Thx Norma. I had a different one on before, but thought I give another one some time.Ended up making a little folder w/just cardinals. I should put on at my house the other day on Blog. His belly was red, but sides and wings a rosy tan. Think it must be a juvie male.
Good morning all, just checking in to say hi and check on the "kids". I have a stiff neck from this computer but bills have to be paid. I will check back and forth just to keep from going crazy. Hugs all.
Tai Shan has arrived safely at his new home at Wolong's Bifengxia Base in Ya'an, Sichuan. The 184-pound panda arrived in Chengdu today at 4:26 p.m. local time, and reached Bifengxia Base at about 9 p.m. He was welcomed at his new home by more than 100 people, including a children's dance team. He entered quarantine in the Base's indoor holding area, where he will remain for 30 days before making his public debut to visitors of the Bifengxia Base. The Zoo veterinarian and keeper who traveled with him also arrived safely and are headed to Bifengxia Base.
His 15-hour non-stop flight departed Dulles International Airport at 12:10 p.m. yesterday via a FedEx 777 plane, also known as the "Panda Express." Tai Shan was transported in a custom-made, spacious, steel crate. He was trained to enter and calmly remain in the crate to prepare him for the trip to China. Tai Shan was not sedated for the journey. Throughout his journey, he traveled exceptionally well, eating bamboo and fruit during the entire trip. Nicole, the keeper who traveled with him, said he was a "rock star"!
If I won the lottery I would buy a home in Shepardstown for the summer and fall, then head to California for the winter. I love that town and I love that train......
Norma, will always remember popcorn on the stove! We had some kind of popcorn pan with a domed lid. But my grandpop would do it in the cast iron skillet! Nothing today tastes as good as they did! Margy, like your new avatar! Cute!
Popcorn - I remember granddaddy would use the cast iron skillet and we kids if we could get a kernel would throw it on the coal stove and watch it pop... Always did it for the kids on the stove in a sauce pan until I had a ceramic top stove - then we went to Jiffy Pop and then to Microwave.... I guess that is what they will remember
The medicine is working very well, Lynn. I had a nice visit with the doctor, and he said I could reduce the dose, and so far, so good.
I don't want to cause undue concern about my diagnosis from this fall. I have colitis. Had been reluctant to put it on the blog, but I do not want anyone to think it is something worse. It could be much worse. I got it under control in January . . . had been a problem since October.
Doctor said that I will be taking the medicine for the rest of my life. I am interested to see how much the insurance company is going to pay.
my popcorn popper is a kettle that after you put the top on --just & turn the STIRER thing & it pops in just a few min!---and all the kernels pop!---This is about my 3rd one-- easy!!
Kathryn is on the way home. They closed the shop. Makes me feel better.
When Isabel hit, they did not close for the longest time; I finally called and told Kathryn that she really needed to come home, and she told her boss that her mommy said she had to come home. He actually closed the shop and sent everybody home. I asked her if she wanted me to call again today!
Kathryn said it was really a scary drive home on the day of Isabel. Stores were shut down and the storm was awful. There was almost nobody else out there.
Well poot! Typed a lot and then hit something wrong and it disappeared! Poot!
What I said was.....glad that you reported the fish brought to the nest. I have not seen them eat in a long while!
Pop corn.....Daddy prepared all of our Sunday meals. Pan cakes for breakfast, pot roast for dinner after church, and for the evening meal....pop corn and malts. He would pop it on the gas stove and pour it into the deep well on the stove. Remember deep wells? Then pop another batch. Yummy!
Pop corn on Sunday nights was legendary in the extended family. Everyone knew we had pop corn every Sunday night. It was even mentioned at Mother's grave side service. My cousin's son, who is a minister, did the service.
Just got off the phone with a very excited college kid. Interview went great, House director is going to recommend that he should be hired to HR dept...HR interview is on Monday. And yes, he went in a suit and tie :) I relayed Judie's comment to him, he got a good laugh!
We always had pop corn on Sunday evenings too!---But my mother always popped the corn until I was old enough!---I was so excited!!--I could pop the corn!--ho!
SHirley, assuming that insurance covers it....hope you can keep your school coverage. If you have to switch to Medicare Part D, you'll end up in the donut hole real fast, which means from the time they pay $2000-something you will have to pay out -of-pocket til it reaches $4000-something, before they will kick in and start paying again---every year! But sure glad the med is working!
Lolly, don't think I ever saw a stove with the well you referred to. Sunday nights were always popcorn nights at home, too, but at Grams and Pops' it was ANY night we were there!
Lynne, reading the report you posted....my grandma always talked about the Knickerbocker snow storm....they lived not too far from the Knickerbocker Theatre---roof collapsed, hence the name of the storm.
Hi everyone! Give up!! I tried to read and catch up on all the posts, but it's impossible.
Poor eagle in the nest. Can barely see it. Hope whomever is in the nest it's mate will feed it. At least a blanket of snow will help keep the egg warm.
The snow is now starting to lay on the ground. I'm worried about Jim getting home; he works 'til 7 PM and if the electric goes off, we're SOL. Have oil heat that needs electric to start the boiler. The gas stove will be our only source of heat if things get that bad. When Jim gets home I hope it snows and blows that he can't get out tomorrow. This is the beginning of his 7 day week.
Hope everyone is hunkered down and safe in their own nests.

