have fun Judie...the last time our washer died, I was at the beach, hubby had to take care of it....just went ahead and bought washer and dryer, since the old ones were the same age...we have always used Sears.
02/12/10: While he was snowed in this week, photographer Bob Quinn took some wonderful photos of his local backyard birds trying to survive the weather.
Good morning, Wanda, and whoever else is on since I last commented. [:~D]
Maaaybeeee, Liberty not setting on the frozen nest bowl and his prodding to do nestorations, etc., will be able to get the pair back on track for a second clutch. I'm hoping so.
yes, Bev....pandas are my first love....I volunteer at the National Zoo in Washington D.C., as an Asian Trail person...work right along with the Giant Pandas, and the other species.
thank you, Sharon....Bev, when I first came on the blog in '06, everyone knew GP's are my first love...I also love the eagles and other raptors, well hell, guess I just love animals:)
Yes, indeed. Good morning, Norma, Megan, Mema Jo, Mits, Sharon, Bev.
I'm thinking more and more that Belle might have realized it's time to put that set of eggs behind them. She seems to be staying off the nest cup more and more.
Asking for more prayers for my friend Rick. He was moved from hospital to a rehab nursing center last week...and is ast the moment on his way to the hospital where Christie works for high fever and cough. They suspect pneumonia. She can't leave the lab, but if admitted to CIU her MIL is working so hope to get an update later.
Bill has tried to get here from both ends of the main road---blown shut. There is a grader starting at one end.
Sometimes, Norma. When I first open cam page I have to hit play, pause button several times to get it going. And sometimes it stops running, but usually starts again on it's own.
Good morning! It continued to snow last night and was still snowing when we went to bed at 12:30. Laurel told me the official total is 14 inches, breaking all records. Jack and I went out and took pictures this morning. It was a very wet snow and stuck to everything, so it is beautiful, looks like a fairly land.
Having trouble with the cam this morning. Had it for 5 min and then it stopped . So how long have they been off the egg? Did see Lib bring in a stick and then leave.
They aren't really sitting on the egg much this morning. Lynne and Bev had some early morning updates, I've been watching for a while, they are bringing in sticks.
The road is just two tracks and there is a truck in the ditch two houses down. Glad they did not go into our yard. Would hate to have to make the repairs. Dip ruts!
yes, Shirley and Norma, just got that alert on my email, and passed it on to hubby, that is the line he would have to take tonight after he arrives at Union Station, was supposed to pick him up at Friendship Heights, he might have to stand in the long lines for a cab
I first started watchng panda cams in 2007 but did not have much time last year. I used to have the Panda as my avatar Must be rewarding work Mits.
I noticed that noise on the cam after the eagle was doing what it was dong up above. I am just doing refresh now as I tried again and the cam is locking my computer also. Can't figure it out but maybe hubby will when he gets home tonihgt.
Wanda, make green onion sauce to have with the crab cakes. OMG It is soooo good. We had that in Maine when there and came home and dug up a recipe. Did that on line. We both just love it.
Prayers for your friend Rick, Lynn...and hopefully Bill can get through soon!
Lolly, your weather has gone crazy!!!
I changed my avatar to one of me and my Valentine for V'day!
Seems trying to watch the cam is freezing up my computer. Not sure what to do about that.
Beautiful sunny day here, lots of melting going on. But there are large chunks of ice falling off of the main roof to the porch roof so I pray it hangs on and doesn't collapse.
Yeah, I don't know if the rebate thing would work for her--there are all kinds of thing to learn--different states have different rules, etc., but if it saves a couple of hundred dollars or so, that's good.
Forgot to tell you. We have a row of shrub/trees between our house and the neighbors. One on the end has bent over from the weight of the snow. the root ball has been pulled out of the ground. It just missed the gh. It is leaning onto the herb garden fence. Do not know if we will be able to save it or not.
Lynn, prayers for your friend, Rick. Prayers, too, that Bill can get through!
We talked to our oldest GD last night, who lives in Dallas. She has never SEEN so much snow! Heard on ABC news that they got 12.5" there. Hope she can get to work today! (She takes the bus--has no car.)
Judie, hoping & praying that you will be able to get a washer today--one that's just perfect for you!
Gotta go shower, shampoo, and get ready to go. We're spending the day with Sis-in-law. MTBR....
Hope you all have a fantastic Lincoln's Birthday Friday! Will be back later tonight to check in and report about our day. Take care, keep your cell phone in your pocket, and stay warm & dry!
Ahhh--hear our Cooper's Hawk out front. No wonder the rest of the birds are scarce right now!
I'm going to turn the cam back on and see what happens. Guess if the computer gets hung up again, that would be why. Not sure why all the problems today.
I'm shocked that the live feed stayed up during two blizzards. The conditions were awful with blowing winds snow and sleet. The snow is melting off the trees now and there is a lot of dripping water.
Mits, if it ain't one thing, it's another! Loved your scenario-----as Lucy would say: B-L-E-A-H!!!
Neightbor used his 4-wheeler with a blade and got back in and shoveled off my deck, and Bill then made it in and opened driveway a bit more. Walkable now....but IF I ever get the truck out of garage, I'll never get it back in. NOT planning on going anywhere! Norma---still no papers---3 days now. Ready to kill again!
After listening to all of your torubles with the live cam, I'm glad I can't watch it right now! Seems to be afflicting many of your computers.
Funny story....After Jack shells pecans he carries the shells in a brown paper sack out to the mulch pile. Right now it is sitting in a rocking chair on the patio. Wrens have discovered the sack and the shells, with a few remnants of pecan. One wren had a shell on the ground working it over. Another was going into the sack. Annie is at the back door, making "I see a bird" sound. So funny! Got pictures.
340 is a mess, it has lots of open ares, wind can really blow across the road. There was a tractor trailer stuck for two days in one spot, and lots of abandoned cars all over the road between Brunswick and Frederick.
Rt 340 is open eastbound, one lane. We have an employee that lives in WV, he made it to Frederick, will probably have to stay in Frederick, Westbound is closed.

