Costume Lady said...

GROAN...on that 1:30am, Lori:)

It is sprinkling rain a little here, but it;s 42° and a low of 39°. which should pose no problems.

Lolly said...

72 here, Jo. Can you believe it! 7 at night and we have the house open. Wild!

Mema Jo said...

I just want to tell you that it is
raining here in the valley!!

Costume Lady said...

DANA, if you slip on here this evening, wanted to tell you that we went to Johnnies and purchased some soup cups and ham. Interesting store:)

Lolly said...

Wish it would rain here. Jack has set our sprinklers to run in the morning.

Lolly said...

Eagle at TH is LOUD, calling out!

Lolly said...

Jack is sitting outside. He built a fire in the chiminea. Guess I will go join him for a while.

Loretta....just lovin' your pictures!!!!!

hedgie said...

Lolly, sounds so funny to hear that it's 72° and the chiminea is smoking!!!!

Judie said...

Paula, thank you so much for the story of Thunder. What an amazing experience that must be over all the years.

Am tired tonight. Going out then doing kitchen duty -- still not up to full strength, I guess.

Do NOT like the sleet and rain comments but envy the 70ยบ

Will check the nest and then headed across the hall to find the sandperson. Supposed to go to therapy at 8am. Well, maybe not -- just feeling tired.

So, will be turning my light off but will leave the night light on for others coming in. Pleasant dreams for all.

Goodnight little BWE eaglet. Goodnight Belle and Liberty and the eaglets to be.

Costume Lady said...

Good Night, Judie and you've got to be careful of that SANDPERSON!

Undercover Boss coming on.....Pres and CEO of Mack Truck is undercover in the Hagerstown plant!

paula eagleholic said...

now it's snowing here

hedgie said...

No problems here, Paula, except that tilking isn't helping with visibility.

G'night, Judie! Hope that Darth is helping with the kitchen KP!
Rest well.....and don't start shirking on the PT!

hedgie said...

Parts plant he's in now is what my GM plant was like!

hedgie said...

If anyone is watching...the thing he's driving is called an order selector. Not easy to do for 8, 10, 12 hrs. at a stretch!

Lolly said...

Yes, 72 and the chiminea was smoking and it actually felt good. With it dark, even though 72 just a tad cool sitting still. We enjoyed it but I was ready to come in.

Paula, are you keeping an eye on TH? I saw one egg earlier during an egg roll. This is the third evening. She has bee calling out a lot! Quiet now but she is not asleep.

Lolly said...

I can not believe some of you are getting snow.

Lolly said...

Tilked and could see that Belle is tucked!

stronghunter said...

Trying to wind down after spending the evening grading papers. It is hard to get to sleep afterwords. I need to let my brain relax.

One parent has already accessed the electronic gradebook more than 125 times this year. The poor lady must not have enough to do. I understand being interested in your child's work, but golly gee. Helicopter parent?

Snow? I didn't expect that.

Luna's eye is spiking again. We are worried. Her surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. It is obvious that she cannot see when the eye is spiking. It also causes her to have a headache. I am saying prayers for her tonight. Poor, sweet doggy. She is the most gentle, loving dog you can imagine.

It got fairly warm here today, but has cooled down now. I know there is rain in the forecast for the week, but I didn't expect to hear you all saying that you are having sleet and snow.

hedgie said...

SLEETING here........

paula eagleholic said...

Now it's raining.

I have cauliflower ear! One of those on the phone nights!

hedgie said...

Shirley, can they still go ahead with Luna's surgery when there's a spike? Poor pup.....prayers!!

Lynne2 said...

evening all....back from a very nice dinner with our friends. Drove home in the SNOW! Just snow showers, not laying or anything.

I think the repairing of the holes, cracks and gaps have helped a lot in the SB problem. Not a single one to be found this evening! We also disconnected the fan in the bathroom (used to come on every time the light got turned on), and attached cheesecloth to the underside of the grate thingy. Time will tell, but this is the first time in months that we haven't found them in the bathroom or bedroom in the evening!

BEagle, hope you are feeling better this evening!

