Jo, you will see lines across the BWE image when someone has their car parked along the road where the nest is....sometimes it messes up the signal.

Thanks for the link Lolly.

Hope upstairs doesn't wake you Margy get some zzzz's.

Lolly said...

Yes, both eagles were at Vian. One was over the eaglets, the other kept moving closer and closer, edging the other away. I think it won out!

Have been on fb. Laurel sent a link to Attics and Under Liquidations. It took me to their fb page, so I shared it. It is Faye's house. The BIG sale is this weekend. Hope all goes well.
They have set it up nicely. See anything you want? LOL

Lolly said...

Now is not the time for BWE to have trouble, but it is getting worse. Big blue line now. Whoops it went away, but still a mess.

NatureNut said...

Happy TH to Everyone. Thx for new thread!
Partly couldy here, rain for the next few days they say & Very windy Friday!Hope the Chelsea Pond doesn't blow into the office!
Gotta get to Post Office & mail stuff for osprey book to Scotland.

Lolly said...

Have never seen such a big "garage" sale and, LOL, would you believe...there is nothing there I want? I can have, for free, anything...just take it, and no, there is nothing I want.

NatureNut said...

Saw Lisa's BWE egg pic of less than an hour ago. Crack all the way across. Now if Lady BW would just stand up, we'll be happy!

NatureNut said...

Mo0m BW is up!

Lolly said...

Still just a hole in the egg, proving that a watched egg...never hatches. LOL

I am off to eat breakfast and walk. Groan!

GOOD MORNING,

EVERYONE.

hedgie said...

I still have not seen the new eaglet....move, Lady B!

hedgie said...

Prayers for your friends on their loss, Dana.

Lolly, my 2 acres of woods are backed by more woods....don't think it will impact much EXCEPT that it is probably greatly bothering the deer and turkey who live back there. They aren't clear-cutting....just taking out large, straight millable wood.
I hope they don't take the big pine---suspect that is where the red-tail hawks live.

Lolly said...

Just ready to start my walk when I saw the hatching. Great pics Loweeda! I think now we all have an eaglet to cheer on. Life, at first, is not going to be easy for #3.

Lolly said...

There you go, Lynn. #3 is still partly in the egg, I think.

paula eagleholic said...

Chicks is view at BWE...that 3rd one is under there somewhere, LOL

Lolly said...

Maybe mom is removing the shell?

Mema Jo said...

BWE feeding going on

Lolly said...

Well, she insists on blocking our view!

hedgie said...

I doubt that they will develop the property anytime soon.
But I sure don't like seeing the broken trees that were hit by the felled by the big ones, and all of the treetops left lying around. Hope they come back and clean that up. Notice that it is encroaching on good neighbors boundary....they haven't gotten close to mine yet.

hedgie said...

Well, I still only see 2 at BWE.....both in full view.....

Lolly said...

How about a picture, Lynn?

Lolly said...

#3 still half in egg.

Mema Jo said...

Wish I knew exactly what I am seeing at BWE - I think mom removed the egg - Maybe? I see the two chicks clearly
Well until she squatted on them.

hedgie said...

THanks for pics, Loretta! Good sequence.

Lolly said...

Very good friend just emailed me that grandchild #4 is on the way. One of her daughters lives in Honduras and they are down there for a couple of months with her. She said they will be going back down there in Oct when this one is due. Need to go email her back. We had three grands before she had any and now she is going to be ahead of us!

hedgie said...

Interesting, Paula----do cars block the signal physically, or is it an electrical interference??

hedgie said...

Kathryn just posted on FB that Luna's surgery is now postponed until Tuesday. No explanation yet from her........grrrr. Poor Luna. Don;t these people realize that it's about 100 mile round-trip for Kat????

paula eagleholic said...

I don't know Lynn....Lisa had mentioned it, but never specified. I would guess physically, because some of the equipment is right there by the road.

paula eagleholic said...