Snow so far is SO wet that it's not accumulating very much...probably only 1/2". Slush in some places.
The medicine is working very well, Lynn. I had a nice visit with the doctor, and he said I could reduce the dose, and so far, so good.

My Dad used to make it on the stove. Probably 5-6 quarts...was never enough for him and 3 kids...he had to make 2 batches, LOL
Roads still just wet here, not sticking to the grass yet either.
Speaking of Mac and cheese, had to go to Panera and get some. Has anyone tried it? Really good white cheddar mac & cheese.

Thanks for the heads up Paula.
Love Mac & Cheese and now I'll go to give it a try at Panera's!
What is all that noise
You hear it Sharon?
Oh, it's yummy Jo, you can get it as one of their side options or in the two for deal.
Shirley - Very thankful you caught it so early and that the medication is working for you.
Going to take a break
Glad the meds are helping, Shirley.
my popcorn popper is a kettle that after you put the top on --just & turn the STIRER thing & it pops in just a few min!---and all the kernels pop!---This is about my 3rd one-- easy!!
Better yet, Jo, give me a holler when you want to go to Panera's

We have two eagles and sweet eagle talk.
Did someone say Paneras? I love that place!
Eagle just flew in
Lib is back..is that another fish?
Looks like a fish to me- and off he goes.
Well that is a nice looking fish...what a good provider Lib is!
More snow is accumulating in the nest.
Whoa----storm itself is still down south close to Atlanta!! This is just the leading edge. Blizzard conditions start tonight!!
Snow really clings to the tree trunk. Maybe it piles up on the tape for the camera cables.

Great Superbowl Weekend Storm of 2010 update

I look at the eagle on the nest and feel sorry for them. But, then remember that no matter what...they would be out in the elements.
LORDY--LORDY!---Our SNOW has been sticking ever since it started!! There is at least 6 or more inches on top the feeders!!
If I don't stop eating---I will be out of food by tomorrow! ho!
Snow is starting to stick here now.
Just got off the phone with a very excited college kid. Interview went great, House director is going to recommend that he should be hired to HR dept...HR interview is on Monday. And yes, he went in a suit and tie :)

ROFL, Norma. Guess that popcorn was good!

That's great, Paula!
Egg roll
Eagle up tenting
Whoa, could be more than tenting!
Vacuuming is done!
All this Mac & cheese talk has convinced me to make some for dinner....and plenty of leftovers!
Great news about Michael, Paula!
Lolly, don't think I ever saw a stove with the well you referred to.
Sunday nights were always popcorn nights at home, too, but at Grams and Pops' it was ANY night we were there!
Going to go ahead and scrub my baking taters....if power goes off, I can put them in the coals in the woodstove!
Snow starting to stick here now on the grassy areas.
Belle now laying with wings spread facing 9ish
Jo, after I hit 60 minutes, mine rolls right over too!
Looks like Belle is dozing off
Snow is beginning to stick here. Been heavy for several hours.
Paula, bet Michael looked extra handsome and hope the next interview is even more successful.
Glad you saw the doctor AND got the medication, Shirley and happy the problem is under control. Safe home for Kathryn.
Love Panera. Oh, Cooks Illustrated online has a terrific creamy stove top mac & cheese recipe.
Do so wish the nest could have some sun and warmth. Looks so very cold.
Didn't the fed gov't have liberal/unscheduled leave in effect today?
I have always made my mac and cheese on the stove top
snow finally sticking here too
Getting really heavy now and starting to accumulate. Norma, they just said you have 5" already.
Wrecks are starting....
Lynne, reading the report you posted....my grandma always talked about the Knickerbocker snow storm....they lived not too far from the Knickerbocker Theatre---roof collapsed, hence the name of the storm.
Where was that theatre?
My friend in Coral Gables, Fl just posted on FB that they under a tornado watch! Sure hope the shuttle doesn't get threatened by those storms!

Well it is coming down and getting heavy now. Suppose to be an 1" or 2" an hour now.
Belle really looks snowed in there or Lib.