My cough is getting worse now. UGH. Third day of antibiotics and pred, and inhaler and WHY am I getting worse?

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Shirley, sorry to hear about Luna's eye. What will the surgery do?

Lynne2 said...

aw Shirley, so sorry Luna's eye is worse. I must have missed it...what surgery is she having tomorrow?

stronghunter said...

I do not know what will happen, Lynn. We have medication to take care of the spiking and are using it. When it happened on Tuesday, I was able to get the eye back to normal--as you see in the picture on FB.

But it took awhile. Kathryn used the medication--two kinds of eye drops and pills--earlier this evening. She took Luna upstairs awhile ago so she can watch over her and protect her. It was not easy to coax her up the stairs.

stronghunter said...

Laser surgery for glaucoma, Lynne.

stronghunter said...

Kathryn was told that there is an 80% success rate in dogs--that is a lower rate than with humans.

Lynne2 said...

oh OK. Gosh, poor little Luna. I'm so glad she has such a good family to love and protect her. Extra prayer for Kathryn. I wish she didn't have the extra worry of Luna with everything else that's gone on.

stronghunter said...

But they need to do it before irreparable damage is done, of course.

stronghunter said...

I have strong children, Lynne. They have had to be strong.

Lynne2 said...

Hope it goes well. 80% is still a pretty good percentage. I'm not familiar with this type of surgery. How soon after will they know if it was effective?

Lynne2 said...

No doubt they are strong Shirley....look at their mom!

stronghunter said...

Not long after their father left, I had a hysterectomy. They were my support group.

But I came home from the hospital to the bed I had carefully made to find that three of the four of them had been sleeping there while I was gone.

Nope, they did not make it up for me. I could not complain too much. They did everything else. They told me they had been sleeping in a "puppy pile." Everyone but Rus. He is the eldest son. I don't think that all four of them could have fit into the bed.

Then, three years later I had a mastectomy. And they were my support group again. In between those two events, my mother died at the height of the divorce mess.

NatureNut said...

OMG, Paula has snow??We had sprinkle/drizzle, but it's about 42°.
Been into techie mode.Picked up the DDR chip, & I put one in old 'puter before, but wasn't sure how to open this one! Went on Dell Support & had free chat. They sent me link for manual. Found some good pics of insides & printed them. Too late tonight as I see there is dust in some of the little grid work outside. I'm debating whether to use vaccumm or Swiffer. Don't want to suck out the guts!!!Maybe I'll let Binky dust it w/her tail!
Since talking about skunks w/daughter we recalled a pic she sent me. It's so cute, I put it on blog!
Concerning the Sandperson~~~if he is unruly and invades Judie's home, Darth can whack him w/her Eagle Cane!!!

stronghunter said...

Yes, 80% is pretty good if we can just get her to hang on until tomorrow.

stronghunter said...

I think Judie likes the sandperson.

Lynne2 said...

oh geez Shirley....what a time of it you had. I'm so glad they were such a help to you!

stronghunter said...

Everything hit the fan in the 90's.

Lynne2 said...

LOVE the pics Loretta...especially the TVs! I think they are pretty neat.

Well, I'm heading for bed. Have a good night and prayers for all!

stronghunter said...

Luna is better now. Kathryn just checked on her.

Lynne2 said...

oh GOOD LUNA!

stronghunter said...

Yes, those really expensive drops do miracles.

NatureNut said...

Oh, Shirley. Had not read back. So sorry about poor Luna~~puppy prayers for her. Hurts your heart--just like ill children.

paula eagleholic said...

Our nest is just a tad brighter.

Lolly, I haven't been watching
TH this evening, watched it earlier today. She's was 4 days between eggs last year.

stronghunter said...

We have been learning a lot about eye care.

Wish we could have located the breeder we got Luna from so we could warn them about what happened. They should not breed those same dogs again. Of course, it has been more than five years. They may already know.

Poor Kathryn is having a hard time getting Hunter settled down. He was really wound up tonight.

paula eagleholic said...

Glad Luna is doing better. Sure hope she falls into the 80% category.

stronghunter said...