That's got to be frustrating for Kathryn!

Mema Jo said...

Wanda just posted a video of the trail cam on FB - Very good coverage... black cat and more - lots more.

Donnie said...

Good Afternoon everyone.....
Looks like things at NCTC are going well. I was hoping to get rid of more snow today befor the rains start. It's just not melting very fast.

Mema Jo said...

Maybe Luna is regaining some of her sight - I hope that Kathryn can hold her own through all of this.

stronghunter said...

Oh, I can't get FB. I did not know Luna's surgery has been postponed again.

Will have to check with Kathryn.

Mema Jo said...

Ted and Lucky wrestling in their den

Mema Jo said...

Shirley from FB:
Vet is not going to be a round Sunday and Monday and is concerned she would not be available if she has any post - op problems. I could take her to a emergency clinic, but it would be expensive and they probably couldn't help her. This would have been nice to know earlier!!

Mema Jo said...

Hi Donnie - There isn't any sunshine out there today beyond all the clouds.
The rain will need to wash it away.
All is well at the nest ...
BWE had their 3rd egg hatch awhile ago

Donnie said...

Thanks Jo,
Thats good news. I hope they have as good of luck as we did with three. It's a lot of work to raise three !!!

Donnie said...

Ohhh big wing streach !!

Lolly said...

Oh, poor Katherine and poor Luna. Not easy to be dragging this out so long.

Heading in to change clothes and going outside to work in the yard. I have more Columbine to clean, larkspur to thin, and just general clean up. We were supposed to have a rainy day. It sprinkled this morning but now it is 70 and the sun is out. So...out I go!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Good afternoon everyone. I just wanted to report my bird inventory today. Been a very busy day.

Mourning doves, red-winged blackbirds, grackles, starlings, chipping sparrows, cowbird, cardinals, finches, titmice, chickadees, downy woodpecker, a chicken, red-bellied woodpeckers, nuthatches, white-throated sparrows, robins in the field and eastern bluebirds, dark-eyed juncos. One of the starlings has only 1 leg and he does quite well.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

A house sparrow, blue jays, crows, but no partridge in a pear tree! :-)

Lolly said...

Having a blueberry and yogurt break. Silly Annie is sitting here staring at my dish. Thinks she is going to get some. I was running out of energy, thought I better fuel up! I think I should have put lotion on my arms. The sun is getting to me.

Lolly said...

Would you believe...78? I do not like it, Sam I AM!!!!

Lolly said...

Well, Sharon, no partridge here either, but I did start the day with a rs hawk!

Lolly said...

Three in view at BWE!

Lolly said...

#3 still can not get his heavy head up. LOL Oh, there it is. I see his eyes! Come on, little one!

Lolly said...

Ok, back to the yard!

stronghunter said...

Called Kathryn. She is on her way to Fairfax once again. I will be picking up Hunter from the sitter, so I had better get rolling now.

Yes, Kathryn is worried about missing time from work and all of the driving, etc. She is exhausted.

stronghunter said...

I have a doctor's appointment myself on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I do not even remember the doctor's name. It is a dermatologist/plastic surgeon for my facial scars from the accident in December.

paula eagleholic said...

I see a little bit of tenting action from Belle.

Lady BW sure keeps those chicklets nice and warm :)

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
I am just now getting here--have been panda napping today after an intense English class last night. Was so tired last night I couldn't get to sleep, and up early as usual this morning. It's funny--Emma's been sleeping a lot today, too!
Am saying lots of prayers for Kate. I'm glad there's no surgery in her near future, but her condition sounds EXTREMELY painful!
Dana, hope you feel better really soon. Prayers! Prayers for the husband and wife who just lost her son. Prayers for the family he left behind, too!
Welcome to the 3rd BWE chick!
Oh, golly! Sorry to hear that Luna's surgery has been postponed again. I can understand why they decided to wait, though. But poor Kathryn! Prayers for her sanity, for sure!

hedgie said...

