok horse fly spray will get some.

I keep a jelly jar with lid and detergent and water in it. I use the lid cause I'm allergic to stinkbug spray. It is like poison to me.

Beautiful at BWE...thanks for picture Loretta.

Oh by the way last night on news there was something about a guy eating a stinkbug sandwich. Did anyone see it?????

Be safe out there Margy and hope they quite down upstairs.

BEagle I love hats but like you they flatten by hair. They make my hair so flat and makes it look so thin. So I don't wear them but certainly would love too.

Dana, that stinkbug sandwich is totally gross! Sounds like something they would have done on that show a couple of years ago!

I didn't know that about female eagles, either!

Margy, hope your brother can make it down safely soon.

A great article about Thunder the eagle - thanks Paula.

Lots of things in there I didn't know either - drop a flying fish from the air and if she dives and catches it then she accepts him as a mate. Interesting...and cute! Guess most of us humans would be single if we had to do that!

Loretta, that too colose for comfort skunk smell is awful. One of my dogs has been sprayed twice! Awful. It smells like industrial garlic and something that just permeates your nasal membranes and doesn't go away for nearly a week! She doesn't go out to tinkle at night now if she's not on leash.

Goodnight all.

Prayers for all who need it. Thanks for your prayers for Kate and her back and pain, too.

Sweet Dreams to get you through the night and tomorrow's colder, wet weather.

Bedtime here. 1:30 comes far too early!

See you dark and early Monday! Night.