Afternoon Everyone! Trying to get things done on probably the last day of vacation!!!! Won't know til the boss calls at the last minute. Finally got brave enough to look at nest this AM & everybody left the egg alone around 10:30. Have more snow pics from 2nd storm, but didn't know whether to put on or not.Everybody's seen snow. Heard there was snow in TX!!
Lynne that is a very sad story. I talked to my son the other night and we were recalling the big snow storms. He would build a snow cave in the back yard. You never think of these things. BBL
Strange thing happened. I clicked on Lynne's link and it took me to Lolly's daughter's pictures on Facebook, and then I got a message that my computer was infected, so I did a Spybot scan. There were some things on there, but I don't think anything really bad. Odd.
Megan, I just sent you a message on FB about the greenhouses but I think FB ate it. Let me know.
OK, question everyone. Late last summer when we moved in, Steve and I dug up a 10foot dogwood tree out of the woods in back and transplanted it to the yard (in my pictures I posted, you can see it). Everyone said it would die, and the info I got online said you just can't transplant them. Well, sure enough, the leaves shriveled up and died pretty quickly. We decided to leave it, because I am stubborn and believed that it WOULD live, and that it was just in shock. So, the other day, I broke off a piece of one of the outer most branches. It didn't break easily because....IT IS GREEN UNDER THE BARK!! It'a alive, right???? If it had died it wouldn't be green, right??
oh NO Shirley.....I got that link from a facebook weather thread and realized just after I posted it the first time that the link went back to FB, so I got the article a different way and reposted. Hope your computer is OK!
Mits, csn't watch shows on internet unless I do it in the middle of the night. Only one of my soaps on Soapnet channel is Y&R. I was watching on antennae alternate chaneel...but lo and behold it IS on regular channel!
Gotta tell you about my dream last night...think Paula mentioning pot roast in the freezer caused it! I dreamed that I had invited you all for a roast beef dinner....and when I reached in the freezer for the roast, there wasn't any! Apparently I was snowed in but you all weren't snowed out----go figure! I jumped out of bed in a panic!! Duh!
OMG.......:( Was just looking for a phone number on my cell.....still have Debs' number on there. Guess I should go ahead and delete it....with a heavy heart.
Going to take a panda nap. See the egg there. Most likely Belle who just left. I still feel badly for her and all she has gone through but I hope they will see much more of their home without snow as the days pass, and move on to the next chapter of their family for 2010.
Show us your pictures, Lolly. We have certainly posted plenty of our own snow pictures. We can laugh about it all in June. (Of course, I may be in school until July, but, then, so may your daughter and grandkids.) But it is something that we can't control.
Yes, Lynn, they notified us earlier about the cancellation of the Monday holiday. We usually lose that holiday, but, you're right. It remains to be seen. Even without the prediction of more snow next week, I don't know if the roads will be clear enough. Maybe a delayed opening.
Kathryn has to work tomorrow to make up for the missed day this week. She was not too happy about that, but she did say they have a lot to do. Fortunately, I can keep Hunter. Tom has to work, too.
Tomorrow is Mattie's b-day, Mits! !2 yrs. old! Her skating party has been postponed because of the roads....but still a family partee' and Andrew is coming home, too!
Good afternoon. Everyone is digging out around here but have no place to put the white "crap!"
Had a little excitement out front of our house earlier. We live at a "y" and an empty flatbed truck tried to make the corner and got his trailer stuck on the snow bank and his cab just spinned its tires on the ice. Of course this blocked our driveway. To the rescue was a small cat, a dump with a plow and finally a BIG snow plow w/bucket. Neither of the little ones could move it so the big plow used a heavy chain to pull the flatbed out of the snowbank and the driver got enough traction to pull the truck straight. Can't imagine what it was doing on that backroad to begin with. There are farms on that road and milk tankers are in and out a lot, but an empty flatbed?
My guys are out trying to get some snow and icicles off the roofs. What a mess this is!!!!!
Lolly, love your pictures of the Texas snow. It's white just like ours!