Oh, SHirley, I'm sure Kat IS exhausted.....and that 95 traffic is hair-raising at times. Hope her boss is being very tolerant.

hedgie said...

9 minutes before launch....

Ms Bookworm said...

Lynn, sorry for the commotion behind your place! Poor Mai! Emma is doing better today because the chainsaw gang has left our area. Hope those loggers clean up their mess by your place!
Well, I need to go shower and get myself looking presentable for tonight's class. Hope I find out something about where my externship will be, and when! Will be back later tonight, after school. Might be kind of late, because I have a lot of transcription to do. Have a good evening! :o]

glo said...

Geeeesh I guess I don't understand why Luna's family has been expecting surgery now twice and still no surgery. How hard it must be on them. I can't imagine the stress this family is under trying to help their dog. Well anyway I don't understand.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

What in the world is happening at the nest?

paula eagleholic said...

Belle really callingout and upset....something flew behind the nest from left to right.

she is still calling out!

floralgirl said...

Good question!

paula eagleholic said...

She is still calling out and looking around!

Lib may have been chasing something, swear it looked like an eagle flying behind the nest.

hedgie said...

OMG---I have sound from our nest....heard bird song! Belle is really calling out...Lib, where ARE you? I want off of here for a break!

Lovely launch! Last one for Discovery...:(

floralgirl said...

Something definitely flew behind the nest, but I couldn't tell what.

paula eagleholic said...

All's quiet, although Belle is still looking to the right and behind her

paula eagleholic said...

I imagine it's a no-fly zone there, just like we have for our airplanes. Think Lib did the 'escorting' out of the zone!

Mema Jo said...

I was watching the space shuttle launch
Following the lift off with cameras is amazing!

Our eagle is Tenting
BWE has pic of the newest - so little!
I'll need to call him Tiny or Peanut!

paula eagleholic said...

More calling out.

Mema Jo said...

Sharon I think you have the highest back yard bird count - don't forget there are 3 chickens and 1 cat (Oh Well guess he doesn't count).

So has everything calmed down at the nest.. ? I was still Plugged into NASA and missed it all. Could be one of the juvies from our past..

Mema Jo said...

Dinner time soon

BBILW

floralgirl said...

There she goes! she is really calling out

paula eagleholic said...

Now she is up out of the bowl and then started calling....off she went to the right...oh OK and there's Lib.

Mema Jo said...

Started to leave until all the commotion began.....
Scary to see her fly off and leave the eggs - really happy to see Lib take over.

Lib's egg roll was the best ever to see. The curled talons and he moved
those 2 eggs just where he wanted them.

hedgie said...

Missed all that---had to let Mai out. Still barely sprinkling.
But it feels raw out there.

Wouldn't it be something if it WAS one of the juvies, Jo??

I never tire of watching a launch or landing. So very sad to think that the program is near its end.

Andy, didn't know you had chainsaw activity going on, too.

movin said...

BWE is feeding the chicks. All look healthy.

magpie said...

Oh, I missed the launch, and the hatching (but not by much this morning late)
and the calling out at OUR nest....
but I did see the feeding of the 3 bobbleheads at BWE - if I had had live feed up I would have caught the calling out !
day late and a dollar short

Paula that was a great egg crack pic on BWE - if it was yours: Bravo !

magpie said...

I love the way Liberty tends the eggs ! Even if I did miss it this time

So sorry to hear of the delay once again for Luna ! Shirley...and Kathryn, and all: (( Hugs ♥ )) and prayers

magpie said...

funny Jim !! Same with me, they are very quick at that nest !!!

magpie said...

good to see you at a "civilized" time of the day !! ☺

magpie said...

like the flower report, Lolly, - what you were thinning and fussing with
and the bird report, Sharon...
hey how about quail ?? Ha Ha...

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Magpie, no quail yet but around here anything is possible.

hedgie said...