There was some excitement in our neighborhood this weekend. Kathryn came home today to see a large blackened spot in the area behind several of the rental units.

Looks like someone's barbecue got out of control and scorched three backyards as well as doing damage to some of the houses (melted siding). We did not know anything about it when it happened. I hate to think what could have happened with all of the wind we've been having.

Guess the fire department did its job.

stronghunter said...

Just called Hunter downstairs and gave him a glass of warm milk.

stronghunter said...

I remember seeing someone using a barbecue in that general area a few days ago. This was not the best weekend to cook outdoors.

stronghunter said...

George is lying on a pile of my students' papers and purring. I hope they do not mind a few cat hairs.

stronghunter said...

I am jumping all over the place tonight. I hope I am winding down rather than winding up.

Hope I am making sense.

paula eagleholic said...

Egg roll at BWE and our nest too

stronghunter said...

Geesh, Hunter complained that he wanted the milk warm, not hot. I had it just about lukewarm. I hope he gets out of his "know it all" stage before his mother or his grandmother strangles him!

Gotta love him.

Mema Jo said...

Finished the tape - really good mystery
Shirley, please tell Kathryn and Hunter that I am saying prayers for Luna's health.
Sandman must be finished at Judie's because I see him coming for me down the hallway.

Good Night & Pleasant sleep for all.
Prayers for all needs/wants -
Hugs for all ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

NatureNut said...

Shirley, just recalled that after we had our Samoyed puppy for more than 6 months, he had a cloudy eye. The vet said it was congenital cataracts & we went to eye specialist for checkups for years. I did call the kennel that had the mother dog & lady said she had told the young lady who owned the male (our dog's sire) that it shouldn't be bred w/just anyone! Frosty never had to have surgery, as the other eye compensated & of course they have great noses. ☺
Hope everything goes well for Luna.

Gotta get off this machine, so
Pleasant Feather Dreams & Prayers to All ;>)

stronghunter said...

Hmm, I see a snowflake along with the raindrops on our weather forecast for Tuesday.

hedgie said...

Hmmmm....dozed through most of Brothers&Sisters...thank goodness I recorded it! Heard some really hard sleet while I was in and out of REM, but Carolyn says roads are fine. Temp at 35 now.

stronghunter said...

Thanks for all of your kind wishes. I am hoping and praying things go well tomorrow.

Luna does behave differently when she is not seeing, but it is a bit tricky because she uses her hearing and smell to follow what is going on.

But going upstairs or downstairs is tough for her. You can really tell something is wrong then.

NatureNut said...

Sorry, meant the kennel sold the sire of Frosty to girl who then bred him. Our dog was pick of the litter. Duh--brain is tired ☺
Good Night

stronghunter said...

I've had my glass of milk (cold) and am about ready to head upstairs for my winter's nap--going to be a short one at this point.

See you tomorrow.

Lolly said...

Gheeeesh, Shirley, you have had to be tough as well as your kids. LOL...at the thought of the kids sleeping in a pile on your bed.

Poor Luna...certainly hope the surgery tomorrow is a go and is successful. Poor pup!

Have been reading for a while. Was going to work on slides but it got too late after sitting outside.

hedgie said...

Lynne, so sorry you are feeling worse.....girl, what are we gonna do with you?
Cool that you have fewer SB's!

Possible 6" snow here by late Tues. AM.....but maybe 11" for Hagerstown.....geesh--too much disparity there for 20 miles!

Shirley, so glad that you survived the 90's!

Well, Mai is ready to go out. I'll get my bath, and check back in. For those going and gone: sleep peacefully.

BEagle said...

Paula, the article about Thunder was awesome. Thanks for sharing it.

floralgirl said...

Monday Night
Sleet and rain in the evening...then snow after midnight. Total snow accumulation around an inch. Lows in the lower 20s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.

Lolly said...

OMG Mr.Sandman is really getting around at all of your houses. I am really worried about this!

Lolly said...

Strange to hear that weather report, Megan....definitely spring here. My daffodils are blooming, it is warm and my flowering quince is leafing out.

floralgirl said...

Still winter here, we aren't out of the woods just yet. Perfectly normal February weather.

paula eagleholic said...