Good morning, everyone.
Wanda, enjoy the new computer. Will take a bit of a learning curve -- at least it did for me.
Hope all others are getting around safely.
We're going to try to get out to go to Lowes to look at a washer and then to Ft. Belvoir nearby for food. Sunshine here.
Sounds as if Daisy needs Prozac.
Mauley, I do love teaching. Just sometimes the wannabe adults are annoying.
Okay, off for the washer adventure. BBL

And gone. Up to 32° here now and the sun is shining brightly.
MEGAN!--Are you having trouble with freezing at the nest site?
YEP MEGAN!---33° here---we may be having a heat wave!---HO!

HEDGIE---I certainly will keep RICK in my thoughts & prayers!--GOD BLESS!
Closed that window, brought it up again and it is running. The hum is louder this morning.
Hi--Back form my break.
Metro train has derailed. Red line.
red line METRO train has DERAILED in DC!
Prayers for your friend hedgie.
I first started watchng panda cams in 2007 but did not have much time last year.
I used to have the Panda as my avatar
Must be rewarding work Mits.
I noticed that noise on the cam after the eagle was doing what it was dong up above.
I am just doing refresh now as I tried again and the cam is locking my computer also. Can't figure it out but maybe hubby will when he gets home tonihgt.
Off to dry the hair now.
Mits, Red Line derailment---near Farragut Sq. Apparently no injuries...
Now that is scary, says the front wheels of the lead car came off the track.
they sure have had their problems this last year.....that is the line people take to the zoo, too.
can you imagine...you have cabin fever, and then you find out the zoo is open, and you hop onto Metro and boom:(
headed in direction of shady grove---folks still on train---
Wanda, make green onion sauce to have with the crab cakes. OMG It is soooo good. We had that in Maine when there and came home and dug up a recipe. Did that on line. We both just love it.
Prayers for your friend Rick, Lynn...and hopefully Bill can get through soon!

Glad we made your news. LOL Afterall, have been listening about your snowfall on our news.
LOLLY!---What ADORABLE little ones!---and those FROGGY BOOTS are so COOL!!!
no injuries on train--
Norma....this morning...omelet and thick bacon, and grits...coming up. My chef is in the kitchen while I blog. SPOILED! Oh, and homemade bread toast.
Aren't those froggy boots cute? However, Laurel says he needs new boots.
EAGLE! Messing with the egg. Both, one with a tree!
Judie, do you know about the federial appliance rebate program? I just heard about it this morning.
Poof one!
Glad there are no injuries on the Red Line train. TRAIN???? shhhh, don't say train....
Shirley, I saw something about the rebate program as well and was just going to post that for Judie!
Prayers for your friend, Rick, Lynn.
Poof second one!
Really enjoyed having TJ share his knowledge with us last night. Be sure to read back to his comments.
Morning, again.
I can see an egg, so that tells me an eagle has visited between 8am and now...any incubation?
Haven't had time to catch up...thanks!
Eagle back. Another big stick.
Can you imagine the rearranging they will do after the snow melts? lol
I see Belle at the nest now...
Hey Wanda, sorry I left without permission awhile ago. I fell asleep. Was up late last night and got up early this morning.
You've got lots of energy this morning, Wanda! I couldn't have kept up with you.
My camera link is really acting up this morning. I have never had that problem before.
Wow, that looks like a mess at the Metro.
I am hearing no injuries, though. That is a good thing.
poof
New sticks all over the nest.
My live feed is slow too..not flowing, thought it was just me...bound to happen in this weather...
Good Morning, Everyone!