Sissy posted on FB:

Wow! They just said on the news that someone shot a bald eagle in Southern West Virginia! I am appalled!! That just blows my mind. Why in the world would someone want to kill such a regal majestic beauty!!!!!??????
Bring em up here! I know some people that would love to get their hands on them, DON'T WE EAGLET MOMSTERS????

hedgie said...

Doesn't that make you sick? If we all took our ragle canes to the perp, it would probably be more justifiable punishment than he'll get in this state!

hedgie said...

Cam is herky-jerky.....Lib came and left in a blur, and now Belle is blurry, too.

magpie said...

Sharon:
I sent you some ! did you get them, the quail ?? ( oh, just the card with pictures.)

Miserable report of the Eagle being shot....

Mema Jo said...

Jim BWE has a bird's eye view on you! lol

magpie said...

cam was all ghostly here too, time of the night I guess
Belle was pretty forthright about getting her spot back !

magpie said...

Maybe I got Sharon and Sissy mixed up and sent the card to Bluefield and not Bedford !

magpie said...

Anyone here ever read the book, very little and dear, entitled

hedgie said...

Fairly good evening with Mai....nail snagged me while we were playing ball.....3 blood-lettings total for the day!

stronghunter said...

Oh, lordy no, we don't want Lolly to pop.

I am so tired. Will be heading upstairs to crash. Still getting used to coming home, rushing to the sitter's, then fixing dinner for three and feeding pets while supervising homework. Of course, in the old days, I did all of that and fixed dinner for six.

Weather alarm went off again this evening for a high wind warning. At least it sounded before we went to bed.

Kathryn is supposed to take Luna back to Fairfax tomorrow so they can observe her. She is paying a fortune in gasoline money. This has been tough.

Shouldn't complain. We do have many blessings and we have each other.

God bless and good night . . .

Eagle Cam | Second egg confirmed in Savannah's nest

by NewsChannel 36

Updated today at 12:20 PM

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- It's official: Savannah and Derek have two eggs in their nest.

Both eggs were spotted Thursday morning as Savannah briefly left the nest to eat. The eggs are expected to hatch next week.

paula eagleholic said...

Belle tenting.

BEagle said...

Ha Ha. That's funny that you thought I actually saw the Decorah lay her egg.
That is too funny.

I have been watching that nest for several days. More than two days if you check my posts.

It's the way I talk I guess. WE nest just laid an egg too! And so did TH.

Just means recently. If I had seen the eagle laying the egg I would have hollered.

BEagle said...

Praying for you.

Goodnight ♥

hedgie said...

Shirley, you've just got to remember that you---along with the rest of us---have gotten a wee bit older since you carried that big a load!

Santa Cruz report for the week is up:
Santa Cruz
Rugged country!

hedgie said...

Aren't Derek and Savannah the eagles in the enclosure with the low-to-the-ground nest? WOw---would think there would be some kind of high observation post that they would have/use there where they would have known the number of eggs before now.

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn, I would have thought so too, but they don't want to get close and scare them off the nest.

They are building a new observation enclosure to be able to observe the eagles without being seen. They will also allow visitors to go into the enclosure to view the eagles.

paula eagleholic said...

And Derek and Savannah are at Carolina Raptor Center. They have a FB page...they didn't even announce it there. I posted it on their page.

magpie said...

Sure is a lot of Eagle Action everywhere!
I opened up Decorah just in time to see the parent get up, preen the area of the brood patch for a few mins, then re-roost..
Thanks BEagle and Jo for the links...

and thanks everyone else for all the info about the nests everywhere !

Having trouble sleeping, so I got up for a bit.

Paula, I knew that some part of the Carolina Raptor Center was in Huntersville. I am now trying to figure if that is where the eagles are. That is my hometown. It's a small town just north of Charlotte. I know it has changed since the last time I was there.

It is the headquarters of Joe Gibbs's NASCAR Racing. I have not been back since my mother passed away in 1993.