Megan, I like your forecast better than Lynn's!

Gonna shut it down for tonight, catch ya'll tomorrow!

Hugs to all ♥

Lolly said...

Well, our weather, though nice, is scary. We could easily have a big drop and then the all the fruit trees could be damaged. I can even see the buds on the oak trees are really swelling. Also, if it is this warm in Feb., what is summer going to be like?

Lolly said...

I am going back to my book. Can't say Mr. Sandman is here. Jack would not like that!

Nite all!

Sweet dreams!

floralgirl said...

I hear you, Lolly. That's why I don't like high 60's and 70's in February. Then it gets cold again and the plants suffer. My orchard buddies really start to sweat then. It can destroy a whole season.

Costume Lady said...

Mr. Sandman is certainly making his rounds tonight. He told me that he stopped in at Judie's and Darth got after him with and eagle cane, just about that time, Capt. Gene came in with 2 eagle canes and the Sandman was gone in a flash. Watch for him, ladies...he's coming your way!

Good Morning Eagle Fans!

Poor Luna! Shirley please give her extra scratches behind the ears from Auntie Lori. :)
And the same for George from my five cats! Hope you got to wind down. I'm always like that after a party or outing.

Lolly, you know I loved your sunny smile avatar, but this one takes the cake. Love it!!

Lynn if Hagarstown gets 11" of snow they can keep it - Forecast says only about an inch for Frdck.
Paula, sounds like you already got yours last night. We had some sleet.

Wanda - I'm gonna need to enlarge your avatar to see what's really happening in that pic! :)

Lori O. said...

Lynn, you're right - and now they're saying 2 - 4 inches in Fred. I just typed up DC weather, and pulled the following forecast from the NWS for the Nest: 4 to 8inches of snow possible in Shepherdstown. Poor Belle and Lib and egglets.

TODAY: Rain likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 46. North wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

TONIGHT: Rain before 9pm, then snow. Low around 26. East wind between 11 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.

TUESDAY: Snow likely before 7am. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Lori O. said...

Almost 7am and no one is up, or checking in yet. Maybe I'm the only one working today???

All is quiet at the nest still.
Looks like Belle is tucked in from the cold with her head under her wing.

Ms Bookworm said...

Good Morning, Lori!
I'm up early and trying to get caught up with what's going on.
Prayers for Kate (OOOOEEEE! that has GOT to be really painful! Bring on the SERIOUS pain meds!)
Please give Megan my belated Happy Birthday wishes!
Thelma, praying for your nephew Zach--Thank God he wants to live!
Paula, thanks for the "Thunder the Eagle" story. Fantastic!
Shirley, prayers for Luna and for her surgery today. Prayers for Kathryn, Hunter, and you too!
It's pretty cold here this A.M.--42 at the moment. Have been spending some time with Emma in my lap. She is a snuggle bunny! Really enjoying the moment, since she was pretty much uncontrollable on our attempted walk yesterday afternoon!
Well, sounds like Hubby is up now, too--he has the day off today. Better go make some coffee. Have a couple of bills to schedule for payment online, too.
Please keep an eye on the nest for me. Is that Lib on the nest now? Wish I could tell them apart better. Maybe coffee will help with that.
We meet my Sis-in-law for breakfast this morning. (Bro-in-law has to work today.) Will check in later today.
Hope everyone has a nice Presidents' Day! BBL.... :o]

Lori O. said...

Yuck, what is that in front of Belle's face? Maybe Lib delivered breakfast and I missed it.

Lori O. said...

Good morning Andy! Thanks for the prayers and good wishes.

How is that Emma girl doin?

Enjoy your breakfast and the Holiday.

Lori O. said...

Oh, Andy, I think you're right - key word think - Lib on the nest. I agree, though we'll wait for Paula to make it official! ☺

Ms Bookworm said...

I'm back for a moment...got a few bills scheduled to pay online.
Saw an egg roll and "wiggle, wiggle!"

Emma is doing great this morning--I'm about to spend some more time with her in my lap. She is VERY cuddly this morning. Pinned down one of my hands and gave it a complete bath, too!