Well, later, alligators! BBL... :o]
well that was cool, saw the eagle flying around the nest before it landed
had a big clump of something in its talons
both now
poof 1
now the other
PAULA---My computer is as slow as molasses too!---I don't think it's our puters!
poor hubby, two weeks away from home and have to come back into town with this problem....as he always says though..."it is what it is"
nesting material in bowl. Eggs were clearly visible and now covered by clump of nesting material
yes, Bev, they have been bringing in sticks and fluff
laying in nest cup now
back in and fixing bowl and now incubating
Is that LIb???
Screen black
BEAUTIFUL BELLE on her nest--still moving some sticks!---isn't that such a loving thing!---LIB seems to be a cool DAD!---ho!
Sunshine on the eagle!
Well who knows. One thing. when the eggs have been left, the sun has been shining so ....
Norma, I don't think it's our computers either!
I'm going to turn the cam back on and see what happens. Guess if the computer gets hung up again, that would be why. Not sure why all the problems today.
Eagle with another stick.
more sticks
Back with a stick again!
wow, that's some weird buzzing noise.
poof
I'm shocked that the live feed stayed up during two blizzards. The conditions were awful with blowing winds snow and sleet. The snow is melting off the trees now and there is a lot of dripping water.
Eagle flew in with stick, told the other one on the egg cup...get off. Eagle got off and after a moment flew away.
yeah, amazing , Megan
Andy, how was your exam?????> A+++??
Mits, if it ain't one thing, it's another! Loved your scenario-----as Lucy would say: B-L-E-A-H!!!
Neightbor used his 4-wheeler with a blade and got back in and shoveled off my deck, and Bill then made it in and opened driveway a bit more. Walkable now....but IF I ever get the truck out of garage, I'll never get it back in. NOT planning on going anywhere!

glad they got in Lynn...
Eagle messing with the egg cup.
Doing something in the egg cup.
Moving sticks around. Maybe putting some small ones in the egg cup.
From what I read, many roads in our area still closed or barely passable. Many back roads, but some highways in a few spots due to drifting snow.
Now messing with big stick. Looked for a while like breaking off twigs and putting them in the egg cup. Now rearranging big sticks. So fun to watch.
Can not see the egg as well now, definitly put twigs over the egg.
Not only did the live cam & still cam stay up but my electricity stayed on for which I am so thankful.
yes, Megan, going to be awhile before things get better, was watching a video this a.m. of RT 340 mess.
Oh, puleeease, don't even get me started on how much I love electricity!
Texans have their yard stick out now measuring depth of snow - Louisiana is
getting it to. I pray it isn't coming our way
Lunch time here
let me try again...story of how dangerous snow can be...very sad.
Danger
Just when it appeared things might return to regular programming on TV....now guess shows will be pre-empted again, Lynne!
Now eagle wiggled wiggled down on the egg, but definitly covered it first. Interesting.
yes, by far that was the most important thing that I have been thankful for...electricity
340 is a mess, it has lots of open ares, wind can really blow across the road. There was a tractor trailer stuck for two days in one spot, and lots of abandoned cars all over the road between Brunswick and Frederick.
was just going to tell you, Lynne that first one took me to facebook
that was the video I was watching earlier....big rig stuck in massive snowdrift
Well this is getting interesting. I have to go but they are preparing for something ??????
And that is all I am saying
Lynn, can you get soapnet.com, it replays alot of shows later in the day
Yep, saw it too, know exactly where that truck was stuck.
I have the soap channel on my dish, replays all the soaps.
Lynne, that is just an awful story about the little girl. I just can not imagine!!! Prayers for that family. They will be suffering for a long time.
oh no Lynn....I have the stories here!
The wiggle wiggle uncovered the egg.
Rt 340 is open eastbound, one lane. We have an employee that lives in WV, he made it to Frederick, will probably have to stay in Frederick, Westbound is closed.
I know Lolly, this was the perfect kind of snow for digging into. I hope people will learn from this.
My live feed is running much better
Lolly, cute story! Be careful...they might try to build a nest in the bag like they did with my bag of straw!!
Lots of miracles with this storm, for sure.
Jo.....3-6" for Mon. forecast. :(
so sad, Lynne
Eagle back with stick.
Afternoon all. Jim and I walked to the bank. The streets are horrible.
We have gotten our first paper in a week that was on time. No mail yesterday again. It will get better.
Lynn prayers for Ric
They are saying BWI airport that if people have been away the cars have 5 feet of snow on them
That is a very sad story, Lynne.
wow, poor people that have to dig out that snow, and most probably don't have anything in their car to do it...
Just knocked down an icicle from back roof corner that was about 10" around at top.
dang, why won't these sticks move...:)