Sorry I missed AI tonight. Good to know they have some good singers this year. I watched some of the earlier programs, but life around here has taken a crazy turn.

Good morning everyone. We have a lighter snowfall than expected, probably like 2 inches. Phew I am so glad. Do need to get a path for easier walking to the neighbors though. Dex "feetsies get cold" :-) Anyway. I hope there isn't going to be lots of rain at the nest today. Tis the season still I'm afraid.

I have a new Glo's Glimpses where I am asking for your help to choose this months 3 entries. If you have a minute take speak and let me know your choices. I do value your input. Please leave your choices on my Blog if you could. Thanks. Here is the link.

Oh my stars GLO! I've just looked at the first picture, haven't even started your slide show and I'm blown away. You are such a great photographer. Do you sell them?

Good morning!

Have to take advantage of access when I can.

Congratulations to Savannah and Derek. Hope I can catch a glimpse of BWE babes today. Will also try to check in on Belle and Lib.

So sorry for Shirley and the dilemma with Luna and the surgery. Shirley, if Kathryn wants a second opinion in Fairfax, we had an outstanding vet and no hesitation in recommending.

Have not been able to access nests so really appreciate the updates. So weird. If I access NCTC and then try to open any other cam the computer freezes and I can't do anything. Very annoying to say the least.

Was scheduled for therapy this a.m. but have canceled. Raining and, for today, I just don't feel like going through it. Besides, Darth is having some flu type symptoms.

As I can't watch nests I think I will make an apple pie later on and search for some different take on smashed potatoes to go with steak tonight. Also think I'll make some homemade blu cheese dressing. Good grief, I sound like Lolly this morning -- Hi Lolly!

Going back to bed with my coffee. BBL

Good foggy, dreary morning. (???)
Miserable day out there.

From Pix Controller:
We continue to have problems with our ISP, Comcast, which seems to be dropping our Internet connection about every 1-2 minutes. We can't seem to stream our webcams at the moment but will continue to work on the problem.

Morning, all!

Judie, do you like garlic? Garlic smashed taters made with some extra sour cream and even some cream cheese thrown in is good. Also, parsley potatoes. Leave the taters in chunks, drain, and add parsley and butter.

Hope Darth feels better.

And hope to hear from Lynne today, too.

Great day to stay in!

I am sure it is a hard decision for Luna's family But at this stage of the game I would be considering a second opinion and since she is driving through Fairfax anyway.

I fought so hard to try to save Dex's sight. My Vet made an emergency referral to an Animal Hospital in IA and we were sitting in that office about an hour late. We made several trips and ran tests etc etc. We lost the battle and he lost his sight BUT I do feel like we were surrounded by Professionals who stepped right up to the plate to try to help and then helped me rule out cancer and pain and we are happy healthy comfortable and very loved but yes we did lose the battle to keep his sight. It would have driven me crazy too if my Vet hadn't stepped right up to the plate, referred me, gotten me right in. I have the peace of knowing everything we knew to do, we did do ASAP.

I need to jump on here so as to not be put on the MIA list:)

Had a good visit with GG, yesterday. Spirits and appetite were very good.
Doctor removed the 'thingy' on her cheek, because freezing it didn't work. Doing a biopsy...will let me know results in a few days.
I made an appointment to have some 'thingys' removed from my face. Must run in the family:)

I think I already mentioned it, but will again...Wild and Wonderful has a new Trail Cam video. There is a very quick shot of a deer running through the wood, which is rare these days.

An apple pie, Judie? And home made Bleu Cheese dressing...yes, you do sound like Lolly;)
Baked chicken and Lasagna for supper tonight. Making little nuggets for Jayden, he will eat almost anything. We had hot dogs and sauerkraut (New Yorkers) one evening when Karla and Donny were here and Jayden couldn't get enough of the sauerkraut!

Lynn, as a LAST RESORT, have you tried a rolled up newspaper on Mai's snout when she bites? I know, I know...my bad!