Seeking coffee to wake me up. Will be back later today. :o]

Hi, Lori. I just checked the Two Harbors nest and the blog at Catalina. Looks like the second egg has not been laid yet.

WE cam is off line until the roads dry out and Dr. Sharpe can get out there, so we don't know if they have laid an egg or not.

Hi,

Settled down at my desk at work to plan out the day.

Luna could not see this morning. We had to coax her down the stairs. Not sure what that will mean, but I'm worried. Thank you for the kind words and the prayers. I do not fully understand everything the surgery is supposed to do, just that it should eliminate the need for as many medications and prevent the spiking if it is successful. But I do not know if it will be possible now.

I see the snow forecast for the WV folks. Oh, my. We had dared to think of spring, but it is still February.

Have to get busy now.

hedgie said...

Have already had to give a foot bath this AM....and now I need to do SOMETHING to clean some carpet.....Mai apparently ate some of the dirt (or more likely a root or stick she got out of the hole) and has tossed muddy cookies. She also won't eat her breakfast.
I just want to cry.

Getting ready to go home on this traffic free Holiday morning!

Margy, Enjoy your days off.

Shirley, give Luna some extra lovin' from Auntie Lori. Gosh, I feel so bad for her. She'll feel your vibes so be calm & confident for her.

Lynn, I'm so sorry about Mai's love of dirt. Her poor tummy. Poor you, honey. Sorry.

Dana, Wanda, Jo, Judie: thanks for your special prayers for Kate and her back MRI today.

Paula, Yes, Kate has great meds, unfortunately they're making her tummy feel yucky and worse! Prayers appreciated.

Jim, thanks for the heads up on why the WE Catalina nest camera isn't running now. After Belle and Lib, they're my faves, so I hope the road survived the rains.

Sorry if I forgot anyone (and for taking up so much room) - Have a great day, stay safe in the bad weather. I'll jump on later tonight to see how Luna's surgery went.

Oh, Lynn! Sorry the problems continue with Mai. (((hugs)))

Thinking of Luna this morning.

Subject: Muslim Warning

Todays Is The Best Day Of My Life And Tomorrow Is Going To Be Better.

This morning the Muslim Brotherhood warned the United States that if US meddling in Egypt continued, they intend to cut off America's supply of 7-11 and Motel 6 managers.

If this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell, AT&T and AOL customer service reps.

Finally, if all else fails, they have threatened not to send us any more presidents either.

It's gonna get ugly, people.

More than a little concerned about all of you. First it was Mr. Sandman in your house, and now I hear Old Man Winter is about to visit. My my my!

No, I want to scream. Do not want to look at Belle sitting on a nest of snow. However, the OK eagle hatched her babies in a blizzard and kept them just fine.

paula eagleholic said...

Conflicting edits...haven't got that one in awhile...

Lolly, I would say it's the 2nd egg that hatched at BWE...3rd one's hatching date is the 22nd-24th

Lolly said...

LOL Wanda! I think the AT&T employees should go first!!!!!

I was watching that feeding at BWE with the flopping fish tail, Paula...
was thinking, maybe that was DAD trying to do the feeding. LOL
(sorry Dadsters....☺)

Good Morning Lolly, Jo, and everyone else checking in...

Dana, just my normal days off, and I might have to give up some of the time depending on the weather !
Time and the weather will tell

Paula, I was talking about how I could see them in the nest. LOL And, I know that changes. But, yesterday they were arranged with the baby at the top and then two eggs right below it in a line. I thought the egg at the bottom looked cracked.

Yesterday, on fb, a young friend (wife of Michael's best hs pal) posted that they had spent the day at Blackwater and saw snow geese and an eagle. They live in Baltimore. I was so jealous!

Time to eat breakfast and then walk.

Lolly, that bottom one is the one that Jo and I saw with the crack, too.

Margy, after the switch, it looked to me like it was Dad doing the feeding at BWE

Prayers for Luna and her family - this has to be a very emotional and trying time for all. I really hope the surgery is going to do the job!
Lynn - By now you must be exhausted and I bet Mai is sleeping. She sure is a 'Mud Doggy'. ((hugs))

My prayer is for Lib & Belle to weather this storm successfully as they have done in the past.