I think my computer is fine, Lynne. Don't worry.
yes they have wrapped up the coverage...mine is on too...I only watch one...DOOL
Wonder why Lib and Belle aren't using those huge talons to try to clear snow out of the nest...???
one of them is right up above the nest at 12, can see its shadow every now and then
Working on more pics. I really have some great pictures.
Duh!
I love frozen roast:)
eagle just left from branch above
OMG.......:( Was just looking for a phone number on my cell.....still have Debs' number on there. Guess I should go ahead and delete it....with a heavy heart.
landed on branch again
LOL, Mits, was going to cook it for you!
Watching our eagle... think another will soon come in.
Lynn - prayers for Rick's health to improve.
I guess the eagles don't think in terms of removing the snow. They seem to think in terms of building on top of it.
Looks like the pair are moving on, don't you think?
Have a great day. I've got to run some errands, take care of some chores.

Going to take a panda nap. See the egg there. Most likely Belle who just left. I still feel badly for her and all she has gone through but I hope they will see much more of their home without snow as the days pass, and move on to the next chapter of their family for 2010.
I hope they will bury the eggs or something so that they don't get confused if they lay more, but maybe they don't have a problem with that.
Does anyone have Mattie's email address??? I show it as frontier. com but since Sissy's is .net, I'm athinkin' hers should be, too....???
I know you all are VERY tired of snow, but I have posted a jillion pictures taken this morning, Some I think are really good.
Awww poor Eggbert 3. "Sit on me".
Lynn, frontier changed and took over juno, I think, and our friends were given the option of .com if they didn't want .net. So both may be in use.
Show us your pictures, Lolly. We have certainly posted plenty of our own snow pictures. We can laugh about it all in June. (Of course, I may be in school until July, but, then, so may your daughter and grandkids.) But it is something that we can't control.
Okay, Loretta. Thanks! Didn't know that about juno! Have you heard about work yet??
Shirley, saw on the news this morning that they canceled your Mon. holiday-----guess that remains TBD depending on the next storm!
is it Mattie's BD today???
Yes, Lynn, they notified us earlier about the cancellation of the Monday holiday. We usually lose that holiday, but, you're right. It remains to be seen. Even without the prediction of more snow next week, I don't know if the roads will be clear enough. Maybe a delayed opening.
Mattie Jane's b-day is tomorrow the 13th. She will be 12.
Kathryn has to work tomorrow to make up for the missed day this week. She was not too happy about that, but she did say they have a lot to do. Fortunately, I can keep Hunter. Tom has to work, too.
Tomorrow is Mattie's b-day, Mits! !2 yrs. old! Her skating party has been postponed because of the roads....but still a family partee' and Andrew is coming home, too!
ok, thanks,:)
I'm trying to find out correct email for Mattie Jane........ I have 2 different ones. MTBR
New thread!!!!!!!!!!
Come on over!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, that means YOU!!!!!!!!!!!☺
Good afternoon.
Eagle just flew in! with more fluff?
Okay, headed to the new thread.
Oh, I am so angry----a wreck involving injured child that was sitting on its' mothers lap. Why are people so stupid????