Good late morning, everyone.

Congratulations to Blackwater's second eaglet. Need to check that out. And, thank you Jim for waking up to sound the alert.

Our nest looks quiet. Cloudy. Couldn't tell if it's raining there.

Raining here now. Was not unpleasant when we went to my therapy this morning. Good session. Not doing too much but have to push a little with exercises or the ankle will not regain flexibility. Working now on learning to go down stairs normally.

Not going to speculate too much but think the Sandperson must be on steroids.

Lynne, hope you are better this morning. If not, a call to the dr?

Lori, forget if you mentioned the reason for the MRI but know my problem was a herniated disc.

Lynn, really sorry about Mai and her behavioral issues. Have you given some real thought to asking the vet about Prozac? Might be worth a phone call.

Shirley, you are an inspiration. Most of all, I do hope that if Luna had surgery today it was a success. Thinking everyone of us can empathize with you and Kathryn.

Okay, I really am going to stop now and finish the darn exam. Tired of working on it and, besides, I should take it to school tomorrow for copying.

Phoebe just about has her new nest whipped into shape, and the site owner is expecting her to start laying any moment.

I was just watching her in the nest, and she let out with a beautiful, loud call or song.

She's setting in the nest again, kinda looking like she's ready.

Still no further word on Luna. The doctor herself did come out and took her in when Kathryn got there.

Kathryn will have to pick her up and take her to an animal hospital where she will spend the night. The overnight stay at the hospital is $400. I guess she will get lots of attention for that price.

Good afternoon. I am late checking in today as I took my teen friend out to the dam hoping to see some eagles. We did see a few but it was quite foggy with some drizzle so didn't have the camera out for long. I let her use my camera for a little while which was fun for both of us as I taught her a little more about what to do, how I have it set and why etc. She is now off to play practice and I am home from the grocery.

2 little ones at Blackwater NEAT

Looks like Mom moved the big juicy fish out of the way at BWE....sure hope the 3rd egg is hatching, that would be great!

Good afternoon all! Haven't been by in awhile. Seems like a lot is happening!

Kathryn said that Susan may do the transport to the hospital for Luna. It's Susan's regular vet and near where she lives.

Hate the idea you have another winter storm coming. Have changed my avatar to the arrangement I picked this morning. Also, put the pic on my blog Hawkwood. Hang in there...spring is coming! (((Hugs)))

Phoebe apparently laid her first egg just a few minutes after my comment.... then I missed it.

I can see the top of the egg when she's off it though.

Hello Eagle Fans!

I cannot believe it, $400 for an overnight stay at the vet? WOW! Does that include the surgery? OMG.

I cannot get the TH nest, the WE nest, the Duke nest, or the NBG nest. What? The NC nest is very slow too!

The NC just popped on. Two really big chicks and an adult all cuddled together.

BEagle said...

A Stink Bug Burrito? What? How absolutely gross.

BEagle said...

Belle looks warm enough on her two egglets this afternoon.

The fish on the BWE nest adds a little color to the nest. The two chicks and one egg are underneath the adult at the moment.

BEagle said...

It may be raining at NC nest. The adult is making like an umbrella for two very large chicks. : )

BEagle said...

I finally got the Hornby nest again.
There are two adults there now working on sticks. Haven't seen HP yet but last year they were about a week behind the WE nest, two weeks behind the TH nest and three behind Belle and Lib.

(if I remember correctly)

BEagle said...

It looks like there's a split in the near future.

BEagle said...

The Vian nest looks good. The chicks are plopped and another adult just landed on the nest. Got to be mom that just arrived, she is so big.
She must be a record sized eagle.

paula eagleholic said...

Big wing stretch and egg roll at our nest...

Looks like Lib.

Eagle eating at BWO

paula eagleholic said...

Nope that's still Belle in our nest.

Belle keeps arranging and re-arranging the fluff around her.

And now Service error 503....better copy your posts, folks.

It's raw and chilly outside.
